The place wasn't too crowded, a bit on the smaller side, and didn't have all the usual flair and flames you might expect from a Japanese steakhouse--but hey, we were already in, so let's go! The staff was friendly overall. Our waiter Genard really tried to keep up with our large group. He missed a few things here and there, but nothing major--overall, he did a decent job. Let's get into the food... The salad came out nice and cold, but that ginger dressing? Whew... not for me. It tasted really heavy on the mayo and overpowered the ginger flavor. I sent it back and got the ginger dipping sauce instead--and that actually worked much better! The soup was hot and fresh like it should be. It had mushrooms (not my thing), so I just pushed those to the side. Now the main event--the food was GOOD! I actually loved that they added vegetables like peas and carrots into the rice--nice little touch you don't always see. The shrimp was tender, the chicken was delicious, and I really appreciated how finely chopped it was instead of big chunks--it made it more tender and soaked up that teriyaki flavor perfectly. The vegetables were cooked just how I like them--crisp broccoli, carrots, onions... flavorful and not overcooked at all. And let's not forget the plum wine--nice, cold, sweet, and exactly what I needed after a long day running around with kids for spring break. It definitely hit the spot! And the BEST part?
