I called this moving and packing company, explaining my situation. Spoke with a person named Carol who appeared to be very understanding and professional on the phone. I explained I had a 2bdrm, 2bath apartment with a digital keyboard and piano and asked if they could help. I explained that I had limited mobility issues due to an injury and that time was of the essence. She said absolutely they could help and that their rate was $280 per hour for a truck and 2 movers with a 2 hour minimum. She told me that for the 2 people it would be another $280 per hour and said once they assessed the apartment, an additional person would be $50 per hour. Although their website stated they were women owned and operated, only men showed up on the day of the move. I found out shortly afterwards that they were actually subcontractor who worked for a completely separate company. They did not appear to be knowledgeable about packing and stuffed my clothes which were hanging in plastic bags into other plastic bags to take to the truck. When a worker saw the piano, Carol was called and she told me there would be an additional charge and it couldn't be moved until the next week. I did have that kind of time. That was when one of the workers told me that I could speak with his boss to get a quote to move the piano separate from 808ASAP Movers. That caught me off guard as the quote that I originally received included moving the piano. This resulted in a lot of confusion, chaos, and raised voices. I then negotiated with the other workers boss to try to coordinate getting the piano out. Meanwhile, the person who was packing did not pack properly and broke a lot of my dishes and glasses, along with other things. After my belongings were moved to the new apartment, they left trash behind, and a trail of rubbish all the way down the stairs. A person from my former apartment complex came and took pictures and was going to fine me for the cleanup. A lot of my things were broken in the move as I discovered after unpacking in the new apartment....apparently since they did not have a dolly and carried things by hand or either dragged things to the truck. I repeatedly asked for a paid invoice after the move and was treated in the the most unprofessional and rude way Imaginable, even to the point of being threatened by a woman named Ally on the phone. After calling and emailing Carol for a copy of the paid invoice which is pretty standard practice by any reputable company, they blocked my number and would not answer or return any of my calls or emails. When I tried calling the Alabama number, it referred back to the Hawaii number. When I went to their physical address, it was actually an apartment complex, called the Oasis in Waipahu and not an industrial park or any commercial establishment. That by itself is a huge RED FLAG! When I checked with the Better Business Bureau, I discovered they have a number of complaints and have been operating without the proper license and insurance is for years. This is horrible! For any and all unsuspecting customers. When I called the contractor who actually did the move, I was met with the same rude and obnoxious behavior. Apparently they saw my phone number and would not answer or take my calls after I explained my dilemma with them in seeking a copy of a paid invoice. When I called a reputable competitor to find out what their rate would be to move a two bedroom two bath apartment with the piano, their rate was much less than $560 an hour I was charged by this unlicensed and uninsured company. I would absolutely never recommend this group of people who are putting themselves out as Movers to anyone not even my worst enemy! On top of that, they broke a lot of things, a lot of my furniture, including dishes, and left a mess which I have included below. I feel that this group of people took advantage of my situation, my limited mobility issues, and the stress I was under, and leveraged it to their benefit. This is not OK. Not in Hawaii. Where do I start. I moved from Oahu to seattle, one year later after the business I moved to work for failed to stay active I moved right back. Both times Alley and her team were quick to respond, diligent in their time management and organization as well as kind and pleasant to communicate and work with. I want to say thank you to Alley especially during our transition back, we had gotten scammed by our first choice company. It was local and we were hoping they would move out stuff quicker. Thankfully we were able to prevent getting any money stolen but we had scheduled to move our stuff and then they never showed since, well, they were a bit sketch. Update 5/10/2023: I was hoping to move this review the other way following the comment from the business below, but it is clear that their number one concern is regarding not looking good as opposed to actually taking any steps to correct their errors. We're now nearly a month from the comment about how embarrassed they were with their terrible service, and I have yet to hear anything from the business outside of the comment that was posted below. I definitely recommend going with someone else even more than I did when first writing my review. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We were doing a PODS move. I had some other people already scheduled to arrive on Sunday (3/26) to load heavy items and furniture, but as we got closer I realized I would need additional assistance in order to be prepared. I contacted ASAP Movers on Thursday (3/23). I was told there was no availability on Friday, but that I could get 2 experienced packers on Saturday (3/25). I was told they were very experienced and good at packing, but could also assist with preparing furniture as well as loading items onto the POD if needed. They showed up slightly ahead of schedule Saturday, which was great. We did a quick walkthrough of the house regarding what packing we needed. We then stopped in one room where we had several pieces of artwork that needed to be packaged. My wife was inquiring about their plan for packing the artwork when one of the 2 guys started laughing in our faces, and he then stated he wasn't a wrapper, he was a mover. We elected to have my wife pack up the artwork instead. We sent them to work packing up, with one guy going into one of the girls' bedrooms, and the other working in the kitchen. After about an hour, it was clear that packing was not at all in their wheelhouse. The guy working in the kitchen had started about 6 or 7 boxes, finishing none, and not really doing anything to protect the contents from damage (wrapping in paper, etc.). The other guy had finished boxes, but they were all ill-prepared (not enough packing material, box not full enough to support stacking, etc.). I ultimately had to open every box he did and repack them properly. At this point we shifted over to them preparing furniture, i.e. taking it down and wrapping it in blankets, plastic-wrap, etc. They moved through this pretty well, but it still took a lot of coaching to not have them do stuff that was going to cause problems on the other end, such as using tape directly on furniture - probably fine for the short term moves they normally do, but terrible for long term (multi-month) as the tape will leave a residue that will have to be cleaned off. This happened on a few pieces before we noticed and could stop them, so we'll just have to deal with cleaning up when we unpack on the other end. Towards the end, I elected to have them move some of the stuff into the POD as I had no additional furniture for them to prepare, primarily because I had expected these guys to come to pack. They complained about moving some of the heavy items out because it was challenging without their own furniture moving equipment. I asked them why they hadn't brought it, and they said it was because they had come to pack and not move things, even though the person I spoke with on the phone indicated they would pack, prepare furniture, and load items if needed. This was all the more amusing since their first statement was that they weren't wrappers (packers). Overall, they did not have anywhere near the experience level I expected and didn't provide the services I primarily needed (packing), but I was able to get some value out of most of the time with a lot of coaching. This was very disappointing considering I paid $280 an hour for this service while providing all supplies. I contacted the owner and provided pretty much this same review 2 weeks ago, attempting to give them the opportunity to defend or adjudicate, but received no response. Called ASAP movers on Wednesday to request last minute moving help to move my daughter out of a 6th floor studio apartment to a house on the other side of the island. Ally (owner of the business) was off island, but was able to schedule us for Friday. She sent Angelo and another young man whose name I did not catch. Both were courteous and efficient. Got our entire unorganized move down the elevator at one place and into the moving truck. Then unloaded into tight neighborhood and got everything moved in...which required moving the heavier pieces of furniture up a staircase. The whole move was quick and easy from start to finish. Would absolutely recommend this company and will definitely use again should the need arise. read more

I moved from Waikiki to Maui back in January. Owner gave me estimate and sounded very nice on the phone. But at the moving day she told me that she needed to charge more so since I didn't have any other choice, I agreed to pay extra. After I got the moving stuff of mine I couldn't believe my eyes. So many of my stuff was broken and there the owner on the phone speaking foul language to her workers and send me another bill for 2nd extra payment. I told the movers to fix my furnitures broken legs and that's all I asked which they glued themselves and bring them back but I can't put anything on my dining room table nor my matching cabinet table because legs are too wobbly. Then owner said they have insurance and they supposed to pay for the damages which I didn't get anything. Woman owns this place and that's why I hired her to do the job. I moved twice in 2020. Yes, twice! Lol. Moving is exhausting both mentally and physically. I tried to use my other loving company I used on my first move but they gave me a ridiculously high estimate. No thank you! So I searched Yelp and came across ASAP Movers. Ally was my point of contact and got me a quote within hours of speaking with her. *for future reference, maybe a follow up email and confirmation on move time would be great. I kept bugging her to confirm my time because I have a horrible memory. Once paid, maybe generate an email with time and date?* anyways, Ally was very responsive so I appreciate that. When the day came, 3 guys abs a truck pulled up. They wore their masks the entire time so I appreciate that!! Even when lifting all my heavy things. They also wrap everything that goes into the truck so that's a plus. Everything! Even my pillows lol. They completed my move from Kapolei to Makiki in 3 hours. A two bedroom apartment to another two bedroom apartment. Perfect timing! The 3 guys I had were amazing and friendly. I felt bad because of all the stairs they had to walk up but they didn't complain and did it with a smile .. or so I think, under the mask lol. Don't forget to tip your movers and give plenty of water bottles to them. It's hot out here and they lift A LOT. Shout out to Ally and her crew at ASAP Movers. The initial quote was high, but after speaking with her and explaining what needed to be moved, and where to/from, we settled on a price. I was impressed with her knowledge of the moving industry and experience. To be honest, they weren't the cheapest, but after speaking with her, she said she was insured, which was important b/c the move was at a condo. They are also a woman-owned business so kudos to that! ASAP movers are awesome! We received a recommendation to use them from people in our old apartment complex. They helped us move from Ewa to Kailua in June. Because of a move ahead of us taking a little longer, they were very communicative about this and gave us a discount and extra person to help in the move. Everybody was so friendly and chill. There was one point where we weren't sure if our dining table wasn't going to fit through the front door of our new place but they Made it work! I had a very good experience with the two movers that did my job. Their names are Duke and Justin. They arrived on time snd were quick, efficient, and friendly. I really appreciated their hard work! Ally the lady I spoke to on the phone initially was also awesome! She had very good customer service skills. I just had an issue with another lady I had to speak with on the phone when the job was complete. Her name was Shay I believe. I felt she was condescending when I didn't understand the breakdown of my bill which made me feel like I was being cheated or swindled somehow. But when I called Ally- everything made sense. Shay should definitely get some lessons on customer service from Ally. But other than that I think Ally's business deserves 5 stars!! Pros: Working with Carol and Che was great. Carol answered all my questions and if she didn't know the answer, she would do the research and get back to me. We thought our household goods would fit in a 20' container, but found that we needed a second mixed container (which ended up in another 20' container). Che coordinated and helped with moving our first (big load). She worked efficiently and effectively; directing her crew of 2 guys. Cons: we had problems with the second load of our household goods. Che had a family emergency so she was not there to move our items and we had already moved to Hilo so we were not there to supervise the move. The movers were to pick up our goods, load it into a container at Young Bros at the dock, and we were to pick up our household items when it arrived in Hilo. The issues were: 1) no copy of the bill of lading was given to us so my husband initially had difficulty retrieving our goods. Luckily, the person at Young Bros took the time to find the bill of lading in the computer using our phone number. 2) The boxes and items were not secured in the container so boxes had fallen and strewn in the container, and kettle bells were not wrapped/secured so they were found rolling in the container. 3). Probably the worst thing is that we are missing some things: a brand new Ninja oven/air fryer (still in the original box, never been used), a $200 tent, and an umbrella that attached to the truck hitch that my husband uses for work. Initially Ally was very responsive to calls and text. However, she has stopped responding to my texts. I am so disappointed with this company. What started off as decent service ended up with very poor service and no resolution (or even a conversation to figure out what could have happened to the missing items). If it weren't for Carol and Che, I would have given ASAP movers a rating of one star. read more

I hope people notice that the recent reviews are very poor. Maybe this company was *once* great, hence the great average rating. Recently, though, it seems that Ally is the problem. Even the movers complained about her. Terrible customer service and no follow through. Her excuse is that she doesn't have my last name from Yelp. I have left her voicemails, sent many text messages, and have emailed back and forth with the co-owner, Carol. Maybe Carol is to blame too. I really don't know at this point, but she definitely knows how to contact me. The next excuse will probably be that she tried calling, texting, and emailing me but it didn't go through. All of my contact info is the same. Maybe she has so many unhappy customers that she can't keep them straight. Who knows. Needed some help moving last minute and they were able to help us move out of our townhouse just two days after we sent our initial request. Movers showed up right on time and got straight to work. Took a little longer than I'd anticipated but sure beats getting crushed by heavy furniture going down stairs. They put everything in the rooms I requested when we arrived at the new place. Needed to rent a vehicle and some boxes to move our household goods on Hickam Field. Shirren was very helpful with the boxes and vehicle and inquired if we needed help or had movers. We were introduced to Che who runs ASAP movers. She explained who they were (women owned company) and the number to call to coordinate. The whole process was easy. We were able to schedule movers for a couple of hours and the price was reasonable. Three movers showed on the day scheduled and we received a call letting knew they were on the way and showed up on time. They moved the items we needed moved with care and worked together as a team. ASAP Movers are great! Finished our move from a 2nd floor house to a high rise building with a lot of heavy furniture and tons of boxes etc. When we moved to our previous location last year, it took the movers I hired from Craigslist 7 - 8 hours to move the same things. ASAP Movers did it in 5 hours! I first selected 5 moving companies from Yelp (5 star rated only) which I felt would serve my needs and contacted them for quotes. It took a few days but after conversations with the other movers (1 mover declined the job because of the difficulty), a couple of in house estimates and speaking with Ally, I decided to choose ASAP Movers because she seemed to be the most up front and honest about her prices. She did come out a little high but it was worth it! I have to be honest, when they first arrived I was telling my wife I may have selected the wrong movers; but I was completely wrong! I chose 4 movers instead of 3 which cost more but I needed to insure we would get done in the time allotted for the elevator reservation. ASAP Movers brought 5 movers for the same price. ASAP Movers were fast, efficient and also took great care in trying to insure our items were not damaged in any way. They also shrink wrapped all the furniture, appliances etc. My wife and I have moved 7 times in the last 12 years so we have a lot of experience with moving companies.
