Trying to look up for more authentic Taiwanese place and found this hidden gem. Also recommend by one of my colleagues. Located in the plaza on De Zavala crossing Stable Oak, it is not extremely visible from the street driving there. Parking is always easy since; a shared parking lot right in front and on the side of the restaurant, shared with other shops. Have tried a variety of their dishes including the Taiwanese rice noodle, Pot Stickers, and Passion Green Tea. The popcorn rice noodles are very authentic, similarly to eating them at the night markets in Taiwan. Thin, refreshing glass noodles fried with cabbage, sliced mushrooms, carrots and pork slices. The fried Pot Stickers is probably one of the best ones I've ever tried in the greater San Antonio area. The Passion Green is very well made and even has passion fruit seeds in it! The interior decor is currently under construction but well decorated with a signature Taiwanese bear sign, plus well lit floor from all the tall window glasses. Can be a bit loud. Unfortunately they do not provide military discount (not surprised since most Asian stores do not offer discount). Will definitely come back to try more authentic Taiwanese dishes. 10/10 experience at Artea despite the construction! I honestly did not expect the food to stand out as much as it did! The popcorn chicken was the perfect snack while playing cards and enjoying our boba. It had a hint of cinnamon to it and was hot and perfectly crunchy. Muah :) The boba drinks were a 10/10 as well. They have the best pot stickers hands down! The flavor, the crunch, they're not greasy, not dry, they're perfect... Jesus himself handmade thẹm, I'm convinced. On top of that, they're cheap. I don't understand why other places charge $10+ for potstickers. The cucumber salad that accompanies it is pretty bland, but I eat them because momma told me not to waste food, but it's pretty much like eating water. I haven't had a boba tea I didn't like. They have a huge selection, so there's something for someone. With that said, they also have the best boba, like the champagne of all bobas. I've been to Artea a few times and I've really enjoyed it! They have a huge menu and tea selection, and I appreciate all the nondairy milk tea options they have. Generally the wait time is not long (under 10 minutes) and the wait for items is also generally in that window - I tend to go at night which is when they're slower. I imagine they get incredibly busy during lunch and then after work hours. The staff is really nice, they give me a chance to look at everything without rushing me. The space is a little small, seating can be limited, but if you get there at a quiet time, they have benches on the side where you can plug in and work/study. The food and drinks are good so far! I haven't had a chance to try a lot of food, but the sweet potato fries are crisp and fresh! I loved the presentation of the milk tea but it tasted like most other milk teas I've had. We are avid bubble tea drinkers and this was the BEST bubble tea we have ever had anywhere. We are visiting from Austin and got their bubble tea 2x over 5 hours. Both of their mango drinks were superb. I highly advise. I appreciate the food options they have. Nothing was bad but if you're going JUST to eat, I would recommend going somewhere else. In my personal opinion there isn't a wide range of great boba options in San Antonio, but I would confidently say that Artea is up there in terms of great tasting boba with a large/diverse menu of drinks and snacks. During my most recent visit to San Antonio I had to stop by and was greeted by friendly and polite staff at the shop although it hurt my soul being called "Sir" by a couple of employees. Come on now, I'm still in my 20s! Regardless I really like how they have uncommon drinks such as winter melon teas to butterfly pea flower drinks. I opted for the Creme Brulee Milk Tea with Boba ($7.25 total) in their largest size with a side of Pot Stickers ($7.50). I enjoyed the Creme Brulee Milk Tea and their boba had the perfect chewy texture. I do wish they used a dome lid instead of sealing the lid because some of the creme brulee got stuck to the seal. It also made it a little harder to stir the drink. Usually drinks at most shops with a creme brulee or cheese foam on top would have a dome lid, but its not a huge deal. The drink overall on regular sweetness is quite sweet, obviously. That's like saying water is wet, but you could adjust the sweetness for their drinks excluding their specialties. Their tea is also pretty tasty even if it isn't the strongest. 8.5/10 The Pot Stickers are pan seared although do appear more deep fried. The sauce that comes with it is a little sweet and wish it was more savory, but it was still pretty tasty and I wouldn't mind getting it again. You can really taste the filling and there is a nice crisp to them. The cucumbers on the side are honestly pretty nice to eat in between bites of the pot stickers. I'd give them a 8/10 overall even if they aren't anything too unique. I'd recommend going here if you ever are in need of boba in San Antonio as this is a top 3 option in this city. read more

They have such a long list of boba for all taste buds. If you're craving something sweet, their Brown Sugar Boba is a great fix. Not only are the drinks good, the food is also amazing. It's hard not to spend a lot at this location, because you simply want to try everything! It's hard to leave with just one bowl when all the sharables are just as tasty. They are currently under construction so the ambiance isn't the prettiest but I'm sure it will be 10x better with the expansion. It is a very simple meal but sometimes the most simple meals are all you need to satisfy your craving. In this case, the pork belly did just that. The drinks were my favorite part. The winter melon basil drink was very refreshing. The taro milkshake was my favorite because they use actual taro root (not the artificial powder) and it makes it taste that much more authentic. The mango coconut paradise was creamy and very cooling (I really appreciated the real mango chunks). All the drinks were really well balanced, not too sweet despite that you can't customize the sugar or ice level. I only wish this place was in Austin since I am not a local and traveling from Austin. Boba in SATX has been in a state of constant flux (#1) during the last decade, but places like Artea are ensuring that there is change on the horizon. Since opening their doors just two years ago, they've become one of the most popular boba spots in the entire city. Given all that they offer from drink variety to snacks / food, they're about as complete as Taiwanese inspired boba cafes can get at this point. They're busy almost all the time. Whether it's from people ordering from delivery services or directly through an app, it's pretty impressive that they've been able to churn out all they have. I think every time I've been here there's been at least a 10-15 min wait. The lines vary all throughout the day and the seating is sparse enough to warrant a small group and spread out enough to feel safe while doing it. From a drinks perspective, I appreciate the variety. Their signature milk tea is classic, but I've been a red bean matcha latte devotee for awhile now. Their oolong milk tea is also quite good and the infamous Okinawa kokuo sugar boba latte is truly as sweet as it sounds. I do appreciate the fact they serve the drinks in the extra wide containers for added boba fun. I think their cloud cream based drinks are also a hit and are perfect for a treat during hot weather months (#2). The drinks overall range from average to good, but I'm always trying new ones to get to the next level. I won't lie, I'm extremely impressed with the food. Their version of the Taiwanese popcorn chicken is mildly addicting and makes for the perfect snack. I was not expecting the gua bao to be so tasty but the price tag of $7.50 makes me less inclined to get it each time. The spicy edamame is a nice surprise for me and packs plenty of heat as well. I am not particularly fond of the pot stickers and/or udon, but I have enjoyed the wings and their hearty'ish bowl of teriyaki chicken, which comes with a soft boiled egg for good measure. For the most part service is nice and there are a lot of folks working behind the counter and in the back. Slow pick up and long wait times has made the overall experience a little less than ideal, but manageable. I went in around 9:30 PM and had to wait around 10-15 minutes for my drink (they notify you before you order if it does take that long). I've tried their signature milk tea and their taro milkshake. The signature milk tea is very good; although a little too heavy on the milk. You can really taste the black tea. Their taro milkshake is a little grainy, because they use real taro, and also is sweet. I would only go to this place for the vibes.
