The staff here are SO sweet. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I will absolutely be back just for that! My server Luis was absolutely wonderful. The food was very good. As you can see from the pictures I have the taco plate. The taco was so full. I couldn't put sour cream or lettuce on it, but it was delightful with the shredded beef. My daughter got the white sands chimichanga. She said it was so big she was for sure. Gonna get another meal out of it and maybe two. We really enjoyed the food. Service was awesome. Horrible order on Uber eats and it was delivered directly to me less than a mile and a half away. The bag was still hot when I got it so that wasn't the issue. I ordered a ground beef burrito and a red chili burrito they were both supposed to come with sauce and neither one of them did thus making the food basically inedible. They were kind enough to throw in a bag of chips, but no salsa either so there was no way to eat the burritos because I have nothing at my house currently to add to them. My wife ordered a chicken plate with veggies and it comes with rice and a side of rice They never sent her the rice and the veggies looked like they heated them up in the microwave. We found this restaurant after doing some shopping in the area. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but, inside it's all quintessential Mexico! We were seated right away and our server was quick on the draw with a margarita order and the most delicious chips, salsa & spicy bean dip!!! I'm not a big portion gal so I just ordered an a la carte spinach enchilada with green sauce and it was amazing!! Hubby got the Carlsbad Stuffed Chicken Breast...and OMG, we're definitely going back for this one! The chicken was perfectly grilled over a fire, and stuffed with fajita veggies and topped with a spicy white queso sauce. (It was such a large meal we just enjoyed the leftovers for breakfast)! While getting my vehicle serviced at the tire shop next door and also feeling a little famished I thought, "that Arribas place might be good, I'll go give it a try." Unfortunately, in a sea of infinite Mexican food restaurants within the greater Phoenix area, Arriba Mexican Grill is simply just "another one of those places." There's also the awkward restaurant layout that has you ascending/descending a multitude of levels in order for you to get to your table, but I guess the restaurant is indeed called ARRIBA ("up" in English). I ordered the White Sands Chimichanga which sounded good in theory, however the execution was simply poor. The over fried tortilla, lack of seasoning, and dry pork combination left the chimi less than desirable. At least the tortilla chips were good, but lets be honest, that is very difficult to mess up. The service was also not bad; the waiter took their time to describe their specials and also checked up on us at appropriate intervals. Considering there are literally 5 Mexican restaurants in a 3 mile radius of Arriba that I would much rather prefer, I definitely will not dine here again. read more

Enjoyed a mid week lunch here while in Phoenix. The inside has a very authentic Mexico vibe; decor, wall art, music,etc. They weren't busy and the kind hostess sat us immediately, just outside the bar. The waitress was very welcoming, met us at the table with waters and complementary chips & salsa. We started with the queso dip (good flavor) + side of green chilies that we added to the queso, making it extra spicy (yum). For lunch, I ordered the pollo con queso-- shredded white chicken, wrapped in a fried burrito topped with jalapeño cream cheese and melted cheese on top. Visited on New Year's Day. Place was empty, just a patron at the bar and another table of eaters. Service was pretty good. Food was good and reasonably priced. Chips and salsa were good, had to request a spicier salsa for our taste. Ordered the New Mexico enchiladas- green with chicken. Flavor was great and they packed some chicken in there! I've ordered this dish before from this location and the arrowhead location. Stopped ordering because there was definitely no meat. A business associate and I stopped for a late lunch after a meeting. We were greeted and initially shown to a booth in the very back of the restaurant next to the restrooms. The sewage stench was unbearable, we went back upfront and asked for different seating. We were politely shown to a booth in a different section of the restaurant. There were very few people in the restaurant as it was about 130 to 1:45 in the afternoon when we arrived. Our drink order was taken. We were brought chips, etc., noticing that we had been seated directly under a speaker playing music loud enough that normal conversation was somewhat difficult. We waited a full 20+ minutes; actually discussing paying for the ice tea and going elsewhere before we saw another person. Eventually, our waitress did come back, take our food order. We both ordered off the lunch menu. I had ordered the poco Pollo con queso. Description said a golden brown chimichanga topped with two types of cheese, etc.; the chimichanga had not been fully fried and the two types of cheese were slices slapped on top. The entire plate with the exception of the lettuce and tomato had been microwaved to the point of being too hot to be edible. It was not just your average fresh hot meal on a hot plate, this had been overheated in a microwave, it's not difficult to tell. Although I don't remember exactly what she ordered. My associate's meal was subpar, as well. During this entire time we were dealing with very persistent flies. Not acceptable, especially in an indoor restaurant. We both gave up trying to eat anything and waited for our waitress to show up again with the check. She brought the check, saw the uneaten food and walked away never asking if we had enjoyed the meal or wanted takeout containers or if there had been any problems with the food. When she came back to pick up the check, she brought a dirty plastic bowl with a few assorted, wrapped candies in it. Sadly, they looked like leftovers from several Halloweens ago. Disappointed I'd like to start on a positive note and say the service at Arribas Mexican Grill is really good, however, I feel terrible saying the food was a disappointment. On this visit my lunch companion and I ordered the taco special, 2 tacos with rice and beans. The tacos as well as the rice and beans really lacked any flavor and the taco shells were somewhat over cooked as were the chips. The shredded beef taco was okay but the chicken taco was very dry and not very good, had to leave that one on my plate. Maybe we caught Arribas on an off day and have to revisit on a diffrent occasion and give this place another try. read more

This is my go-to "I can't decide" family sit-down Mexican place. The service is so friendly and they prepare food FAST. Food is solid, good, and the portions are generous. The chimichanga is definitely 2 meals. I love that they mark spice levels on the menu and they are not joking - even the "1 chili" items are HOT. I made the mistake once of ordering something with "2 chilis" and I could not eat it because it was too spicy, but also delicious. I was so conflicted :) They have some New Mexico-style items, which are great. The decor is colorful and the typical "family Mexican restaurant" vibe. Parking is easy. Sodas are LARGE and refills come fast. It's definitely a regular in our rotation. read more

Once upon a time, this spot was the reigning champ of Mexican eats in Phoenix, but lately, it's been a bit of a wild ride. The last couple of visits have been like a comedy sketch. The first round, our server and I tried to communicate through a universal language of smiles and nods, but somehow I ended up with a cup of shredded cheese instead of queso. Eventually, someone else who spoke our native tongue (English) took over our table, and our original server vanished like a burrito in a buffet line. Round two was even more entertaining. We sat down with high hopes, got our chips (win!), ordered some apps, and then our server pulled a disappearing act worthy of a Vegas magic show. I had to play detective and track him down at the bar to find out where he'd gone. Another server came to the rescue, and miraculously, the vanishing act ended just in time for our original server to pop back up and ask how we were doing. Talk about timing! Props to the bartender who stepped up and saved the night with great service and delicious food--I always go for the Spinach Queso Fundido and the Chicken/Steak Fajitas here. The portions are hearty, and those complimentary chips and salsa are like a warm hug from abuela. Despite the server shuffle, the place oozes Mexican charm with its awesome decor and margaritas that could double as jet fuel (in a good way). However, they might want to send someone in with a mop to tackle the bathroom situation. Let's just say the aroma wasn't exactly "fiesta-friendly." read more
