This is truly a hidden gem in PHX. Family owned and operated. The food is homemade and you can tell. I had the torta Cubana, it was delicious. The service is great, they make you feel like your a regular. I can't wait to go back.

Small place. Decor is minimal, doesn't make sense. Service was good. Have to pay $1 for chips and they were stale. The wait for our food wasn't long. Mole is sweet, menudo was okay, got the caldo de res its not on menu it was a special, the vegetables were mushy they cooked the soup too long, had no flavor, meat was not all there. The panbaso was really good, recommend. Will not be revisiting this place.

Super bad experience!!! Never again will I go to this place!!! Saying my bolillo bread was just grilled not burnt. food has no flavor what so ever and our carnitas burrito only had two small pieces of meat. When I tired telling the owner about the bolillo and burrito she said the bolillo is grilled not burnt and we go off portions owner so called owner offered me to get a discount, nope sorry I will not need your discount because I will not come here again FYI owner and cashier are super rude as well !!!

I jumped in for a quick bite to eat. Quick and easy. The sauces were hot (a little too hot for me, but hey I am white) but good. Would definitely come back. Felt authentic as well. +5

Dorado chicken tacos with rice and beans (to-go)

It bothers me to see that someone reviewed this Mexican food spot and claimed that the rice has no flavor. Totally false. For authentic Mexican rice, it's on point. You want 30 ingredients in your rice like Chilis, go to Chilis. If you want straight-forward, great tasting Mexican food, you go to El Nopalito. I had the dorado chicken tacos (fried corn tortilla to make hard shell tacos) rice, beans, salsa and paid under $7. The tacos were perfectly crispy, simple flavor in the chicken and topped with a shredded lettuce/tomato salad with quest freso and drizzled sour cream. Just like my mama would serve it. The food is always consistently good, prices are right, and the ladies are always so hospitable. It is an easy go-to for me, when I'm missing my mama's rice and beans. The place is small, but it was full of taco lovers of all kinds. All I've enjoyed my 4 visits at El Nopalito were the street tacos & dorados - I'll try the enchiladas on the next run.

Found this little gem for lunch today. The tacos were absolutely delicious and at $1.25 I had to order two more. Yum

Stumbled into this Establishment as motel hotel was nearby and I did not want the standard fast food joints. I had there tacos. They are like street Tacos at $1.25 each. They were absolutely delicious. I ordered a couple more after my first four. So good. Just the basics on the inside, nothing special but nothing needed to be either. The waitress was very attentive during the entire time. Go enjoy this place.

Holy crap this place is good! So good, it may have taken my new #1 spot (in my heart) for my favorite Mexican Food Place. Pros: - Spicy is actually really spicy. - Food is really good! - Service is very good too. Already making plans to come back...

    Al Pastor burrito

I have to agree with Dan in saying that the staff didn't seem too excited to be here on the weekend. I came in on a Saturday for a quick lunch before running errands and I was pretty excited after the rave reviews that I read. Unfortunately, as soon as I was seated and started munching on the chips, I was disappointed. They were bland and a bit cold. I didn't let that totally bash my excitement though; I just salted them a little and enjoyed. The salsas were interesting; they were very fresh tasting, but lacked any sort of explosive flavor that I was expecting (The red is much better than the green). With the bland chips, it wasn't much of a pairing, but with the salted chips, I was pleased. For lunch I ordered an al pastor burrito and a barbacoa sope. The burrito was awesome! I actually really liked that it wasn't huge. What it lacked in size, it made up for in flavor. The barbacoa on the other hand, wasn't as good. On the menu it says that barbacoa is only served on Saturday and Sunday. This is apparently because El Napolito's barbacoa is made with lamb. I've had plenty of barbacoa before and I was expecting to be blown away...especially after having some great al pastor, but I wasn't. The meat was really gamy, like really gamy. Salsa and a little salt were needed to make my sope enjoyable, and that was a shame. I would return to El Napolito, but there are loads of great little Mexican places in the area that I'll be stopping by first.

This place is a top tier taco place here in the valley. The staff have been there for over a decade and do a great job.

I'm so glad we finally went to try Casa Corazon. We met with a friend visiting from out of town…read moreduring lunch, and everyone absolutely loved it. The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

The restaurant has a small bar of three seats to enjoy some drinks.. initially we were just going to have margaritas for six dollars during happy hour but decided to have guacamole as well for $10 on happy hour. Guacamole was excellent and came with a bean dip. To complement, our guacamole and chips we checked out the salsa bar. The salsa bar has over six choices of salsa. One of my favorite salsas was hibiscus. We enjoyed our quick happy hour so much that we hope to come back for dinner as I see Mole is on the menu. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I hear that they have open a second venue not too far from the original place. They have an event venue. Their original place is in a former church. The architecture inside is very interesting due to the roof structure.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
