So if there were no stars I would give it that, the food here is beyond expensive and just not good. There is no AC in the building so if you want to dine in a swampy 85 degree weather inside do so. We ordered three meals one was enchiladas montadas. I had to return it was so gross, greasy, tons of salt the hashbrowns were inedible. The so called burrito was dripping in grease. Very hesitant to come here based off reviews not being recent. So glad my bf brought us here off of recommendations from co workers. The horchata was some of the best I've had. They had fresh concha's which were amazing. My son ordered the breakfast burrito which he said tasted great. Even took the leftovers home and ate them later. I ordered the chilaquiles which were actually spicy but with a delicious flavor. All in all, don't judge a book by its cover. Definitely will come again soon read more

My son and I went there for brunch. It was busy and full. We ordered the french toast with eggs, bacon, and hash browns, a quesadilla with a salad that had lettuce, avocado, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I had the enchilada montada (w green sauce) with a latte. Very good! It came with refried beans and hash browns. The latte was very smooth and had a hint of mocha. My only suggestion would be whole beans as a side option rather than refried (and perhaps just whole beans). It's a small place with comfortable booths and a homey atmosphere and good service. We went for lunch and they had a fair number of customers. My husband ordered a pork burrito. Not sure why they call it a burrito because it isn't. You get meat with a tortilla on the side. He said it was just ok. I had the chihuahua burger which is huge. I ordered my burger well done but it arrived more in the medium category and didn't appear to have been seasoned with anything. It was topped with a very good cheese though and I think a green salsa maybe. I couldn't tell. We like to support our local restaurants and hope it makes it but it wasn't really for us. Our bill without tip was $38.00. For a $44.00 lunch of a burger, plate of meat and 2 Cokes, there are better options around town. read more

Server was great but a couple of them were new to the business so a little slow. I would expect that to improve greatly once they gain a little experience. Food was disappointing. Service was also a disappointment. We had about 3 different waitresses and it was a constant waving them down for things because they wouldn't check on our table. Take away points after expressing dissatisfaction to manager: "All the bread is like that (burnt) because we make it in batches" "Did you want your hash brown back it was only a little?" (After asking to have my eggs remade they simply cooked the same eggs and returned those without my hasbrown) It was like the twilight zone. You walk in and you don't know what excuse they'll come up with next! The manager did make an effort to fix things. She allowed us to replace the burnt torta with something else. And when it was time to pay they were trying to charge us for the replacement meal. Anyway, it was more stressful then a hog being chased by a bacon eating hillbilly. Yo entendo espanol completo. Now, about the food... it's disgusting. I ordered a classic cheeseburger. It came on a toasted bun that was stale, small traces of mayonnaise, burnt bacon, and a burnt burger that had a spoiled taste to it like the meat was already going bad before they cooked it. The fries are super greasy over cooked and cold when I got them. By far this is the worst place I've ever eaten. I ate here 14 years ago and I'm pretty sure it's not the same owner or management because the service and the food sucks compared to the high quality it had years ago. We had just flown in from FL and were headed north, but starving. The nearest spot on my app was The Lunch Box. This inconspicuous place was pretty good! Americana w a mexican flair. I split the pancake combo breakfast w my daughter- plenty of food and good flavor (the salsa kicked my butt). My husband ordered the steak burrito with beans and cheese and it was awesome. Surprisingly, my son topped us all with a killer burger that was delicious and came w fresh hot, crispy fries (seriously good fries). All for $37! Cant beat it. Susy was a delight to boot. read more

To start off, I would like to say I have always absolutely loved this place. Every time I come in I see the same couple waitresses/cashiers and they are always so sweet. The food is really good, and has authentic taste. The chilaquiles are my favorite as well as the bistec burrito. Today I came in to get a bistec burrito for me & a picadillo burrito for my boyfriend. The lady told us they were out of it, which is ok, so we ordered the chilaquiles rojos. The reason I had to knock down 2 stars is for an interaction with the owner. A couple seconds later, the owner walks in and is very nice to me. However, a homeless man walked in and they gave him a bottle of water and a pastry, which I believe was really kind of them. But as the homeless man walked out the owner made some very rude comments about him and just about homeless people in general that made us very uncomfortable. He made dehumanizing comments and said that "you can take the hunger away from them, but the not the crazy" and then proceeded to compare homeless people to cockroaches. And then expected us to laugh with him. Then his friend was in the restaurant and he proceeded to yell at the kitchen staff to make his friend a bistec burrito... and they did. When I was just told they were out, I don't blame the waitress because she may not have known or they were really low on it. Probably just a miscommunication but I do think it was rude to serve a food I just ordered in front of me after telling me it was out. He also proceeded to have a conversation with his OLDER friend, keep in mind they are both 30-50 years old, and tells his friend they need to get him a 20 year old girlfriend. Another really alarming thing, its that we are in the middle of a pandemic and there is people and full families eating in their lobby, It is april 25 and this is quite literally not allowed right now! (ALL THESE PEOPLE WERE IN THE RESTAURANT WHILE HE WAS HAVING CONVERSATIONS ABOUT CORONA VIRUS) He did very quickly tell the homeless man to leave though, of course. Due to them being swapped, I wasn't greeted or given an estimated time before we were seated so we eventually left. I've loved the Lunch Box for years. It has some of the best food, provided you get the right cook, or a cook who cares that day. The prices are so low, we just gamble on it expecting one dish to be burnt, or messed up. The food is legit amazing. The owner is friendly, and awesome as well. Just has to be your thing to not have high hopes of everything being perfect every time. Because it won't be. Your food will literally be completely burnt, and they will send it out to you as coal. The lady that took my order was rude and short with a attitude, she also changed out all of the trash bags and counted her tip money where the food goes, change out the salsa and then had the audacity to touch all of silverware with her dirty hands and then bring me my food, take other peoples orders and serve them like that too. I never thought that "Lunch Box" was all about Mexican food. The prices are not that high. Every time I go to place where they "sell Mexican food" I expect home made beans but mostly places (including Lunch Box) serve canned beans . Also, in most plates they put "cheese" in top of the food ( bad thing is not Mexican cheese). I must admit I really like their orange juice but at some point I realized that it was mostly blended ice, it will be better if they add more orange rather than ice. Since this place usually gets packed we visited it at 6 AM, a lot of cops go to this place. Customer service was OK, the man who took our order was friendly. I was very pleased to find the Lunch box within 2 miles of my house! The food was great, service was friendly and quick at a great price. We had the juevos rancheros and the chorizo burger.
