I could not give this place the full 4 stars that I wanted to but def is a 3.5 because after dinning at other Michelin star restaurants the ambiance did not feel Michelin like and that typically what people come for when they see the rating as they are also paying the price for it. That being said, i did enjoy the food overall and it was flavorful. For the appetizer, we got the ghost chili chicken, Paratwala Paneer, and Kurkuri Bhel. We enjoyed all of them however be warned that the ghost chili chicken is spicccccyyyy! Like you def feel the burn on the tongue. I was only able to eat half of one but my friends digged in! For the entrees we ordered, paneer tikka masala, fenugreek murgh, and the butternut squash kofte with garlic naan. All of it was good but I would say the paneer tikka masala is a little bit on sweeter side...so incase your not into it now you know. Also the entree's came with rice which was nice and much appreciated. At first we were hesitant on the butternut squash kofte but it was really good and different. For dessert we got the hazelnut chocolate flute and raas malai. Def skip the raas malai its average. The hazelnut choco flute is where it's at. We actually ended up ordering another one. Lastly, i didn't love the drinks we got so no recommendations there but everyone has diff taste buds. Overall I will say I definitely enjoyed the food but was expecting more from an ambiance as its a Michelin star restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating as my friend had her baby with us. We definitely appreciated how it was a baby friendly restaurant. Came here for dinner. Ordered the palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, as appetizers we got the ghost pepper chicken and the cassava root pearls and potato Pattie's (delicious). We also got the gulab jamun in pudding for dessert. The ghost pepper chicken was insanely spicy and I usually always ask for the spiciest never truly content at the spice level, but this dish immediately broke me out into a sweat so beware. We came to Aroqa on a Thursday evening with a party of 4. The restaurant is very nice and located in the Chelsea / Hell's kitchen area. If you're vegan there are a lot of great options and of course if you're not a vegan there are even more options :) The drinks menu is great - there Old Fashion 206 has date and raisin infused bourbon. It's very good and deceivingly strong. I had the following which were all vegan and wonderful: - Smoked Eggplant - with fenugreek spiced parata (excellent) - Corn Paddu - corn and rice fritters, coconut kaffir, lime chutney (excellent) - Vegetable Biriyani (vegan) - saffron veggies, basmati rice, spices and crispy onion (fantastic) - Aroqa Okra Special - whole okra tossed with chefs special spices (fantastic) - Breads (onion seed was the best) - Coconut Kheer - mango sorbet, jaggery emulsion, almond flakes (very good) I loved all the food and would definitely go back as there's more to try. Happy hour until close!! Not many places have happy hour past 7 but come to this place for drinks! There were a few options at $8 each and I loved the margarita and Long Island. Max, our bartender was SO nice and gave us great recommendation. Food - we got the kataifi mushroom and the bhatti murge. Both really delicious but definitely slightly pricy for the portion. We liked everything from the menu that we ordered. The restaurant isn't huge but has plenty of tables, indoors and outdoors. The ambiance is modern and service is exceptional. Solid, good Indian food. We started with the fried cauliflower - Lasuni Gobi (aka gobi manchurian) - it had a strong garlic flavor which I loved, but a tad bit sweet. The basil fish tikka was well-cooked and tender. For entrees, the Palak Paneer was my fave. Paneer were served as fried fritters added to a spinach sauce without a ton of butter or cream. Delicious, reliable spot for Indian food! They try to make their presentation and atmosphere a little more "elevated" than your typical Indian food joint, and I would say it's successful. The prices are correspondingly also a little higher, but overall worth it for consistently good food that is very vegetarian-friendly. Went here for dinner on Friday and had made reservations for a table for 6 for 7 pm. The place was relatively quiet at 7 and we were seated on our table. The seating itself was a bit tight, but we managed to seat somehow! The hostess was friendly and welcoming. For drinks, I ordered the Right Bank ($16) which wasn't that great and lacked that punch in the drink that I was looking for. Presentation was pretty good though. I did all the ordering for our table and we got a few amazing appetizers which included Lasuni Gobi ($12), Habanero Tikka ($13), Kasundi Prawns ($16), Bhatti Murgh Ki Champ ($16), and Paratwala Paneer ($12). All appetizers were absolutely delicious and the Bhatti Murgh was a clear winner. The way they serve it and the flavors of this dish were absolutely mind blowing. It wasn't that spicy at all either, so spice level was manageable on this dish. Lasuni Gobi and Kasundi Prawns were our 2nd favorites. For mains we ordered 4 entrees between the 6 of us, which was sufficient food and included Dal Makhani ($18), Butternut Squash ke Kofte ($20), Fenugreek Murgh ($21), and Chicken Tikka Masala ($22). We also ordered Garlic Naan and Butter Naan ($4 each) and a Paneer aur Hari Mirchi Kulcha ($7). Fenugreek was my personal favorite with a nice spice kick to the dish but Chicken Tikke Masala with heavy cream on the side was a table favorite and disappeared within a few seconds after hitting our table! We finished off with 2 desserts, aRoqa Daulat Ki Chaat ($10) and Coconut Kheer ($10). The Kheer was a little too sweet to our liking, but the Daulat ki Chaat was absolutely delicious. Masala dosa - Perfectly crisped and flavorful. My wife loved the sambhar that accompanied. Lasuni Gobi - This was a hit. I could have eaten a truckful of it with that sweet sauce. Serving it in an actual toy truck was unique. Bhatti Murgh Ki Champ - It's basically Tandoori Chicken. It's also phenomenal. Quite the kick in the seasoning but just enough to make it interesting. Ordered delivery as I have seen such great reviews on food. Ordered the Lasuni Gabi, Paneer Tikka Masala, and Dal Makhani. My order was not cheap. I was shocked when I saw the portion of Lasuni Gobi (cauliflower) and found literally 5 florets for $16 dollars, and I counted because it was literally visible. The price does not match the dish. It was also soggy. The Paneer Tikka Masala was beyond average. The paneer was extremely hard and again portion to a $23 dish was not worth it. This didn't taste like a rich dish that was described. It was super sweet with hard blocks of cheese. The Dal Makhani which is deemed to be the most hearty entree you can eat, tasted like a bowl of lentils drowned cooked in ginger and ginger only. There was no taste to the dish except eating a bowl of ginger. I have dined and ordered in many Indian restaurants and for the price I found the food to be below average. There are restaurants that continue to make amazing food that is always consistent. This isn't Tamarind, Baar Baar, Bhatti Grill worthy for the price. read more

Long due but this is such an amazing restaurant - almost dramatic like Bollywood - that I had to share my experience! I love going to high-end restaurants and this is one of the few upscale Indian restaurants that make it to my favorites. First off, the service here is impeccable. They make you feel so special right from serving drinks to dinner and through dessert. We especially got really really good service, the manager kept checking in on us and were seated at probably the best table in the restaurant. It was at the back of the restaurant and really private so we had a fantastic time. The kind of creativity they put in presentation is definitely one of the best, pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the drinks and food look here. We had a few cocktails but my favorite was Shadowplay - it comes in a ceramic pot with the drink itself in the top half and dry ice in the bottom half. The bottom half also has perforations and you can see the vapor coming out of them - looks incredible! Food here is not only presented beautifully, but it also tastes delicious. We had the Bhatti Murgh Ki Champ, Kasundi Prawns and Kurkuri Bhel for appetizers. Bhatti Murgh comes on a small cart and is smoked with fire in front of you - definitely try it. We also thoroughly enjoyed our main course - Butter chicken and Dum ki Nalli - would highly recommend the lamb. What I loved most is that the portion sizes are perfect here. The menu also offers traditional dishes although be warned they may offer a contemporary spin, e.g. the palak paneer included cubes of the paneer (cottage cheese) that were deep fried.
