PROs - location, meat curry , naan CONs - slightly expensive , service , vegetarian curry , ambience First timer . Was walking by 34th street and was craving Indian food . Saw this place via Google reviews and wanted to try . I don't think it is a 4 star restaurant like in Google reviews. For me it is 2.5 star restaurant but gave it 3 stars . I actually didnt like ambience much . They play gurunanak song (high sound) and it was like a temple . I liked the music , but wanted a better ambience in a restaurant.. thali was about 20$ plus tax/tips - 26$ . There are so many other restaurants in Lexington which is much better and cheaper . Service was average ! The guy didn't even give water till after 10 mins when I asked him. Took about 20-25 mins for the food to come .. place had a bar too.. . Naan was good . Meat curry was good too. Like home made . Vegetarian curry wasn't good . It was sweeeeeeeeet . Didn't eat the veggie food much . Dhal was ok . Overall a very average experience and will probably not go back .

This restaurant feels like a hidden gem. The food here is great, everything is freshly made and you can tell the chef really enjoys what he is making. We had some family visiting from India who had a very specific diet (Jain - no root vegetables) and the chef was able to accommodate us. The food was well seasoned and spiced and was a good quantity for the price. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. A few things, the restaurant looks a little run down, it just needs a small make over. The glassware and dishware looks old and has a lot of scratches on it. I also think the bathrooms need to be properly cleaned. They smelled so bad - it was hard to even go in there to wash our hands. The doors also stick and don't close all the way and the smells can travel to your table if you're close enough. Insta: @TheShahLALand

Food was very delicious & flavorful. Space was small & intimate. Service could have been better but they were polite for the most part.

This review is for takeout. I have always wanted to find affordable Indian food but it's usually so expensive! The $15 Lunch Box option at Masala King is SO worth it, and we got it at night for dinner! I will order from here again if I ever want Indian food! We got: Two Lunch Boxes ($15 ea) - comes with two entree dishes and rice Garlic naan ($6) - so fluffy, warm, garlicky goodness Vegetable Pakoras ($8) - good, oily and sweet For the two lunch boxes, we got chicken tikka masala x2, chicken korma, and chicken saagwala. All were really good. I especially liked the saagwala. I thought their chicken tikka was a tad too sweet. All in all it was a delicious dinner and I would totally order again. I would love to try the samosas next time.

My friend and I were craving some delicious comfort food when we stumbled upon this place. We made reservations online through their website, but ended up arriving half and hour early, and was able to get seated right away. The restaurant is located very conveniently super close to the 6 train and is in a great location. Ambience was nice and spacious . They have both indoor and outdoor dining options available which is nice. It was way too cold and windy so we decided to dine indoors. For our appetizers we ordered the veggie samosas and bhel puri. Both were delicious. For our entrees we ordered the lamb korma, chicken tikka masala which both came with rice and we also ordered two garlic naans. The portions were great and the meat was super tender and juicy. The food was extremely flavorful. We both especially loved the fresh garlic naan that you can see being made in the tandoor oven. The food definitely felt authentic and not like those fusion Indian/American spots, which I appreciated. The only thing that fell short for me was the service. It was okay but not amazing. That is the only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars and not 5. Overall, really enjoyed the food there and would definitely go back when I'm craving some good Indian food.

Loved the lunch special which can be vegetarian or chicken and comes with several accompaniments. Generous serving of Nan and they hit all the right flavors. Service was good and I was in and out but didn't feel rushed. I recommend.

I came here with a friend for dinner recently. I passed by this place before, admiring the gorgeous décor for outdoor dining, so I knew I wanted to experience the restaurant for myself. The outdoor dining area was enclosed in a wooden shed-like structure, and there was a pretty, colorful abstract art piece in front. Upon stepping into the shed, there were fairy lights all over, and pink roses on the ceiling and along the sides. This created a beautiful sparkly glowing ambiance. The tables were deep brown wood, and the table setting had white plates, and glittery pink coasters. I decided to get the Mango Lassi, even though at $6, it was more than I normally like to pay for a drink. While the Mango Lassi was nice and creamy, very thick, with a just the right amount of sweetness, and had refreshing mango flavor, the glass it was in was way too small. For the entrée, I ordered the Tandoor Mixed Grill, which included tandoori chicken, tikka, lamb, fish, and shrimp. This was also served with basmati rice. My friend and I also shared the Garlic Naan. I always enjoy trying the Tandoori Mixed Grill, because it lets me sample a little of everything. The lamb was made with tasty spices, as were the chicken. There were only a couple of shrimp, but they were juicy, and packed with yummy seasoning. I think there was also only 1 piece of fish, but it was made perfectly. All the meat was tender, and quite flavorful. The Garlic Naan was served warm, and was fluffy, buttery, slightly crispy, and strong garlic taste. We also went for a classic Indian dessert, Gulab Jamun, which were deep fried cake balls in honey syrup. I was a little disappointed when we received it, because there were only 3 small sized balls. There was whipped cream surrounding them. They simply melted in my mouth and that sticky, sweet honey syrup was so delicious with it. Service was wonderful throughout. The waiter was on top of it and everything was served in a timely manner. I would definitely be open to returning. The Lamb Chops, Salmon or Lamb dishes sound very appetizing.

This is legit my go to Indian spot ! It's a family owned biz and their all super friendly and nice. You can taste the love in their food and cooking! Dont even mention that it's super comforting and not overly spicy. Just the right amount of heat and so flavorful! Ive been bringing all my friends here and they all love it. Chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, paneer saag, samosa chaat, garlic nann, poori & this vegetarian meatball dish (don't know the name but that sauce is crack) Literally to die For! It's a must go & try!

Garlic naan & masala aloo gobi

Delicious food! The masala aloo gobi was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of heat (medium spicy). The garlic naan was both crispy and creamy, fresh from the oven. I would definitely return if I lived here.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

I believe there are other Indian Accent locations in India, and was excited to try their NYC spot. We went on a weekend evening around 5pm and had a really enjoyable experience overall. Nice ambiance inside, didn't feel overly packed where we were sitting. Service was great for the most part. Shane, our main server, stood out and he was SUPER helpful in walking us through the menu and making thoughtful suggestions. That said, it's definitely a team-service setup, so multiple staff members will assist your table throughout the meal. Everyone had great energy and made the experience feel polished. We did the prix fixe menu and went with 3 courses each across our group of 3. Two of us opted for the "midis" and one went for dessert, but we ended up sharing everything. Even though the portions initially seem small, we were surprisingly full by the end. One important note: go into this with an open mindset. This is not your typical, "generic" Indian food experience - it's much more modern, creative, and experimental. We did a lot of research before deciding what to order, so here's what we got/ordered: Amuse bouche (complimentary): A pumpkin shorba (soup) served in a cute little cup and blue cheese naan. Both were a great start, and we actually asked for more of the shorba. They said they'd bring it, but it never came, which was a bit disappointing, but still appreciated the palate cleanser concept. Appetizers (ordered 3): * Phulka jackfruit: Kind of like a taco - really nice flavor with these crispies on it and a nice sauce. * Kashmiri morel mushrooms: I'm not usually a mushroom person, but this was excellent. Loved the creamy base and overall flavor. * Potato sphere chaat: Probably the weakest of the three. It was more sev than potato, and didn't quite hit for me. Midis (ordered 2): * Yogurt kebab: Very interesting texture with a nice chutney base * Sweet pickle pork: I didn't personally try it, but the other two in my group loved it Mains (ordered 3): * Sweet corn vadai: Really unique and flavorful - one of the standouts * Paneer kofta: Not my favorite; different from what I expected * Chicken tikka meatballs: Surprisingly good! I don't usually love meatballs, but these had a great texture and flavor Accompaniments (ordered 3): * Butter chicken kulcha: Easily my favorite - would come back just for this, but note it can be a little "greasy" * Daal with black garlic naan: The naan was unique with a slightly sweet taste; the daal could've used a bit more depth * Chana masala kulcha: A little spicy but still very flavorful Dessert (ordered 1 + 1 complimentary): * Banana sticky date cake: A lovely, satisfying end to the meal * Makhan malai (complimentary for a birthday in our group): Very airy and unique texture - not really for us personally, but appreciate the team supporting our birthday celebration We skipped drinks even though the menu is extensive - we wanted to focus on the food Overall, I really liked this place. The dishes were a mix - nothing was outright bad (except maybe the makhan malai for our taste), but not everything was a hit either. Still, it's a fun, elevated dining experience with creative takes on Indian cuisine. I'd definitely go back, especially for the butter chicken kulcha. Only real miss was the forgotten re-order of the amuse bouche, but otherwise service and vibes were strong.
