It's been awhile since I've had Indian food. So when I was walking in the theater district and spotted the pretty decor, I knew I had to check it out. We were greeted by a friendly staff and they were really patient and explained the dishes to us. The menu had a good variety of dishes. There were so many items that I wanted to get but decided on these: We ordered: FAR FAR (complimentary) LASOONI KEBAB - Chicken Thigh, Garlic, Cilantro, Green Chili | Pineapple Chutney SALMON TIKKA TANDOORI - Mustard Potatoes | Tomato Chutney ROTI RASMALAI - (popular Indian dessert) non-melting Indian cottage cheese.

I'll be honest, I just didn't enjoy the food that much. The curries/sauces were universally lackluster across the butter chicken, chicken korma, lamb kofta etc. I'm usually the kind of person who ignores the meat and just goes straight to rice and curry, but they were all just kind of the same bland sweet flavor. The naan was good. The samosas and tandoori shrimp were bland. The achari mushroom was pretty good. Service was nice and we were able to walk in Sunday evening with plenty of space, so it was a nice spot to hang out with a big group (7 people) spontaneously.

the IG paid adds strike again! Happy hour everyday until 630. we got drinks & food on there. this is only at the bar, theres about 12 seats. $5 margaritas-good, not too strong but they hit the spot $4 indian beers, nice to try. *other drink specials, check the menu. samosas are always a must get, they give you 4 or 5 to a happy hour order. the fried paneer is a must get, i loved these. its their indian take on a mozz stick (i prefer these) chicken 61 & and fried fish pakora are also a must get a please share. great staff & even better bar tender. i would come back in a heart beat!

Very pretty interior and attentive service with personable servers. And the food. Delish. We had shrimp biryani. Spiiiiiicy and yummy. Also Lamb Korma, Palak Paneer and Naan. All really good. Lovely dinner all around.

Tucked right in the heart of NYC's buzzing Theatre District, Saar NYC isn't just dinner -- it's a full-on flavor production. We kicked things off with a round of show-stopping appetizers -- beetroot cutlets, chaat, paneer chilli, prawn balchao, chicken tikka and kebabs so tender. Then came the main event: rich, soul-hugging pistachio chicken, fragrant Cochin black pepper chicken, and a smoky, unforgettable kofta curry that honestly deserves its own standing ovation. Of course, we had to pair it all with fluffy assortment of bread basket. Bonus points for the cocktails and mocktails and the service and fun atmosphere! Saar isn't just a place to eat -- it's where theatre lovers meet spice lovers and everyone leaves satisfied.

We came here for dinner and it was amazing! Pros: + Great deal on PULSD - we got 2 drinks, an app, an entree, rice, naan, and dessert for $49 + Samosas were delicious - I loved that they allowed us to mix and match the flavors of the samosas - Paneer lababdar - incredibly delicious - my favorite dish so far + Generous portions - the amount seemed like it would not be enough for two people. However when we got our food, it was much more than we could eat. We even had left overs for another meal. + Friendly staff + Accommodating towards multiple dietary restrictions - drinks can be substituted for mocktails, entrees can be vegetarian/vegan/etc. IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

The food was great and the service was fantastic. This is the perfect spot for dinner between shows but I would definitely make a reservation if you're able to. We were able to get a table as a walk in because they were booked out for dinner for an event but we got there early enough to be seated. Perfect flavors, great naan. I would for sure go back next time I'm in town for a show!

For our first visit here, each choice was excellent. Better than many others we've tried worldwide. The restaurant has an elegant charm, lots of space, clean and inviting. Service was excellent but we were there at 5 pm, so only several patrons. We were starving after a full day of touring NYC, top to bottom. First time for hubby but I lived here decades ago, but still love visiting. We ordered our favorites, Delhi Ka Butter Chicken, Chicken Korma, Garlic Naan, Basmati rice, topped with Saar Mango Lassi. Every dish was perfect in flavor, texture, sauce consistency, etc. We devoured everything. We complimented how much we enjoyed our meal. They were so gracious and brought us several desert dishes as a perfect finish to our meal. Totally enjoyed our visit and wish we could visit more often.

You absolutely have to check out Saar for gourmet Indian food in Manhattan!! Their Michelin awarded chef delivers spectacular dishes - with great options for all spice and dietary preferences, there's truly something for everyone. Each cocktail, appetizer, and entree blew me away, and I will absolutely be back for the black pepper chicken, Chilean sea bass, potato & onion kulcha, and butter chicken! Between the unmatched service and handcrafted cocktails, Saar has solidified itself on my list of "must visit" New York City restaurants!!

A complete surprise such a filling meal was served on Christmas nonetheless! We enjoyed every morsel and the flavors are rich and never ending!

Take-away review The online ordering menu is a little confusing for the lunch option as you have a free form to order what dish you want in the options (Veg $14, non-veg/chicken $15, lamb $16 or seafood $16). The interior is beautifully decorated with open space and pops of color. The staff were very friendly when I came to pick up the order. The food was piping hot and well-packed. The lunch deal of $15 was such a steal!! It came with a good potion of meat, dal, veggie dish, rice, and a huge naan (pictured is only half of it). The naan was extremely fluffy and soft. The korma used chicken thigh pieces and cooked super tender and full of flavor. Definitely will be coming back to try their other dishes.

Overall, I really enjoyed Saar! Service was very fast which was especially helpful because me and my friend had a Broadway show to catch right after! We let them know what time we had to leave by at the beginning of the meal and they were very speedy and accommodating! As for the meal itself, all of the food was super flavorful-- well spiced and delicious. I would highly recommend!

Hidden gem near Times Square. If you're going to a show, it's a great option. The pepper chicken is fantastic and comes with a secret dosa!

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation.
