    Roasted Pumpkin with Eggs.
    Cindy Z.

My friend and I decided to come by for a quick meal while in the area, which was their brunch hour. We came in as walk-ins on a weekend and were seated right away indoors even though they also have a gorgeous outdoor patio space. Since it was our first time, the waiter recommended the Adjaruli Khachapuri ($19) for an shared appetizer and the Beef and Pork Kebab ($26) and Roasted Pumpkin and Eggs ($18) for entrees. We ended up ordering these exact items and the Adjaruli Khachapuri is a must at any Georgian spot. It's essentially cheese, egg, and butter blended right in front of you in a bread bowl. This was quite delightful and not too overpowering and heavy as I thought it would be with all the cheese; but still ideal to share with the table. As for the main dishes, these were just OK to me. The dishes were rather small and pretty standard. Not sure if I'd find myself craving to come back, but the Adjaruli Khachapuri is something worth trying once in your life.

The lychee margarita was divine. The dishes were solid especially, the Smokey cheese with the dips. The bread with the lamb was superior. The rolls served with dip platter were mid.Tables are a bit too close, but that's common. Overall service was pleasant.

Have been here twice and had a great experience both times. The setting is so lovely both inside and outside and the food is great. Pricing is reasonable for a good sit down meal in this part of Manhattan. The khachapuri is so good. Gooey creamy cheese encased in a very nice bread. And yet, the khinkali might somehow have managed to be even better?! The dumpling itself has this really pleasant chewiness to it and the filling is very flavorful. Highly recommend this spot!

In this 12 degree weather, Chama Mama is a great choice if you're craving delicious comfort food. Craving something warm and gooey, hubby and I went with the adjaruli bread. It was divine! Definitely a must have if you've never experienced Georgian food before. Since we went for brunch I went with the roasted mushroom and eggs and hubs went for the lamb kebob. The mushroom and eggs was creamy and decadent and the kebob was super flavorful! Modest sized portions as well. We both left stuffed and agreeing that we got to come back for dinner. Ambiance was super cool too with tile art and a packed room of eager customers. Looking forward to stopping by again in the coming months!

4.3 and rounded up. Delicious Georgian food! Admittedly this is a cuisine I'm not familiar with, though had a good experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a tasty meal. On a weekday evening at 8pm, they were pretty full, at least in the front seating area; there's another section in the back that's spacious and open from what I heard. The staff were attentive and busily working table to table, gave us a quick overview of the menu, took our drink orders then came back to field questions about apps and entrees. Our group ordered: - SHAVI LOMI, GEORGIAN LAGER (16 0Z) $15: I didn't try this though my friend enjoyed. - LIMITED EDITION WINE FLIGHT $20: this came with three wines, they leaned a little sweeter, almost like a drier rieslings but not dry. Were ok. - ROASTED WILD MUSHROOMS $14 x 2: Oyster, shitake, button mushrooms with red pepper and herbs--these were tasty, we got two orders to share. - WINTER GRAIN SALAD $18: Kale, honey, cranberries, warm wheat berries, glazed walnuts, raisins--quite a hearty salad and I really liked it. - ADJARULI KHACHAPURI $19: Adjara cheese boat filled with Chama Mama cheese, egg yolk, butter--lol tastes like what you might think, delectable with ooey gooey cheese, buttery goodness. The bread itself was a bit on the saltier side. - KHINKALI DUMPLINGS $14: beef and pork--this came with 3 dumplings and was essentially like a xiao long tang bao (XLB, aka soup dumpling) with thicker skin for those of you Chinese cuisine eaters. Tender meat with savory soup on the insides, though the dumpling skin on this was really salty almost like a mistake in my mind. - SAPERAVI POMEGRANATE BEEF STEW $32: Beef short ribs, Saperavi wine, pomegranate, tashmijabi cheese potatoes--tasty overall. - KEBAB $26: beef and pork, lavash, satsebeli sauce, spices, barberry--the meat came served wrapped in a flatbread, very savory flavors, would definitely recommend. - CHANAKHI LAMB STEW $38: Lamb shoulder, aubergine, tomato, herbs, Shoti bread--another hearty dish the lamb was cooked very well, no gaminess, the bread again on the saltier side. Do want to add that it looks like their breads are baked in house inside a traditional clay/stone oven, almost like a tandoori oven, very cool. - MEGRULI KHARCHO $26: Walnut sauce, Ghomi grits, Kharcho spices with roasted chicken--the walnut sauce was very creamy and delicious, probably my first time trying something like this, the grits were good too. While we didn't get dessert since we were so full, their honey cake and pelamushi (traditional sweet grape pudding) looked intriguing. They also have after dinner spirits, coffee and tea. Their cocktails look interesting and I'd be curious to try a couple of those next time. Staff were quite accommodating, as we were one of the last couple parties in the restaurant at 10pm when they were closing and they didn't rush us.

I came here with my friend to try out Georgian cuisine. Our waiter was marvelous and explained a lot of the local flavors to us. We sat in the back covered patio that was heated. It was so comfortable in a sunny day. We loved everything we ordered. We couldn't decide what beverages to get, so we got the flight of tricolor Georgian wines: white, Amber, red. I think red was the best. We got the cheese pull, Georgian salad, beef & pork khinkali (soup dumpling), and a sweet cheese bread/pancake with raspberry and strawberry sauce. Everything was amazingly delicious.

Absolutely delicious food: I got the phkali platter and whilst steep at 28 dollars (!!!), it was so good! The portion size was also decent. The menu has the full extent of Georgian delicacies and is super veg friendly. We didn't drink but wine prices for a glass are a whopping 14 dollars when I scanned. I really liked the Christmas music playing, the cosy atmosphere and the gorgeous outdoor seating with twinkling lights and a Christmas tree. Good service, regularly checked in and very efficient.

Chama Mama is a popular Georgian restaurant in Chelsea. It is a beautiful spot overall. I was pleasantly surprised to discover they have a big backroom. I did not notice it at first since I was seated up front. If you are coming with a group, definitely try to get a table back there. The khachapuri is clearly the standout dish here, and for good reason. Try also the Chicken Mtsvadi, which the menu describes as marinated chicken skewers with tarragon tkemali, red onions, and pomegranate. It was really flavorful. The dish came with tkemali, a sour plum sauce that had this interesting fruity-yet-tart flavor. I had never tried it before, but it paired well with the chicken. The server suggested I add the crispy smashed potatoes on the side, and I am glad I listened to him. The service was absolutely fantastic. Honestly, it is one of the better dining experiences I have had in the city.

"If you are nostalgic for the Soviet Union" I'm gonna again break with popular opinion. This just isn't my jam. Outdoor area is overrated. Cheesy egg bread is just ok. The rest of the food feels like anything you could get off the side of the road at remote tea house in Central Asia. What's to cheer - Good kebabs - Large Outdoor space that's well planted. (but weird with an enclosed plexiglass roof) - Good neighborhood What's to jeer - Below par service; it would be faster on island time - food was mediocre - seriously overpriced wine. $27 a glass from a country whose GDP is about the size of the neighborhood

My friend and I had a reservation here for a Monday night. It was busy! We were seated at a small table for two. They brought us water pretty quickly but then took a while to get to us and take drink/food orders. The waitress was helpful with suggesting items from the menu though. We started with some rolls, which were good, but it would have been nice to have butter. The khachapuri was delicious, and the waitress mixed the egg into it for us. She also told us the best way to eat it and the soup dumplings which was helpful. The roast chicken was juicy, and the sauce was delicious. I would definitely come here again!

I tried Georgian cuisine for the first time and was pleasantly delighted by it .We ordered the taste of Georgia which i thought was a beautiful way to sample their bread and cheese .The cheese was infused with different herbs & condiments. We also ordered the bean stew which was just a hearty bowl of happiness. The kachapuri was phenomenal to taste , I also like how they gave me the option of no egg .The restaurant is decently sized yet very cozy .The staff completely understood that it was my first time and so guided me all along and answerd several of my questions patiently .

Roasted Chicken in House Sour Plum Sauce

Chama Mama served pretty interiors and great service throughout the night. The food was new to us and enjoyable too: - Beef and Pork Khinkali (4/5) - a comforting soup concoction oozed out of these bad boys after the first bite. The rest was tender and bland but we were advised to have it with pepper, which definitely jazzed it up. I like the simplicity of this dish. - Roasted Chicken with Sour Plum Sauce (5/5) - really well cooked chicken with a stunning sour plum sauce. Didn't know what I was missing out on until I tried the plum sauce. Needless to say, I paired it with everything else I ate that night. I could bottle it up if they offered. - Khachapuri (5/5) - a luscious cheese blend sat on top of a beautifully prepared crust - yum! Ended the meal with the ice cream with chunks of honey cake. This was a delight, but a tad bit too sweet (4/5). Since I went in a large group, we got two more desserts - Napoleon (5/5) - best I've ever had and I can see myself crave more of these hereafter. Honey Cake (2/5) - bone dry. Maybe it was not done well or maybe it's an acquired taste. Nonetheless, not for me. Overall, a delightful experience!

    Crispy Potatoes with House Tkemali

A Georgian haven in Chelsea with simple but cozy ambiance and authentic Georgian cuisine. The shelves are filled with their extensive Georgian wine collection. The Kisi white wine had a delightful peachy and nectarine undertone. The tableside khachapuri mixing service is performed with panache by the efficient waitstaff. The boiled mushroom khinkali was a flavorful soup dumpling filled with mushrooms, garlic, and herbs. The crispy smashed potatoes were coated in an irresistible plum infused Tkemali sauce with hints of dill, coriander, and garlic. A great introduction to this unique ethnic cuisine.

Are there dairy free options available?

How loud is it at peak dinner hour in the dining room? Is normal conversation comfortable?

It is deafeningly loud. In addition to the live acoustics, they play loud music guaranteeing you have to shout to be heard. Food is ok, but we won’t return because of the noise level.

    Are walk-ins accepted?

Yes! But they do get super busy so reservations are better!

    Are there any vegan options?

    Yes, but not many.

What gluten free options do you have?

    Several good salads and soups

Are there heat lamps on the patio?

Hi Elaine, thank you for your interest in Chama Mama! We are starting the installation of the heaters next Monday. We'll follow up and let you know once the heaters are installed in our patio.

Looking at the menu there seems to be less vegetarian options when it comes to main courses, no?

Shared plates have few vegetarian options, but easy to make a meal of the small plates and khachapuri that offer a variety of veg dishes.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

Tusk Bar inside The Evelyn Hotel feels like stepping into a well-kept secret from another century…read more The space leans fully into that Prohibition-era Art Deco elegance, low lighting, polished brass, velvet everything. It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation. Overall, it's a great spot if you want elevated drinks in a space that feels transportive without being pretentious. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm in the mood for a refined, slightly cinematic night out in Flatiron.

We had an extra person when we checked in and they happily added her to the rez. We just had to wait about 15 mins which was fine. We were seated around 7:30pm. It was busy and bustling in the upstairs bar. We were seated at a spot resembling a coffee table(s) with chairs / ottomans surrounding it. I got the martini. It was a fun play with the green curry and saffron. This place is a little loud, so it is not easy to have a convo with your party. I am old so this probably wouldn't have been something I clocked in my younger years. They do have food which looks intriguing. Especially anything with truffles on it. If in the area, would definitely consider coming back for a quick drink and bite. REVIEW #4013
