I came here for a group dinner with work as well as a cocktail celebration at their downstairs bar. The restaurant is beautiful and has an upscale vibe. The food is also good each time I have gone. They were really great about accommodating our large party and we had a prix fix menu. The presentation of the food and the service was great. The hummus was delicious. My team enjoyed the truffle flat bread. I did not try it but heard it was excellent. We also started with black garlic hummus, which is as excellent and babaganoush. I am very picky about my hummus and babgaboush and I loved Leonetta's. We had veggies as well as pita to dip in the hummus and babaganoush. I really hate to do this, but had to leave this review. The service itself was fine, but it was the manager forcing us out of our table before we were done that just ruined this restaurant for me. We had been at the restaurant for 2 1/2 hours, still ordering drinks and planning to order dessert. But the manager stopped by and told us they needed the table. I understand the need to turnover, but it was closer to closing, there were a 4-top and 6-top empty and open for at least the past hour we were there and still empty when we left. The food was okay, highlight was porkshank - seemed decent value for food to price ratio. The beetroot and baba ghanoush were solid, octopus salad with good flavor. While the upstairs folks will come down for the bathrooms, it's generally a nice, slightly darker space with a bar and open area + seating or a tasting table that you can have them set up (olive, tapas, and small bites are good - the focaccia in particular was savory and salty and delicious). Came here as a party of 8 for 2 birthdays on a Thursday night! When we first walked in, it took us 15-20 minutes to get seated (reservation was at 8:30, seated at 8:50). We had also brought a cake, and they let us know that there would be a cake fee which is typical at restaurants in NYC which was fine. However, given that the restaurant is more aligned with "up-scale" service, I would expected the team to take our cake to the back, especially if we were going to pay a cake fee. Instead, we held it for another 20 minutes while it was melting in our hands, lol. Besides the hostess/check in service, the actual dining service was fantastic. The food was amazing as well. Our server walked us through the menu and his recommendations and they were all hits. We would highly recommend the black garlic hummus, truffle pasta, and lemon pasta. I was at this popular Mediterranean restaurant a couple of months ago with one of my usual groups. The space inside is very nice, with good lighting, and the service was also good. I was there early, as it's near my workplace, and I started with a cocktail from their large bar. I went with the Kiss The Ring from their "negroni style" section for $19, which had Harelston green blended scotch, amaretto Lazzaroni, Heirloom pineapple amaro, toasted almond bitters, and salt. The drink was well-balanced, being bitter but not too much, with a touch of sweetness and a very slight bite from the scotch. I think it would work better with a peatier or stronger scotch, but said drink worked well overall. Once the group arrived, we ordered a bunch of dishes to share. The first dish that arrived was our sole appetizer and one of my favorites, which was the Stuffed Pita "Spanakopita" with spinach, leeks, feta, and sesame seeds. There is a choice between a $10 small one and a $16 large one, and we went with the latter, and honestly, even if you were in a smaller group, I would recommend the larger size. The inside had a good vegetal flavor from the spinach and leeks, while the pita was warm and soft. I guess the only complaint I could make is that it was perhaps a bit salty, but that's partially expected for a spanakopita. We also got two pasta dishes, and they were very different from each other, not just by price but also by richness. I had a slight preference for the Mezzi Rigatoni, which was the cheaper option at $28 with braised lamb ragout, green olives, chickpeas, pistachio crumbs, and feta cheese. The pasta was pretty solid with some pieces of tender lamb within said ragu, with the olives and feta adding a unique saltiness (almost too much so,) while the pistachios added a fun crunch. This was an interesting dish, reminding me closest in terms of Italian pastas to a couple of dishes at the close by Norma Gastronomia Siciliana, though I preferred their pasta texture. The Black Truffle Mafaldine, for $45 with wild mushrooms, mascarpone, and parmesan, was our other pasta dish. The price point honestly makes sense, as this is big enough to share for two or three people due to its richness. This pasta had a better texture, being more al dente, though it was a bit more one-note in terms of flavor and texture. If you're looking for a heavy black truffle-focused pasta, this is a good option, but it's not my personal preference. Last was the alright Pork Shank Shawarma for $62 with pita bread, house pickles, and 6th Ave white and red sauce. The pork shank was massive and was almost a bit too crispy, making it a bit hard to break into. I appreciated the za'atar on the bread as the little bit of sourness from said spice mix helped with the rich pork. Their take on white and red sauce was pretty standard, with the former being a light tzatziki and the latter being mildly sour with a bit of heat. Again, this would be good for sharing, which makes the price much more reasonable, but I didn't personally love this dish either for similar reasons as the mafaldine. Our only other small plate was an added side, which was the Baharat Roasted Mushrooms for $16 with sour cherries and cipollini onions. The dish was small, even as sides go, with the dish having a surprising amount of sweetness for there being sour cherries, which was presumably from the baharat spice blend. This was unique at least, but I wouldn't order it again. The food here was interesting. We started on a very high note, though I would say that the rest of the dishes weren't as strong as our appetizer. The food is unique enough, though, that I would probably recommend it even if I personally didn't like certain dishes as much/would go back and try things that aren't their pasta. read more

Leonetta had an incredible ambiance and even better food! The setting felt warm and cozy even though it was packed thanks to gorgeous interior design and dim lighting. I made a reservation ahead of time and was seated immediately. The tables were spaced really close to each other, and some extra space would have been preferred. I was impressed with the dishes I tried. The black garlic hummus was out of this world, so fragrant and paired with warm pita. The Baked Black Cod "Dolma" was phenomenal and melt-in-your-mouth, accompanied by charred grape leaf and wild rice. I absolutely loved the food here but I had to knock off two stars: 1- The service is not great. One person takes your order, another brings your drinks, a different one brings your food, a different one clears the plates. All of this disconnection means that no one actually tends to you during the meal. Our server asked if we were doing ok AFTER we finished the food. We didn't see him once the whole meal and they were at maybe 50% capacity. We didn't even actually get our drinks until after the appetizers. 2 - The prices for wine are obnoxiously out of control. My friend suggested this place for our catch up, and we left very impressed! First, I loved the ambiance here. It's beautiful and just set the vibe well. We thought the cocktails tasted SO good which having a hint of alcohol taste. All the dishes except the Jumbo Lump Crab Ceviche were better than expected. The crab ceviche's portion was a lot smaller than the pictures that we saw but also we thought the ingredients didn't really blend together but felt like they were all separate; even the sauce/seasoning. We caught up with an old friend at brunch here, and I'm not mad I schlepped a bit for it. Splitting everything family style, we started with warm, homemade pita and the scrumptious Beetroot Tzatziki. The Black Garlic Hummus, another dip, wasn't as tasty (oddly nutty and slightly sweet), and we didn't receive any chilled crudités like the menu mentioned, but I'm not mad because the Beetroot was so fantastic. The Jumbo Lump Crab Ceviche was a pleasant surprise, with a generous portion of crab, as was the perfectly decadent Lamb Tartare. The Steak & Eggs Kebab came out delightfully medium rare, while the Lamb Panini was a crunchy reminder that more sandwiches should sandwich lamb (if it weren't so expensive). We also threw in the Shawarma Spiced Bacon (lovely), and the less lovely Za'atar Steak Fries. The Hummus was absolutely out of this world and is the best I have had in the city, and the pita that comes with it is so flavorful. This is a great new place that has opened in Kips Bay. Ambiance: I loved the decor and set up at the restaurant. It's boho modern Mediterranean. The seats are very comfortable and I love that most of it has booth or half booth sitting. The plateware is really cute and suits the theme of the restaurant. They also have this amazing lounge area downstairs. It's a great spot to start the date before you go up for dinner. They have a fireplace and comfy sofas. They also have a really nice bar area there with very comfortable bar stools. Food: We got the spanikopita as a starter. It was good, well seasoned, but it wasn't really spanikopita. They used a pita/focaccia type of bread instead of phyllo pastry. The mix instead was also wetter than spanikopita usually is so it felt a little more like a spinach dip. We also got the beet tzitaki. It was so yummy and probably my favorite dish. I don't think I've had anything like this other than maybe something in Greece. The pita bread that came with it was fresh and warm. It has the right level of zaatar to enhance the bread. As the main we got the baked stuff shells. I really liked the rice mixture inside and it was really well seasoned. The shells were well cooked and the tomato sauce was nice. We got the fries as a side. It was nice and I liked the ketchup it came with. Note: as vegetarians be aware that unfortunately the truffle dishes aren't vegetarian. They looked really yummy but unfortunately they use some chicken something to keep the truffle texture correct so it cant be vegetarian. Drinks: they had a great selection of wine and I had a really good sparkling wine. It was perfect. I also got the Paloma Picasso cocktail. It was the perfect mix of sweet and tart and it was a good size. Price: cocktails are about $20. The glass of wines are fairly on the high end especially the half bottles considering some of the whole bottles were the same price. Food was on the higher end but the portions were pretty filling so even though they looked slightly small it was the perfect amount. Service: service was fast. This was the second time that I dined at Leonetta and everything is still just as good! All of the plates are meant for sharing which I love because you get to try a little bit of everything. We started with the crab ceviche which was really good and fish was fresh. We also got the black garlic hummus and spanakopita. The hummus was good but didn't really stand out. The spanakopita was delicious, I also got that last time. Everyone around us was getting the beet tzatziki so something to try for next time. For our main, we shared the filet mignon and mushroom kebab. Based off the menu description, I thought it would come with more sauce so I was disappointed there but the meat was cooked to perfection! We decided to also order the chicken sausage flatbread which was good but not my favorite. For dessert we share the chocolate pudding which had an orange marmalade at the bottom which was unique. For drinks, I had a glass of wine and my friend had the up all night cocktail which was essentially an espresso martini. We had a 7:30 reservation, there was a short wait for our table. The space is gorgeous, our waiter was lovely, very knowledgeable and attentive. Party of three, we shared two appetizers and three entrées, and it was the perfect amount of food . Plus, drinks and dessert. The black garlic hummus was delicious, served with amazing warm pita. The lamb Tartare was good, but not as impressive as I expected. For entree we had the black truffle mafaldine, very creamy and tasty, perfect for truffle lovers. The rock shrimp cous cous was my favorite, a light, citrusy and flavorful dish. The beef and mushroom kebab was very delicious, cooked perfectly, didn't have much mushrooms though. Want to start this review by saying that our waiter, Isaac, was probably the best part of our experience here. He did such a fantastic job reviewing the menu for us and giving recommendations, service like that alone is a reason I will probably be back here! Leonetta opened recently as of me writing this review and I came here for a date night. The space is very cozy, trendy, well decorated. Sitting by the windows can feel a bit odd as people walking down the street tend to look into the restaurant and down to where you are sitting, but other than that the space is beautiful. The price point is higher than other spots in the area, and I specifically noticed that when looking at the mocktail menu. Overall we really enjoyed our food, the steak was perfectly cooked, and the beetroot tatziki was delicious and complex. The Tuna puttanesca was super fresh but needed more salt (and I personally could have done entirely without the crispy bread sticks). I would recommend coming here with the mindset of sharing everything with your group because there is a ton of unique stuff on the menu. read more

I arrived 30 minutes early for a reservation and was told that incomplete parties are not seated, but that I was welcome to wait in the lounge area, which appeared quite lovely. I sat there for the full 30 minutes and was uncomfortably cold the entire time. I was working and initially assumed the issue was poor window insulation or a draft, not a larger problem. When my partner arrived and we were about to be seated, I mentioned that I preferred not to sit near the windows due to the cold. Only then-- for the first time-- were we informed that the restaurant was experiencing an ongoing heating issue and that they were working to fix it. The dining room itself was just as cold. I expressed frustration that we had not been notified earlier, especially given that this was not a new issue and that we had a reservation. Had we been informed in advance, we could have made alternate plans. Rather than being understanding, the staff seemed aggravated and simply repeated that they were trying to resolve the issue. While I understand that mechanical problems happen, diners should not be expected to sit through an uncomfortably cold meal, nor to discover the problem only after arriving. The lack of proactive communication--both prior to our arrival and upon check-in--was disappointing. After the situation was explained, we chose to dine elsewhere. When we shared our concerns with the managers, as we were leaving, they were not apologetic or gracious, but instead appeared annoyed and borderline rude. We have dined here many times in the past and previously enjoyed our experiences, but this interaction left us feeling unwelcome and unlikely to return. While the heating issue itself may not have been the restaurant's fault, the response to it was. A more proactive and apologetic approach would have made all the difference. Do better. read more

From the moment you walk in and are greeted with a smile, the only thing better than the outstanding food and wine is the staff. They look after every need. They are engaging, well trained and thoughtful. We felt welcome and had a blast at the bar after our lovely dinner. My husband and I decided to check Leonetta out as it's close by to where we live and I can tell other neighbors, it's far from how Brother Jimmy's was (the former business in this location) The vibe is nice and classy, somewhere you and your colleagues can stop by for happy hour. We visited both the restaurant (on the main floor) as well as their bar downstairs and I'll say both of the spaces were great. We decided to share a few apps and entrees -- as a big seafood lover/former pescatarian I will say the seafood has my stamp of approval. Cod was nicely cooked and oysters were fresh. I noticed the shucking bar immediately which is a good indicator that the bar has some nice selection of oysters (not just the usual blue point oysters). My husband loved his old fashioned drinks, so much that he only ordered those for his drinks both at the restaurant and their downstairs bar. The bar downstairs has a good homey feel to it. This might possibly be one of my new favorite restaurants. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was great. All of the staff was so nice and they gave wonderful recommendations. My favorites were the black garlic hummus and the filet mignon and mushroom kabob. The drinks were delicious and well-balanced. Everyone in my group loved their food. The ambiance is gorgeous and very "Tik Tok-able". They have so many things I want to try on the menu so I will be back. read more

Good Food, nice staff but small portions. Very nice atmosphere as this is a higher end restuarant in Murray Hill. Service was good, friendly, helpful and accomodating. We ordered the Lamb Tartar, Crab Ceviche, Mezzi rigatoni and Lamb Kebab. All were tasty and fresh, just couldnt get over the portion sizes for the price. Kudos for making a lamb tartar and the great idea of the Mezzi rigatoni dish ( very original). Would come again for the nice flavors and staff, but would not suggest coming when very hungry as you may need to order a second entree to go home full. read more

Tastes like Shuka in Murray Hill. Love the vibe of Leonetta, it's large although can be loud because tables are close to each other. We got the black truffle hummus and the beetroot tzatziki and both were divine. The pita they provided was soft and flavorful, I love that they load it up with spices. We also got the dorade, which was light and tasty, a good dish for the summer. The steak and mushrooms skewer was also so delicious, very tender and flavor. Also loved that it came with potatoes. This restaurant had incredible food and immaculate energy. Went for brunch and had delicious French toast and eggs Benedict. Tried Leonetta on their first day officially open. The service was efficient and friendly. They asked for a lot of feedback which shows they are eager to hear what customers think. All the food we ate was pretty tasty. Of the things we had, I'd say they need to work on a little is perhaps their pricing to serving size ratios. We were given a table for 2 in the lounge area, where people waited for tables in the main dining area. The male host said it was quieter. I wasn't comfortable but the only alternative was a sliver seating for 2 between 2 other couples. We stayed where we were but it was not quiet and the food was not good, especially for the price. The meat platter for $57 had 1 lamb chop and 2 small sausages on top of lamb ragu. The Cod was gross. Our waitstaff was very nice but think she knew we were not happy but it wasn't her fault. They were very busy and perhaps most people order the "shares" and fill up with pita. We won't go back there. read more
