Sticky toffee pudding
Angela C.

The restaurant is small but cozy inside. The service was top notch, they were always by for drinks, food or anything we needed. The food was excellent! For dessert we ordered the sticky toffee pudding and they also brought out a complementary chocolate cake for my birthday, so nice! Next time I'm in New York I will dine there again

I used to visit the restaurant in Bryan Park, which is why I knew about this location however I will say that the Bryan Park location was far more inviting and beautiful. I do enjoy the space as well as all of them food and coffee options that they have and so I will definitely be back. I think this staff is super professional and extremely helpful, they also don't try and rush you out of your seat, which is important because I take quite a few meetings here. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation, especially on the weekends.

Good food, but nothing particularly special. Service is excellent. Cocktails are good. Wine list is ok, but very basic. The room is beautiful. Vibe is subdued.

This restaurant/bar has a nice ambiance. I had booked as a happy hour spot with colleagues, as I saw there was a Happy Hour menu (named "Social hour"). I didn't know until we got to the restaurant that it's only available at the bar. While I wasn't surprised by this rule, I wished it was more public on the website or the online menu. It is fine for 1-2 people to enjoy but when it's a larger group bar seating isn't optimal. It also was a shame that since we were the only diners there for almost 40 min they weren't willing to move us, but I wouldn't ding them any points for that. The soocial hour cocktails were good (priced at $12). The food, even with happy hour prices, were on the pricier end.

The service was exceptional, so attentive. The low lighting, artistic, high class syle of the venue was really nice. My scallops entree was delicious, cooked perfectly and the textures and flavors melted together so nicely.

The service and ambiance was excellent. We went for late lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty except for 2 tables. The food was underwhelming. The tuna tartar was overly salty; good thing it was pair with the lettuce to cut the salt. Rissoto was too hard and my friend complained that the mussels didn't taste fresh. The duck pasta was also disappointing. Duck was dry and the pasta tastes like dry pasta. I was expecting fresh pasta. The squash was very flat and one dimensional. Overall, I would recommend going elsewhere for good food.

Black truffle gnocchi

A pleasant dinner here. Friendly staff and servers come to fill the water cups numerous times. Crispy calamari was crispy and delicious with zucchini rings. Truffle mushroom gnocchi was really good. Sticky toffee pudding was unique. A perfect place to unwind after a day walking around so much! The manager came by to check on us a few times. Their attention details and water filling, scrape the crumb before dessert was served showed a fine dining experience. The staff, room ambiance were extra kudo points in earning the 5-star rating. There are plenty of places to eat in NY, but this is a place to worth a try!

Excellent ambience and great for business dinner. Chic. French/ American modern bistro. Great service with host, sitting 3 of us in a quiet table appropriate for conversation. Awesome cocktails with generous pour, calamari, Seabass, espresso all delicious and well balance. Great location next to Ritz Carlton

NEED to come back here to try this matcha french toast but i think that was just a brunch item love this place it's super ambient and elegant. the truffle gnocchi is to die for. servers are very nice and accommodating cocktails are hit or miss but very pretty

Spring risotto
Aditya S.

A cozy and sophisticated restaurant with high ceilings and a dark romantic table setting. The cocktails are tasty and well crafted including the Bramble with gin and blackberry and the Airmail which is like a more refined version of a margarita with Prosecco. The menu is not French despite the name of the restaurant. The bruschetta is a delightful starter with fresh ricotta and pesto. The calamari is crispy and light. The scallops are perfectly seared and garnished and the spring risotto is blended perfectly. The service is attentive and kind.

Leah a.

Oh my. What a shocker. Well below average. First off, took our order and then came back to tell us they were completely out of the Chilean Seabass. Bummer. We then chose the New York strip, which was completely flavorless. The all-time insult to the chef is we then asked for ketchup, just to swallow it. I don't think I've had a catch up on a steak in over 15 years. The cook on the steak was OK. We both asked for it medium. I ate only about a quarter of mine my partner ate half. A complete shame, the salmon and crispy rice we sent back. It was so fishy overall a complete miss! Don't bother. With all the wonderful places around this is one I would pass on.

As we had our cocktails we discussed going somewhere else as the vibe was flat. But my husband convinced me to stay as it's already 8:30. We head upstairs to our table, only to be greeted by another less enthusiastic server. He never told us his name or offered up any menu highlights. I was excited to have bone marrow and escargot. Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.

The DJ was underwhelming and the bathroom was vile. The most pleasant part was the below average $20 drinks. For an expensive, well-known spot, this was a very poor experience. The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

Our server was…read moreincredibly warm, upbeat, and full of energy--one of those people who genuinely elevates a meal. I only wish I could remember her name because she deserves the recognition. We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.

I've heard "Lunch at The Modern" so many times, one thing I was absolutely going to do during this…read moretrip to NYC was lunch at The Modern, and I'm so glad I did. Located at MoMA, The Modern is a 2 Michelin star restaurant hosting both fine dining, showcasing Chef Thomas Allan's cuisine, and a more casual dining experience in The Bar Room. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a giant glass wall overlooking MoMA's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, a lovely view. There is an abridged tasting menu of 3 courses, but we opted for the full chef's menu cause we didn't want to miss their signature "eggs on eggs on eggs" and after the supplemental charge, the price was close enough. - Hiramasa and sugar snap peas/crispy ham and cheese--simple and delicious, with the hiramasa being light and fresh and the ham and cheese providing a deeply savory contrast - Chilled lobster, shiso, and green radish--the lobster was cold and sweet but as a personal preference, I don't really enjoy bitter flavors and the slice of lemon under the radish threw it off a bit - Eggs on eggs on eggs--words cannot adequately describe the unctuousness of this dish, it's like eating rich, buttery velvet on a crispy, fluffy log of brioche. As a bonus, they bring you an extra toast to mop up all the tasty bits - Pumpkin seed sourdough and cultured butter--okay I totally didn't know this was meant to be eaten with the next dish so given total lack of self control in the face of pillowy fresh bread and perhaps the smoothest butter on the planet, I may or may not have eaten it all before the trout showed up... they were nice enough to give us more :') - Sea trout with clams and saffron shellfish broth--the fish was cooked to literal perfection and the clam and saffron sauce enhanced everything even more. This fights with the chicken dish for spot #2 in my favorites of this meal - Heritage chicken, provençal asparagus, vin jaune--this reminds me of the stuffed chicken from Per Se and was cooked just as well. The vin jaune sauce was slightly nutty with an incredibly rich flavor and also went well with the bread - Lamb saddle, romanesco, and lemon poached dates--for some reason I thought the chicken was the final savory course and I did not pace myself at all and was so full by this point. The lamb was tender and the date was a wonderful bite though - Wild strawberries and cacao--I can't remember what was all in this but I loved the little wild strawberries as they were like delicious strawberry gummies - Dark chocolate cremeux, meyer lemon, and espresso--delicious with interesting flavors, I haven't had many lemon, chocolate, and coffee combinations - Mignardises of raspberry, lemon coconut, cherry cheesecake--only one I tried was the cherry cheesecake bonbon but my husband ate 'em all so they must've been good lol The MVP of this meal was the melon lemonade mocktail, made with honeydew, jasmine, and pandan. Might be the most perfect drink for me ever made because it was melony with a subtle floral note from the pandan and jasmine, and only lightly sweet and tart, everything I love. Sooooo good! Service was pretty good up until we wanted to pay, and for some reason it became really difficult to find someone to close us out. We waited almost 20 minutes between the mignardises and finally being able to pay, even actively looking around trying to flag someone down. Despite The Modern not being the most innovative of meals, it's easily one of my all time favorites. I definitely prefer food that's executed well over food that's pushing boundaries, and may be back any time I'm in town.

Their entire operation seemed so incredibly focused, meticulous, and inspiring that we knew we had to try it. We started with the Iberico ham and the hiramasa tart, both incredible. Then came the chilled lobster, which was super fresh and refreshing, served with an amazing sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. Every dish felt refined without being overly complicated. The service was extraordinary. You can immediately tell the front-of-house team is operating at an extremely high level and is aware of everything happening in the room at all times. At one point, my wife stepped away to use the restroom just as they were about to serve the first course. Without saying a word or making anything awkward, the staff simply looped around a couple of times until she returned. The moment she sat down, they resumed service seamlessly without missing a beat. That level of awareness and professionalism really stood out to us. Next came the rye bread, which was fresh and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, paired with delicious butter. Then we had the sea bass with crab, which was phenomenal and one of my favorite dishes of the night. But the true star of the show for me was the lamb. My wife and I grill lamb racks often, and I genuinely had no idea this level of perfection existed. It was cooked flawlessly, and the sauce was absolutely incredible. If I was not in public, I probably would have been scraping the bone clean :) Big shoutout to one of the staff members, Stephanie, who completely made our night. We were telling her how excited we were to finally visit after watching the Bon Appétit video, and she casually asked if we wanted a tour of the kitchen after dinner. Honestly, I thought she was joking at first. Then she came back after dessert and reminded us. Even after paying the bill, I still thought maybe she was kidding, but then she walked over smiling and said, "Let's go." My wife and I were completely geeked out. Seeing the kitchen in person was surreal. It was exactly like the video: super meticulous, orders being called out and repeated in unison, everyone moving with total precision and purpose. You could see the Omega clock, the Michelin stars on the wall, and just the overall culture of excellence behind everything they do. We were honestly in awe. Thank you again, Stephanie. That experience meant so much to us. Every time we visit a fine dining restaurant for a special occasion, I always wonder whether it will truly live up to the hype. Some completely miss the mark. Some are very good. But none have delivered on every aspect the way The Modern did. This is officially our favorite restaurant in the world.
