Cauliflower

finally a mediterranean spot that lives up to its hype!! it was definitely pricey for the portion sizes so that was my one negative but everything else is a positive for the dips to start the whipped feta & matboucha were so delicious. the bread that came with it was PHENOMENAL!! we loved the eggplant & zucchini chips & the tzatziki dip that came with it was so yummy and fresh. we also got the crispy cauliflower and falafel which were both a 10/10. the only comment we had was on the zaatar fries - they were good fries but definitely could have used more seasoning. will definitely be back! service was really quick and food still came out quick. our waitress was very efficient. it's busy but there's tons of seating inside and vibes inside are cute.

Airy space, and the food's not bad. Portions are good. The food's a little more elevated, and priced well. Had the crispy cauliflower as a starter and it was good. For entree, I liked the salmon a lot better than the chicken. The seating however was very cramped, with the big cushions. Even without the cushions the booths are pretty tight. I'm 125lbs and I struggle to get into the booth, I don't know how "average" Americans can fit in comfortably. I saw some business groups struggling with the booths too.

Mezze is such a gem. The food is incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented every dish tastes like it was made with real care and authentic Mediterranean touch. The fattoush was super fresh and delicious, and the crispy zucchini had the perfect crunch. The shish taouk was a standout tender, perfectly grilled, and packed with flavor. The atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. It's the perfect spot for a cozy, satisfying meal. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

It might have been a bit of luck grabbing a table during the rush hour in NYC. Mama Mezze is lively and had a distinct smell of grilled food, just as you would expect with a Mediterranean spot. The menu offers plenty to choose from - hummus was creamy and came with fresh baked bread. We opted to share the chicken skewer, steak skewer and chopped salad plates; plenty for a hungry table of four. The veggie accoutrements balanced the savory flavors of the meats. Definitely a spot to try if you happen to be in the Flatiron district.

Passed this place a few times, and today I was so hungry I decided to finally try it out. I went in by myself around 2pm and was immediately seated. The menu is limited but I enjoyed not having too many selections. It was just enough choices. Order: Crispy Latke $12, Avocado Toast $17 with x2 Poached Eggs $6, a Prickly Pear Cocktail $18 and a Latte for "dessert" $6. Kind of a pricy lunch for one person, but again I was really hungry. The service was 9/10. I didn't see waitress often, but it was a little busy and she did check in with me from time to time - so no complaints there. Plus there was 2 other staff members (I was seated close to the door), to help me out. Spacious. Well lit - lots of natural light. Very elegantly decorated. I was impressed with the space.

Passed this place a thousand times, but never made it here till I was looking to get a solo lunch over the weekend. Got the falafel sandwich and a glass of wine. Reasonably priced, good food and friendly staff. I'll gladly come back.

Arayes

Cute place. Definitely overhyped. Really enjoyed the bread and drips. Arayes were solid. Nothing to write home about. The entrees were kind of a flop. Not enough flavor. Sides were not great. We preferred the salmon over the chicken. We ended with the chocolate babka because it sounded insane and again solid but hard to eat. Don't think I would come back, plenty of better Mediterranean places.

Broccoli

This was some of the best Mediterranean I've ever had! They served up the creamiest hummus and most perfect falafel I've had in a while, and the broccoli had great flavor! The restaurant is cute and smells amazing, pricing wasn't awful, and service was friendly and prompt!

Nutella Babka

I went here for brunch and had a great meal! My friend and I had a late afternoon reservation, so it wasn't too crowded and the service was quick. The ambiance is bright and beautiful, definitely perfect for a girls brunch! The food was overall excellent. We ordered a lot, and my favorites were definitely the rich Mushroom Humus, decadent Nutella Babka (still dreaming about this), and the crispy Chicken Schnitzel (which came with flavorful fries and a delicious spicy dipping sauce). The vegetable dishes we tried were good too, our only complaint was that the tahini caesar was very salty. Definitely a cute new spot and I'll come back for dinner soon!

Chicken skewer and Salmon skewer

Mama Mezze is such a lovely spot! The decor is beautiful, and the orange tree in the middle of the restaurant adds such a nice touch. We shared the classic hummus and the whipped feta to start, and the feta with pita was a standout for me, it was super flavorful and creamy. For mains, we tried the salmon skewer and the chicken skewer. Both were delicious, but the salmon was my favorite of the two. Overall, a great place for a relaxed, tasty brunch.

Nutella babka sundae

I am still dreaming about last night's dinner! One bite was better than the next and the prices were so reasonable. This place has been on my list for months and now I can say it was worth the wait. Standouts were the schnitzel, latkes, and babka sundae. Truly my biggest complaint was that the babka sundae only came with a spoon but it was hard to cut with the spoon. Amazing food, servers were attentive & caring. LOVED. Will b

This was a great find for my friend and I to catch up and eat outside. Our waitress was personable and always came back to check on us. I like when my Diet Coke is refilled before it runs out haha. We ordered the hummus and cauliflower for starters and both went with a salad. I got the tahini Caesar next time I'd order it with shrimp but the chicken was great. My friend got the Greek feta and she said she would get that again. The shrimp was the best part. Spicy and just perfectly grilled. Diet Coke was fresh and out of a glass bottle. We will be back to try their dinner for sure! Reading other reviews, we found their prices to be quite normal for the area that you're in. The price and the serving size make sense. Right, the cauliflower was $16 but look at how big that starter is. Everything was perfect for us. We went right when they opened ... even before they were opened and they did not make me feel like I was intruding on their time to set up. They served us right away even asked if we wanted to sit in a different spot because of the sun. In all, a 5 star experience for customer service and hospitality.

MAMA MEZZE...meh, mediocre, middling I dined here on a recent October Friday evening. This eatery replaced the defunct Lupeto in the same location with a menu featuring North African and " Eastern Mediterranean" cookery. Mama Mezze follows the La Pecora Bianca money-making formula of middle-tier prices, in largely nondescript spaces that only hint at the cuisine on offer, serving unremarkable inoffensive plates to 20 and 30 somethings to accompany the usual in-restaurant Instagramming and to buffer the multiple cocktails that will no doubt be imbibed. Heck, I could be found at places such as Mama Mezze in my youth too. However, Mama Mezze wilts, and wilts quickly, in comparison to the less expensive and more sapid Shukette just a few blocks further West in Chelsea. Those interested in visuals, will find nothing to look at--you may not need to because the roar of the place will devour your attention. On the plus side, the service is speedy and the wine pours are generous. Like its sister restaurants, choosing to dine here is a safe choice if you find yourself sans reservations on a busy evening in NoMad.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation. Overall, it's a great spot if you want elevated drinks in a space that feels transportive without being pretentious.
