I came here for dinner. The restaurant was not very full and we got seated immediately. The service overall was really good but they could not make small accommodations, for example, like I asked for a lemon water and this was incredibly complicated. I will say that they were able to do some of the simple dishes really well, and the Indian flavors were authentic, but I would not come up for a special event, only if I happen to be in the area and looking for Indian food they have a pretty large space I would say probably about 20 tables, with maybe three larger tables for bigger groups. The rest for 2 to 4 people. I would recommend making reservations to come here, especially in the summer because I can see how it will get filled up pretty quickly.

First time dining at this Michelin Bib Gourmand and it was restaurant week. I arrived 45 minutes later due to work commitments and I was seated at the bar. Marco took care of me and we had a great conversation. Marco gave great recommendations but I knew what I wanted to order. I ordered from the restaurant week menu and the portions were definitely smaller. Ambiance was great but unfortunately I did not get to explore the entire restaurant as I was very hungry. I started off with a complementary take on the pani puri, which was a great bite. For the appetizer I ordered the Jalebi Chaat and I devoured it. All the components put together was a perfect balance of flavors and textures. For the entree I ordered the Delhi Butter Chicken with Naan and this dish had a kick but I liked it. I didn't finish the dish and I ended up taking it home for my other half to enjoy. For the dessert I had a sampler of their popular dishes which hit the spot. I would definitely return to dine in the dining room area and experience the theatrics behind their dishes.

Ishq is another addition to the upscale Indian restaurant scene. The ambiance is nice. I found their seating to be very comfortable, including for the people who are not sitting in the booth. The service was great. In terms of the food, we found some of their food to be incredibly spicy. As a family who cannot handle a high level of heat we struggled to eat some of their food. We tried to get mango lassi to help cool down the heat but there was some issue and they could not make any more lassi. I had already gotten a glass so I ended up sharing my one glass with the family. Here is what we ordered and what we thought: 1. Jalebi chaat- 5/5 great taste, manageable spice level 2. Sharabi tikka- 4/5 taste was great, chicken was really tender and the presentation was fun. Would be 5/5 but we found the heat level to be too high 3. Meat Kulcha- 5/5 this was delicious. I recommend it 4. Lamb karahi- 5/5 we requested a milder version and it was perfect. It was my favorite dish of the night 5. Chicken biryani- 2/5. It was so spicy that we just could not eat it. I also ended up chewing some whole spices which ruined the whole experience for me. I understand that whole spices are used while cooking biryani but given that this is a high end restaurant, I didn't think they would leave them in 6. Mango Lassi- 4/5 I liked it. My husband didn't. It has saffron in it so it depends on how much you like saffron. The heat level of the food and mango lassi situation is the reason I took off a star. I appreciated that the food was Halal.

Came here for dinner one night because we heard this made it to the Michelin Bib list last year. Everything was pretty tasty, and the cocktails were artfully crafted - one of them had one of those cool popping bubbles with wisps of smoke in it! The food was all really good, super flavorful, and very filling. Definitely worth checking out and going out of your way for! The space was also quite chic and spacious, definitely felt like you could hear the people you were with and you could bring a sizable group (we had roughly 6). The chicken was probably our favorite dish of the night, and was so tender and had a variety of textures. The panipuri was also a standout and quite delicious. Glad this place is seeing some success and hope it continues!

Went to ishq to celebrate for an Eid dinner and had an amazing time- one of the better indian restaurants in the city in terms of quality as well as portion sizes including consistent food taste from beginning to end. The service was nice and the restaurant itself is also cozy and beautiful with a really good music playlist. Really enjoyed myself and would highly recommend!

After dining at Ishq I was very disappointed in the meal. The restaurant was empty besides our table. The ambiance was beautiful but I have eaten much better indian food at local spots. This place had potential but unfortunately the food did not stand out for me. The flavors were just not there I was really hoping to love this plac

Food/drinks: so yum! Texture was spot on for every dish! The lamb chops and chicken was so tender!! Happy I went but probably wouldn't go back again Atmosphere: very fancy, bohemian and moody - good for a date or celebrating Service: good service! Price: $$ pricey but you're paying for the experience and the presentation of the food

Dudhiya kabob- good, not worth the price

4.5 stars! Interesting dining room with an upscale ambience tucked away in East Village. We loved the service and food! Must haves are the butter chicken (note you have to order rice separately) and jalebi chaat. Cauliflower is also quite good. Prices are consistent with New York. I'm interested to see the community table in action. We will be back!

Ishq chaandi hai, ishq sona hai - for my Bollywood loving friends - you'll get the reference! One word - spectacular! Made reservations, and if you have a well behaved child, they will let you in with your little one even if the Resy says no kids under 8. Just be considerate to other diners is their ask, which is more than fair. Chef Vamshi delivers another excellent menu after Gazab, with small plates packed with flavor and entrees with a decent balance. Small Plates: Jalebi Chaat ($19) is a must have, just like Sharabi Chicken Tikka ($23). Kadak Rumali ($15) is passable, but their chili sour cream was tasty! Andhra Chili Gobi ($17) for one might be too much, as the oil eventually gets to you - but an excellent choice if sharing the small plate. For non-paneer eaters, you cannot go wrong with Himachali Gucchi ($23) - the the classic onion & tomato gravy goes surprisingly well with morel mushrooms! The Poussin Musallam ($31) was on the less flavorful side, but the cornish hen looked really well cooked. Laccha Paratha ($8) is a generous size, and one should be enough to be shared by two people, just like their tasty garlic Naan ($7). Shout out to Sujit our friendly server who ensured a flawless and attentive service. Food arrived within 10-15 mins of ordering. With bollywood hits playing in a background, noise levels on the lower end, and fresh, modern interiors, Ishq was an absolute hit and a place that we'll definitely revisit with friends and family.

Of the 3 main words in the Hindustani lexicon for love, "ishq" is the most fleeting. It is simultaneously tacky yet suggestive. You would never profess your love to someone by saying that you had been overcome with "ishq." Similarly, my feelings about this new modern desi eatery in Alphabet City are hard to pin down. Things started on a high note, with the excellent malai soya chaap - a cousin to the paneer tikka kebab that's less commonly found on menus in the U.S., the malai sauce had a lovely fragrance to it, and the soya itself was tender. The so-called roomali appetizer, while a bit hard to eat logistically, was quite unique with a nice blend of cheeses on top. Unfortunately my initial infatuation started to subside while moving into the main course. The paneer was a bit too floral, and the texture was rather chewy. The daal was fine, but not something I'd eat with chawal for pachas saal.

    Andhra Chili Gobi
    Ash B.

I'm only comparing Ishq to Adda because it felt like they both are going for a similar vibe with a lot of style over substance. However, where Adda failed to deliver substance, Ishq succeeded. The presentation of every dish was so unique, especially the paneer laung latta and the kaala jamun tart. On top of that, each dish was delicious. My favorite was the Andhra chili gobi and the gupchup. Easily one of my favorite Indian fine dining experiences.

    Jalebi Chaat
    Simran K.

Upon entry a few observations - a stunning bar, vast seating setup, and rather too dimly lit. I get mood lighting but turn up the dial just a notch. I would've enjoyed a better view into what I was eating and the intricacies of each dish because every item was worth the attention. The rundown of our Restaurant Week Menu tasting: - Jalebi Chaat (5/5) - the name features some trickery. The jalebi is not your average jalebi, nonetheless the creativity and texture was such a unique stance to the chaat experience and they served! - Dudhiya Kebab (4/5) - expected homemade paneer to be more tender than it actually was, and less impressive than the rest of the meal. Not a disappointing dish. Just not inspiring enough. - Butter Chicken (4.75/5) - near perfect. Tender chicken in a luscious sauce. With a little more spice and a little less sweetness, we're talking about perfection. - Lamb Boti Karahi (5/5) - Spice, check. Softness, check. Deliciousness, check. - Breads: tandoori roti (5/5) and garlic naan (4.5/5). The roti is typical roti so you get what you expect. The garlic naan is fluffier than anticipated. - Dessert Sampler : the Apricot Mousse was such a surprise and a (5/5).The Tart however was decent but tasted like a confused concept (3/5). The tasting menu was so worth the price and the quality and quantity did not disappoint. The service was prompt and proactive. My scores don't add up but Ishq was still a 5/5 because it is above average compared to other typical Indian restaurants around the city.

Our friends raved about this place and we of course were excited (and a bit skeptical at first) to try it. The concept: no menu + no lights + a few questions = the ultimate cocktail experience. The speakeasy vibe and the dark ambiance really makes this place feel even more exclusive. With just a few tables and the bar setting, you're in for an experience you won't forget (unless you answer the wrong questions and really end up with a drink you don't like HA). This wasn't my case. Of course I described my two favorite things: Negroni + mezcal. The obvious answer would be a mezcal Negroni, but that's not why one comes to a place like Attaboy. Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. My drink came as I couldn't possibly imagine. It looked like a Negroni smelled like Oaxaca, with all the smoke simmering up and preparing my sensory experience, leading to the best first sip. It adds a layer of character to the place, but what really keeps people coming back is the atmosphere and the drinks. I always felt like I was part of something special the few times enjoyed creative, delicious, and strong libations from the pros at the bar. While it has always been pricey, I do feel like the excellent service ambiance, and drink quality warrant this, but may prevent more folks from becoming regulars so to speak. I love the clever and compact bathroom design, too. IYKYK Long live Apotheke!

Fifteen years later and Apotheke is still one of my favorites!…read more You will walk past this hidden speakeasy several times before finding it. I could tell you to look for the blue beaker sign that says "Chemist" but the better tell is the random guy sitting on a stool outside. He'll be the only person on the street, so no worries about missing him! The menu has changed over the years, but the quality has not. The bartenders are social and personable. And the prices are in line for the area. My bestie and I loved the vibe. One of the best speakeasies she's had the pleasure of experiencing. Don't miss out on this place!

Serious attitude here. The cocktails were very tasty but the service and vibe were so off-putting,…read moreI will never go back. I made a reservation in person more than 24 hours in advance. I wanted to treat an old friend to a quick birthday toast before a show she was attending nearby. Later that night, another friend became available to join but, because they do not actually have a phone that takes calls (only offers an announcement to go to Resy or email) adding another person was not at all easy. I would have had to cancel and rebook and wasn't sure I'd be able to (reservation was for a Saturday night) In most places, a table for 3 easily accommodates 4. But not here. When two of us arrived, they made it clear this was a big problem. I would have walked out right then but I would have been charged $90! We decided to stay and make the best of it, which was a challenge. For a speakeasy, the vibe was aggressive, not relaxing. Very loud music and not great acoustics.) Too cramped to be comfortable, proving that small does not necessarily mean cozy! We asked if we could take a chair from the table next to us, which was empty (it was only 6 pm; I told our server we'd be gone by 7 because my friend, the birthday girl, had to catch a show.) We were told No! To say the waiter was cold, unfriendly, and indifferent is generous. He was totally rude. He literally told my friend she couldn't sit in a chair that was otherwise empty, knowing we'd be leaving momentarily. Then he had the gail to hand me the bill with a 22% tip pre-selected...and watched over me while I signed it! Definitely the least satisfying $100 I have ever spent. Disappointing. It was good to see my friends, but I so wish I hadn't picked this place. Never again.
