This spot kept popping up on my Instagram feed so I took that as a sign and checked this place out. It's a cozy little corner spot in downtown Long Beach so you know how that goes, you gotta find street parking. Since we went early, it wasn't so bad trying to find parking. It was the Mango Sticky Rice that reeled me in to wanting to try this spot and I must say, it was pretty good. It's actually a big portion so it's enough to share. My daughter and husband got the bacon, eggs and cheese waffle sandwich to share. Good thing they did because that was a nice size portion too. Ambiance is quaint and the service was a good timely matter. When you first walk in, you'll order at the counter before finding a table. They had specials and drinks on the right side of the wall. I ordered the pistachio cold brew and the pistachio notes really pushes through. They'll give you a number to put on the table and off you go. Crispy Chicken Waffle Sammich was very tender and juicy and crispy. The waffle had a nice little sweetness to it (no need for the syrup). This is definitely a place I could go to on a regular basis if I lived closer. The drive is worth it, so I I'll be back. One of my favorite places in Long Beach! I come here whenever my friends want breakfast or I have people in town. They tend to be busy but thats what happens when the food is good! The mayonnaise and American cheese on the monte Cristo is too much. Not a good recipe. There's a reason for Swiss to be on it because of its mild flavor. Also who puts mayo on a Monte cristo? I tried to eat it and was able to get through one, but after that I was like no. The fact that they put a mountain slab on 3 pieces of bread per triangle is crazy.I just could not continue with the Kraft cheese melt. The bread was nice and fluffy but could be toasted a bit more. I really wanted to like this place but it was a bit of a let down. The restaurant is on the corner of a street and they have a ton of street (metered) parking and also a small lot in the alley. The meter is free on Sundays! You order at the front and they'll give you a number to take to your table. They have one long table for groups and a couple of two/four seater tables indoors and 3 four seater tables outside (can be pulled apart of 6 two seaters). When we first walked in, it took a solid 5 min of us standing around to be ACKNOWLEDGED by someone. It took another few mins to get our order started. We ordered our food and had separate transactions for the whole table. Check in on yelp for a free drink! They brought out my food before my drink lol. I ordered the thai iced tea and it was good- but nothing special. The food came out warm like it was sitting there for a while. I ordered the crispy chicken waffle sammich. There are different flavors for the chicken: garlic, cheese, spicy thai. The spicy thai isnt spicy at all. The waffles weren't crispy but the chicken was! Slather on the spicy mayo on top of the chicken and the syrup on waffles and prep for the first bite. Unfortunately even though we ordered together, my food was out for 15ish minutes before my friends. I went in to ask why hers wasn't out yet and he went to check. Ordered the Crispy Chicken Waffle. The order came with 1 full size Belgian waffle folded in half, fried chicken stuffed between and a side of home fries style potatoe quarters. The waffle was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. The fried chicken was a huge portion. It was fried crispy and flaky on the outside and the inside was tender and blazing hot. The potatoes were also crispy and blazing hot, almost too hot to eat. They were plain and needed seasoning but still very good. The service is simple. Counter order and about 10 minutes later hot food delivered to my table. Food wait was a little longer than expected, but well worth the wait. Small patio eating area and a slightly larger inside dining area. The dining area was clean. Business was slow today, but if the dining area was full it would be tight quarters. Great food and simple service. Highly recommended if you are in the area and have a few extra minutes to sit down and eat. Parking is challenging but there is a small parking lot on the east side if the building. I came here for the first time on a Sunday at 12pm, it was a little busy but we got seated pretty quickly. The menu has a variety of options and lots of drinks to choose from. This was one of the best omelets I've had in a while. I really enjoyed the potatoes and kale salad that came as sides. The biscuit was soooo good!! The waffle itself was nothing special. They give you a side of maple syrup and a sauce that kind of tastes like spicy mayo. - Monte Cristo: The monte cristo was delicious, but to be honest nothing super special. I think the crispy chicken waffle sammich is the star of the show. To be honest, if there was an option to just order the chicken itself, I would get that. Nothing else on the menu particularly caught my eye. If I were in the area I'd probably drop by again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. It's a bit cramped inside and even though they've tried adding more seating, it's not the most comfortable environment. Food is served on paper plates and with disposable utensils.
