Arirang is one of my favorite spots for a good Korean noodle soup and the scallion pancake especially! I've been coming here for years and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. It's a decently sized restaurant with a good amount of seats that's often filled with locals and regulars. Every time I come, I HAVE to get their seafood pancake. It's a must and it never disappoints. It's huge, super crispy but not oily, and has a good amount of seafood. All of their soups are delicious. You can go for a lighter broth like their seafood soups or a more rich broth like their chicken soup. Each is flavored so well. I personally love the long noodles more than the flat noodles but both are cooked to the perfect texture with a slight chew. I recently tried their chicken dish that is a little pricier but so worth it. The portion is absolutely huge and there's so much in it from the chicken to rice cakes and even glass noodles. We got it for take out and it came in two big containers. It's a restaurant that's perfect for a comforting meal. They also have some of the best homemade kimchi and radish!
Very quaint spot for some simple home style Korean noodle soups offering long noodles (kalkuksoo)or flat noodles. (Sujebi). Their kimchee is spot! I'm not sure why I never tried this place! Their shrimp chive dumplings were delish! Cash tips only. Check out the pics of our meal!
Arirang feels homey, the kind of mom-and-pop restaurant that comforts your soul on a cold day. We ordered the kimchi chicken and the kimchi seafood kalguksu. Very generous with the portion size and so much mussels, clams, and shrimp in the seafood kalguksu.
The restaurant offers multiple high chairs and is pretty kid friendly. The portion sizes are pretty big and the soup is super comforting on a cold day. The texture of the flat noodles was perfect - chewy and not soggy. The service was quick. The waitresses speak Chinese, Korean and English. Definitely recommend and would love to come back again!
Great spot for chicken based noodle soup dishes (you won't find beef dishes here). We ordered the chicken soup with flat noodle, a small chicken ginseng soup with rice and a seafood scallion pancake. The soup dishes were light but you can tell they make the soup from scratch with care. This would be perfect for days when you're feeling under the weather or need something warm to pick you up. The pancake was nice and crispy with a tasty dipping sauce. The complimentary kimchi and radish were fresh and delicious. We will be back to try the chicken porridge one day. Service was friendly and efficient. Note: there was a sign requesting that gratuities be in cash.
Very mom and pops type of restaurant! The kimchi seafood pancake was a solid 10/10. The pancake was packed with ingredients and crispy and also not oily! I really enjoyed the pancake. Ordered the kimchi seafood flat noodle as well and felt that it was okay as well as the kongguksu which is kind of like cold soybean noodle. The noodles were chewy which I liked but it was pretty bland. It was my first time trying the konguksu so I wasn't really sure how it's supposed to taste like but def not for me. I would come back again to get the pancake and try something else!
Updating my review to show Arirang some more love! I'm genuinely convinced that if I had to choose a last meal, it would be Arirang's chicken kalguksoo. This seemingly simple bowl of noodles is perfect in every way, and always hits the spot. The broth is so deeply savory, flavorful, and comforting. Portions are consistently generous, even with inflation through the years. Every order promises a heaping portion of noodles, chicken, scallions, and potatoes. I personally prefer the long noodles (kalguksoo), but the sujebi (flat noodle) is also a solid choice. For the indecisive, order both! On self care days, I usually make the trek to Arirang from Brooklyn just to enjoy their noodles. Service is always kind and friendly, and they're quick with any kimchi/radish refills. Prices have gone up a bit to around $18/bowl of noodles, but again, the portions remain generous. Cash is still preferred for tip. Parking is a bit difficult around this area, but doable. One things for sure - the parking difficulties are worth it to enjoy a meal here!
This is the place for good noodle soup! I went to a similar restaurant selling the same dishes, but Arirang does their noodles better. They do not overwhelm the soup with a surplus of noodles, allowing you to taste the hearty flavor. I got the Chicken Noodle Soup, which had a strong garlic flavor in the soup, but delicious! The chicken was incredibly tender. The Kimchi Seafood Pancake was an unique offering and tasted great, but I just personally prefer more of that pancake in my bite. These are great though if you prefer more crispy shell, loaded with large ingredients. They did not skimp on their seafood pieces! The service was also amazing, with a constant water refill. I would come back to try more of their noodle soups!
Ginger chicken soup was really good. If you're ever sick and need something soupy, healthy, and delicious, this is the one to get. Good for the winter time too. The service was alright; not warm, but also not cold. The atmosphere was fine too. Everyone is usually to themselves. Just come for the food!
We tried this place for the first time. We were craving soup on this chilly day. A friend recommended this place so we had to try. This is not a large restaurant so if you go on a weekend, make sure to get there before prime meal times. We got there just before 12:30 on a Saturday and was able to grab the last four person table. Mind you this is Queens so parking is scarce. Plan ahead. I'm not sure if this is a family business, but the people waiting and bussing the tables were older, Korean woman. I don't mean this in a negative way, just found it unusual since most restaurants we've been to have been mostly serviced by younger people. Now to get to the food. This restaurant specializes in noodles, specifically, kalguksu and sujebe. I think the ingredients used to make both are the same but the shapes are different. Kalguksu are noodles and sujebe are flat pieces, easier to eat. I ordered the chicken with the flat sujebe. It was very deep in flavors and the sujebe was the perfect texture. I would have preferred thicker pieces I think that's just a personal thing. We also ordered the seafood scallion pancake. We order this whenever we can, and in recent times we have usually been disappointed. The pancakes are too doughy, too greasy or don't have enough seafood. We were not hopeful when we ordered so we're pleasantly surprised and actually really enjoyed it. It was crispy and full of seafood, perfect in my opinion. There is no ambience here. You are definitely coming here just to eat the food. There were about four tables of just one person enjoying a large bowl of soup and noodles. I do feel they didn't do a great job of seating people. Two of the single diners were placed at four person tables. I guess when they're not busy, it's not an issue, but when there's a line out the door, it did seem a bit wasteful. This placed really hit the spot on a cold winter day. One last thing, no AMEX cards and tips need to be in cash.
I had ordered chicken noodle at 11:15 then my order was cancelled by merchant or Doordash dasher at 11:56 I was very disappointed I thought I was gonna get a refund or credit, had chat & also call but never was able to get my Refund $21.13. DoorDash rip me off! Never ordering from DoorDash again deleted DoorDash App! such a bad customer service when the merchant or Dasher cancel on you! DoorDash won't refund! WTF!! Never again!
This spot was adorable. Tiny petite Asian ladies with big personalities. The lady kept saying I got the VIP table because I came alone. She was cracking me up. I got the wide noodles with kimchi and chicken. She told me it's not good with tofu. Lmfao. The portions are pretty big. Most people took the food to go. Tip is cash only. So I paid by card, rushed to find a bank to pull out cash (luckily Chase was a block away). The ladies were appreciative and sweet. It's a cute spot with a lot of local clients. Adored it.
Always a great spot to cure hangovers and for a rainy day, this is my backup restaurant for when I'm craving Kalguksu or Sujebi and my number 1 is closed. We came in and got seated quickly, we ordered right after I had the Chicken Sujebi with pork dumplings my girlfriend got the Kimchi Seafood Sujebi. They are so attentive that they moved us to larger table once it became available, such a nice touch and a far cry from my previous visits While my chicken Sujebi was as I was expected my girlfriend wasn't happy that hers only had one shrimp! Aside from that this place is great!
Never knew that hand pulled noodles had a Korean version. Lesson learned. Arirang specializes in hand pulled (or knife cut noodles) in a plethora of broths for one to try. The choices of broth are chicken (clean and fresh tasting), anchovy (clear and light) as well as seafood (really deep). They also include freshly pulled noodles and veggies in a huge bowl for you to enjoy. There isn't much to say other than it's really well done and has great subtle flavors. On top of that, their seafood pancake was also really crispy and well done. Service is prompt and polite. This place is pretty popular so it's always fairly crowded. A welcome addition to the pulled noodle category in Flushing. read more

If you want some really really good homemade style chicken noodle soup, then this hidden gem is the right place to be. They use fresh organic chicken they catch from the farms everyday. So crazy at this modern day and age that people still actually put the extra effort to give you fresh quality food. The chicken Ginseng soup and the chicken flat noodle soup is what I always get. Stuff is good for a cold or a hangover. ( chicken soup is cooked for hours and hours to assure you to get the natural favor and taste ) And the seafood pancake if fresh and crispy I hate it when it's made soggy. read more
I love their noodle soup a lot. I usually come here for the chicken sujebi instead of kalguksu. The chicken soup is very earthy and very flavorful. You can sort of taste the ginseng flavor when you slurp lol. I had the chance to taste the seafood noodle soup and it's not as flavorful or earthy as the chicken but you can really taste the seafood based broth. Sujebi is more like a torn style noodle and the kalguksu is like a hand-pulled long noodle knife cut version. I personally like the sujebi more than kalguksu because I do find that it enhance more flavor of the broth. The sujebi is also chewy as well. I read some reviews that there is racism going on in this restaurant, but I came here twice and I never once experienced anything like that. The servers were all friendly and nice. read more

If you have a cold or hangover this is the place for you. The soups will heal your soul. Environment 4/5 This is very clean, simple and causal. Food 5/5 One page menu that focuses mainly on the noodle soups. Chicken and the seafood are the main soups and you can pick between long noodle or pan noodles. Long noodles are thinner and softer noodles, pan noodles are wider and chewer noodles. I personally love the chicken with pan noodles. Their broths are always super flavorful. Service 4/5 The staff here are nice just got to speak up. Overall 4.5 (25%environment, 50%food, 25% service) read more
Local Korean hand pulled noodle in flushing with authentic kimchi, radishes and hot tea. The servers were more than happy to fill up the tea and side dishes with a smile! Big plus is that portion is huge and the quality is not any less! We ordered the seafood pan noodles $14 (next time we would like to try half hand pulled and half pan noodle) and seafood pancake $17! I have got to say, both were delicious and here's why. The seafood pancake might as well be the best that I've had because it is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a generous amount of seafood! Because of its portion size, we get to pack some to go for breakfast the next day to sustain the joy of this yumminess. The seafood noddle is topped with spinach and an abundance of clams and the soup is basically a pool of clams juices, so so on point. Texture, taste, price, environment, and customer service are all checked! I would definitely come back to try others and highly recommend! read more
Comfort food done right! Generous portions of hand pulled noodles in a delicious broth. Definitely a neighborhood type joint/ family run type store so dont go expecting Michelin starred service and you won't be disappointed. read more

Fraud calling "anchovy noodle soup" as such because there is absolutely no anchovies in there. No fish in sight. Only vegetable soup. When asked, they said the anchovy is in the soup. What?! The soup had no taste whatsoever. Just chicken broth. read more
I came here with two friends on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't too busy - we were seated immediately. It's not a huge restaurant but very spacious and looked clean. Street parking available! The waitress speaks both Chinese and Korean - thankfully my Korean friend ordered so I'm not even sure if they speak English. I ordered the Kimchi seafood noodles and my friends got the regular seafood noodles. All three bowls came with a lot of mussels but had one shrimp... I like mussels but I like other types of seafood too... so is it really a seafood noodle soup? Not really. It was yummy though! I liked the kimchi taste, not too overbearing either. The noodles were a little soggy though, disappointing. They offered kimchi as a side dish, free refills! The check came out to around $15 per person with tips, not too expensive for the big bowl, but there are better places. read more
I find it ironic that Arirang does so well, not because the food doesn't taste good, on the contrary, it's probably the best place to get Kal Gook Soo, (home made noodles in soup), but because back in the day of pre-industrialized Korea, Kal Gook Soo and Soo Jae Bi, was the ultimate peasant food. Arirang keeps it simple, their menu is comprised of many variations of the same thing. Kal Gook Soo and Soo Jae Bi and they do it well. If you've never had it you won't regret trying this old school traditional meal. They serve it with 2 different types of Kimchi and that's about it for side dishes. So if you are accustomed to getting a tableful of banchan don't expect it here. They know what their forte is and they are sticking to it. Their Kimchi (traditional napa) and Ggak doo gi (radish kimchi) really goes well with this meal. I had the dak kal gook soo, (chicken noodle soup) and it was really good. the Broth was really savory and flavorful and the noodles were really chewy and seasoned perfectly. read more
Oh my god, I would give 10 stars if I could. I came here to have kalkuksu with my mother-in-law and husband and found out that they also have sujebi (for those who are not familiar with Korean food, kalkuksu is a hot noodle in a different types of broth and sujebi is randomly hand torn apart large pieces of noodle). I ordered sesame sujebi and my husband for chicken sujebi and my mother-in-law got seafood sujebi. It did take more than 15 minutes for the food to come out because they make every order fresh, but WOW, every dish we got was absolutely delicious!!!!! I dare say that this place makes kalkuksu/sujebi as good as Myeongdong Gyoja (the most popular kalkuksu restaurant in Seoul and my favorite restaurant of all time). I came back the next day to have a different kind of sujebi and I ordered kimchi seafood sujebi. This place didn't disappoint me. Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! I wish I could have every meal from this restaurant. read more
I was craving kimchee jiggae on a Monday and this place popped up on my yelp search. Not very busy around 5:30/6pm. We ordered the seafood pancake (15.99) because it was so highly recommended. It definitely did not disappoint considering how most places skimp out on the seafood part. Lots of squid (which I love). My friend and I also order the kimchee soup with pan noodles (10.99). I've never had fat pan noodles at Korean restaurants before but it reminded me of Xi'an's hand pulled noodles. Flat and very springy. It went well with the kimchee jiggae--which was surprisingly sort of spicy. The bowl itself was HUGE. Lots and lots of noodles inside. We never reached the bottom. The Korean aunties working there spoke English and Chinese. They were pretty pleasant and was kind enough to ask if we needed refills for the kimchee. I would like to try their chicken ginseng or anchovy soup base next time. read more
To my knowledge, this place is fairly new - and I welcome it with open arms. I love that many of the Korean restaurants in the Queens area are themed. You know where to go for food A, food B... where not to go for food C.. and a DUH for food D. Well this place is a duh for their kalguksu (noodle soups) and seafood pancakes. Whether choosing the noodle option or the lumpy option (I like the lumps better, feels more home made??) - they are equally delicious, soul warming and tingly. On a cold winter day or a stressful summer day - I can see this place really hitting the spot. One bowl is also enough to share if you order an appetizer..... seafood pancake anyone? The pancake is so greasy, and so crispy and so worth the $12. (more than the price of a giant bowl of noodles) - get it. You won't regret it. Parking may be a challenge but the surrounding roads are shaped so funny, you really shouldn't have a problem. Credit card OK! And service isn't as pushy as you'd think for a small-ish place. read more

I was hesitant at first to try this place given it's rating, but after having lunch here with a friend during Thanksgiving I gotta say, I'm suprised. First of all, this place has absolutely HUGE portions. I ordered the "chicken with handmade noodles" (Chicken Kalgooksu). The chicken, noodles and the soup all work in unison to give you satisfaction in every bite and sip. The chicken really just melts when you bite into it, and the noodles... let's just say you'll be scavenging for that last slurp that's on the bottom of the bowl. You seriously can't go wrong with this! Our server was a nice young lady and was very attentive, even though the place was pretty packed she never let our kimchi dish go empty, which is kinda important to me since I love having a bite of kimchi with every bite of my food. Arirang is not your typical Korean restaurant you'll find in flushing, so I'd recommend you try this out if you're craving some good Korean food or just want to try something "different". read more
The space feels a bit tight, but it is a good restaurant. I arrived on a Monday afternoon, and the place was full. There were 14 or so tables, and people were sitting shoulder to shoulder. We were told to wait and look at the menu. Our order was taken before we were seated, and the food arrived just a couple of minutes after we got our table. I have no complaints about the food or service. It was actually the best chicken noodle soup I ever had. It reminds me of a place called Mat Baram which closed down a while ago, except I think this one is slightly better. The server was also very friendly.. (she spoke both Chinese and Korean). I expect myself to be a regular from now on, especially during the winter months. read more

Definitely not your ordinary korean noodle house. Everything tasted super authentic and homemade. Leek and shrimp dumplings - good. Clam noodle soup - Better. Chicken noodle soup - Best. The noodles are handmade and the portions are huuuge. As a side note, the specials are listed in korean only for some reason, and the waitress had a hard time explaining what they were exactly. Kimchi is complimentary. You can opt for either sujebi (hand torn flat noodles) or kalguksu (knife cut long noodles) read more

I come here pretty frequently with my mom to get the sujebi & mandoo. It's good (I used to hate sujebi/kalguksu). It's really big portions. The broth is super refreshing even though its hot. The kimchi & radish are pretty meh, but you come for the entrees. The food takes a while to come out though. But I guess the wait makes it taste better. Around the 5th time I came here, I came craving the jjimdak. It took more than half an hour to prepare, but they did warn us. But when it did come out, it was HUGE. The plate was over a foot in diameter. It was like enough to feed 3 people. It's not easy to find jjimdak, and ever since I had it in Seoul (where it's everywhere). It definitely wasn't as good as the one I had in Korea, but it was good. It was surprisingly spicy, but I'm sure you can just ask for them to not make it spicy if you want it mild. I'm going to try other jjimdak's in the city to compare, but it was good. If you're craving it, hungry, and you're not alone, stop by and get it. Be prepared to wait though. read more

Warm bowl of noodles in a hearty soup on a cold winter day, simply amazing. I definitely recommend the spicy seafood tofu noodle soup - especially if you like soondubu. The mussels and clams adds a sweet flavor to the savory and spicy soup. The noodles add an extra texture to your classic soondubu and takes in the flavor of the soup. For $10, the order can definitely fill two people. Great for lunch and dinner. Come in parties of 2-4. Service is quick and friendly. Parking is not difficult around the restaurant. It is a hidden gem amongst Korean food in New York. read more
