I've bought an expensive Mesa guitar amp, as well as a decent bass here since i found this shop a few months ago. It is my new favorite shop in DFW, and i have been to almost all of them. This shop is big enough to meet pro needs, but small enough to give great "mom and pop" service. (Unlike the big box stores like Guitar Sinner!) And the shop is VERY clean. Well stocked, but not a hoard like, oh, let's say... Animal Music in Garland. Ahem. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Not just beginners, but real musicians. And they care, (unlike "Charles's Guitars" ahem, where you are always a stranger to them.) Great prices, good selection of quality instruments, and old school personal help. The guys here are really friendly and helpful. My husband needed to restring his acoustic guitar and this was the perfect place, he bought the string and got it strung while we walked around and looked at the merchandise. What a fantastic guitar store. I posted a review on Google but thought I would post another on yelp. So a few weeks ago I brought my Martin in for a readjustment of the factory setting. I am a new student and erroneously beleived that the guitar would be perfect for me " out of the box". Big mistake. I practiced with it for a year with the factory setup and just couldn't seem to get anything correct. Sore fingers, missed notes etc. So I finally came to the realization something is wrong. Took my guitar to Archie's. Jason (owner) strummed a few notes and said in the most professional manner " man this setup really needs to be addressed" . The strings are way too high off the fret board. I was thrilled to know I could get my unit back in seven days. Great I thought. Seven days later (actually six) I received a call and I drove down from Flower Mound to retrieve my beauty. Man it was like I just bought I got a new guitar. Sound, resonance, string tension, and general ease of playing. I was in 7th Heaven. Jason explained what was done and a few more tips. When I asked the charges I was even more impressed. Guaranteed less than I thought. Great service, fair pricing and lots of good advice for a fledgling guitarist. Need help with your instruments? You can't go wrong here. There are so few honest, knowledgeable friendly shops around these days. I will emphatically say this one is top draw. These guys are fantastic. It is the only guitar store I have gone to in town where they treat you like a guest and a friend. They do NOT use high-pressure sales tactics to push you towards one specific brand, and they know what they are talking about! I am a beginner, and I always have a lot of questions, they do not treat me as though I am getting on their nerves. I have also started lessons with them and I have really enjoyed it. Go visit them! They were friendly enough and had some nice gear. I brought a guitar of mine for setup and after a couple weeks i got it back. I found that who ever they had work on my guitar did not know how to install strings on a guitar with locking tuners. also they scratched my head stock. I will not likely be coming back for work there... but maybe to shop... we'll see. read more

Over the last couple of years I have had a number of setups done here and bought several pedals and other accessories. The staff are always helpful and friendly. They remember you and though it is a small shop, if they don't have the perfect solution they are honest and offer to order it for you or help you find it when it is available. I was reminded today when I was looking for a pedal to chase a specific fuzz tone and they helped me set a bunch of gear up to to see if what they had in stock would work. It ended up being a great fit, but they didn't just try to sell me what they had - they tried to help me first. If you enjoy playing music, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. read more

I can't believe I found this place! I've been a guitar picker since I was a kid in the early 1970s. Two things I have learned is that #1, I'm not very good at it, and #2, I am better off not trying to make instrument adjustments myself, and that applies to most so-called guitar shops. I took my son's Epiphone Les Paul in for what I thought was going to be a very expensive overhaul. After deciding that the factory hardware was actually in good shape, they rewired her, set the rod in the neck, dressed the frets, and hand carved a new nut fret. They even encouraged us to try the existing pickups with new wiring before replacing them, and let me tell you, they sound great! I've played Gibson Les Paul's that weren't as easy to play and didn't sound as good! It's basically a new guitar, and only cost a fraction at what others would charge if they could actually do this fine a work. I have not been this impressed with a guitar shop in many many years. So far, I've only found three, Charleys Guitar Shop when Charley Wirz did the work himself, (or his protege Rene), and 30th Street Guitars in New York City, which is kind of far away, and Archies Guitars. And the place is clean, the guitars they have on the walls are clean and get this, in tune! And their staff doesn't have the spoiled surfer attitude so common in these places. I'm so glad I found this place. Anything that keeps you out of the mega stores and actually costs less is a no brainer for this old fart. Check them out. read more

I went in to get some strings changed last week. The service and friendliness was second to none. Not to mention prices were less than GC. I'm fairly new to playing guitar and John helped me pick out the right strings then walked me through the entire process and then spent some time making it sound right and play right. The store itself is really nice. Super clean and laid back. Needless to say I'm impressed and have found my main guitar shop. read more

After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to take my son and his Jackson to Archie's for a repair on the cord plug in jack. The parking lot was very full, so I dropped off my son and his guitar and went to find a parking space. By the time I parked and walked into the shop, John had already made the repair and was closing up the guitar!! When I went to get out my wallet to pay for the repair, John told me there would not be a charge for such a small repair. I know we've found the guitar shop we will use from here on out! John did a quick neck and fret adjustment on my acoustic and gave some solid advice about humidifying my guitar properly. I honestly can't say enough about this place. Went in here inquiring about a ukulele. The owner gave me the full rundown of every option they had and didn't try to sell me on lessons either, he actually told me I could learn on YouTube. I was going in simply to learn and use my amazon gift card to buy one online but they were so knowledgeable and nice I went back in the next day and bought.
