It was a great turn around time and I was ready for practicing. After a month my flute broke playing beeftink. I needed to buy a new flute. I had a flute store close to me although I knew of Carolyn's store, I let distance guide me to try the store in garland. I called ahead to tell them I was interested in purchasing a flute and I would like to try a few. We scheduled on a Friday for a Monday appointment and we decided on three flute before arriving. When I arrived at that garland store I was greeted as if he forgot about our appointment. I was given only one flute to try not the three spoken about. He let me know, in person, he did not have the stock. The room to try the flute was basically a cubical with a door. The guitar lesson next to me was my undesired duet, heard clear as day. It was uncomfortable. I wasn't worried and decided then, I would call Carolyn's store after leaving this garland store and make the appointment I should have made with them. I called Carolyn's store and they made the appointment with me a few days out to make sure I had an assistant in the room with me to help. I arrived and was given 12 flutes to test. 12, what a helpful visit. I had a dedicated assistant that answered all my questions. We stayed in that room for about 3 hours and I was able to take flutes home to trial in my own environment. I am so very grateful to them for all the assistance. I went back in with some final follow up questions and picked a few more headjoints to compare in the booth again before ultimately making my purchase that day. What a fantastic experience at Carolyn's Music Store. I am ever so grateful for them for the entire purchasing experience. I think I needed to be at the first location to prove there really isn't a better flute store than Carolyn's. I highly recommend them for anything flute related.

I visited Frisco Music Center because I was on the hunt for an electric guitar I couldn't readily…read morefind in other shops. Another music shop tipped me off that this place had several in stock, and upon calling I was delighted to discover that they did. Although they were initially asking over $100 more than some bigger guitar shops online, the manager agreed to match that price and I was able to take home a Yamaha Revstar! The shop itself is pretty cool. When you drive up on Main Street it appears there's a lot of construction and NOT a lot of parking, but this isn't the case - they have a spacious lot in the back. Enter through the black door and you'll find yourself emerging into the shop near a wall of ukuleles. The store basically appeared to have three areas. The first room had the strings, acoustic guitars, (maybe drums and keyboards, I'm not sure), etc. The second area seemed to have equipment for recording and maybe some effects. The third room was well worth traversing the labyrinthine layout for, because that's where they kept the electric guitars and pedals and guitar straps. Despite being a small business they have a great selection. The manager seemed super knowledgeable and helped me pick some extra strings to go with my new guitar at my request. One of the things that really stood out to me too is that they offer a 50% discount on set-up service when you buy a new guitar from them. Although the person who does it was out for the week, I fully intend to bring my guitar back in to get it set up for only 30-something dollars! (Although, it seemed to play great off the wall.) Overall this is a great local music shop and should be on every guitarist's radar.

I was a 5-star rater of Tone Shop until I went to sell a collection of guitars. Took weeks for…read morethem to respond and I had to follow up daily and then the price they gave was a great deal for them - not me, but I was willing so after hauling the guitars to their store, then it was every little issue with the guitars. the jack has static - 1979 would have that and a simple spray of deoxit but that equated to 500 dollars off their offer. The deal was for them, not me - looking around at their inventory, everything was marked up high so they were going to make double or triple from every guitar in the deal so I decided this was not good for me and called it off. No help getting the guitars in and no help getting the guitars out. And they were stuck on one they wanted to get for dirt cheap. Not a fair offer but lowball. I work in business and know there needs to be a margin, but theirs is around 80% if not 90%. Forget it!! They may have great items but run! You can get a better deal anywhere else with a staff that is not trying to blead you of every dime. Too bad since I proudly wore my Tone Shop Guitar shirt, told everyone about how great they are and the shirt has been tossed. Bottom line - you will get ripped off selling to a store anyway, but the lowball price and then the minor items their skilled staff can easily go through were obstacles and they used that for leverage. Real sleazy practice and a waste of my time! Again - the waste of time was the largest insult of all! Great items and I'm sure the staff is nice, but after this experience I will never buy or recommend this store. This could have been so much better and I'm still very surprised with such a low offer I was willing accept and they wanted to reduce that more for a collection that they would have been making profit hand over fist with the traffic they get.
