Rigged case handle...key ring holder and zip ties :(
Weston B.

To begin things off here, they advertised my online purchase as having a case with a replaced handle, while they failed to mention that the handle was zip-tied on. Mind you, this was a $4,000+ purchase of a used, 2004 Bourgeois acoustic guitar. It should also be noted that the packaging of the guitar was done haphazardly, with both the case not fully secured in the shipping box and the guitar left to move about freely in its less-than-snug case. Fast forward a month and a half and I noticed the bridge lifting. Having no luthier options around me I'm now having to purchase tools to fix a guitar that I just purchased and still owe $3,500 on. All things considered, you're likely better off going somewhere else for an online purchase.

Bass player for Albert Cummings
Rebecca N.

Great evening with Albert Cummings at the Sanctuary in McKinney. Cocktails and appetizers were available. Band rocked the house! Standing ovation! Bass player was epic! Guitar solo was spot on! Drums too.

This place rocks! They have an awesome collection of high end acoustic and electric guitars. Lessons, expert guitar repair, sweet amps, and a lot of fun stuff. If you love the guitar, then you must visit the Sanctuary. The intimate performance hall next door is an unbelievable experience. Great audio and a small venue with a cash bar. Whoo hoo, you should see a show here on a Fri or Sat evening. We are 25' from the stage! Don't miss it!

The hairline fracture on my old Gibson is now pretty invisible after their awesome restoration

Cool store, but don't bother going in unless you're planning to spend over $2k on a guitar because they have almost nothing below that.

When I got it back, the intonation was still off and I'm not sure they really did anything. They also told me it would be available on Tuesday but they never called. When I called they were closed. I guess they closed early for the holidays. I left a voicemail and never got a call back. I ended up having to call them a few days later and was told it was ready. It would have been nice to get a call telling me what was done and when it was ready. TLDR: Might be a good shop but poor communication means I'll go elsewhere.

Coming in from Florence to visit my in-laws who live just down the road from this shop, I had to…read moreswing by and check them out on this trip as I have been meaning to for the last five years. Brett Morrison greeted me upon entering and gave me the tour of his cute little boutique guitar shop. I call it boutique because they have their own line of guitars and are so far removed from the heartless Guitar Center experience. They are a huge breath of fresh air in a soulless world of shopping mass produced guitars that are average at best. Their guitars are not for beginners looking for cheap $150 starter guitar kits. But if you have been playing for a few years and like me know that it's more than just a passing interest, they have some wonderful instruments. They have their own guitar line designed to their specs and after handling them I can tell you that the construction and finish on them are excellent! I found a few that really peaked my interest, and Brent spent a lot of time with me showing me different guitars and just shooting the breeze with me, without the hard sell which was much appreciated. Check this place out if you're n the neighborhood, you won't be disappointed.

Tone Shop Guitars - I know my "V"'s

Tone Shop is one of the best guitar stores in DFW, if not the country. The staff are really…read morefriendly and very helpful. Tone Shop stocks a wide variety of new and used instruments, as well as amps, pedals, etc. In terms of new guitars, you can expect to find Fender, Gibson, PRS, and Reverend - and maybe more - for electric. Taylor, Martin, Gibson, and more for acoustic. The cool thing though is they carry a range of instruments in these brands. You can buy anything from a Squier, Epiphone, or PRS SE up to a Core PRS or even a Custom Shop Fender or Gibson. And I don't just mean they have a single custom shop guitar on display, they have like a whole wall of high end Fenders and another for Gibsons. It's kind of fun to go in there and see all those amazing guitars. They've got guitars that cost hundreds and guitars that cost thousands. While they might not always have the same range of brands as the bigger store (no new Schecter, EBMM, etc.), they have an amazing selection within the brands they do carry. There's something for everyone. They have a decent selection of pedals, including Boss, Strymon, and more. A small selection of pickups too. I bought one of my favorite guitar straps from them. They've really got a lot of cool stuff! They also have sales periodically, and some great deals can be had! If you sell used gear to them or trade in toward something else, their prices aren't going to be as high as you could get selling it yourself online - but are fair for selling to a retail store. I think you can do a "sell in store" deal through Reverb with them too. I've been really happy with the guitars I've bought from them, and the shopping experience. They also do repairs, pickup swaps, etc. I'm pretty sure this location also offer PLEK. I've never done that myself, but I'm kind of curious about it and might take a guitar in go through the machine some day. Sometimes they host events at the store too. Overall I'd highly recommend Tone Shop in Addison.

Richard was extremely kind and easy to work with and offered for me to try out the bass before I took it home so he could fine tune the action to get it to my perfect height. In the end, he set up my bass with silky smooth low action as requested and I have to say, this bass has never played better! The action was just at that perfect sweet spot where the neck played like butter but high enough to where the notes really sing. Ever since I took it home, I haven't been able to put it down. The bass is just a joy to play and plays the best its ever played since owning it! I swear I'm not exaggerating when I it's just about the best set up I've ever had on this bass. It should be noted I also came in with some issues on the headless hardware that were unique enough to not have an easily searchable answer on google. I told Richard and, after working on my bass, he gave me some tips to try and so far, they've worked like a charm. At no extra charge too! I really cannot recommend this place enough. If you're looking to have any kind of work done on your instrument for a fair price with supberb customer service and expertise, you owe it to yourself to try out Richardson Guitar Works. This place is the real deal!
