Nice guys, took my guitar in for a setup. Unfortunately, Never got to actually talk to the luthier or even got any info about my guitar or what he did. When I got it back, the intonation was still off and I'm not sure they really did anything. They also told me it would be available on Tuesday but they never called. When I called they were closed. I guess they closed early for the holidays. I left a voicemail and never got a call back. I ended up having to call them a few days later and was told it was ready. It would have been nice to get a call telling me what was done and when it was ready. TLDR: Might be a good shop but poor communication means I'll go elsewhere. read more

Coming in from Florence to visit my in-laws who live just down the road from this shop, I had to swing by and check them out on this trip as I have been meaning to for the last five years. Brett Morrison greeted me upon entering and gave me the tour of his cute little boutique guitar shop. I call it boutique because they have their own line of guitars and are so far removed from the heartless Guitar Center experience. They are a huge breath of fresh air in a soulless world of shopping mass produced guitars that are average at best. Their guitars are not for beginners looking for cheap $150 starter guitar kits. But if you have been playing for a few years and like me know that it's more than just a passing interest, they have some wonderful instruments. They have their own guitar line designed to their specs and after handling them I can tell you that the construction and finish on them are excellent! I found a few that really peaked my interest, and Brent spent a lot of time with me showing me different guitars and just shooting the breeze with me, without the hard sell which was much appreciated. i finally went ahead and got my PRS SE set up at morrison guitar shop, i honestly was always a little skeptical in terms of "how much of a difference could getting my sub $1000 guitar set up by a professional possibly make though.?" but with the intonation set perfect, and the low action with 0 frett buzz, and a fresh set of strings, im really impressed. now it feels and plays like a real PRS for under 90$. i would highly recommend getting your guitar fully set up here the next time you need to replace strings. read more

I have had nothing but great experience with Morrison Guitars. I previously posted an erroneous opinion that was purely out of ignorance. I am grateful for the gracious spirit and attitude that was shared by the owner Brett. He cleared my head of not only the existing confusion on my part but then took the time to educate me on the guitar store business in general as well as refining what little knowledge I had about guitars. I just want to say that I love this shop. I have been visiting this place for years and while I'm not their biggest customer, they always take excellent care of me. Over the past 5 years, I have purchased 4 guitars, 1 amp, several pick up installs, several repairs, countless strings, t-shirts, picks, etc. From Brett and the crew there. In a time when it isn't easy to keep a guitar shop open, the Morrisons have differentiated themselves from the pack by carrying excellent acoustic instruments that won't break the bank. Mitchell Morrison ( the in house luthier, builder, repair specialist ) has a magnificent line of guitars he has built by hand with his father, Brett and his uncle, Danny right there in the store. He has also designed a line that is built by small batch luthiers in China that are just exceptional - more tailored to the budget conscious. I have the mahogany top model - D75M I believe. I have owned several US made acoustic guitars over the years and this hangs with any one of them. It also has one Mitchell's hand built pickups installed. I get compliments on the way this guitar looks and sounds constantly. I recently bought a late 90's Jumbo Guild from Morrison's that sounds amazing. It was set up and ready to go when I picked it up last week. I went back this week with a pick up for Mitchell to install in it. I was planning to drop it off, look at some of their Eastman guitars ( great value ) and come back when it was ready - usually no more than a couple of days. Within 20 minutes of looking at guitars Mitchell walks out holding my guitar - pick up installed. It sounded amazing of course because he is an excellent luthier / repair expert. That is service you will never get at Guitar Center, Sweetwater, Reverb or from buying on line. This is my favorite guitar shop.. Buying from people who care and want to make sure they are putting something you are happy with in your playing hands... What a concept. Went in for some new strings for two of my guitars. Their stock in the showroom area is limited, but the two dozen or so guitars on display were beautiful. There were entry level models to higher end pieces and one 12-string acoustic. Prices for everything seemed competitive and while overhearing a conversation about a bass that had developed a bow in the neck from being left out in a hot garage over the summer, the owner made a good impression on me as knowledgeable as he quickly assessed the condition and got a repair order made out for another customer. read more

So we went into this shop (an adorable space in an old home) to get my husband a tuner. I paid NO attention to the name of the shop. I played guitar when I was a child and the few times I've picked one up as an adult, my hands seemed too small to adequately get around the neck. I had given up. The instruments hanging on the wall were beautiful - Martins, Eastmans, and this brand with which I was unfamiliar...Morrison. (Oh. It gets better.) Danny and Brett both introduced themselves (first name only, but if they'd said "Morrison" I don't know that it would have clicked) and answered questions I had about why this guitar cost x and that one cost y. I finally got up the nerve to ask if a custom guitar could be built with a slender neck profile (yes) and how much do custom guitars run (depends). Eventually I picked up on the "we" and "our" pronouns (it's like a fog lifting, folks) and asked "Wait. Y'all MAKE guitars?!" Brett pointed toward the wall behind the guitars, made of plexiglass, through which I could see (you know...I could SEE when I LOOKED, for crying out loud!) a shop and guitars in various stages of construction. Long story longer: Mitchell Morrison (Brett's son and Danny's nephew) makes the guitars and has been making them since he was 15. I toured the shop, fell in love with a body that had just been started, ordered a guitar, visited my baby as she was gradually assembled, and picked her up today. She is beautiful, perfect, sounds like a million bucks, and sooo much easier to play! I can't speak highly enough of this experience. This is very much a small family business and we have felt like family from the get-go. Next stop: lessons...which are also offered on site. Amazing. Great local guitar shop. I take all my basses new and old, to get mods, setups, and just general advise and Mitchell and his father are always spot on. I believe the're not many basses that Mitchell works on, but you would think he is an expert! I used to take my guitars to Charlie's but it got to be to far, took several weeks and the work started to not be as it once was...Thank God for Mitchell and Morrison Guitar Shop. read more

Great service at this shop! I bought a Taylor from them and they installed pickups which sound fantastic. I have since bought several items from them from a ukelele for my little nephew to strings to a DI box. They were able to fix the bridge on my brother's old Gibson which used to belong to my grandfather (no repair places around Dallas were willing to try) and it is like new! They even fixed my mom's violin for her. They are up front with you and won't upsell you on anything you don't need, family owned and operated. Plus... they just know a TON about guitars and have tons of experience playing them so they know what is needed in practice. read more
