If you want to deal with an over inflated ego, name dropper, and almost seems to lie at times given he isn't 100 but has stories upon stories of accolades he supposedly haves this place is for you. My husband is in a band and had some work done. The big, tall guy in the shop cant seem to get to work several times a week and if he does he shows up and opens up late. He had our guitar for well over the time frame he should have, wouldn't return calls or texts and never showed up to open the place up for pickup for our instrument! He would tell us he is sick or had car trouble or sometimes never update us. Go somewhere else. read more

These guys are awesome. I once had my Martin DC-16GTE fall in its case onto concrete and had multiple crack plus two major separations on the side. I received the worst service I have ever received from Kenny Kranzow at Texas Guitar Workshop. I came in to have my seven string set up for Drop F. I was very excited at the time because I had been wanting a seven string for a while, and I was still in high school, so I had no money for quality instruments or set ups. The first red flag was that Kenny told me Drop F didn't exist, which is ridiculous for obvious reasons. Then, after I told him the exact notes I wanted each string to be tuned to, he told me that the labor required to set up a guitar in such a low tuning would be intensive. He acted annoyed that I requested a setup in Drop F and acted like he would be performing extreme modifications on my guitar. Keep in mind, this guitar has a scale length of 27 and is literally made to handle extremely low tunings. He then insulted my knowledge of guitars and my taste in guitars in several ways. He told me that the company I bought my guitar from (Legator) uses child slaves to build their guitars and that I should think twice about what instruments I buy. After I told him that my biggest gripe with the instrument was some fret buzz on the low F, he told me the guitar was trash and that I should use it as a decoration or a "lampshade". He suggested that I bought the guitar simply because I liked how it looked, and that I wasn't a respectable guitarist. Throughout our conversation he was consistently hostile, apathetic, and condescending. It was a terrible experience for me and my mom (she drove me) and it made me put down my seven string for weeks. He was rude to my mom, and implied she shouldn't have bought the guitar for me (it was a birthday present). If you play extended range instruments and are looking for a professional setup, I recommend the guitar sanctuary. Daniel is amazing and has always been very sensitive to the needs of my playing style. If the about page on the Texas Guitar Workshop website is correct, then Kenny Kranzow is a knowledgeable luthier. I'm sure many people have received quality set ups from him. However, this does not mean he knows anything about extended range instruments, nor does it mean he is respectful to all his patrons. read more

Kenny is probably the best guitar tech in town .... and a fantastic builder of shop made teles and strats. At any given time he'll have maybe 20 instruments on the wall for sale...acoustic and electric....old and new. Salt of the earth guy .... And a phenomenal guitar player to boot. read more

Excellent friendly service. Brought in a Les Paul with locking Kahler tremolo that had been sitting in a closet for 25 years. I walked in on a Friday afternoon and they had it completely restrung and dialed in and ready on Tuesday. They cleaned up the electronics, no more popping or static. It's held tune since I picked it up - plays better than it did new. Highly recommend. read more

Highly recommend! If you are looking for a highly skilled and knowledgeable guitar tech with well over 30 years experience Kenny K is your man. On most occasions he will sit and discuss whatever you need help (usually more than most in this business) and If you catch him on one of his off days please don't write him off. We all have bad days. Just know that musicians can be difficult a lot of the time and Kenny literally caters to them on a daily basis. He is a good man to know and have on your side. read more

I have had 4 guitars worked on here. Set ups are decent, usually a little low for my taste. If you ever play slide be sure to let them know, or your set up will be too low. Prices are good. Be aware that they will try and convince you that you need 75-150$ of fret work done even if you don't. Last time this happened I took my guitar for a second opinion and found out that the frets were fine. read more

Multiple times have I contacted Texas Guitar Workshop once with e-mail never got a reply. And I have called a few times to inquire about a few things only to receive rude snarky remarks. I called asking about getting a replacement pick guard made but whoever I was talking to just gave me a reluctant reply saying he could but it'd take a very long time and be very expensive as if he were not wanting to do it. I had also asked him whether I would need to provide my own knob or will they have some for a knob swap but he went in to an over complicated explanation about how it would be a long arduous process and how it might not fit. It clearly seems that they don't want to deal with any customers so why should I burden them with my requests or request from others. I'll do them a favor and do what they've been insinuating to me every time I try to contact them and not recommend them to anyone else so they don't have to deal with people. read more
