My favorite pizza! It is hard to describe the flavor and texture of the pie but it is delicious.

Being from Philly and loving food, pizza is probably my favorite. I was on my way to Cooperstown, NY and decided to try pizza in Old Forge Pa, the world capitol for Pizza. We went to Arcaro & Genell. Walked in at 12:30 on a Friday for lunch. The pizza was really good, BUT the service was the worst I have ever experianced in my life. They were busy, but what made is awful was that : 1. It took way too long to have our order taken. 2. Pizza came out in a reasonable time. 3. We asked for refills on drinks and sodas when the pixxa came 4. We had to eat our entire meal without a drop of soda on the table. 5. There was a big guy who looked the the owner and did not do a thing to help the lone waitress. 6. There was an older woman who took our drink order when we got there and about half way through my lunch, I asked her if she could get our drinks - she replied " someone will get them" , then walkd back into the kitchen. 7. When the waitress walk by the 6th time without our drinks, I asked her if she had forgotten us. She quipped back in a very argumentative tone " I havent for gotten anybody, Im just really busy" 8. I lfet barely a 10 %tip and probably shouldnt have done that. I would be very hesitant to return, ther are way too many choices in town. read more

This is the place for Old Forge pizza. I am not the biggest fan of the style but if you're going to have it this is the place to go. Don't confuse this place with the trashy imitation under a similar name by the Wal-Mart in Taylor. I wouldn't feed their food to a stray dog. I recently thru a anniversary party and ordered trays of food for takeout. The staff was very helpful and even threw in dinner rolls and butter for 80 guests at no charge. Waitress was concerned about socializing with another guest rather than tending to the rest of her tables. The food used to be good, but has gone downhill considerably. I ordered pasta with their vodka cream sauce and I got Kraft Mac & cheese. Food was very blah. I was warned not to go here anymore but I wanted to see it with my own eyes and haven't been here awhile. They were right. LOVE this place!! The eggplant is amazing, and there is no pizza that they serve that's not fabulous. My favorite is the red. The cheese practically melts in your mouth. You don't have to be a fan of Old Forge Pizza to fall in love with the pizza at this place. Totally worth the wait to get seated, and even though the tables are a bit close, it adds to the atmosphere. I have eaten here numerous times and never had food that wasn't delicious. Arcaro & Genell is a true gem! My wife and I were in the area and had heard about "Old Forge" Pizza. We made it to Main St. and found this gem. It was a Saturday Night and was hoping we could get a table. We had a drink at the bar...I recommend the house made sangria. It was great and very smooth. So newbies to the pizza game in Old Forge, our waitress gave us the in service on styles, portions, toppings, etc. What is really awesome about Arcaro & Genell is that you can actually order just a cut (piece) of any kind of pizza you want to try! So we went with a tray that was half sausage sweet pepper and half mushroom hot pepper. The crust was light, firm and crispy. The cheese is a rich blend and not the standard, boring shredded mozzarella! I like a smooth sauce free of tomato skins and chunks. Bingo..this sauce was right up my alley! Smooth, rich, flavorful and incredibly fresh. Amazing! The toppings were fresh. Their sausage is homemade, fresh and has spicy kick to it! Most italian sausage has too much fennel in it for my taste....not this italian por goodness. Get the sausage, it is their best seller. It is amazing pizza folks. You can taste the quality and love these folks put into their food..all of it! We also ordered a cut of the white pizza which is a stuffed pizza. The cheese, veggies, etc are sandwiched between two layers of crust. It was rich with cheese and spices. Very, very hearty cut for sure. A cheese lover's dream if the traditional red is not for you. Even the rice pudding we had for dessert was amazing! We inquired about getting some to take home along with our leftover pizza. Our wonderful waitress told us to visit their take away kitchen next door. So we paid the check and made our way over their. The take-away kitchen is a deli, take out counter and dessert shop all in one. Much to our surprise, we were waited on by Angelo, the owner. He was such a nice guy and you could tell he takes alot of pride in what he and his family do. Rightfully so in my opinion! They are culinary geniuses! We bought some rice pudding and their amazing olive oil. Gino even gave my wife some tips on recreating one of their appetizers! Really, what restaurant owner would take his time to do that?! None that I know of...I mean details on ingredients, preparation, spices, etc.! Just his kindness alone is reason enough for us to come back. Given all of the places in Old Forge, we rolled the dice and were not disappointed at all! It was a pleasant surprise. When in town, go to Arcaro & Genell's! I have eaten here often, last night I got home late from work and decided to order some take outs. This was the first time I ordered since the new store front take out area was added. THe girl grabbed the order which was. Chicken parm with penne pasta and a salad along with a tray of pizza. Once I arrived back home i could see the salad she grabbed out of the cooler was all brown so i tossed that. The chicken parm was reheated and tough , likely reheated in a microwave tossed that as well. The pasta under the parm was bland with some sauce that seemed worse than ragu. At 33 dollars , wish I had stopped elsewhere . Very disappointed because when I have eaten dinner or stopped for lunch to eat in I was happy with the food. read more

Not sure what all they hype is about... Got the OLD FORGE style pizza and wasnt sure if they were missing the American cheese blend or what.... I had Gemmas in Scranton years ago and to me I thought that was what OLD FORGE pizza was..anyway had revellos in the arena and they some what have it... It was a very busy Saturday night..the wait was long but the food was worth it. The linguini and clam sauce is the best in town!! I've tried it at many other restaurants and the sauce is always tasteless and watered down. Here the sauce is flavorful and loaded with clams. We are never going back. Cheese ravioli were undercooked and the plum Marinara Sauce had no taste. Waitress was unfriendly and more concerned with socializing with her friends. Came here for lunch. My husband ordered lasagna that was just ok. I ordered the pizza, because when in Old Forge, you order pizza. I got a white pizza with onions and tomatoes. The pizza style here is different than what I'm used to; you really can't compare it to pizza elsewhere. The crust was crispy on the bottom but the rest was thick and doughy. You almost couldn't tell texture-wise where the crust ended and the cheese began. It was a little over-garlicky as well. It wasn't bad, but if you're craving pizza of the typical Philly/NYC variety, you may not fill your craving here. read more

Good food, but did not feel welcome by our waitress. We have 4 small children and she seemed annoyed by this, maybe it's just her personality. I expect other patrons to give us dirty looks when a child cries (some did, others smiled and I thank you) but we have been here in past and did not feel uncomfortable as I did this time. The atmosphere is classic - there's a bocce court outside - but the whole experience is marred by Fox News blasting behind the bar. Been here four times in past six weeks. Pizza is very good, especially double-crust white. Service is classic Old Forge (friendly and reasonably efficient under a slightly surly exterior). Fresh pasta and sauces are very good (avoid the "imported" pasta... it's supermarket box stuff... but the homemade pasta is heaven). Portions are large. Rice pudding for dessert is the best I've ever had. You can also get a tray of par-cooked pizza to bake at home. read more

We were in the area due to my husbands job. Looked up reviews on Yelp and they seemed destined. They sat us in a booth and took forever to get menus. It was even longer for them to take our drink orders. I got an unsweetened ice tea and needed sugar. They forgot to bring me sugar on my first and once again on my second one. I had to ask twice for the sugar. Once our meal was taken it was 1 hour until our food came out. My husband wanted to walk out a couple of times. When the food came out (I ordered eggplant parmigiana) the eggplant was so fried I couldn't even put my fork in it or cut it. It really upset me since it took so long to finally get it. The waitress offered to get me another one but we did not have time to wait for another one. She did take it off the bill but it was very upsetting since I was so hungry. If you are not in a rush and like extra crispy food, then by all means try. I know one place I will not be going back to. read more

Fabulous! Let me tell ya--A&G's mail-order service can't be beat. The dough was so fresh and the pizza was awesome when we heated it up. It is packed very well--granted, I did receive it in 40 degree weather, but it was still frozen when received. All Old Forge Style Pizza is similar and all very very good , take your pick but I like A/G as well as Ghigerelli's the best but Salerno's, Revello's,, and Brutico's are all great as well. Wherever you can get a table. O.F. Pizza is not a hand tossed round Pizza made with Mozerell ...The dough is light and crust is square not round , Cheese soft (think mixture of Velvetta and American) and sauce medium sweet , I can eat a whole tray when I'm hungry because is so light and delirious. if you never had this type pizza run don't walk to Old Forge . ANOTHER PIZZA TIP: 30 mins from Old Forge is a town called Peckville, you will find Andy's Pizza on Main Street ..Andy's is freaking amazing as well . Most of us who grew up in the area argue about what's best O.F. Pizza or Andy's Pizza ...both unique and similar type Pizza ,it's a tough call . I advise you eat both often, imo O.F.
