We were here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place was not busy at all. We were greeted by a young female staff as soon as we walked in. She told us to sit anywhere we want. An older female staff, our waitress gave us the menu right away. After about 5 minutes or so, our waitress took our order. Took about 20 mins for the food to come out. We ordered the red and the white. The red pizza were decent at most. It's definitely not fresh. It's reheated. Taste like most Sicilian pizza out there. Actually, taste somewhat like a school lunch pizza. The white pizza were delicious though. It's a garlicky bread with cheese filling. Lots of cheese! Service was just decent at most. Our waitress was not friendly or attentive. Not sure if we'll go back. We'll most likely try another spot if we happen to be in the area. read more

Found Revello's when the other place across the street only had take out. It was a Sunday afternoon between lunch and dinner, so there was plenty of seating. The waitress/bartender was friendly and service was fast. We devoured a red tray pizza. The crust was crisp, the cheese was creamy, and the sauce had a hint of onion. Someone needs to select a new pizza capital because this isn't it. We walked in and it was dead on a Friday evening which was the first read flag. The high school girl working the bar (don't know if that's legal) didn't even acknowledge us we walked in so we grabbed our own menus and sat down after about 5 minutes I had to walk up and ask if we ordered at the bar and she said she would be right there. Ten minutes later she came over and took our order. The entire time the staff was coming out of the kitchen and pouring themselves whiskey and Coke and beers. One female staff member was walking around with a bottle of Malibu and a bottle of 1800 tequila. It was crazy. Our 12 slice pizza came out with only 10 and the waitress said the two slices on the end fell off and asked if we still wanted them??? Seriously. The pizza was lukewarm I and smelled like cleaning products or bleach. You can tell the pizza was cold because the pepperoni wasn't even cooked or crispy. My daughter got the spaghetti with butter which cost $13 (insane) and also smelt like bleach. We asked for parmesan cheese and instead of a cheese shaker container they brought out a plastic cup of cold clumped up horrible Parmesan cheese. What pizza place doesn't have Parmesan in shakers?? Curb appeal is great, decor is very "period" (vinyl seats, tall booths, coat racks everywhere). Service was very kind but not particularly speedy, I think that's just the vibe of the place. Red pizza is sweet tomato sauce with a chewy bread-ish bottom, light cheese. White pizza is some sort of cheese encased in dough but it's flat. See photos. Rosemary shake and whatnot on top of the white pizza. Potato pierogi's were great, HEAVY though. Actually all of it was really heavy. If you have gallbladder issues just skip right over the white pizza and the pierogi. You'll have a gallbladder attack. I'm very glad this establishment has indoor dining - the place across the street doesn't even have a dime in option, which is trash when you're just traveling through town like we are. On our pizza crawl of the city, this half tray of red was our car pizza. I have only ever gotten take out from here before, but we took some time to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink as well, and found a very clean welcoming atmosphere. The pizza was delicious, the sauce a little on the sweet side, which is not my preference, but it was more fruity that sugary sweet. I thought I was going to not like this as much as the cheese forward salerno's down the street, but I was very pleasantly surprised and always happy to be proven wrong. read more

Been going to Old Forge for over 60 years. Tried them all. Many are very good but Revellos is absolutely the best. White or red are both delicious. Do not listen to the 1 or 2 star revues. Go yourself and try. My suggestion, always ask for crispy and extra seasoning on top of the white. read more

Just moved to the area and have been trying all of the Italian restaurants. This is so far the worst place I have ordered from. The portions were small compared to the price. While on the "boys weekend" we decided to take the 40 minute drive to experience the "pizza capital of the world" by coming to Revello's. We were not impressed. We entered at 12:10 (opened at 12) to a completely empty restaurant. After multiple hollers to find if anyone could help, the kitchen staff came out to say where we could sit (the green spots due to COVID-19) and that the waitress should be coming shortly. The waitress finally showed, and we were able to order. Apparently there are some rules as to how many cuts (slices) have to be ordered. I ended up with a broccoli white cut, and three red cuts with meatball. A cut is about the size of a iPhone with a large case. The broccoli was nice and crispy with a tasty baked layer of cheese and minimal broccoli. The red cuts were not as crispy, and surprisingly a little cold. The cheese blend is a lot of American which I just could not get used to. The meatball slices were good, but had a spoonful of unheated sauce on top. My friend had three red cuts with onion, and he also had a plain white. He, too, was not impressed. Way too much goopy American cheese, and not that hot or crisped. He did like his two pumpkin beers, though. Yelp check-in got us a free "homemade" cannoli. The waitress was nice enough to give us two! My friend said that all the pizza places in this famous area known for their pizzas all use the American cheese. I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. Glad, though, we did check it out. Service was friendly, but inattentive to our needs. Said she'd get what we needed, but went off to complete other tasks before forgetting about us and then apologizing. There was a huge water puddle that was caused by the closers last night, and the waitress only partially cleaned it up even having a kitchen staff come to look at it and it was never attended to our whole meal. Pizza is definitely rushed and no where near what is was in years past. The staff is either completely clueless or down right rude. We watched a table of six get up and walk out after no server even took their drink order for 22 minutes. It took 25 minutes to take our order and all our food came out at the same time. My bf had been wanting to go to Old Forge to get pizza for a long time. We finally got the opportunity, as we were staying with friends who'd rented a vacation home in Damascus. We got them all excited about the pizza in Old Forge. We picked Revello's because we got there kind of late, and they stayed open til 8p. Plus, it looked like more of a sit-down place than some of the others, and we had a big group. Ugh, I feel so bad that we convinced our friends to go there. This place was such a disappointment. Not only that, the wait staff were forced to wear awful shirts saying "Sorry we're short staffed, but nobody wants to work anymore." Revello's Cafe is located just across the street from Arcaro & Genell. But could Revello's make the cut for the best pizza? I was ready to put them to the test. Upon entering, I noticed a completely different vibe from Arcaro & Genell -- with Revello's being a little more casual with a family-dining feel. Well, a family vibe with a bar. This is Northeast Pennsylvania after all! I grabbed a spot at the bar along with a handful of locals here to watch the Philadelphia Eagles game on the TV sets. I ordered a cut of the red and a cut of the white pizza. What makes Old Forge pizza so different -- besides the way to order it -- is the blend of cheeses. While it's different at each restaurant, it generally includes classics like mozzarella, Parmesan and Pecorino. But it also has a heavy mixture of cheeses like American and Cheddar. Out of the 3 stops I visited on my pizza crawl around Old Forge, I loved the taste of the pizza here the best. The cheese was gooey and plentiful. It also seemed to lean heavy on using melted American cheese (which may sound disgusting, but is pretty mind-blowing!). I could only imagine what our fellow LA foodies would think of this combo. But don't just take our word for how good it is. The spot has been visited by Hilary Clinton, former Governor John Heinz and even Ozzy Osborne, to name a few. And you can't beat the price -- just $1.25 for the red cut and $2 dollars for the white cut. Like at the other pizza stops, I majorly overcompensated and tipped nearly 100 percent. As a NJ/NY guy I found the pizza a bit different. Did remind me however of pizza that some of ancient family members would make at home, back in the early 60's. I'll stick with NYC or Chicago pizza. On a different note, our server April was wonderful. Attentive , cheery and ready to answer any questions we had about Old Forge and the menu. My wife enjoyed some homemade raviolis while I had a porketta sandwich with peppers, mushrooms and melted mozzarella. The sandwich was a 10! I would highly recommend it. Three stars is the rating. Everybody knows the rules. The "red" is really not bad. Almost like a homemade Elios pizza out of the freezer aisle. Square pan pizza with a little crisp on the edges. If we return, I'll ask for it to be overcooked a few minutes to develop a little more crunch. The "white" was only truly edible to my toddler. It's less Pizza and more a cheese stuffed pizza dough pocket. We took most of it home and are going to find a way to dress it up. We also ordered a plate of meatballs (3 for $10). The meatball itself was good. Hearty and no filler. The sauce of acidic sweet with a hint of ketchup. Not my jam. I dunked some of breaded provided (a dense soft load) into the sauce more of obligation to try it than true desire. Extra point because I ordered a fountain coke and it was extra-syrupy. I came in with some locals who said this was the one to go to. We literally sat at the bar for 10 minutes to order a beer until attention was paid to us. We then sat at a booth and it was the same. They had one waitress/bartender on a Saturday afternoon and she was completely disconnected. As for the pizza I wasn't feeling it. I came home to Scranton to visit for the weekend. I was thoroughly excited to have pizza on Friday night...they just can't match Old Forge pizza anywhere else in the US. I ordered from my long-time favorite, Revello's. When I walked in at 7:30pm the place was 3/4s empty, and I was in shock. The place had always been jammed on Saturday evenings. Nonetheless, I picked up my two trays to go with excitement. At first glance, the pizza doesn't even look the same - flat and cardboard-like, rather than the thick, full appearance it used to have. There used to be a "cheese explosion" in your mouth when you took your first bite...not anymore. They have cut down dramatically on the quality and content of their ingredients. Folks at Revello's...time to go into your archives, dust off the tried and true recipe and get back to work. Your restaurant is empty because you've gone cheap on your number-1 product's content. I've eaten at Revello's my entire life...but I'm not wasting a great pizza opportunity again when I have Arcaro's and Genell's, Cafe Rinaldi, Arcaro's on top of Taylor Hill and Maroni's in West Side - just to name a few - as options, too. Arrived early so I went inside and had a beer and a couple of slices. The staff is friendly. They have a nice variety beer on tap. First bite of the slice was fair. I kinda liked the distinct tomato flavor of the sauce. Unfortunately, every bite after that went down hill. The cheese is so low quality and gummy it leaves a film of something on the roof of your mouth, and there was no crunch at all. Think worst microwaved, high school lunch, French bread pizza. I came here in December (after Christmas) to take my mom out for some Old Forge pizza, but we never actually got to eat here. We came here a bit past noon on a weekday and the place was deserted. We were sat down immediately, but then our server disappeared. Meanwhile, a small group (maybe 5 people) came in and we also seated immediately. They had called ahead so their food was ready for them and you could tell by the way the staff was talking with them that they were regulars here. However, during all this (we were the only 2 groups in the restaurant), we still hadn't received a menu or been seen again by our server. This proceeded for 15-20 minutes, at which point we gave up and left due to their horrible service. We went across the street to Arcaro & Genell's where we had immediate service despite the place being fairly crowded. I'll never try coming here again and I'll make sure all my family in NEPA know where not to go to eat in Old Forge. read more
