OMG how is this pizza not considered 5 stars for this area?!?! I just finished off 2 mushroom slices and a slice of the Sicilian pizza. The crust is fantastic...NEVER EVER change how you make your dough/crust. Love the side I added of sauce. I am full but want to come back tomorrow for 3-4 more slices!!! The interior is low key and an easy going atmosphere. Nothing stands out, but that's not why you came here. Dave Portnoy needs to swing by. One bite no flop, great under carriage, the sauce isn't overkill and the cheese is perfect. They are tucked in a strip mall next to some obnoxious chicken place. This is the real deal and what pizzeria legends are made of. Do they have other things....probably and it's probably awesome tasting like the pizza. But who cares if it's pizza you are after, this is your only choice to make! If you don't believe me, prove me wrong and drop a few bucks on a slice. I guarantee after your first bite. You're gonna be ordering one or two large pies to take home. If you're from out of town and you want pizza and you don't wanna have to think about it, this is the place that you go to. There's pizza place all over the place and there's no way that they taste as good as this PERIOD. I ate my slices with my eyes closed for 80% of the time to eliminate distractions and absorb the flavors and crunch. I will not spend the next 24hrs before I go home dreaming about how I can get a few slices before getting in my plane tomorrow.....and still make the flight. We just happened to be in the south side of Scranton and were looking for something to eat and decided to give Brick Oven a try. It is a pizzeria with table service but nothing fancy. The young lady handling the register also waited on the tables and she was on top of things. We ordered garlic knots and a large pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and half anchovies. The knots came out first and were piping hot. Really good garlic flavor. The pizza was good; plenty of toppings and the crust and sauce were both better than what I typically find in Scranton. My only complaint would be the sausage. They use ground sausage and not sausage rounds. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

I had the worst experience ever. I was discriminated against because of my service dog. I'm 34 weeks pregnant with diabetes and my service dog alerts me with the diabetes. I came here to eat after having a hard doctors appointment and not feeling all that well (granted the people here didn't know that but you can see it on my face I wasn't ok) my mother and I came in to eat and right away the red haired girl went to the guy behind the counter saying oh she has a dog. She then came to me and said oh is that a service dog. I said yes. Then she came back a minute later saying you can not be here with a dog. I said that discrimination because she services me with my diabetes. Then the guy from the counter came out saying do you have paperwork to prove it and even though I carry in my phone to proof that she is a registered service dog he didn't give me a chance to even wrap my head around what was happening. My mother said that discrimination you can't do that forget it let's go. I'm not eating somewhere where they discriminate against someone with a disability. That's wrong. Before I could even speak the guy got in my face saying oh just show us the peer work and then you can eat. And my mother and I made it very clear we weren't staying anywhere that they discriminate against anyone with a disability. That's wrong. I clearly wasn't ok my words weren't coming out the way I wanted and he was very aggressive. This was also my first time being here. The owner didn't even want to come out and say anything and he was in the back. I can't believe how horrible I was treated. I left with my heart racing horribly and the dizziness I was feeling early got so much worse. This place has to do better. I will never be going here. Ever. Enroute to the Poconos and needed some dinner after a long flight from Utah. Snaked through the town to a little joint which exceeded our expectations. Garlic knots soooo good with crispy exterior pillowy inside. Butternut squash soup was too sweet but the chicken tortellini soup was fabulous. So disappointed me and my co worker ordered brick oven for lunch on 7/29/23 and the lady who took our order first of all was rushing us and had a nasty attitude then we get our food and we're missing 2 sauces a dressing and a side of cheese so we called back they placed me on hold for over 5 minutes for sauces?? So while I was still on hold my co worker called and they answered her and she said you have my co worker on hold still like what's going on b of course the lady was very rude again she said there was no manager there to speak to and said she's trying to call the DRIVER to find out why. Like why call the driver he's not in the kitchen she did nothing to even offer to bring the sauces back or add it for another time her attitude was absolutely disgusting towards us being customers we will be calling back at 4 when the manager is there (so she said they'll be there at that time anyways) definitely will not be ordering there for a while and it's crazy because we always order from them between my house and my job and my moms house. I get people make mistakes and things get forgotten but make it right don't leave someone on hold for 8 minutes taking other orders and then get nasty with the customer because you messed up. The one and only reason we gave this place a try was because Marzoni's near the Comfort Suites was closed supposedly due to Covid. (Didn't know this at the time we booked the hotel.) We looked up another 'Brick Oven' pizza place and saw this one - we went there to eat in and ordered garlic knots and a pizza with pepperoni, on which I asked for it to be crispy and "light on the cheese". After we were there for what seemed like quite awhile, suddenly the server came over and said they were out of pepperoni and it wouldn't be in until later that night, (so how low does the pepperoni supply have to be before ordering more, especial on a weekend?) We settled for meat sauce instead. So, before the pizza came out, the garlic knots we ordered were extremely greasy, so much so that I had to put 4 napkins together under them to soak up the grease/butter/whatever it was - the bottoms were so soggy that it was more like soup with bread. Ate the top halves, threw the bottoms out. Then the pizza came out.....if that was their idea of "light cheese", I'd hate to see what they put on a regular pizza. We took two slices off the pan, the cheese just oozed onto it from the remaining slices. Maybe most people like extra cheese on their pizza, but when one asks for "light", how much trouble is it to not put gobs of cheese on it? We ate a total of 4 slices, (I removed half the cheese from both slices I had), took the other 4 slices with us in a box....and by the time we got back to the hotel, we were disgusted enough to not even want the remaining pizza so in the trash can it went. Tried for the first time. Got a chicken bacon ranch pizza, good flavors and amount of toppings. I've heard some good things about the place so I stopped in for a quick "slice" yesterday late in the afternoon just to try before we come back to dine........But that won't happen. I waited until I didn't want to wait any longer, a person gets tired of hearing excuses: "just a little longer", "it's coming right out", or "just two more minutes". There was only one other customer and I don't know why it's taking so long, I've been waiting approximately 13 minutes just to warm up the pizza so I graciously said to the man & woman behind the counter that I don't want the pizza and you may keep my money. I've been going to Brick Oven for years since I was in high school. They were always nice and courteous. Money has been hard for everyone recently. I finally splurged on ordering out and of course wanted my favorite restaurant. When the food arrived it was cold. I understand that it was an hour and a half wait and they did come a bit early. However for the first time in all these years the food was cold. I threw it away and took out my garbage. The only way they said they could give me new food is if I returned the food that was cold. I was not going to pick through my garbage to get this. They said a refund/credit could not be given. They said they were busy, but wanted to pick up my cold food. One of my favorite go to pizzerias in the area! (And there is a lot of pizza choices out here in Scranton!) everything is always fresh and made to order. My family's personal favorite is the buffalo chicken New York style tray. We also really enjoy the brick oven bites with the zesty ranch sauce. We also really love the Italian roll! It's like a Italian Stromboli stuffed with pepperoni, ham and some other meats wrapped in a seasoned pizza dough. So amazing. This pizzeria is a little more expensive than others but it's totally worth it. You will not be disappointed. If you prefer to dine in they have a very cute homey feeling dining area Decorated with Italian decorations. So if you must drive thru Scranton or simply live here and are looking for a great place for grub, try them out! They also deliver!!! read more

I love this place. It is my pizza go to. They also have the most amazing boneless buffalo chicken. I have been going here for the past 3 years. Pizza is real NY style. What I mean by that is that it's very hard to find a pizza that uses the RIGHT cheese and sauce,and they nail it every time. The chicken bites BOOM! you can get them mild or hot but I get mild and they are perfection. Right amount of sauce and perfect amount of meat. Good for the diet cause they aren't fried.(insert eye roll). The delivery drivers are so friendly, the staff there is just as nice. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because the pricing can be a bit high. I think that starting out but then my head goes right to Pizza. It's worth every penny. Today was my first time here. And it was pretty good. Had the 16" round. Half plain half mushroom and onion. The sauce was good but needed a little more. The cheese was good and stretchy. And also had the garlic knots. Very good and crispy. I will definitely take a trip back and try other things off the menu. 4/1/16. OK I'm a little disappointed. I went down and was dying for a pizza and cheese steak. BUT the cheese steak was minute steaks. Ugh. $7.25 for minute steaks. Doesn't anyone serve real steak anymore? The pizza was great. We ordered from here twice and will not be ordering a third time! First time we ordered pasta dinners. The pasta was over cooked and the sauce tasted like cheap jar sauce. The second time we ordered hoagies. The lettuce on the Italian hoagie was brown and the bun was soggy. The Chicken Parm hoagie tasted like the chicken was cooked in old oil and it was saturated, the sauce on it was no better then the pasta sauce we had the first time around.
