I love Applebee's. I honestly think that the food is mostly good, and I enjoy going there. This particular location, however, has some issues. It's mostly the service. My husband and I go there about once every few months, and are always sad about how much we get ignored. Sometimes a creepy manager will come by and ask if everything is okay, but he is usually so busy that I don't think he would even register if we said anything back to him. I have had my drinks "comp"ed a few times because of all the complaints I have given. I'd say, skip this place and if you are really desperate for Applebee's, just go to Oroville (*cringe*). read more

Nasty. The once mighty "neighborhood grill" has fallen. These places used to be decent for grabbing a bite to eat with some friends. Packed all day long. Now, just a ghost of the past. Poor service, terrible food unless your conscious will allow you to eat all you can eat frozen chicken fingers. Celebrity chef Tyler Florance kills all he touches. The last time I was in the place smelled like it had been cleaned with urinal cakes. read more

Yuck!! I ordered a classic cheeseburger. I said well done. It was pink and the veggies inside were not fresh. The French fries were soggy. Big mistake ordering online. Never again. read more

I have patronized this establishment around 5-6 times by now. Before three days ago I would give 3 stars. Husband and I came in on a Thursday evening. The hostess met us right away and was very nice. We sat in the bar area at a table. The waitress came by about 3-4 minutes later and took our drink order. Beers came quick and we drank them. Next time the waitress came by she took our order and we asked for 2 more beers. We effectively received the 2 beers. After that it's a mystery... we enjoyed our 2nd beers and thought our food would be coming soon... finished the beers and figured the food would be coming soon... no food. 45 minutes after our food order we had still not received any food and the husband had enough! We got up, went to the bartender, and paid for our beers. $25 for 4 beers, no food. The bartender profusely apologized but we just had to leave. Moral of the story: don't come to Chico Applebees. The food is mediocre but the service sucks. read more

This Applebee's suck! And honestly, they need to hire more people because our waiter kept telling us that she was a "one man person" meaning she was running all these table by herself. Please hire more people if you can't perform good customer service! The food was pretty average. My friend's steak was ordered as medium rare and when it came, it was WELL DONE. And we had to complain and get it exchanged. Minus points! And I did NOT like how the food came. It was the 8 of us and the food came out between many different times. Like half our table got our food right away and then 30 minutes later the other half came, it was not good because by the time their food came out, we were already done with ours! BAD SERVICE! And they suck for not having the 2 for $20 deals on weekends. It doesn't even say that on the menu so wth!! This place was shitty and their service was bad! But regardless of that I should tell you guys that the artichoke dip from the sampler platter was pretty damn good, I was get that and it never disappoints me! But it was such a small serving that there were half the chips left over after the dip was gone, sad. The jalapeno burger was not that good. Didn't come with lettuce tomatoes or pickles. However the philly burger looked good too. The other food was not that great so not worth naming all of it, just know the good stuff ! read more

The food here really isn't that good but they're happy hour is a pretty good deal. It starts at 3 pm ends at 6 or 7 pm at least m to f I always get the little chicken bites with buffalo sauce so freakin delicious! My friends like their spinach dip and chicken tenders. Everything on the appetizer menu is half off yay! Tons of parking. Located near all the Chico chain restaurants near the mall. I would only go here for happy hour, otherwise only an okay in my book and I would skip it read more

No more chances Applebee's, This place does suck!! The waiter proceeded to give us about 5 minutes after sitting down to see if we were ready to order, which is no time at all! Then when I asked if we could order an appetizer he said, "sure, we love when people order food around here", the hell? The food wasn't good at all so we just ate a little bit of it and brought it home. Later on my boyfriend and I went out and got pretty intoxicated and had the drunken munchies and decided to eat the leftovers, having nothing else to snack on. Now I fully understand why they had offered us so much liquor the last time we went here and I reviewed them...because the food tasted sooo good, I couldn't believe it, but then I realized how drunk I was. Please don't give this establishment anymore business, not worth the money or time. read more

Too bad you can't give some type of negative rating. I wasn't sure if I was just the only one experiencing bad customer service from here, but the entire first page of reviews are full of negative reviews. It's usually a friend's choice to dine at Applebee's. I hate going there because: 1) The servers are TERRIBLE. They do not check on your table and they are not very friendly. Most of them walk around with scowls on their faces and when you put in a special request for your food or tell them something is wrong with your food they get snappy. Sorry for making you do your job girls! Don't like it? Get out of food service. 2) There is ALWAYS something wrong with my food, not to mention it's a long wait just to get it. I waited 30 minutes just for an appetizer and soup. Lo and behold, my entree was out about 5 minutes later so my table was over crowded with food. My appetizer came out cold and I had to send it back. About 15 minutes later the waitress stops by and asks me if I have gotten my appetizer yet which is clearly not on the table. It comes back out COLD AGAIN. I complained to the manager who handled the situation professionally and discounted my meal and offered a free dessert. I declined the dessert because I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes just for that to come out. Next time a friend wants to go to Applebee's I'm going to have to respectfully decline. I'm so over the terrible service and the crappy food. read more

Stayed in Chico, CA overnight, looking for a restaurant that might be able to cook something soy free for me, as I have a severe soy allergy. WoW... did we (husband and I) hit a home run with 'Patti' and her chef at the Chico Applebees. They did everything they could to prepare a dinner for me that was totally Soy Free. They went out of their way to make sure that my husband and i had delicious meals. Taking time out from all the regular orders they have to do for just 2 people who weren't even locals. (((( That's dedication and compassion for their customers, and PRIDE in what they do. )))) read more

This is literally the closest thing you get to fast food with the ability to be served. My last experience was pretty good, the waitress was super perky and sweet. The food just sucks. The servers are generally pretty fun people, which sucks because there's just no amount of good service that can make up for the just-out-of-the-freezer fatness that they pretend is edible "food". If you must order something other than beer, try the french onion soup. I'm sure every part of it is somehow frozen ten seconds before you eat it, but it's tasty and one of the only non-fried things on the menu. For the record, the only acceptable times to go to Applebee's: when your 16 year old cousin first gets a job there, you're rude Uncle Bob gets you a gift card there (total dick move - consider selling GC online and cut your losses), your friends are so drunk they're too loud to be allowed on the street for more than five seconds, everywhere else in town is closed (not possible - Applebee's closes at.. what, 11?), or this is the last safe venue because even the zombies didn't want to dine there. Honestly. TLDR: Go somewhere else. read more

I got food poisoning from eating Applebee's salmon! Passed out from the pain and my bowel movements were bloody. My husband didn't know what was happening as I was not responsive for a minute or more. Had to call 911. The next two days were the same followed by vomiting. It has 3 days and I am still recovering. When we called to let Applebee's know they didn't even offer to reimburse us, all we got was an empty sorry. I will never ever eat there again. The food was gross anyway. Two thumbs down. read more

Only one star because I can't give zero Gross gross gross The filthiest restaurant I have walked into in a long time. We were the 1st costumers in at 11am and the 1st thing you see is hand prints all over the glass as you enter look down and the door mat is dirty as we walk to our booth the carpet hasn't been vacuumed and has crap all over toothpicks paper etc look out the window it's dirty too. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup 10 min later it's cold open the silverware dirty we walked out. read more

Warning against going here if you have an allergy! Really bad experience, son is allergic to peanuts, asked the server when we first walked in, seemed it was fine. After a 35 minute wait for food, his food was still not done, so I asked the server if the French fries were okay. The server then states she has a list of foods that may contain peanuts or may have come in contact with peanuts . Well basically the entire menu including the dish he had ordered was even on the list. Dangerous experience, would figure in this day an age of caloric content and ingredients being listed, it would have a trickle down effect too the manager and servers. Son wants he mentioned every dish on the kids menu is on the list. read more

Kuwait City circa 2007 was the last time I set foot in an Applebee's. Living overseas it was a comfort food that reminded us of home for those two years. Fast forward to 2021 and IHOP was gone so we went here for an early lunch. The waiter Michael was awesome, he was very responsive and friendly. The food was really good and my daughter loved the dessert and all the Chico pics. The only downside was the price I mean $14 for a burger but if you stick to the specials it's not too bad. Overall a good experience and I even told the manager how impressed I was with food and service. I definitely won't wait 14 years to patronize Chico Applebees again. read more

Came here a few times and the two out of three times my partner and I came was not a great experience. We had this girl server who is usually working night shift...blonde hair, don't even care to know her name. Anyways...she gives out horrible service. No smiles, no eye contact, seems as if she hates her job. Granted I would hate working late night shifts, but if you want to be in this job industry, you better give me a damn good experience. Third time we come in...(by the way we come in for happy hour only because the food is not worth our pay)...a guy named Alex helped us this time. Super sweet with a great attitude. It actually made me like my food even more. Overall...happy hour is always a go to for when we crave late night snackings read more

Complete garbage. From food (?) To service. Microwave food, probably prison rejected table scraps. I asked for some sarachi, bar man told the tween where to find it. She brings "spicy lime mayo" (:! . Gross don't touch. Then bar man apologies(fine whatever). Asks if I want the sarachi I asked for..."but the tween said you where out?" ...oh I get it she's a liar.(?) Bill comes, just hand the guy my card...bills me 33$ for a shrimp salad and 1 beer. "Whoa, bill my card back buddy, you brought the wrong tab.....thanks".(gross "food") , not the end of the world. Then the bar man has to go to the manager. Miss Red Bluff 1964 stink eyes me, "why the charge back!!?" Because you not only sell me garbage you charge double for it and your ding dong lackies take the brunt. I was nice and tipped. Can't wait to leave. Do yourself a favor go and eat at the soup kitchen or the IHOP. Cheaper and the staff won't lie to you, over charge you or act like they are doing you a Soilid by refunding the money you didn't spend. read more

I am a former employee of Applebee's and have worked in restaurants for years, so I hate writing bad reviews but I encountered one of the worst customer service experiences. I ordered online through DoorDash . I received the wrong burger so I called. A girl answered the phone and I told her I got the wrong burger that I would not eat. Then she says oh yeah I see that. Then she says " well what do you want me to do about it". I would have expected do you want a refund for that, want it delivered, can I offer you a free dessert when you come in next but no she didn't even apologizes. I would have been happy with I'm so sorry . But no nothing just what do you want me to do about it, making me feel stupid for even calling. I know there is a shortage of staff but having those who don't care is really disappointing. read more

We went tonight to Applebee's since it was conveniently located across from our hotel. There was no one to greet us at the door when we came in. Although there were several empty tables we didn't want to wait in the cold in line so we went to the bar and seated ourselves. After ten minutes and we were never acknowledged (although the waitress in the bar did see us) we left. When we were leaving the waitress in the back section heard our comments but didn't say anything to us either. Had she said something we would have waited. We went over to Red Lobster and got seated right away with their friendly staff. read more

8/20/17 around 12:00-1:00pm and I orders half rack ribs and they were all dry and nasty, they only put BBQ sauce on the top of the ribs and not on the bottom, my biggest issue was that they were dry and tasted like they were Days old that sat in the fridge. The waitress was amazing her name was Kat she told the cook that I said he sucks at cooking and I guess he's not going to send out anymore dry ribs. She asked me if I wanted another plate but I declined just the fact that they were all going to be dry! That's Kat for helping out. read more

Well if you want a server who leaves you.. never comes back to check on you. The food was alright, but it was warm by the time it got to us. There was just enough on the plate to fill up a sami-hungry individual. This used to be one of our favorites in Chico.. now, we sat down and waited for 20 minutes... at a sticky table. So gross...

We went to dinner here tonight. Waitress took our drink order when we first sat down and it took so long we thought it was forgotten. We ordered our food, she promised extra dressing for my salad. Food took a long time to come, probably 25 minutes while others who arrived after us were getting their food. The extra dressing didn't come. She did come back to check and I requested the dressing and she brought it. The food was just...okay. The waitress came by and asked if we wanted take out containers; we said yes. Next thing I know she is chatting with the other waitresses at the register. A guy came by our table (don't know what his role was) and asked if he could get us take out containers, but she brought them (one too many). Never asked us about dessert (we didn't want any, but she should have asked) and brought us our bill. Never asked if we wanted water the whole time. I know the waitress was training another waitress and that can be trying, but I never felt like she really cared about our dining experience at all in our interactions. I can't believe we paid almost $50 for a plate of pasta and a salad (plus two lemonade drinks)! read more

Party of six. Salad brought out with the entrees. Steaks were grossly overdone. Red potatoes evidently came right out of the refrigerator. Mashed potatoes right out of the microwave. This is an update to my last review 5 years ago. Decided to give it another try as I hoped the service would be better. Service was a little better than last time but they still forgot napkins and silverware twice. Food was just ok. What disgusted me the most was how filthy and booths and blinds are. The sun was shining in our eyes so I shut the blinds. I saw ketchup, mustard, boogers, and a dead bug on the window sill. Then I looked closer at the booth seats and there was greasy finger marks all over along with some more ketchup smeared on the back portion of the booth. A little cleaning would go a long way. I guess I'll try it again in another 5 years, but until then there are other places in town that offer a way better dining experience. read more

Less than McDonald's quality staff. It took longer than 20 minutes for our order to be taken, at which time I ordered a drink. 25 minutes later, when my food came I still hadn't gotten a drink. I figured it wouldn't be worth it because, I wouldn't get a refill at this point so, I told the waitress I hadn't received a drink and that I didn't want it anymore. The waitress told me it hadn't been added to my ticket and that she forgot. I digress. The food was alright, except for the fact that there was the base of a head of lettuce comprising an 8th of my salad. My lady's salad had the same addition. When we went to pay the bill on the ultra bright table tablet, distraction device, we couldn't help but notice the waitress is a LIAR AND A FATMOUTH! The drink was added to the bill! Not the end of the world but, still... We pressed the button on the ultra bright table tablet, distraction device, which is supposed to do part of the staff's job by being attentive. After a few more minutes of waiting, I see the end of this miserable experience, approaching to fix this bill issue. But alas, I was mistaken. At the last moment the waitress turned to ask another table about their experience and then, walked away, leaving me to sit and wait another 5 minutes until she came back out. After that was all said and done, I again, went to pay the bill. I laughed audibly as the ultra bright table tablet, distraction device suggested I leave a 20% tip, as if one was merited at all! I was sad to reach into my pocket and find it had no pennies. I wanted to leave her my "two cents". read more
