I've had more pleasant customer service but appreciated the fact that I was in the store for less than 30 minutes. He helped me to trade-in my iPhone 15 plus for store credit since there aren't any MacBook Neo's available at this time. They didn't fix my Mac Pro correctly and now you can't even drop off something to get a battery changed. Very lame Apple!!!!! Need to write Tim Cook again. Again, very lame. This review is for the Iphone classes at the Apple Store. I attended an iPhone Camera & Photos class at the Apple Store Ala Moana and loved it! The instructor was a professional photographer and shared some really cool tips on lighting, composition, and editing. I especially liked learning how to edit portraits differently from landscapes and objects. They also offer beginner iPhone classes and sessions on the new AI features, which you can find on Apple's website. The class is held in the back of the store with seating for about 20, and the giant screen across the wall makes it super easy to follow along. Great experience overall! read more

Today I brought my mom into the Ala Moana Apple Store to upgrade her very outdated iPad Pro (3rd gen). She was more than ready for something new and shiny, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Phyo Phyo was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, patient, and genuinely warm--and this was close to closing time, which made her kindness and attentiveness even more impressive. She never rushed us and made us feel truly valued and appreciated. She walked us through the different iPad options, helped us understand the features, and secured a trade-in value for my mom's old device. We did run into a small hiccup during the trade-in process, but this is where the Apple team really shined. Phyo Phyo immediately pulled in additional support, including several technicians and Tyler, a senior manager. They worked together seamlessly, troubleshooting the issue efficiently and professionally until everything was resolved. What really stood out was how often other staff members checked in on us as well--asking if we needed water, had questions, or needed anything at all. That level of attentiveness made the experience feel thoughtful and well-coordinated rather than transactional. We left feeling taken care of, confident in the purchase of a new iPad Air 13 inch and genuinely impressed by the teamwork and customer service. I would absolutely recommend Phyo Phyo and Tyler if you're visiting this location--and honestly, the entire staff deserves recognition. This is exactly how customer service should be done. My charger cable cracked and it would probably be a matter of time when it would break, so I needed a new one. Luckily the store is easy to get to. Granted, I parked over by Longs, so I got back in my car and drove over to Macy's which its near. It's been a while since I've been in an Apple store. Nice layout. The workers are all in blue shirts so that made it easy. Found what I needed...but where's the checkout counter? This location has a huge stock of merchandise at the Apple Store location. Whenever I go this store they have everything I need. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about their products. They're friendly from the start when entering the store and gracious when you leave. When you need any service or help with their products, they're willing to help you out. If one employee doesn't know, they'll get an employee that does to help you out. They also install green protectors to your iPhone as well. They do a good job installing the screen protectors. They did a good job on my iPhone. read more

This location has terrible wait times even with an appointment. We came in here to get a broken back glass for an iPhone with a scheduled appointment we had made days prior. To our surprise, they do not reserve the replacement until you check in. That extended the wait time by 3 hours. Once we came back, we waited an additional 45 min to simply pick up the phone. Very disappointing service at my favorite Oahu Apple store. I can't tell if it's the tech support here or the folks who handle the Apple Watches when they are sent away for repair or a combination of both. My Apple Watch Series 10 battery doesn't charge and when it does, it drains very quickly. I went to the store 1 time for tech support then went home - the battery still drained and wouldn't charge. I went to the Apple Store 2 more times where it was sent in for servicing and I went back to pick it up twice. Then I went to the Apple Store a 3rd time for troubleshooting again and went back a 4th time as a follow up to the 3rd time to get what looked like a refurbished Apple Watch Series 10c because it was in a cardboard box opened by the Apple staff then went home only to find the battery drains quickly and doesn't charge with turning it on and off multiple times. I called Apple Tech Support and was told the battery issue on the Series 10 is a known one. They saw that a dianostic had never been run on the watch with the many times it was reviewed and repaired. Turns out a remote diagnostic couldn't even be run. I insisted that a brand new watch be sent to me and my wish is hopefully finally granted. I have another Series 10 watch that operates perfectly. This is my 3rd Apple Watch due to upgrades of the series, so I am well acquainted with the device and troubleshooting. I will wait for the new Apple Watch to be mailed to me and then update this review. read more

9/3/2024 I made an appointment with their Genius Bar very early in the morning cuz my phone had gone dead and even when I tried to charge nothing could open it for 13+ hours. My iPhone 15 is like an extension of my left palm. I love to take photos, videos big time plus naturally check email, text and Yelp. Couldn't even check in to my daily health check to record biomarkers or buy tickets on our unlimited movies app and my routine daily iPhone uses. I checked and the Ala Moana store had the first open slot for 2:50 pm so I booked that. I honestly must not have entered that store in over a year. The set up seemed different. One employee with a blue shirt must have seen I looked lost. He asked and I said Where's the Genius Bar? He gestured everywhere with his outstretched hand. I was waiting to be checked in with the guy on the iPad who had been stooped over a table helping a couple. Luckily Jay had seen me and came to my rescue. He checked my QR code then told me where to wait as I was about ten minutes early. Jay was very calming, said I came in at the right time cuz my phone was purchased in 9/23. My warranty was almost up. Erick(sp?) I didn't see him wearing a name badge approached and asked Gail? Yes. At first he kept looking around like I was invisible. He ran a couple of diagnostics. He would leave the table a few times without a word. Never met an Apple person like him before even at this, the KAHALA or Waikiki stores. A part needed to be ordered and should take 5 days to arrive then I would be contacted to return with my phone. My phone had been running hot recently and only charged between 31-41%. I signed a few waivers on his iPad. I charge my phone with a cable. He suggested doing it wirelessly so I bought a block and a wireless charger with Kandy before I left the store. She was super polite and easy to talk to. Thank goodness Jay and Kandy were so helpful and kind AND knowledgeable. read more

One annoying thing about having to come in is there's no way to contact them prior to having your issues looked at. I needed to replace a battery in my phone, made a "Genius Bar" appointment online for noon on a weekend and still had to wait around about 20 minutes after I got the attention of one of the many people milling around that work there. No battery in stock, they had to order it. Lucky thing I asked the "genius" who wanted me to leave my phone for over an hour. I asked him if they had my battery in stock and he said 'no' - it will have to be back-ordered. I would have thought they knew these kinds of things in advance before asking me to go shopping for an hour. I don't live anywhere near Ala Moana so it was inconvenient to wait around a week and have to return but I went back today. It's best to go first thing in the morning so you'll have the attention of a "genius", and even with that, good luck! You have to be a bit outspoken and assertive to get the attention of someone to even acknowledge and help you. They made me sign a form electronically and told me my phone will be ready after an hour. I went back and it was ready when they said it was, but again I had to get the (in)attention of someone working there. They make you sit and wait on these small wooden cubes, which I thought was super weird. It's funky and chic but kind of stupid at the same time. I guess Apple has to look so sleek and minimalist they even have cubes for people to sit on. Cost was $89 without tax, after taxes a little over $93. read more

I arrived at 1030 am, I wanted to buy an iPhone 14 128 gig red. I called earlier that morning to confirm the phone was in stock and ready for pick up. Total cost $599 plus tax. I was told to go into a "make a reservation" line. Made an appointment to buy a phone at 11am. So I had to wait around until 11 am... couldn't go inside, had to roam around the mall. I arrive back 1055 to Apple and had to check in. I was put into another line to wait to shop for a phone that is waiting for me. I didn't get into the store until 1122. Told to wait by the new IPhone, the rep tried to upsale me... I told I came in for a specific iPhone and want to pay out right. I was charged an extra $30 because I didn't active the phone. Since I have been waiting an hour for this phone... what choice did I have but to take the extra fee. The transaction only took two mins, but had to wait an hour to buy the phone. Made an appointment here for the genius bar a couple weeks ago for some issues I needed to address with a couple of iphones. 1) I needed to change the battery on one because it couldn't hold a charge as long. 2) For whatever reason, the pin code on the iphone reset to something else and after a couple of months we couldn't even access it. Didn't have an option to try an input a pin or even reset it. I was flying in from Maui and made the genius bar appt for the battery replacement (couldn't figure out how to add the 2nd issue for the other phone) for as late as I could so that I could make it on time from the airport. I actually got there a little early and checked in. My appointment time came and went... waited 30-45 minutes before they finally got to me; even in the sea of all the workers that night. Because 'it was so late', they could no longer do the battery replacement that day. They wanted me to come back later that week to pick up the phone, but I live on a different island and was flying out the following day. Thankfully he made it work and I was able to pick up my phone the next day. The second issue was easy and they were able to do a hard reset. It just took forever.... to the point where he started helping another customer in the middle of resetting the phone as well. Haha. Still, I was appreciative that the two issues were taken care of fairly easily. It was the long wait time and having to come back the next day that didn't sit as well with me. It was also incredibly hot in the store. I don't know if it was because it was filled with people or what, but it was just HOT and uncomfortable. All in all, it wasn't great, but wasn't bad. Been here during an iPhone release date expecting a bunch of people, but they had it pretty well organized where they had people picking up line up outside the store and the line moving pretty fast. If you're not there for product pick up then you can just walk in and browse all the Apple products your heart desires. ZHE assisted with setting up the iPhone to the point where I needed to visit T-Mobile to complete the carrier switch. After completing that step, I returned to the store, where Tonatiuh and Chris finished the setup process efficiently and with great care. Every team member I interacted with was attentive, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The entire process was smooth, well-coordinated, and stress-free. Most importantly, the staff ensured everything was handled correctly so that these gifts were ready for my wife exactly as intended. This experience was truly night and day compared to my visit to the Kahala Apple Store the previous day. I've been to this Apple Store several times before, and each time I've been impressed at the calmness, quality of attention to detail, and friendliness that I've experienced each and every time. Today, I walked in for a trade-in of several devices, to which I was helped promptly (within 10 seconds) and redirected to a specialist in the trade-in department (if that exists). I traded in my items with Kelson, who made the process of retrieving credit for my items and subsequently purchasing a new device with the credit seamless and easy. My Mac Air locked me out! I followed all the instructions. Not once, but at least 5 times (I lost count after the fifth time). Zane was my genius. It wasn't easy but through a series of maneuvers and with the assistance of another older and wiser genius, my Mac was unlocked! I cannot express my gratefulness that still inhabits my being each time I think of this experience. Getting a day and time was pretty easy. This is the most chaotic Apple Store I've ever gone to. There are groups of five employees standing around talking and some helping customers, without anybody acknowledging you for awhile. I caught the eye of maybe a manager? I asked about the iPad Pro covers and was pointed over to the area but not given any help. They didn't have the cover I wanted on display so I patiently waited for someone to stop talking and come over but it took so long. I knew there was some in stock as I had looked online prior to coming but getting someone to help was the issue. I finally flagged down someone who was probably the same manager because then they were like "I'll have someone check the back for you" ...instead of just doing it themselves. This process took forever, so long that 3 other employees came by to ensure we were being helped. That was nice of them but where were they 10 minutes ago when nobody acknowledged us? The manager finished talking with another customer and came back to assure us someone was looking in the back but then he wanted to move us. He walked us over to the center and it looked like he wanted us to sit there and wait, but then he stopped himself and said we couldn't sit there as he was going to demonstrate the Apple Vision Pro in a few minutes there so then he moved us again to stand by some counters. It was so awkward! Why did we have to move in the first place?? We were off to the side not in anyone's way. The associate with the iPad cover finally came and they asked if I wanted a bag which I said yes. They had a different associate find a bag but it was too small so then they had to go back to find another. This took quite a bit of time and I have no idea why three different people had to help me with each thing. Pretty sure the bag I got was used but whatever. It was just overall inefficient having so many people help with this single sale of an iPad cover. What should have been an easy purchase that should take at maximum 5-10 minutes took over a half hour. It was insane. While everyone was very nice after we got helped & were friendly, I would implore the store to work on their efficiency. It was quite frankly painful to go in there. I signed up for a 7 day free trial with Apple TV, but they did not have the specific show I signed up for. I tried for hours to cancel, and I couldn't do it. I looked on the reviews for the app and saw that everyone was having the same problem. My last resort, before canceling that credit card, was to go to the Apple store in Ala Moana. I was welcomed by team member Grace. I felt sorry for her, because it wasn't going to be easy, and I was already annoyed at the situation. She tried several options, always being polite and patient, and she was able to cancel my account! So that song, Amazing Grace, is about her. She is a role model of customer service, and I wish everyone could be so efficient, knowledgeable, and patient. She totally changed my mood, and I just want to express my gratitude. read more

Went in at 5:45 pm to pick up my new phone (appt time was 5-5:15 pm) . They said it's not ready and there's nothing showing in the system. Manager Alyson looked at my confirmation email and told me "maybe it was a problem with your payment." NO Alyson, it's not a problem with my credit card it's a problem with your system. Rude and unhelpful staff. She directed me to call the apple help desk and they too were unable to help "push" the order thru (but they did confirm there is nothing wrong with my payment!). Left the store and 20 minutes after I left I received a text that my order is ready. Ridiculous!! Apple should take notes from Target - they can get 20 Items ready in 2 hours. They Apple, even with all their high tech, can't even get it together to get 1 item ready by the promised time. Big no no - Over-promise and under-deliver. read more

Either you love them or you hate them, any Apple store will be a hit or a miss. Fortunately, for me, I've mainly had hits hea. Located in the Ala Moana Center on the 2nd floor, closer to considered Macy's end to the mall. All Apple store fronts had that iconic floor to ceiling windows and doors with larger apple icon, so you can't miss this place. Large open space with large, flat open tables in the back for tutorials, Genius Bar, and new purchases/ pick-ups. On the side walls, merchandise to excite the senses and in the front of the room, the 3 main items Apple sells the most of iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. In the mix of the floor layout, is their MacBooks. If you're in need, shopping or need trouble shooting, I HIGHLY recommend you using the Apple Store app to get a head start. This will cut your wait time and get you start A.S.A.P. as you arrive at the store. Another note, if you buy international Apple items, you can only get Apple Care in that country. Which means, unless you're in that country, you'll be paying out of pocket for your services. Every store I've been in has the same customer service, the greet you at the door and say thank you on the way out. Many are at tentative when you play with their items, but if you tell them nicely that you're just looking you can play till you're content or wanna buy. When I need advice or assistance, someone is usually close by to interact with and a decent wait time. Honestly, I think they have too many helpful people, but it's not my call. My greatest experience hea is really the closing of their sales. They ask you if you know what to do to use your new item(s), and/or they take you to a specialist that can help you get started in the store, granting you have the time. One day, I wondered in and closed the store down, because I switched from a certain carrier to another and also got a new iPhone. The thing that took soo long was the uploading to my cloud and then downloading to my new phone. They were gracious enough to wait, let me use "their" restroom, and I also had come right after I finished a workout at the gym. Was I smelly, probably =(All other closing were pretty much the same, they treat you like they really want to take your money, and I'm okay with that. Some places you gotta beg to buy something. My only gripe with Apple is that they are pricey! You get what you pay for, but not everyone can afford what Apple has to offer, and leaves huge holes in my wallet... that I'm willing to sacrifice for their products and service. Worst service ever!!! Today I went to the Apple Store to fix my AirPods. I make an appointment for 2:10pm but I ended up having to go at 12pm. When I entered the store someone came and asked if I needed help, I said I had made an appointment for 2:10 but I asked if I could get seen sooner. The man told me yes and someone will get me in 10-15 minutes. I went to the waiting area and I waited 1 hour. I am not upset that they couldn't take me, I saw that they were busy. What I am mad about is that they didn't even look my way for a whole hour. If they knew they could not help me they should have said, not make me wait an hour when I other things to do. I ended up leaving so i wasted an hour of my day which could have been avoided if they had just told me they could not help me. read more

I had the worst tech store experience, ever. It's kind of far how Apple has fallen. I've been an Apple customer for over thirty years. They used to sell computer gear "for the rest of us" that "just works". No more. On September 3rd, I bought a simple cable at this store. Just a USB cable to power my iPhone. I was amazed at the disrespect I endured trying just to return a broken cable. The staff were rude, condescending and totally incompetent. In the old days, Apple would have apologized and replaced the cable immediately. Today it took the better part of an hour and enduring an amazing level of incompetence. At one point they even told me I needed to talk to a technician. It's a freaking cable. The rudeness of the staff convinced me, I'll never buy another Apple product as long as I live. You walk in, everyone is busy with someone else and you just wait till someone acknowledges you to buy something? This happens in almost all locations I visit but recently at this store as well. I held the airpods for a moment and the security guard came up telling me where to go.
