TLDR: Richard was very flexible with drop off and pick up times. He gave a thorough diagnosis and was able to identify the issue. He gave a realistic assessment of cost to fix versus value of the item and gave an honest recommendation. 5 stars. Rain or shine Richard is always in. During the crazy 2 weeks of rain, my son's computer stopped working. Richard was still working helping businesses with their network failures through the storm. Always good to call ahead and he can work out time to meet if necessary. Reasonable pricing for both labor and parts. Easy to understand explanation. My son's laptop is an ASUS Vivobook 14, model number X1404V. He claims it isn't charging despite it being plugged into the laptop charger. He's tried at different outlets. We tried getting a replacement charging cord and that didn't work, so it's for sure something with the computer itself. We spoke to Yoda at Gadget Guyz about the issue and he let us know it will require bench work and gave a referral to Easy Computer. Dropped off on Tuesday for diagnosis. Results of diagnosis on Thursday. Richard confirmed that there was at least one bad component in the motherboard, so it would require a full motherboard replacement. A motherboard replacement would require dismantling the entire computer and replacing it and putting it completely back together. For a motherboard replacement they are not done in-house, they are sent out to New York. Parts alone would be nearly the cost of the computer brand new. Labor and to send out would double it. Picked up Friday. Richard gave a good recommendation on next steps. Consider if it was still covered under warranty, where I purchased it, what would be covered. He was very sweet to work with. read more

Computer wouldn't turn on so we brought it in to Easy Computer same day. Owner was able to diagnose and fix the problem in about an hour, taking out the BIOS battery and doing a hard resart. Cost was $99 labor and luckily we didn't need any parts. Would totally go back to this guy again! Thanks! read more

Richard of Easy Computer, as I advised him, will be my computer man from now on. I like nice, honest people and that's him - as I learned real fast when meeting him for the first time. In using my computer, I'd gone to a site, received a virus warning, got out real fast, but then in the lower right of the monitor, crazy and scary warnings constantly were then cropping up, "...You may lose your hard drive....You have 11 viruses...." Rapacious unlike anything you'd ever seen. Scary too. Richard could have made some money off me but instead gave me advice, "Your free AVG Antivirus is good; some people will supplement it with another, but not necessary." I went home clicked on some (get rid of it) icon at the AVG notice, problem solved. Easy Computer is conveniently located on Kalakaua Avenue a couple of blocks outside of Waikiki, very close to where you turn in to the popular Don Quijote Supermarket. read more

Richard is the owner of easy computer. He is very helpful, experienced, and the type of person that you want working on your computer! His shop is located just outside of Waikiki on kalakaua Avenue. There's parking right out front, with super easy access. I came across Richard on Yelp after I had some trouble building a new pc system. I had this about 90% built, and was having trouble with some of the connections on the motherboard and the fans. Called Richard in the morning, and he was helping me a couple of hours later. Terrific service! Richard is exactly the type of person that I like doing business with, a single person company who takes his time and makes sure that the customer is happy. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to build a new PC rig, or needing to troubleshoot issues with your computer. I know I will be using him in the future when I have to build a new pc, as he definitely has the experience, and the prices are extremely reasonable! TLDR; if you have computer issues, or are building a new pc, call Richard! You won't be sorry! read more

The speakers on my laptop was getting very muffled. After troubleshooting with Microsoft, Windows and HP, they all came to the conclusion that I needed new speakers. After reading the great reviews of Richard, I decided to call him. he spent a good 20 minutes on the phone asking me questions and searching to see how much new speakers would cost. He suggested buying a BlueTooth speaker (that it would be much cheaper). But he said before I did that, to bring in the laptop so he could check and see if it could be some simple software problem. I brought it in the next morning, he checked it and agreed, the best solution was to buy BlueTooth speakers (which I ended up doing). And all this for NO CHARGE! Just like all the other reviews said, Richard is an awesome guy. So nice and willing to help the customer - he's not out to make a buck. read more

I didn't catch gentleman's name that I spoke with on the telephon, but he was very helpful with my problem. Super disappointed. My tiny battery purchase meant the everything to me. He ordered the wrong one and refused to do an exchange. He opened my battery box and mucked it up and told contentiously he doesn't want to return this for ME. Basically kicked me out of his store. This was way beyond a bad experience. He ripped me off. He wants to appear to be the bigger person and make me look crazy. What's wrong with this guy?! I just needed a battery not misogyny. Lost a customer for life. Have the day you deserve. read more

Updated review for Easy Computer. I came here a few months ago because my laptop with Windows 10 wouldn't boot and constantly stayed on a black screen. It was still under warranty but the company I bought it from weren't able to help me fix it over the phone. (In my personal opinion, they did more harm than good.) Even though it has been a few years since I've seen Richard, he still remembered me clearly. I told him my situation and we also had some great chats outside of my computer problem. He kept me updated on the repair process and was able to restore all my data as well at a very reasonable price. Easy Computer has got to be the best local business I dealt with. Much thanks once again! read more

If I could give 10 stars I would! They keys on my computer suddenly stopped working so being a college student, I needed it fixed fast. I spent hours trying to get in touch with computer repair shops just to find out that they charge $150-$250 just for a diagnosis AND could take up to 2-4 weeks to fix/repair just a simple problem. I came across easy computer on yelp and decided to give it a try. Richard was super easy to get a hold of and VERY helpful. I got in that same day, and now my computer is like brand new! I picked up a computer virus on my laptop recently and needed help restoring my computer to working order. My laptop would start, but the virus made my home screen blink every couple seconds making it impossible to search or open any folders. I brought my laptop to Easy Computer as soon as I noticed the problem. There is a set price to drop off my computer and the price seemed fair, so I agreed to leave it with Richard, the store owner. Within minutes he diagnosed, recommended action, and estimated time for the repair and had me out the door. Once he found the issue he immediately called me to let me know what needed to be done and that he would call me once it was ready. When I arrived to pick up my laptop, it was ready and running better than ever. This gentlemen is efficient, courteous, and I really liked how he stayed in contact with me during the process. Unfortunately while vacationing in Hawaii my laptop crashed. After many tries to get it working I just ran outta ideas...Went to Geek Squad and the The Windows Store and all they tried to do was sell me an expensive service plan and get me to make an appointment to see their techs. This wasn't good enough. A friend of mine put me onto Richard at Easy Computer. Best thing ever. Richard took my call spoke to me on a couple of things he thought may be the cause and then offered to look at it immediatey, if I could get it to him. Which I did. Richard fixed the issue quicky and at a fair price. Many thanks and if you are unlucky enough to have issues with your PC, certainly make sure you see Richard at Easy Computer. I highly recommend Richard Steele of Easy Computer on Kalakaua Avenue close to Don Quijote for three reasons: 1) Integrity 2) Compassion 3) Deep technical knowledge. I took two computers iinto his shop, a PC and a desktop, for servicing, and even after I paid a very reasonable and affordable price, when he found out weeks later that one of my programs wasn't working properly, he offered to come to my apartment for free to make it work. This is true professionalism! David Yasuo Henna read more

I highly recommend Richard of Easy Computer for any computing issues. He is professional, reliable, friendly, and provides fast service. He is also great at making suggestions by researching options, and is reasonably priced for his service, saving money and time. I received a computer with faster processor to replace my ten-year-old computer. Richard showed up promptly to set up the new computer and replace the monitor, and configure Internet access. What impressed me was he brought extra cables, which might have been needed for this work. Luckily I had all cables that I needed. Richard carefully copied all data from my old computer, including bookmarks, and local email folders and transferred them to the new one. He also provided a set of new wireless key board and mouse at a very reasonable price. He also took out the hard drive from my old computer before recycling it. Who would expect that the tech person takes time to give you the hard drive of your computer? When I needed a higher resolution monitor, Richard looked up the website and made a recommendation which one to buy. I am computer illiterate, and would have no idea how resolve computer problems, but now I feel safe, since Richard would be here to help me! read more
