TLDR: Richard was very flexible with drop off and pick up times. He gave a thorough diagnosis and was able to identify the issue. He gave a realistic assessment of cost to fix versus value of the item and gave an honest recommendation. 5 stars. Rain or shine Richard is always in. During the crazy 2 weeks of rain, my son's computer stopped working. Richard was still working helping businesses with their network failures through the storm. Always good to call ahead and he can work out time to meet if necessary. Reasonable pricing for both labor and parts. Easy to understand explanation. My son's laptop is an ASUS Vivobook 14, model number X1404V. He claims it isn't charging despite it being plugged into the laptop charger. He's tried at different outlets. We tried getting a replacement charging cord and that didn't work, so it's for sure something with the computer itself. We spoke to Yoda at Gadget Guyz about the issue and he let us know it will require bench work and gave a referral to Easy Computer. Dropped off on Tuesday for diagnosis. Results of diagnosis on Thursday. Richard confirmed that there was at least one bad component in the motherboard, so it would require a full motherboard replacement. A motherboard replacement would require dismantling the entire computer and replacing it and putting it completely back together. For a motherboard replacement they are not done in-house, they are sent out to New York. Parts alone would be nearly the cost of the computer brand new. Labor and to send out would double it. Picked up Friday. Richard gave a good recommendation on next steps. Consider if it was still covered under warranty, where I purchased it, what would be covered. He was very sweet to work with. read more

Computer wouldn't turn on so we brought it in to Easy Computer same day. Owner was able to diagnose and fix the problem in about an hour, taking out the BIOS battery and doing a hard resart. In using my computer, I'd gone to a site, received a virus warning, got out real fast, but then in the lower right of the monitor, crazy and scary warnings constantly were then cropping up, "...You may lose your hard drive....You have 11 viruses...." Rapacious unlike anything you'd ever seen. Scary too. Richard could have made some money off me but instead gave me advice, "Your free AVG Antivirus is good; some people will supplement it with another, but not necessary." Richard is the owner of easy computer. He is very helpful, experienced, and the type of person that you want working on your computer! His shop is located just outside of Waikiki on kalakaua Avenue. There's parking right out front, with super easy access. I came across Richard on Yelp after I had some trouble building a new pc system. I had this about 90% built, and was having trouble with some of the connections on the motherboard and the fans. Called Richard in the morning, and he was helping me a couple of hours later. Terrific service! Richard is exactly the type of person that I like doing business with, a single person company who takes his time and makes sure that the customer is happy. The speakers on my laptop was getting very muffled. After troubleshooting with Microsoft, Windows and HP, they all came to the conclusion that I needed new speakers. After reading the great reviews of Richard, I decided to call him. he spent a good 20 minutes on the phone asking me questions and searching to see how much new speakers would cost. He suggested buying a BlueTooth speaker (that it would be much cheaper). But he said before I did that, to bring in the laptop so he could check and see if it could be some simple software problem. I brought it in the next morning, he checked it and agreed, the best solution was to buy BlueTooth speakers (which I ended up doing). And all this for NO CHARGE! Updated review for Easy Computer. I came here a few months ago because my laptop with Windows 10 wouldn't boot and constantly stayed on a black screen. It was still under warranty but the company I bought it from weren't able to help me fix it over the phone. (In my personal opinion, they did more harm than good.) Even though it has been a few years since I've seen Richard, he still remembered me clearly. I told him my situation and we also had some great chats outside of my computer problem. I picked up a computer virus on my laptop recently and needed help restoring my computer to working order. My laptop would start, but the virus made my home screen blink every couple seconds making it impossible to search or open any folders. I highly recommend Richard of Easy Computer for any computing issues. He is professional, reliable, friendly, and provides fast service. He is also great at making suggestions by researching options, and is reasonably priced for his service, saving money and time. I received a computer with faster processor to replace my ten-year-old computer. Richard showed up promptly to set up the new computer and replace the monitor, and configure Internet access. What impressed me was he brought extra cables, which might have been needed for this work. Luckily I had all cables that I needed. Richard carefully copied all data from my old computer, including bookmarks, and local email folders and transferred them to the new one. He also provided a set of new wireless key board and mouse at a very reasonable price. He also took out the hard drive from my old computer before recycling it. Who would expect that the tech person takes time to give you the hard drive of your computer? Richard diagnosed a Dell d620 laptop for me and said it was finished (RIP) which was very disappointing because I prefer the old Dell latitude laptops for the tall screen (3x2 aspect) that doesn't force me to hunch over. They are also very durable. Somehow he found a Dell d630 which had the same screen but was in far better shape and even upgraded to Win10. Got it for the same cost as a normal repair. Incredible!
