I feel truly blessed to have found Dave to repair my laptop. Since I don't drive, the fact that he offered to pick it up was already above and beyond. After I handed it off, he called that same evening to explain in detail what the issue was and what steps he planned to take. The very next day, he delivered it back in excellent condition--and the cost was more than reasonable. I had come across a review where a woman expressed anger over not getting her laptop back immediately. What she failed to mention was that Dave had been hospitalized for two months and was unable to attend to his clients. He explained the situation to her, yet she still went so far as to call the police, accusing him of withholding her laptop. He has stood me up MULTIPLE times to drop off, and there is no business at this address. He basically diagnosed my problem over the phone; I needed a new extender! I needed to get my Dell desktop checked out because after years of perfect operation it started shutting off by itself. I sent out an open request for quotes and Dave at Cinematic was the first to respond. He msgd me and asked the issues and said he could check it out at no charge for the quote. I selected him because he was the closest (being in Kailua) so I dropped it off the next morning. He called me that afternoon ans told me the bad news that it was an overheating issue and most likely a short circuit in the processor, pretty rare but I guess it happens. He tried several fixes with the heat sink, fan, and power supply but none of them properly fixed the issue. Due to the age of my system he recommended I just transfer the data files to a flash drive or another unit explaining that even if I changed the processor, the rest of the components were still 5 yrs old so prob not worth it. I had a newer laptop so I brought it to him and he transferred all my files to it and gave me the hard drive as well. I let him keep the rest of the parts ans he charged me $75 for the work which was reasonable. Dave is now my go to guy for any computer or software issues I may (will) have in the future. David is awesome! One of the main reasons why I went with him is because of his responsiveness, and his reviews were good. Then when he told me that he would charge $40 for diagnostics but that he would waive it if we ended up asking him to repair it, I thought that was great. He ended up replacing a bad module in our desktop computer that wouldn't turn on, and in the end he charged us a total of $80 which I was very happy with. Our desktop computer is only two years old, so when it didn't turn on, I was cringed thinking about how much it would cost to fix. When I showed up I told him I was able to clear enough space but was still having trouble. While I was completing my taxes, my five year old desktop computer crashed and despite trying all recommended fixes, it would not reboot. I called David and brought the deceased computer to his repair shop. He QUICKLY examined the computer and confirmed that it wasn't worth reviving. He removed the hard drive and copied all of my files, photos, music, and videos to my portable hard drive and then assisted me remotely when my new computer refused to work with either of my printers. He talked me through the loading of a newly updated Windows 10 operating system which got me connected to both printers. David was prompt, highly communicative and skilled, and affordable. I contacted David via Yelp because my laptop was powering up but not able to run. He responded immediately and I was able to take it in the next day (Saturday). Very convenient since I live in Kailua. He checked it out and found that the battery was the cause of the problem. Took out the defective battery and now the computer runs fine on AC power only. I have never had better service from a computer repair shop than I did at cinematic! I called on short notice and asked if he could take a look at my husbands computer, it's a desktop that has been sitting for a year or so not able to turn on. He was gone on deployment and I didn't know how to deal with it, so when he got back and we finally got around to having it looked at, this is the first place we called since we live in Kailua. We asked if we could get a quote and he says we could stop by right as he was closing for the day and drop it off. The next day he called and said it was fixed!! I was so surprised he was so fast and said it wasn't even a big problem, cleaned out some build up, out back some parts the right way and ran a billion updates and finally we could see the display again! Super cheap and easy fix but even if we have bigger problems I would be willing to pay David whatever it takes, I trust him with my computer and he's actually the one I called when my friend broke her phone and he recommended gadget guys! I brought two computers in and he fixed the desktop during the diagnostic steps. The laptop I had taken to another computer specialist who told me the computer wasn't worth fixing. I was told exactly opposite from Cinematic Computer-- he gave me his opinion and said, given the age and specs of the computer, he would spend the money to fix it if it were his own. He replaced the hard drive, transferred data, and reloaded Windows. It took only two days for the completion and I walked away with two working computers for less than $300... My boyfriend's Dell laptop from work died while he was here visiting me from Australia, and as I live in Kailua we called David to make an appointment to get it checked out.
