I find this sales practice extremely misleading. At checkout, the cashier asked if I wanted "$35 or so back" toward my next purchase. I said yes, and she simply told me to follow the prompts on the screen. What she did NOT tell me was that she was starting me on an application for a Best Buy credit card that would result in a hard inquiry on my credit report. Yes, I should have paid closer attention to the prompts, and I take responsibility for that. But that does not excuse the way this was presented. There is a huge difference between asking a customer, "Do you want $35 back on your next purchase?" and asking, "Would you like to apply for a credit card?" Had the cashier simply said the words "credit card application," I would have immediately declined. Employees should not be initiating credit applications by describing them as an opportunity to get money back and then relying on the customer to figure out what is happening from the payment terminal. A financial product that can affect someone's credit deserves clear, verbal disclosure before the process is started. I walked into Best Buy to make a purchase. Thank you to Caz who alerted the manager Zach to help us with the multiple returns. We were at customer service for one hour and Ryan was trying to help us, but there was an issue with the computer. He was having a hard time with retrieving the information. We walked away to pay for items and we're going to leave. Caz was helpful in listening to my frustrations. The saga continues. A second oven range was delivered today and it was also damaged during shipping so I couldn't accept it. It had a dented back and pinched wires which is. A fire hazard. I've now been waiting for 2 months for my new oven because the first oven was damaged also and missing a part. It takes about 2 weeks at the soonest for a delivery. Dealing with customer service is terrible because I have to wait until the next business day after the return because it takes them that long to update the order status on their side. You call a number on the mainland and get kicked around. I want to cry I'm so frustrated. They wanted more money to replace the oven when the third delivery attempt showed it was back ordered and the wait was 4 months! Any decent customer service rep would have just swapped the oven out and ate the extra $50 cost but Luis doubled down and said there was nothing he could do and not even a supervisor could help. Trying to get anyone to answer the phone locally and help sort out the issue is impossible. You get routed to their main number which is all automated and doesn't understand any prompts so add that frustration on top of it taking forever for your appliance to arrive in working order. Apparently going to the store to pick it up takes over a week longer than delivery. Nothing has been fast or easy dealing with this. I do not recommend buying appliances with them. The warehouse does not open the boxes to check for damage BEFORE they deliver, which is a waste of everyone's time. I wasted about 6 hours of my time on the phone, chat and email with customer service and preparing for a delivery that never came (twice!). The warehouse delivery guys never check the appliance back into the warehouse so it shows up as delivered in the system (this happened both times). Never again... I happily paid $200 more to have Lowe's deliver an oven instead. read more

They didn't have what I needed at the Pearl City location so the staff assisted me in purchasing it online for pick up in Honolulu. The process was seamless and I felt comfortable purchasing such high priced items ($257+) because they allowed for the items to be returned within 30 days. I live in Honolulu and ordered and paid for a TV from Best Buy Honolulu on a Tuesday. The website listed the TV as available for pickup in 1 hour. I decided to have it delivered the following Sunday. The delivery window came and went without any communication whatsoever from Best Buy. I called their customer service department who was quite unhelpful, but finally told me that something went wrong with the shipment (not sure why it needed to be shipped). They stated that I needed to call back on Monday to get more information. Later on Sunday I received an email stating that the order was canceled due to the TV not being available. Just went to Best Buy and purchased 8 big appliances for my home. With the expert help of Tony , it was a smooth, efficient, and enjoyable process. The last time I bought appliances I went to Lowe's and got PTSD from the delivery procedure which took all day and night to arrive. I felt like I was held hostage in my home waiting . Morning passed no word. Noon passed no word. I tried calling but the phone rang 24 times and no answer. Finally a human called me today they were on their way but their truck was stalled due to a dead battery!!! $&@#%^*!!! In stark contrast, delivery from Best Buy was super efficient. I was contacted by text and able to call the driver to confirm and give him extra directions. He had good clear English communication skills which made it so much easier. We have been very pleased with Best Buy's sales and service over the years. Yesterday, we had a challenging experience with a delivery. The company Hawaii Unified delivered a stack washer/dryer. Two workers installed it and started short cycles for the washer and dryer to make sure they were working. They left before the cycles finished. When the washer started to drain, water ran all over the floor. One of the workmen had told me that the hose on the machine was rather short. Still, he put it in the drain at a too shallow level and left. As it turns out, it wasn't nearly long enough. The workmen should have stayed for the cycle to end or told us to get a longer hose. I couldn't reach anyone at the company, even using the emergency number and contact for Best Buy. In a panic, I turned the power off and called our contractor. He came, realized the short hose was the problem and went to City Mill to get an extension. He connected that and waited for a rinse and spin cycle to be sure it was working. For Best Buy, I have two comments: (1) be sure your delivery company really is well-versed in problems that might arise, (2) caution buyers for problems like a too-short hose from the manufacturer. We first went to the Best Buy across waimalu shopping center (pear city). Terrible customer service. It's as if you're bothering them when we asked for an item. Do not purchase the extended warranty on major appliances like washer/dryer if you plan to install outside like a covered washroom, garage, etc. They denied my dryer repair because of that. Even though they can't provide proof of that section in the warranty. Ironically they paid for my washer repair under the same warranty and the washer is NEXT to the dryer. This is a 5 year extended warranty that expires in 2028. I canceled the remaining period and got a prorated refund. read more

I will never ever buy any kind of electronics from Best Buy EVER again. I got a laptop there-- it never really worked well. It often jams, is really slow, sometimes just shuts down out of nowhere, sometimes won't let me log in and I have to force a shut down. I paid $200 extra for a better warranty, but can they help me with these issues? Nope, I have to pay another $300 if I want that fixed, and would have to send it in for 6 weeks. Then, the sound breaks down on me. Okay, that they can fix because it's under my warranty. Mind you, I've only had this laptop for just over a year now, and it's been giving me problems since the start. I also bought a monitor from them. After 2 months it won't connect to my laptop anymore. The same laptop I bought from them. It connects to other laptops and my laptop connects fine to other screens, but this ONE connection doesn't work. I bring it in for them to look at. They say it's because I "pressed a wront button somewhere". It'll be $200 to fix that. Even though I got a fucking warranty on it. THEN, the monitor screen just won't turn on anymore. Not that I was using it anyway, but still. It look broken EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN'T TOUCHED IT because it didn't work with my laptop, remember?? So I send it in for repairs. I had a great experience discussing electronics and appliances with their staff members, who were friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. I went at a time when I knew they wouldn't be busy, so I'm sure that helped with how much energy and time they could spend. The installations themselves went smoothly and were surprisingly quick! My GOU was acting up and I called Best Buy to see if they could test it to see if it was the source of the problem. Their support said to bring it in and the Geek Squad could take a look at it. I showed up and Geek Squad said that I need to haul in the whole PC. So, since I was there I thought I would check out what GPUs they had in stock. Looks like they are sponsored by Nvidia. They stocked several of those overpriced cards. I only found one AMD card. After staring at the case, for about 15 min a sales clerk asked if I needed help. I asked about the limited stock and they said that they would get another sales associate that could better assist me. No one ever came and I left empty handed and frustrated. This was an online purchase of a washing machine. Best Buy delivered our washer much faster than other appliance stores, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the installation experience was one of the worst I've ever had. The installers arrived on time, but they parked in front of our neighbor's driveway. When I asked if they could move the truck in front of our driveway instead, the shorter installer simply replied, "We'll be fast." The other installer was courteous, removed his shoes before entering our home, and was professional throughout the visit. Unfortunately, the shorter installer had a poor attitude from the moment he arrived (along with bad hygiene). He was dismissive whenever I asked questions. For example, he incorrectly told me I needed an extension cord, even though the washing machine is designed to plug directly into a wall outlet. When I asked what a tool was for, he sarcastically responded, "It goes with the washing machine," rather than explaining its purpose. The biggest issue was the quality of the installation. The drain hose was simply placed over the laundry sink without being secured. During the very first wash, the hose came off the sink and water spilled everywhere. We then noticed every load was coming out steaming hot even though the machine was set to Cold. We discovered the hot and cold water supply hoses had been connected backwards. These are basic installation errors that should not happen. A loose drain hose can cause water damage, and reversed water lines affect how the appliance operates. After a few days, we corrected the hoses ourself. I hope Best Buy provides additional training and quality control so future customers don't have the same experience. read more

Remembering back in the Comp USA days that I've frequent this location as I am no expert of how to install, operate and troubleshoot it all as I slowly discovered the computer world. Fast forward to the present with all things internet and modern technology of doing it all yourself I'd never imagine doing so but have learned so much here with their advice and assistance. On this visit as I purchased a new iPhone and needed some accessories was hoping to find it here...and as I walked in feeling hopeful several staff manning the front was more into their conversation and more so for security purposes never gave me much thought, prices comparable and are pretty high...not much different so the drive all the way out here wasn't worth the effort along with the construction that added to the insane traffic. I found myself at Best Buy's Honolulu location in desperate need of printer ink. After I did an inventory check at other office supply businesses (I learned there were no Staples in Hawaii), this store location was the only one in relative proximity that had any in stock. Normally, I would order these on Amazon or Ebay, but I needed ink ASAP. I was generally fine with the Best Buy brand, but I found myself shopping with them commonly as a last resort since I felt there were better options. At best, was I able to buy what I needed and maybe things I didn't!? PURCHASE Canon 275 B/W & 276 Color Ink Set ($29.99 x3): Thankfully, the in-store inventory matched what I found online, so I bought all that they had. These were smaller cartridges compared to ones I was more familiar with; therefore, they ran out of ink quicker. After I returned to where I was staying, I inserted the ink cartridges, printed out the documents I needed, and I was satisfied with the results. On a weekend afternoon I went looking for a tablet to use with Live Transcribe, for an elderly person who is hard of hearing. Keith in the Samsung section went above and beyond with finding exactly what I needed and making sure it would work for us. Keith was knowledgeable, efficient, and patient. Then, we tried it out, and -- it works really well! After it's set up, it can work without WiFi. We're just showing that one program. Made the text size nice and big. They TEXT me saying "Hello bestbuy delivery team, Abe 5 mins away".. 30 mins later.. I replied via text.. "I'm still waiting, if lost, CALL ME".. Guess what.. They read my text and did not acknowledge! See picture. I'm fuming! I needed to speak with someone asap. I called the Iwilei store.. I was on hold for almost total of 2 hrs! I Never got to speak to anyone.. I could hear "clicks" they pick up put me back on hold.. Chat option.. I started a Chat option at 6:30pm.. I finally got a reply from the chat the next day at 5:00am! Are you Serious! So, lesson here.. if you want to speak with someone, you need to visit the location! Overall.. the lack of service, competence, and communication, isn't there!
