If they decide to honor the cheaper website prices, BEWARE of any additional fraudulent fees (ie delivery, etc.) tacked on. How they've managed to operate this long is beyond me. Wow, you either hate Discount Store or you love it, based on reading the reviews. I guess I haven't had a bad experience here, but I wouldn't say that it's a 5-star place. So far, we have purchased a dryer and a refrigerator, and both times we have had great service and fast delivery. The owner Mike helped us today buy a refrigerator for my in-laws. It was about 30 minutes prior to closing and no one else was in there. Mike showed us what he had in stock and steered us away from the grossly big 27 cubic foot models. He correctly recommended a smaller 22 cu. foot version which we purchased. Delivery is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 business days from our purchase date. Not bad. Delivery and installation are "free," but if you have the time to shop around you'll find that Discount Store does charge a little bit more and then include the "free" delivery in their prices. As far as we were concerned, it was a wash. I like that they delivery pretty quickly. Their delivery folks did a good job with our dryer. I hope I never get the delivery people mentioned in other bad reviews. I think you just need to monitor them carefully while they are delivering your item. read more

My refrigerator (11 years old) died August 27, 2021. I immediately shopped Lowes, Home Depot and Best Buy. First, I could not buy anything on the floor, all had to be ordered. And, almost all were stainless steel and I did not want that. Also, I had to have a counter width depth. So, I went to The Discount Store on Pensacola. Looked at various refrigerators. Explained to the man at the desk that I wanted white, the size, etc. He showed me a Whirlpool that was a bit smaller than my old one. He checked on his computer and told me it would be on island on or about 9/1. He was close, considering Labor day, etc. On 9-14, 3 men brought the frig. One man put it together, arranged the shelving, etc. Now, I have had a good look at the frig. There is a dent on the left side near the bottom that I did not see. Also, there are tiny pieces of plastic sticking out of a couple areas and I'll have to figure out how to remove them. Also, there are few pieces of tape on the right hand side I'll have to remove. And,one gouge on the right hand side of the hallway entry, near the bottom. Both Home Depot and Lowes offer free delivery and $25 to remove the old appliance. Discount Store charged me $150. In hindsight, I should have gone back to Lowes or Home Depot, ordered the same frig from them and hoped for the same time frame of delivery. But, they could not guarantee a date like Discount Store. Living without a refrigerator or freezer, is horrible. So , I paid the price. I have a new frig. Would I do business with them again? No, not unless I would be forced to do so. read more

Not thinking I checked ,Lowes and Home Depot but not Sears or Best Buy due to the fact that Kenmore buys anything made by someone else and slaps the Kenmore Logo regardless of manufacturer, nor do they advise you and Best Buy (Pacific Kitchen and Home) took just over 2 months to repair a dryer on warranty. Both Lowes and Home Depot told me they could not deliver the refrigerator until about 3 weeks after purchase. No refrigerator for 3 weeks? You've got to be kidding me! I happened across The Discount Store in a small ad because they're a local company so I headed right down there. Mike, the owner was very helpful getting me the right refrigerator and GUARANTEED next day delivery. His prices are in line or lower than the big box stores and carry a lot of US made appliances which make getting parts a snap compared to the foreign models. I got a Maytag refrigerator with a 10 year compressor warranty and got it delivered the next day as promised. They even took away the old Kenmore at no cost. The Kenmore turned out to be LG and would have taken a month to get the part and who knows how long before the repair. That's not the case with American made appliances. The price was great too and it was nice knowing that my money was staying in the state. Mike is a stand up guy and is good to his word, We had a small problem with the refrigerator and he got someone to come out right away. Very impressive. When it comes to appliances this store rocks and I am happy knowing the money spent stays in the state. Give this store a try! You won't be disappointed! Mike is a man of his words. Bought a new refrigerator for my rental unit because the big box stores didn't have the right size available. Paid $45.00 for haul away of old refrigerator and $80.00 for delivery because I had 10 steps even though they advertise free delivery. During delivery, a piece of my newly built steps was gouged out and the refrigerator was dented. While putting on the handle, they scratched the front of the refrigerator. I called the store and they told me to send pictures which I did. They never called back so I went to the store and asked for a new refrigerator and for a repair of the stairs. The owner of the store, not Lipo, told me they would only take the refrigerator back if I paid for picking up the refrigerator and also paid for delivery of the new refrigerator and that they don't repair steps. After saying I was going to report them to consumer protection, he changed his mind and credited me with the $80.00 delivery fee and $50.00 for the damaged stairs and said he was going to take the money out from the delivery guys. My wife and I ordered an upright 18 cubic foot freezer for 942.36 on May 2nd, 2020, and was told that it would arrive at the end of the month. I called at the beginning of June and was told that it was delayed due to COVID, and was told it would arrive the next week. I called again in a week and was told that it would be at the end of the month. If we wanted, we could change our order to a smaller chest freezer. We sent an email inquiring about the order on July 8th and never received a response. I called on July 18th and was told that it would arrive in a week. Finally called again on July 30th and was told that it would be another week, at this time I asked for a refund. I will never conduct business at this place again. While we understand that shipments are delayed, and things can be out of the business's control, straightforward customer service to call with updates would have gone a long way. read more

I have patronized The Discount Store since the early 1990s, when Mike and Lito were on Hotel Street. Suffice it to say, Mike and Lito provide excellent service, at a great price. We buy all of our appliances from The Discount Store because products are made in the US, and Mike stands behind the warranty. Any issues (which rarely happen), and Mike has his people there for quick repairs. Quick delivery is also a PLUS. If product is in stock, they have next day delivery. If it needs to be shipped in, usually get it within 1-2 weeks, which is great. I was looking at a refridge from Sears, it was back ordered....expected delivery time 5 weeks....not happening. We got a better fridge (for the same price) from Mike, delivered in 2 days. I am going back later this week to pick up a stove. I don't know anything about the car stereo installation, alarms, or karaoke. But I do know that when it comes to appliances, Mike and Lito are the men you want to deal with. You would think that it might have just been a bad day, but this is my second time coming to this place. Purchased a lemon washer/dryer combo from them last year. Broken gear box and had I not purchased the extended warranty, I would have had to thrown it away. The tech arrived two weeks ago from SEARS. They said they need parts and will have them delivered to my place and reschedule my appointment in two weeks. After the 13th day two parts arrived in mail. SEARS requires you to call a 800 number to confirm you have the parts and to confirm my appointment that was made for tomorrow. I called the number the rep had no idea what he was doing. Kept interrupting me and deliberately put me on hold for 30min. I called back and pressed a different extension and I was in a black hole of never ending "press 24 to speak with ..." I called back again and was told there was a third part that was back ordered and will need to postpone my appointment until the third part arrives. I'm assuming this part needs to be manufactured somewhere with undocumented children labor that will take another couple of weeks making this warranty repair a month to fix. I didn't necessarily hate The Discount Store, it was just moreso promises that were broken that made me upset with them. Their knowledge is a little limited but it seems like they are trying to help the customer. However, this could be interpreted as "making a sale" so you would have to be the judge on that. I originally asked them for a new radio system. i found the one I wanted, an Alpine touchscreen with navigation. I purchased it and they were kind of enough to install it for free. Upon purchasing a new car I asked if they would be able to uninstall the new purchased deck and install it into the new car. The owner "Mike" said it wouldn't be a problem. After removing the deck and purchasing the new car I brought it back to get it installed. It was discovered that Mike wouldn't be able to do it! The reason I am giving one star is because they worked on the ignition and broke the electrical power steering. Here is when I ran into problems, the guy who worked on my car tried to play it off as if I brought my car in with the problem already and only tinkered with the wires in front of my face when I asked him to fix it. Only to be told by the owner that there was nothing that could be done, that I had to go to the manufacturer. I would say the installer gets a 3 star rating for trying his best (I think) and the manager a 1 star rating for not being able to do anything about it. But I am even more pleased with the service I received at the store and upon delivery. The day I came into The Discount Store I was beyond frustration and more than a little impatient, yet Lito and Mike could not have been nicer, or more helpful. They went out of their way to be helpful, took extra effort to answer my questions and allay any concerns that I had. The delivery/install team was excellent! They did the most professional job I've ever had on an appliance install. Having had two counter top depth refrigerators in this same space before--neither had been installed as well as this one --it is the perfect install making a countertop depth refrigerator really countertop depth! THANK YOU install team. Other reviews have been less than positive, but my experience was nothing but positive so for my future appliance needs I will start my search at The Discount Store and shop local. I negotiated a "cash" price with the other (Asian) guy for the stereo and an RCA cable. I left, went to the bank, and came back. When I went to pay for it Mike was at the register. He picked up the RCA cable and said "oh, this cable too expensive. You can have the other one" (lesser quality cable). Having dealt with places like this before, I didn't feel like rolling over and letting this guy nickel and dime me for what I had negotiated for. (In a condensed version) I argued with him for a bit, He called ME a crook. I told him that "I negotiated a price with the other gentleman and then you, who I never spoke to, comes and starts changing the items. And you're calling me a crook?" I told him I'd give him $5 for the original negotiated RCA wires. Mike finally rings me up and includes tax. So I explain to him that that's not how "cash" negotiations work. He threatened to call the cops because he said I was trying to steal from him and called his "installation crew" to come and hold me so I couldn't get away. (I was standing there with $200 on the counter in front of him) He still yelled at his guys to grab me. So I turned around looked the guy in the eyes and said, "did I not say I would pay just now!" I hate this place!! The most horrible customer service I have ever had. There's a very rude filipino guy that thinks knows everything and thinks that you don't know what the hell ur doing. He was telling me stuffs that the thing I wanted to do with the car cannot be done which I just wanted to replace the radio and utilizing the existing amp on the car. All I'm asking him was if they have the vehicle specific interface for the car.
