They had what I was looking for so not a 1 star but cashier Roman is very rude. Came in for a new controller, saw it was a locked product, walk up to the register he's on the store phone with someone and hangs up after telling them "they're employees suck and to get better ones". He then is ready to assist me, I say "can I get a ps5 controller?" he says "which one?" I say the $74.99 one, and he's like yeah but which color? and I tell him any color. I'm paying for it now and I ask if it's the same charger as the ps4 controller, he just says no, I pause to wait for him to tell me which one it does use, he doesn't say it so I ask and he says usb c. I then ask if it comes with one and he says no like it's a dumb question. i buy it anyway because i need the controller but he doesn't say thank you or bye he just turns to his coworker and ignores me. I tried to buy a item at around 8:30 last night, I go to purchase the item and the worker tells me that their credit card machine is not working, FYI while the store is still open. So I give her the benefit of the doubt and say I'll come back tomorrow to purchase the item at an earlier time. I just went back to buy the item and they tell me they SOLD the item.... This morning I went to GameStop in Kahala Mall for a Pokémon drop. We had people standing in line. Most customers were probably there from about 5 o'clock this morning just to find out that they're not going to get any merchandise today because they had to be there the day before to have a ticket. It sounded like the tickets were exclusive to certain individuals who were actually shopping at the mall that day. Sounds like more like a friends and family type of situation... I feel if GameStop is going to be doing anything like this they need to let everybody know not just certain individuals who are shopping the day before. It needs to be posted up on a bulletin, Instagram or their website not just for the people who are walking around in the mall... then on top of that, the manager switched up the tickets at the last minute. The tickets that were issued out were limited to two per ticket per customer then, as the stock was running out, he switched it up to one per ticket per customer which it should've been in the first place we've been going here for years for Pokémon cards and it's always been one SKU per customer. Why at the last minute did you switch it up and then on top of that why did you guys do this the day before and not let everybody know ahead of time and then when I talk to the guy about what's going on, he said it was to control the crowd so nobody would be fighting. Who's fighting at Kahala Mall? You might get that in another area, but nobody sitting over here fighting each other for no damn Pokémon cards. I want to know if they did that at the other GameStops here in Hawaii. And this ticket that I have in my hand was given to me by another customer who didn't want to wait in line anymore which was cool of him he had three extra tickets and he gave one to me and two other people that were behind me. And I find that funny because if you already had a ticket and you were exclusively going to get something, why are you here at 5 o'clock in the morning? If you're guaranteed something, you could come anytime of the day. if GameStop is going to do this, they need to make that throughout all the GameStop's not just one and please let it be known to everybody who shops at GameStop. do not be sitting here causing chaos and ruckus over some Pokémon cards. We already have a hard enough time getting it as it is with all the THE scalper and all the bots if it's gonna be first come first serve leave it as that if we're gonna go back to 1992 where we do pre-orders then do that where people have to come in the store to set up pre-orders you could do as many pre-orders as you want and call the customers when their pre-orders is ready. We're trying to do our best to hunker down at home with the rising covid numbers, so when a friend was cleaning out her old things and offered me her son's old wii system, games and remote controls, we happily accepted. The thing is, we're pretty uncoordinated, so we kept dying in those mario games, LOL but hoped that the dancing games wouldn't be as embarrassing! We hopped to a gamestop and found out that the used wii games were a steal - most range from $0.99 to $4.99, and they were offering 20% off if you bought more than 2. Plus, you can return pre-owned games within 7 days for a full refund for any reason! I hunted for dancing games from a few stores, and found out that they have an even better deal - buy 5 of the pre-owned games that are $4.99 for only $10!!! Plus, at the Kahala store, the employee convinced me to join their program. Others told me about it, but he patiently explained that this would be especially great for me since most of my purchases were for the inexpensive games. This program is $15 per year - and comes with a $5 voucher every month, so it's like I get a free pre-owned game every month! These games are old, and the music is a little dated (honestly, I'm not up with the hip new songs so I got pretty excited about 10 year old songs like American Boy!), but they still work and it's been the best bonding time with my seven year old! This GameStop has no organization whatsoever when it comes to the pokemon tcg release days. They give some rules and then do not follow through on honoring and enforcing their own rules that they set out. There were people who started to line up about 4 am when the Starbucks opens. The security opened the mall doors at 6 am. The GameStop has a new sign that says no lining up till 7:30 am. All of the people in line outside before the mall doors opened agreed to honor the line outside. Then when we get inside there's already the candy store lady and her niece and grandson lined up inside. They claim they've been there since 3 am. The principal is just wrong though. The security was very clear that the customers wouldn't be let inside the mall till 6 am. This worker abused her privileges as a mall employee to get inside the mall to line up early. Then because of this lady many people who were not near the front of the line decided to rush to GameStop and not honor the line we made outside. These cutters were very belligerent and rude to the rest of the people when they tried approaching them multiple times. They essentially said they wouldn't move till the GameStop manager told them they had to. Fast forward to when the GameStop manager comes on site, over 50 people vouch that there are these ppl who are cutting and they're arguing with the manager now. Eventually 2 of the just leave and the other 3 stay but the manager told them they will not get ETBs they will only be allowed sicker packs. I appreciate that the manager listened to the majority of the customers and didn't let the cutters win. Organizing still needs work but the manager stood up for what is right. Some people need to go back to kindergarten to learn how to line up in a single file line and not cut in front of others and shove them. My praise again to the manager, imo he handled this situation with the best solution. read more

They train people to be soulless pushy sociopaths here. They're going to sit there, and tell you in basic terms that you're an idiot for not being a member. I stopped buying things after more than two decades of dedication when they wiped my points from my account. Over 300,000 points held over the slim hope that one day they'd bring back exclusive physical rewards. Since a thousand points is basically a dollar, I just never thought spending it was worth the effort saving them unless I could get something exclusive. And over the course of roughly two or more decades i built a good stockpile. Than, about a year ag, gamestop suddenly changed their policies and notified customers through emails. An email that I created when I was in elementary school and used to create my pro membership account was how they tried to tell me they'd wipe out hundreds of dollars worth of points. The sales associated kept talking like it was my fault for not seeing an email on an address i made over two decades ago, which was aggravating. I basically just stopped regularly buying from them and today was my first time since making a purchase with game stop. The sales associate asked me if I wanted to be a pro member and I told him simply no thank you. Than he started berating me by saying "you don't want to save money". And I simply said out of principal, I don't really like giving patronage to gamestop. He wouldn't stop and I explained simply the reason why I don't really come back and why it wouldn't be worth it for me. And he kept insisting that I just like wasting my money. I told him that gamestop essentially robbed $300 worth of points from me and countless hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars worth of points from it's clients, i wasn't happy regularly shopping there, and he still kept poking at me. Eventually, I told him I wasn't mad at gamestop for stealing my points (I'm just disappointed) and that i'm not holding him or the store accountable. But he kept repeating himself about why it'd be worthwhile for me to join. I repeated i pretty much never shop here and "I'm not mad, but do you want me to be mad right now?" He wouldn't take the hint and I had to repeat myself two more times before he finally dropped it. I'm not naming the associate, I don't want any trouble for him. But gamestop is the smelly under arm of gaming. Go to amazon instead if you can help it. They're both soulless corporate entities but at least one gives you a better deal. read more

My husband, son, and I are all video game freaks. We always seem to be at a Game Stop no matter where we go. Every Game Stop seems to have the same layout. There's a gaming console on either side of the entrance that people can play games on. The cash wrap is at the center of the store towards the left as you're heading in. The salespeople at this location are friendly and knowledgable. They answered a ton of our questions about the new games that are coming out. You can preorder games at Game Stop and pick it up on the day that it's released. That way, you don't have to worry about it being sold out. They also have a buy back program. They'll give you store credit for your used items. Usually if I buy an Xbox game for $60, I'll get back $30-$40 in store credit, depending on how old the game is and on its popularity. read more

I feel like every time I come into a GameStop I end up having 15 minute conversations about anything and everything. Usually about Game of Thrones and the Arrowverse lol. This store is inside Kahala Mall near the theatres. It's always bright, clean, and organized. The staff here are very friendly and helpful, and are super passionate. They always have the good Funkos, and games and accessories. I rarely play any video games on consoles, so I'm usually selling off my games, accessories, and consoles, or just buying gifts for friends. GameStop has a strange buyback value system. Accessories along are worth more alone than if you sell the console set. I sold a PS3, and I got more money selling them separately than as a set. Basically they bought the AV cable, AC adapter, and one controller, and I threw in the console for free. That yielded me more money than if I sold it together. Sure I could've kept the console, but I have no use of it with zero controllers and accessories. I'm happy the staff here are honest and want to give the customers maximum value. They could've easily just taken the least value. Even though I don't game, I enjoy coming to this GameStop whenever I'm in Kahala Mall. I have a confession. I'm secretly waiting for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake for PS4. read more

The sales associates that work here are really friendly and very personable! They know their video games and the latest if you need advice on what to buy! While I used to be a pretty good gamer in my youth and college days, I rarely play anymore, unless it's online games. But a stop in GameStop on weekend made me rediscover what I had known for a while. There are plenty of titles to choose from, and sequels to games that I had played in the early 2000's. Gosh, this place is somewhat of a nostaglia in a way. This GameStop is in the heart of Kahala Mall Shopping Center and the parking is plentiful. There is a wonderful assortment of titles to choose from and the store staff is good and friendly to help you, if you have any questions about any products you may have in the store. They do have a good selection of games though. While I have outgrown my days at video games, I sometimes just come over here and just see what the new games are like. No buying, just nostagia. Alot of the newer titles, especially the sports ones and the fantasy ones are pricer. That won't stop alot of people from buying them, but it's one of these things where happiness can make or break a kid's heart with video games. The store itself isn't big at all. During a pandemic you would think more people would go above and beyond for others. Game stop has had my membership information on record for a long time being I have a 14 yr old gaming son. I bought an Elite series 2 remote and GameStop extended warranty in July and it is now not working properly. Due to the pandemic they had none in stock so they set up one to be shipped to my home. I paid and it was sent as I was expecting. At the time of sale I was not told I had to take a picture of a sticker or the receipt, nor was I told I have to show proof of purchase , which I thought no big deal Costco tracks your membership purchases forever maybe since GameStop is a huge chain they do the same. NEGATIVE! Without even checking under my phone number or name she sends my son and I home with a $300 paper weight. I will never ever buy anything from GameStop again. It's been a long time since I was really into gaming, I'm definitely more of a casual fan now. Because of this waning interest, I hadn't been in a GameStop in a while. I was in just browsing the other night and was pleasantly surprised to see they also started stocking collectibles and toys (things I never grew out of)! They also had many on clearance or at least normal prices. The store was big and clean, great selection of games for newer users. The staff on every visit was super friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to help me find stock at other stores. I also dont frquent Kahala Mall very often, but this time we were passing by and needed a cheap game system for my 1 year old. Most unreasonable, ridiculous customer service ever. My son bought $300 worth of items on Christmas Eve, with his paycheck, for his younger brothers. One item, with a warrantee, was a pre-owned controller, which he found out at home was already broken. So, he went back to the store the day after Christmas to replace it and at first they said he didn't need to use the warrantee. My son misplaced his receipt and only had the warrantee sticker, but they told him they found his purchase record on their computer. They had it and could've printed him another receipt, but they said no and also said he had to now use the warrantee after all to replace the broken piece of controller they sold him. So, we went back and spoke with the manager but he was adamant they couldn't help us and my son had to use the warrantee if he wanted to replace the broken controller. They sold him a broken controller... If he had the receipt he could've gotten his money back within seven days. That's his fault and we accept that, but I asked the manager to at least let him keep the warrantee, but he replied, absolutely not. We have three kids who play games and we always went to GameStop Kahala, but we won't be going there again. read more

Came here tonight to do some trade ins and hopefully buy the new OLED switch. The guy who helped me was nice very nice actually. But when I asked him if they had OLED switch in stock he told me that he hardly sees shipments of them. And that he only has a USED switch in stock which I did not want. So we asked if other GameStop's on the island had any. And he said NONE on the island has it in stock and they are the only one that has the used one. At this point we believe him since, you know he was really nice. But I decided to go online and see if I could order it. And found out that multiple gamestops on the island has it! So I decided to call Waikele since they opened the latest and sure enough they said they have it. A few at that! I'm so disappointed that he would lie to me. I was sold a defective ps5 controller and called to see if I could return it but I wasn't able to because I didn't have my receipt. I use the rewards program though shouldn't it show transaction history through there? Also GameStop has definitely been going downhill. No point in preordering anymore because their shipment never comes in on time. Also, a courtesy call would have been nice so I didn't have to drive down there for nothing. Look like it's better to go the digital route now. At least if I get sold defective stuff I can return it and I don't have to worry about shipments not getting in on time. read more

We're not big gamers. My 7 year and I like to play Skylanders. We'll go into Gamestop to look for new figures and the Kahala location is pretty convenient. This review is for the one day I went in to look for the Skylanders Dark Expansion and Light Expansion set. I had seen it on the Skylanders website and saw on Facebook that other people had luck finding them in the stores. So I figured while I was in Kahala Mall, I would go and take a look. There were two females working that day and I didn't see the expansion pack, so I asked them if they had any. The first female tells me she had never heard of such a thing. Was I asking for a trap? I said no, I saw it on the website and repeated what it was called. Then she tells me she doesn't know because she doesn't play Skylanders and asks the other female if she had ever heard of what I was asking about. Other female says no also and doesn't even try to look it up on the computer. So basically, they made me feel like I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about. So left thinking that I must have been mistaken. Fast forward a week and I go into the store and there's a couple of males working in there. I ask them if they had the Light and Dark Expansion packs. They told me that they couldn't keep them in stock because they keep selling out. I asked how long had they been available? They said for over two weeks. Oh, how interesting. I told them that I had come in the week before and was told that no such thing existed. So he offers to put my name on a wait list (that they don't actually keep, but since I was misinformed, they would put my name there, hmm) Then the other male says that it probably won't happen because the wait list is long. Hmm, the wait list that you don't actually keep, but have one is so long I probably won't get a call. It's been three weeks. No call. Didn't expect one. Read my review on Ala Moana Gamestop.
