Oh, I wish I had taken pics of this place! It wasn't majestic or anything, but they had such a good supply of cards. Hopefully, you'll go and see it yourself. It was located in an unnoticeable building and the store wasn't noticeable either, but they had a good crowd inside playing. More importantly, they had a nice selection of both sealed product and individual packs and cards. Prices were reasonable, especially in this market. Best of all the people who ran the shop were friendly and helpful. SELECTION: Pokemon and Magic the Gathering are plentiful here. They had more than most shops and a good selection of Japanese Pokemon. Sadly no Japanese MTG in stock, but a really good selection otherwise. SERVICE: Excellent! Very helpful staff and friendly. Great place for Pokémon cards. Generally most things are regular retail pricing, but if it something highly sought after like the Charizard Ultra Premium Collection, it is more expensive than retail. The two times that I have gone there, the employees were really nice. I am a little sad that they have moved locations and that the parking there is not as readily available though. read more

I've been a customer of this store since they were located across from Puck's Alley ( maybe 15 years ago?) and I've noticed the level of customer service slowly decline over the years. Last week I had an incident with them that not only prompted me to write this post, but also made me decide I will never come back to this store again. I found a MTG single listed at $9.35, so I put all 5 copies in my cart and proceeded to checkout. Upon trying to pay for the items, the total price of my cart was immediately raised from about $47 to $100, each card now being priced at $20. Shocked and confused, I refreshed my cart and now each card was $25, and the total I was asked to pay was $125 instead of the $47 asked originally. All of this happened in less than a minute. What happened next is incomprehensible. I contact their customer service and they reply via email saying things like, "wow we've never seen this happen in all our years of business" and "it was some type of fluke that our 'price adjustor' just so happened to update the price of the cards while you were trying to purchase them." ..... Like, c'mon. Give me a break. Call a spade a spade and just say that you stopped my order and increased the price because you weren't happy with the price that I was purchasing it at from your store. Don't feed me a ton of BS about flukey timing and coincidences. Just be honest. Period. Instead, I just got a bunch of tiring emails from them trying to justify the increase in price and constantly telling me I wasn't targeted specifically. ....ok, the fact the you keep telling me that really just implies to me that I indeed was targeted specifically.... moving on... So I ask if my original price will be honored since it was in my cart, and through no fault of my own I tried to purchase but was stopped. it also doesn't hurt that I've been a customer for over 15 years and have given them business through my friends that I introduce to the store. They reply that they have no way of knowing that the cards were really in my cart.... Ok... so.... by their admission the price of the card jumped from $20 to $25 in less than a minute, apparently because $20 was the incorrect price as well, but they don't believe the cards were in my cart. So to them, I stumbled upon the original price of $9, then stumbled upon the card at $20 in the single minute of the entire day that it was this price, and then stumbled on it again at $25. HELLO GUYS! USE THE BRAIN.... you can see why these emails were so frustrating, because very obvious simple things were being misconstrued to fit their narrative, but their narrative lacked common sense. Obviously the cards were in my cart and I saw you change the price on me twice within a minute as they were IN MY CART, doesn't that make more sense to you than me coincidentally stumbling on a given price that was there for less than a minute during the entire day? You changed the price of the cards I was about to buy as I was purchasing, doesn't that make more sense to you than some elaborate story about a price adjustor working on the exact same card in your hundred thousand mtg inventory at the exact same time as I was trying to purchase? SO over about $70 dollars and some exhausting emails, they lost my business and whatever business I brought to them through my friends. To me, it doesn't show much business sense on their part, but at this point I have no idea what's going on over there. I will say I think the staff should take a step back and think through things before they act. They seem like pretty intelligent guys but these actions prove otherwise. I feel bad for the owners, the adult couple I would always see in there hosting all the kids. I hope they know what's going on with the staff and that customers aren't satisfied. The intelligence and response of the staff in this incident drove me away from this store, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The real kicker: As of today, the card is back to $20 because apparently the $25 price tag was too bold on their part. And yes, all 5 copies still remain in inventory. Da Planet's website says event participents must be present at least 10 minutes prior to start. I had arrived 2 hrs prior to a tournament, when I tried to register i was told that the event was full. So I waited for people to miss the time deadline. Which about 5 peopld did. I was not offered a spot. Then the tournament bracket was posted with only 7 pairs of people not 10 which means the tournament was not full! I drove over an hour and dealt with traffic. This is bullshit I will never be back. read more

After having the employee quote prices on cards I was selling to the store he said they could only offer 50% of the actual value, which isn't uncommon. However, he was barely offering 25% of the actual cost of the cards even at a played price on Star City. Then he tried to offer a "higher" trade value that would have made for about 30% of their actual value, but the cards he tried to sell me were marked up a full 10$ from their prices online. I'd stick with shopping online or Other Realms for your card purchases. read more

I came in here to find some Pokemon cards for a kid's activity. I am not a regular customer but was treated really well. The first guy tried to help me but didn't know all the ins and outs. Later when 2 long time employees came in they found out what I wanted and quickly helped me. This saved me a lot of time. Overall I like the new location. You can see their stock better. Da Planet is a card gaming store near University. They specialize in Magic: the Gathering, Pokemon, and other similar customizable card games. The location is easy to get to by bus or car, free parking is outside. There is also plenty of food in the area for those times you need something to go with your game. The store itself is brightly lit, but the ambiance is very minimal and plain. It is kept clean and nice. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase, everything is priced very minimally for the mainly school-aged clientele. Countless cards are available for purchase, also dice and other small things. They have mostly phased out their stock of board games. The regular customers and staff are friendly and welcoming. There are always people to try out new games. Not a card-gamer myself, I've only been in to play board games during non-tournament times. Despite only purchasing drinks, I still felt welcome. Warning! this is just my opinion based on my experience and what my friends told me. I know some people have good times here. Staff: 2/5 The staff have a overall quiet and negative attitude from what I experienced. Some of the staff seemed angry at me for no reason. From what my other friends have told me it's a normal thing...which doesn't really sound like a good thing. From what some people tell me and the actions i observed they do play favorites with customers which already is a red flag in my book. Service: 2/5 If you know them personally you will get a godly good service (and from what I have seen maybe even a discount) I notice they smile and they even crack jokes at people but for some of the new people I notice they are quiet and sometimes outright talking in a irritating attitude. One of my military friend was trying to order food their and they talked in a angry tone which I did not really think was respectful. They do act neutral ( nothing good or bad) most of the time but they could definitely use some improvements. Inside: 4/5 The place is really perfect for a hangout with a small group of friends again the place is small so not the most comfortable place but not the worst either. If you have like a group of 4 or less then good anymore than that there may or may not be a issue depending on how crowded it is. Fair warning the infrastructure is old so the a/c may break at some point it has happened before. Planets new location brings with it good and bad. The good is that the place does not smell horribly, is well air conditioned and has a greater amount of space for activities. The bad is the parking above all during events, with local parking attendants hounding you and giving you stink eyes for reasons that I have yet to understand. Also you have to get a key for the restroom which is an inconvenience. Planet has some of the largest pool of activities for magic or any collectible card game players on Oahu. You can regularly attend magic modern on Monday, commander on Wednesday and there will always be an event on Friday and saturday and even Sunday. There's no place like Da-Planet. I definitely would know now that I'm not living in Hawaii. There's no other card gaming place where SO much card gamer hang out. It's literally a community of itself in there. Now that I moved out of Hawaii, I now know how unique and great Da-Planet was. If you're a card gamer and wants to play, it's as good as it gets. Trades can be done here without problems, and you can play cards, XBox360, PS3, Wii, or computer without problems. It's also a great place to meet up with your buddies and play cards for a bit before heading out to hang out. Cheap tournaments are definitely a plus (like $10 Magic:the Gathering FNM Drafts!) when you and your card gaming buddies are planning to go eat out or whenever you would like to buy their singles. (which happens to also be very cheap) Employees are definitely the hardest working of the bunch. Constantly updating the stock while helping customers all the time. Saturday nights from 7pm to 2 in the morning There's a little section where gamers of the fighting genre gather and play casual and sometimes competitively in Ultra Street Fighter 4 and other games. I'm part of this group btw. Players bring arcade sticks and the pads and sometimes their own setups. It's a pretty rad place to play fighting games with local competitors of this Genre. There's a few that covers playing with these guys for fun or competitive. $5 covers you the whole night to play Street fighter, MVC and other games. There is 2 arcade machines, one is Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Capcom vs SNK Mark of the Millennium 2000. They are set on free play. When you come you'll also meet well known players who has also competed in Known Competitions like EVO, Capcom Cup and ETC. if your looking to get your fighting game style on or willing to try out this genre come on down. This is, by far, my favorite card shop on the island. I only play MTG, but they sell cards and have tournaments for other games (pokemon, yu-gi-oh, etc.). I loved going on Saturday nights to play some friendly EDH with cool people. In addition to meeting up and playing magic, they also have an internet cafe (run by an outside source), that is open pretty late on weekends. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Anthony is definitely my favorite of Da-Planet, and I really enjoy Jordan, who runs the internet cafe. I've been to Da Planet a few times to purchase some cards. I was never happy with their customer service. They don't present a friendly vibe. Most items on the shelves aren't priced and asking for a price check takes time since they have to look up prices. My friend and I asked to look through the damaged inventory. A lot of the cards we asked about looked old and beaten and were priced as if they were only "lightly played". I didn't feel as if we were treated with respect over there. I think he should learn how to be more respectful, especially since he looks like he can't even curl a 5 lb dumbbell. I'll just stick to going to ToyLynx in town by Costco, Dole Cannery. They are much more friendlier, better customer service, and their pricing is a lot more reasonable than Da Planet. read more

In terms of products its ok but honestly Toylynks has better prices. Its the employees that makes this place horrible. They busted me for bringing in outside drink which honestly is weird because all I had was water and the place sells drinks too normally im not pissed about rules like this but what got me suspicious was that people can bring outside food but are not allowed to bring drinks honestly it makes no sense either allow both or ban both. Ok so I can understand having a rule for no drinks but they sell drinks so the reason can't be because of making a mess so why? Honestly it a dumb set of rules and they don't even enforce the rules because i see people bring drinks all the time and they don't even bust them THIS is what pisses me off. My friends get busted all the time for bringing drinks even if we assure them we wont be drinking them but they don't care and they didn't bust other people for actually legit breaking the rules. It's clear the employees play favorites so honestly I feel like they are mistreating me and my friends. We respect there rules and we stopped bringing drinks but we notice them eyeing us with a angry look so I can already tell they hate us even though we apologized for breaking the rules. The employees are really rude too like when they bust people and when the guests apologize they give you this "you are on our shit list" look and they will literally ignore you if you need help especially if you are one of the unfortunate souls who got busted for something.
