Many of their locations are pop-ups around the holidays, but this one is going to be a permanent fixture at International Marketplace. It's located on the second story near the Banyan Tree; with big open windows it's hard to miss all the colors inside. Parking is validated for purchases of $10 or more, but it's much easier to get here walking around Waikiki. Their stores sometimes are overpriced, or charge more than similar stores. Despite the visitor heavy area, their prices seemed on par with what I would expect. At the time of this writing, they're having a 40% almost all of the store, which makes prices on some items even cheaper. Check sales on your next visit. They have all kinds of toys: action figures, ships, dolls, higher end collectibles for adults, board games, card games, puzzles, calendars, and cheap odds and ends near the checkout at the back. The clerk was super friendly to talk about the store and still attentive to handle customers. I look forward to dropping in on my walks.

Kawaii and cuteness overload…read more.. JQ Store Hawaii found it's new home here in the International Marketplace from the former Ala Moana Plaza and aren't we all thrilled that they did. Filled with all things Japanese it's not limited to the plushies and stationaries we all grown to love and miss as many Japanese stops have slowly disappeared JQ has a great variety to please all levels of anime lovers. Located on the second level right above the Kuhio Avenue Food Hall the first thing I saw as soon as I walked in was some discounted holiday items which is a great time to stock up and find unique decor that area so cute and fun. They do have a huge stock of plushies so fluffy and cute all covered in plastic so that you have no worries of cleanliness along with mystery boxes, huge choices of pens and model kits which are items that can be pricey but are hard to find items even in Japan. A great place with staff that are always willing to help you find items that they may help you to find or just a question, here at JQ Store its a fun trip without the long travel plans. Thank you!

I'm not an expert at clawcades, so not sure if this is the norm, but at Clawster, they have a sign on the front of each claw machine saying to ask for assistance, and so when I did ask for assistance, Clawster positioned the item that I was trying to get in the claw machine closer the space where you drop the item to win the prize and I was like "what?!?!" That is so amazing! And to my surprise we actually came out with toys from the claw machines. And what makes the experience so much more fun is when you have a worker like Ci which she worked on the weekends and she made us feel like family. Not sure if Ci still works there, but if you have the pleasure to meet her, she is amazing! Anyways, back to Clawster, if you are into collectibles, Clawster has a very large amount of varieties, for example, when I was in this crazy phase of buying labubu's, I mean, I was on a hunt going to every store in Hawaii and finding random sellers in Hawaii, and Clawster was one of my go-to for labubus. It's not the cheapest, however if you compare to some other local stores, Clawster sold it a little less compare to others, but this was back in June 2025. Sorry this review is way over due. It's a small store but the variety and quality of the plushies and keychains are good. The people who work here are friendly. I've bought some blind boxes here and was lucky enough choose the boxes that contained what I was looking for. Their plushies are cute and I win them as prizes for my students. Their gachapon capsules are reasonable also. As with all claw machines there's luck involved and I'm not gonna get a big haul every time but it balances out. Worth a visit, or two, or three :)

She had gone to Daiso on Piikoi but had heard that they recently opened a location downtown on Hotel Street. So off we went. After finding parking on Bethel Street, we walked a couple blocks mauka and spotted the new store. Terry found a few tea cups but needed more. Next we drove over to the Daiso on Piikoi where Terry had purchased a few cups recently, hoping they had restocked. No such luck. So we drove over to Woori Mart which is a Korean home goods store. Neither Terry nor I had been there before but it has great street frontage visibility on Beretania just past Kalakaua Avenue, so when Terry said she wanted to look there, I knew exactly where it was, despite the strange name. The store has ample parking on the right side of the driveway as you enter the property. IIRC, that warehouse used to house an auto dealership in the glory days of auto sales. Now it houses a Korean version of a mini IKEA. There were no customers in the store when we got there and I had an eerie feeling in the virtually empty store like we would be rushed by zombies from the "Train to Busan". Happy that the zombies were not gnawing on our legs, I still maintained my alertness because the strong vibe continued. We acknowledged, then ignored the two employees as they ignored us, but I still kept them in my peripheral vision while Terry milled around the aisles for her vials. Yups, her cups. And then it happened. The conversation between the two employees became a little agitated and their voices climbed an octave. So I moved around to the side just in time to see one of the employees semi-flail her arms and then take a couple hops like a bunny on its hind legs. I was a little taken aback but not shocked because it looked harmless like she was excising herself from the slightly malevolent spirits of boredom after working there almost all day. But I was not sure because I did not want to look directly into her eyes. It was at that point that I realized my camera had not eaten so having missed recording that moment, I decided to take shots of the interior. As I turned toward the door to compose my shot, two Korean women walked in and turned right to the back of the store where towels, blankets and mattresses were displayed. If anywhere, I thought, that would be where the zombies would be sleeping, waiting to attack. But the eerie feeling was gone. There were no zombies in the store, and very few customers. And soon Woori Mart may be gone as well.
