I prefer this Game Stop not only because it's bigger but because the guys working there know the games and you can tell that they themselves are gamers. It's refreshing to purchase video games from someone who actually plays them rather than a person just trying to put $$ in the bank who knows nothing about the items they sell. I recently mis-placed my GameStop tradein card. It contained close to $200. I was under the assumption that there was nothing that GameStop could do for me, but my wife pushed me to go in and ask anyways to see if there was anything the associates could do for me. Dennis, a young professional gentleman, was the first person to greet me upon arriving in the store. I informed him of my situation and he is extremely knowledgeable on what they could do for me. He called GameStop corporate office on the East coast, explained my situation, and informed me that GameStop could help me out, but I would have to come back during normal East coast business hours. I was ecstatic! I came back a couple weeks later (today) and Dennis helped me out again. The whole process was quick, easy, and everyone was extremely professional. Dennis is the kind of GameStop employee that make customers value such a establishment. Dennis displays a high level of professionalism and is extremely knowledgeable in products & services. I'm not sure if Dennis is a manager, but if he isn't, he should be. People like Dennis are my hero, they restore the faith that I have in customer service and it reminds me of why I rather shop in stores than online. Thank you GameStop Kahala for having great people. Many thanks to Hannah and the team who was working Monday for helping me out. I had a trade credit balance but had lost my card with the PIN. Because it was linked to my Powerup card they were able to transfer the balance to a new card for me. Had the worst service by associate named dom at this location. Went in on christmas eve to preorder an item. I waited in line and was called up by a different associate、 told him what i wanted to preorder and was immediately told it was not possible by dom. He didnt check、 didnt offer any assistance and wasnt even my cashier. However、 because he said it couldnt be done、 the other associate stopped helping me as well. I left the store unhappy with the outcome. I called kam shopping center and waikiki and both confirmed the item could be preordered. I called kahala back and asked for a manager. Dennis、 the asm、 assisted me. I explained my frustrations and he confirmed it could also be preordered. He did assist me with that over the phone. If going here、 do not go to dom. His level of service is subpar and speaks as if he knows everything while bringing nothing to the table. Training on customer service is sorely needed with this one. They were pretty helpful in finding a few titles to tide me over until ModNation Racers comes out in a few weeks. One of the better things is that this place isn't overcrowded like their Ala Moana location (http://www.yelp.com/biz/gamestop-honolulu) is (which is probably their Hawaii flagship store). It is my favorite store to buy games. They have great service! They know a lot about games. Also they can tell you how to fix game systems. You can try out all the game systems. The best GameStop on the island! Yes, I am from the Kaimuki, Kapahulu, Kahala side, but their best sales dude is named Mario. Yes, Mario. What a great name for someone who works at a game store! And he knows his stuff! From PC crap, to XBox, and RPG to Sports, he plays them all and gives great advice. My family is a regular visitor to the store, he knows our names and all the genres of games we play and the systems we play them on. It does get a little crowded in there, but smart game purchasers already know what they want by looking on-line, so for us, the sardine-ness is not an issue. Daniel and Hannah made the transaction go as smooth as possible, keeping us informed each step of the way. They really provided great customer service!!! I was buying a gift and had intially tried for a store pick at Best Buy. I'm in Las Vegas and the recipient is in Hawaii. Turns out both locations in Hawaii were sold out of the particular item, even though it showed in-stock online. So as my next option I decided to try GameStop. I called the 1-800 customer service number since it did not specify at their online site whether this same arrangement is possible as Best Buy(Having someone else pickup an item you order). I was told by the rep that all I had to do was order it online and then call the store I was designating as the pickup location to inform them that it was a gift and who I wanted to pick it up. When she tried to pick it up at this GameStop, I was informed that it couldn't be done this way for security reasons and such. I understand there's security concerns and I was ok with having to give all the information necessary to confirm it. It was a bit discouraging though that the customer service rep and the first person I initially talked to at Kahala Mall both said that it could be done. Then to find out that it wasn't the case. I called to see if there was another option available. I talked to Chelsey(sp?), who said she is the manager. Fortunately she was able to help out. It did take one more day but ultimately my gift was able to be picked up there. Five stars because the manager was able to help me resolve my situation from getting any more frustrating. read more

Never really do reviews for big corporate stores but these guys are really awesome! Came in today and was debating to get the new Final Fantasy XV Ps4 console. Dennis helped me apply for the PowerUp Rewards Credit Card and unfortunately I wasnt approved but came back later with my old ps4 to trade in and there was a gentleman also trading in a console so there was a bit of a wait (Dennis was by himself). But Dennis was very curteous and apologized for the wait and also took my console so I could browse the store. After the gentleman was done, a nice girl named Connie helped me with my trade in and she was super fast at checking it and also let me know about some events going on in Final Fantasy XV. This GameStop? EARTH-SHATTERING. The staff is almost transcendant with knowledge, and are legitimately geeky as hell. My crippling social awkwardness and penchant for undeniably uncomfortable conversation was circumvented by the staff's charm and familiarity while maintaining a professionalism to be admired. They also smell terrific. You know how most GameStops will talk to you for an extended amount of time just to mandatorily inform you to bring in your trades or reserve the blahblahblah game or some other empty-felt horsecrap brought on by corporatization? Well, this GameStop has to do that too, but they know better, less invasive ways to say it and don't sound like complete toolboxes for having done so. Pre-order, trade-in or d*ck around at this GameStop if you demand only the most orgasmic game-buying experience your sweet little cheeks can ask for. This GameStop is by far the worst one that I have encountered. Although I have been coming to this Kahala GameStop since I was 12 , never have I ever met someone as demeaning and disrespectful as their employee Shane. Yes, a typical gaming nerd name but not your typical Shane! My sister and I had walked in to purchase some Xbox360 games and were greeted by a stench that smelt like wet mop and sweat. Ignoring the smell we went on to select some games from very much lacking and very messy pile of Xbox360 games which had been placed sporadically throughout the store. Perhaps a representation of the way the employees live their lives? When we finally found some games we were happy with, we walked up to the front and were greeted by Shane, the store clerk. (Easily I was able to see where the sweat stench came from.) My sister had a gift card to GameStop and used her gift card to pay for our games: Sega Super Stars Tennis, for her, and Halo 4, for me. Right away Shane stopped us and said he needed an ID in order to buy Halo 4. Aware of this I gave him my ID but he proceeded to tell us he couldn't sell us the Halo 4 game because my sister was paying with her gift card. Upset, We went to go ask another employee if I could purchase the Halo 4 game. She assured me as long as I have an ID I could pay for it with ease. So, I went back to Shane, and asked to purchase it again. This time saying I would pay for the games as well as be using the Halo 4 for MYSELF not for my sister. However, similarly to his double chin, Shane, reluctantly once again refused to sell me the game. I argued with him for several minutes but all he could tell me was that he couldn't sell me the game because he thought my sister was going to be using it because she was the one who had the gift card to pay for it. Four times he told me this like I hadn't heard it the other three times. While all this was happening the other employee that I asked who assured me that I was allowed to buy the game stood aside like a puppet without a puppeteer and said nothing, like she hadn't even spoken to me earlier. Already fed up with the horrible service and the continued repetition of their refusal to sell us the products, we decided to leave. I am just putting this review out there because of my frustration and lack of service by the employees. I have had better service from the McDonald's down the street than at GameStop. Shane, if your reading this, take notes from McDonald's, and don't tell me you don't know what their service is like because your body says otherwise. And to the woman that was standing by watching me get refused this service, I have nothing to say to you either. Maybe both of you should take some time to go back to school and learn a couple words or in Shane's case, some new vocabulary but if you do plan on going to GameStop, choose online! read more

We normally go to the Kamehameha Shopping Center Game Stop but decided to go here as we were shopping for other stuff too. My husband had 2 kids and I had the other 1. He went in first and I came in after I walked around some shops. As soon as I walked in, a young lady follows me. I'm assuming she works there as she had a badge around her neck. And she was close on my heels as I headed to the back part of Game Stop to look at the 3ds games with 1 kid in tow. Now, I'll admit, I don't look half bad for my age, but this young lady made me feel a bit uncomfortable like I owed her money or something. She was THAT close. She didn't ask if I needed help, but kind of stalked me. It was not a pleasant feeling. I eventually made my way out and she went behind the cashier counter. I left but came back to see if my husband was ready to go. I'm so perplexed because after I came back in the second time, she didn't follow me around. Maybe I passed some kind of unknown test? Very weird. I did bathe and wore decent clothing, used deodorant...(No boro boros, I promise!) I was walking through the mall the other day and i just happened to see boxes and boxes of Nintendo Switch consoles being displayed behind the glass wall. It had the msrp of $299. I thought great, they have it in stock. I walked in and told the guy behind the counter that I wanted to purchase one. He said "oh, we don't have that in stock but you can order a console with a game for...". I went to Best Buy and bought the Switch the next day. Fast forward to today...I came back with my daughter to buy some games and another pair of controllers. They had the empty boxes of both, priced and on displayed. I grab the empty boxes and went to the counter to pay. I was told by a nice girl that they don't have the game or the controller in stock. Why in the world would they have it priced and displayed but not available for sale? That would just piss people off. They did not offer to call another store and they didn't bother to tell me that I can pay and download the game via the estore. They need to stop the practice of baiting people in to the store with the false displays. At least take the boxes down until they have them in stock. read more
