Okay, I have to admit I shop at Walmart waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than Target, but what led me here today is because after doing work at a local financial institution (just next door from Target), I actually had to use Target's restroom to wash my hands after touching multiple bags of coins (your hands actually become black from touching a lot of coins). After using Target's very clean restroom, I thought I'd walk around & check out the Kailua Store. Making a small observation.......... ever noticed that Target's store layout is pretty similar to the other Target stores in da 808??? I guess this is kinda neat, as it makes it easier to find things in the store. I noticed that the Kailua Target store also had a Starbucks coffee shop, & a Pizza Hut within the store. I really didn't have anything to buy today, but while browsing around, I came across some DEALAGES on a microwave oven. DARN! I just bought a new microwave oven for my dad, as his microwave had broke down recently. Guess where I bought my microwave??? Yes gangies..........Walmart! And ya know what???? Target actually had a better sale price on the microwave, as the microwave I bought on sale at Walmart was ($60.73 w/tax). I guess Walmart doesn't always have da best DEALAGES! Lol! Target is a nice addition to Kailua since we needed a store that has a little bit of everything, since Macy and Don Quijote have closed! I do miss our Don Quijote (especially mom), but our Kailua Don Quijote wasn't up to par as the other locations. Ours was like how the former Daiei store was set up. It didn't have a lot of varieties, but enough Japanese products. Target isn't as cheap as Walmart in most items with more variety of items, but I liked that Target carried different products and may get from different distributors? They have new & special flavored cereals, or many other products. They have a front section that has some $3 and $5 products. Good for little gifts or kids to buy. They do have a small section of Hawai'i products in the front and a small CVS Pharmacy too, that closes early and not opens on Sundays. The pharmacy may have some certain medicines when the others Longs CVS are out and even one time I needed the 2nd shot of the Shingrix Shingle vaccine when it was in high demand, and they carried it when the other pharmacies couldn't get it. Would be nice if Target carried more variety of Japanese products and more grocery items, but I liked the clothes, household items, electronics, personal products that the other stores in Kailua don't carry. Nice to have a Starbucks inside the store and you can use the Starbucks app for payment, gift card and even your red target card. There is cafe too and they carry Pizza Hut products which I always stopped by for pizza or pasta, since it's so convenient. The pizza is now a 9-inch hand tossed pizza than a personal size pan pizza! I do miss the pan crust pizza! You can use your Target circle app to save more. Just clicked on all the deals before checking out. Most of the deals are on the store brand items. I always forget to check and click on the deals, but it's worth it to save more money. You can save 5% more by having the debit or credit Target red card! Free parking when shopping at Target, but just don't wander off the premises to other businesses near by since they have cameras. Five stars mainly because it's the only major department store type of business in Kailua -no competition for that genre, but it still keeps up a generally good operation for the area. In my experience, it has always been busy, lots of shoppers; staff have always been pleasant and helpful. Usually well stocked with general merchandise that all target stores carry. Small-ish grocery area but a good variety of products for standard cooking. Clothing area is adequate, obviously not haute couture, but, again, it's stocked with general merchandise for the family. Household cleaning items and seasonal decorative items well stocked. There is a pharmacy area, but it is limited. Location is great for Kailua-it is downtown on a main street. Went to Kailua town for a gift card from Morning Brew for someone who is moving to that area and a coffee fanatic. I know he'll make quick use of the gift but I needed a card to put it in. Lights came on as my friend wanted to go to Target for a scale so I told her I needed a card and would stop here since it's right around the corner. Wow this place is huge! The drive up and go area which I utilize at the Salt Lake store is twice the size here. The store itself is also twice as large. Wider aisles made it feel roomier and you don't feel like you're going to crash your cart into a shopper coming towards you from the other direction. Got my card which I thought was priced higher than expected but then again it was encased in cellophane so there the reason (haha). Tracking down my friend I walked halfway across the store to the bathroom accessories department and found her telling everyone she got her scale on sale for half price....$17.50 which was so much cheaper even than Amazon and readily available. I pay a monthly subscription for same-day delivery. I placed an order last night at 6:51pm, scheduled to be delivered for 9-10pm. I got a text at 9:00pm stating that they pushed my order to the next day, to be delivered earliest at 8am-9am. Then I got a text at 8am, stating that my order was pushed to 9am-10am. At this point I was getting annoyed because I needed to leave home to get to work by 9:30am. I was ordering items for my health and medicine to get through the work day. I canceled my order. I've been going a lot to Target recently. It's mainly to buy cat supplies; litter, food, treats, and everything else. It wasn't planned, but ever since my cat gave birth, I've had a kitty explosion, because one of the kittens got preggie, as well. (Ugh) The prices are good and they have a great assortment of products that fit the bill. I typically order thru the app and use the drive-up service, which is super convenient. One issue I've been having tho (I don't know if it's an app thing or employee thing), is that 3/5 times, even tho I select where to put my items in the car, the employee brings out to the wrong side. Kinda annoying, since I have to either walk around my truck to then, or call them over to my side. I know it's a small inconvenience, but then, why even have that feature on the app? Close you ears Ala Moana Target... This is absolutely my favorite location and I'm sorry I haven't posted any review Kailua! For one thing it is quite a journey traveling here from town and whenever I'm searching for something specific this location for whatever reason majority of the time has it in stock. This single story location does have it all including the bathroom which is right out front, not hidden like a shameful detail which then I do enjoy browsing through Bullseye playground before heading in and shopping finding items with easy, which you should always have their app as you're able to price match items online for a better deal and get a discount for bringing your own bag as well the value here does add up when you do shop smart. Starbucks here does provide a great rest spot and with plenty of parking just steps away this spot makes this stop a reason to celebrate right on Target. Thank you! read more

I'm back at this target after a long time. I decided to go to this target after a doctor's check up at the castle medical center. As I walk in , Starbucks is too my left. It's a little bigger than the one in the Ala Moana target . Which is just in a corner . I walk Through to the electronics section looking around . I see a table top arcade machine and turn it on. I played one round of galaga. Then looked around more. Finally I asked for some help. It was good seeing Kiani again. She helped me the previous time I was at her store. I was looking for wireless keyboards for my computer. Not a very big one. She showed me some. There were not much in stock . I asked for a computer . No computers . I didn't know if it was just the Kailua target or all the targets in Hawaii that don't sell computers in the stores. Kiani told me there was no direct reason why. We talked about that . I had a reason . Pretty much everything is online. I was Looking at headphones and I saw the Apple headphones for almost $600 . I told kiani that's ridiculously expensive. The sonys that costs 35$ I bet sounds better than the Apple headphones. With its hi-fi sound . Too bad the store didn't have the Bose headphones. They have the best sound for $300. I saw this rack of new type of batteries. She explained it to me. They were supposed to be eco friendly. A pack of AA batteries were at a good price. I decided to get a pack and try them . Do not waste your time with the Drive Up at this location. 1 star only because they had what I needed in stock. I placed a Drive Up order the night before, assuming it would be ready the next morning a few hours after opening - just as I've always experienced with other Drive Up Target locations on island. The store opens at 7am and I arrive just before 10am. The Drive Up is completely empty. So I call the store and ask what time their Drive Up opens and they say 10am? At this point, knowing it takes several hours for your order to process once they open, I decide to cancel my Drive Up order and just purchase my items in store. I get back to my parking stall at 10:30 with the items I purchased and I look toward the Drive Up to see if they've opened. Still EMPTY. Much quicker if you just shop in store and get the items yourself. I've never had this inconvenience with other Target locations on island. This is by far the worst one. read more

This is a fairly large Target and kind of the only large superstore in Kailua. Although I kind of miss the daiei that used to be here, target sells almost anything and their online app features and services are nice. You can order things online and pick them up at customer service without having to traverse the entire store looking for items. They also have a few EV charging stalls that are pretty convenient since the other chargers in Kailua are always full or broken. I also like the Starbucks here. Like other target Starbucks or Safeways Starbucks, it's not a real Starbucks, but they accept my gift cards and you can still get the same drinks and products. In fact, you can sometimes find discounted Starbucks cups in the Target clearance which is cool. I did have a bad experience here once with customer service. They don't man the customer service counter very well sometimes and I was waiting like 10 minutes for someone to help me. And then they kind of just threw my items at me. Is it wrong to give target a review just because of all the dogs I saw? But honestly when your business's mascot is a dog, it's hard to object to dogs being in the store. And being that this is Hawaii and we're a very "outdoor" state, it makes sense for some businesses to at least be a little dog-friendly IMO; and I'm glad Target is allowing that. This target has been so reliable and the employees are so nice and welcoming to me and Komori. I'm able to run all my errands with my best friend in tow, and I of course take the responsibility of everything that happens with him. As heavy as purse can get, I never wanna be caught in a situation without my cleaning supplies; especially since my dog is a marker. He doesn't care about the food aisles, but once he smells another dogs presence in the pet aisles I keep a short leash. Now, as a modern dog-mom I understand that dogs and certain spaces are controversial, one being a grocery store. But the amount of dogs I saw at this Target was so welcoming. I'm not a frequent flyer to this Target so to see other dogs here made me very comfortable to come back if I'm ever on this side of the island because I at least know this is one store I can bring Komori to and not worry about limitations. read more

We went to pick up a few things at Target in Kailua. My wife seen a sign under the Tide display. It said free gift with purchase. When she went to pick up her free gift card, she was told she needed to purchase $50 or more to get the free gift card. We took a picture of the display which shows there was No explanation or stipulation on the gift card. Target honored the display, saying it was their fault by not advertising the stipulation and gave my wife her free gift card. Awesome, Target gets a 10 in my book!! I definitely like going to Target. You can literally find so many things from clothing to gadgets to food items. Grocery items are separate from the store. Hubby and I came here after he got off work and started looking around. I actually went to the beauty section and they now sell ColourPop brand makeup. I looked hard and found an eyeshadow palette that was half off. It was $7.00 rather than $14.00. Good deal and we got random items for the house. They had lots of clearance clothing on sale. I didn't find anything I liked so I skipped that. They had a lot of sweaters and jeans on sale. Plenty of parking outside. The Kailua Target is well stocked with all of the regular items across all departments as well as items specific to Hawaii. They have beach bags, t-shirts, hats and water bottle with Aloha or Hawaii plus lots of the treats Hawaii is known for like macadamia nuts, Kona coffee cookies, coffee and more. Because also have groceries, this is a one stop shopping if you are visiting from the main states and want to pick up items for your stay. I always stop here for half & half, bread, fruit, cold cuts, cheese and wine before I even get to my condo! They also have the travel section so if you are taking a trip or arrived and Forgot something, you can purchase small quantities, which is why I was here yesterday. My family & I barely come to this Target, but when we do it's always clean and really cold, so bring a jacket. Upon entrance, the bathroom is right there so it's perfect for washing hands when you're leaving also. The store seems to be arranged similarly to the other targets. Reasons why I'm giving this place 3 stars, is because the customer service here is a disappointment. No friendly smiles, workers seem lazy and don't really give helpful support in finding items, and at check out, our cashier wasn't friendly and didn't want to take the time to price match for us, telling us that we had to do other stuff to price match, which doesn't make sense because we've done the same things we always do. But yeah, like I said, LAZY. This is probably the reason why we barely come to this target. No one is helpful, no one is friendly, and everyone just seems to hate their job here. read more

Went in today to grab a Blackstone grilldle that was on sale . The associate told me they do not carry the grill in the store, that it has to be brought over by the warehouse. So the associate took down our name and phone number, we asked if we should just pay for it on the app and she said we could do that or wait till it gets to the store . So I paid for the item on the app. Later on that day I got a call that the grill was in, but the app showed it was still processing . So it turned out that the grill was the one that the associate from the morning shift had ordered to be brought to the store , not what we paid for on the app. I went to the store customer service desk and asked if I could just pick up the grill that was already there even though the app said the one we paid for wasn't ready . I was told no that I would have to cancel the online app order and than purchase the one in the store if I wanted to get it . So I went to my vehicle to call my wife to cancel the online app order like they said , went back in to pay for the grill that was in store and I was told that it had been sold to someone else now. One of the customer service associates asked me if I still had the grill listed on the online app . I told her no that I was told to cancel the order and I could just pay for the one that was already there. So it turns out the online app order grill was there as well and idk why they never marked it on the app as being there or emailed me about it, but the customer service associates found it, but told me I couldn't get it because they have to put the grill that was canceled back in their system. Frustrated with this whole ordeal the associate talked to one of her coworkers and somehow was able to let me purchase the grill . Not before talking to me blaming me as if I had done something to screw their system up. She told me I could get the grill but would have to take it and go. Calmly I told her that's what I've been wanting to do all day. Very rude how she handled things, when we were listening to what they the customer service told us to do . As much as I hate writing poor reviews, I just have to share our experience in hopes they'll improve their customer service and/or protocols of handling customers. As a frequent shopper of Target as both the Kapolei and Salt Lake locations, we rarely come to Kailua as we live on the West Side of the island. For some reason, every time we come to this location, we always have horrible service and only come here due to other locations not having certain items in stock. To start the review, this Target is located between Kailua District Park and Kailua Safeway. There is ample amount of parking as well. If you do curbside pick up, their pick-up location is right near the entrance to the left. This year alone, we came to this location 3 times and wanted to give this location benefit of the doubt that it was probably "just one bad experience" however I had 3. First one was back in May I did an in store pick up vis the app that said it was ready for pick up. Please note the time they said it would be ready was past the quoted 2 hours they quoted it would be ready by. When I got the notification we started making our way down as we were already in Kailua. Next thing we know, I get I second notification my order was canceled due to an error. It didn't say the item was out of stock (which is was) but I had to confirm it with the team in the store. So we wasted our trip there. Second and third time was for an item we recently purchased via the Target App for curbside pick up and had to come back on 2 seperate days. It was a sale item that was out of stock at 4 other Target locations on the island. Once I got confirmation this order was ready for pick up, we made our to this side of the island with no issues at curbside pick up in person however our order took longer than quoted. Instead of 2 hour pick up, it was ready the following day (note we ordered prior to their busy quoted time period). When we got home we noticed the item was sealed, but opening the item was opened and used and missing pieces. Assuming the target staff didn't know, I called them to tell them about the situation. The girl who answered the phone in the home department gave us the hardest time. Returning the item was no problem for Target, however with the item on sale and 1 item left in stock they didn't want to save the item for us for an exchange (Per target app only had 1 left in stock and all other locations were out of stock). They wanted us to drive back down first to return it and then buy the new item after because it was a sale item. We understand the policy on sale items but it's not our faults the item we bought was opened, used, and missing pieces. We also explained to them we don't live near, we already bought the item, and we just want an exchange 4 times over the phone. The girl finally gave in and when we made our way down to the location at guest services we had no apology on the horrible experience we went through and the inconvenience. We'll probably not continue to shop at this location again unless it's our only option. read more

I don't frequent this Target as often as the others. But whenever I have some time and I'm in Kailua, I'll pop in. They have an awesome dollar section and whenever I'm in search of something, it's easy to find. We purchased a basketball hoop here during the pandemic because they were the only ones on island who had one at a great deal. The box was damaged but the product was fine and it was the last one at the time. No missing pieces. My children have been playing with it ever since. I'm sure I'll pop in again sometime soon. read more
