I've driven to this business twice from across town , according to their phone message and the website they were open, only to arrive and were closed both times! Super unprofessional. I left my number to return my call on their voicemail and no response . I will never do business with such an unreliable company. read more

This was probably one of my best, if, not, THE BEST shopping experiences I have had. I own an errand running service named B Everywhere Errands, and I had a request to purchase birthday gifts for a client's wife, who were visiting from the mainland. Krista was so extremely helpful and knowledgeable about each item. I inquired about several pieces, and, Krista was able to tell me whether they were handmade, handpainted, canvas copied, where they were made, which stones were which, and she even knew about each artist and designer. I was in amazement. She helped me pick several items thatI knew were right for my new client. If there is any place where I felt like I was getting special treatment, it was here. Red Bamboo has some pretty cool island-style home decor. I loved almost everything in this place. What do they carry? kitchenware, dishware, Body products (lotions, soaps, parfums, lip balms), bedding, decorative pillows, wall art, paintings, lamps, jewelry, shells, wind chimes, picnic/backyard party supplies, and a whole lot more related to that! I love love love a dishware set that they carry here called Mud-Pie. It has a great classic beachy theme to its dishes and such. (Although, this brand is carried in many other similar stores on Oahu) All of the stuff here is one of a kind. The prices are a little above average, so if you don't mind spending a third or double more on something in here, or if money isn't an issue for you, then go for it....your house will look beautiful. I think the high prices have to do with the fact that its in a boutique store and that its in kailua, perhaps? I over heard the owner of the store say that she goes to Bali frequently to bring items back to the store. So that lamp you might buy might be hand-made in another country! :) Everytime I go into the store, I am sometimes greeted, but the employees need to work on more of a "welcoming" hello. They really don't assist you unless you ask them about it. Thats good for some people like me who don't like to be bothered when they shop, but not so good for those who need some interior decorating assistance with the products in store. Beware- no REFUNDS- Spent almost $1,100 there with my family on Nov 4th/5th. Was shopping with my mom who heard the salesperson tell us that if the painting didn't work, we could return it. After spending $320-$64 Kama aina discount I tried to exchange it today but was told no by the owner, not Kari or kylee. We also had spoken to them this week about ordering bedding in excess of $400, purchased other linens, stuff for the kitchen, bags for the house and a large art piece. Obviously we are high spending customers, repeat customers. After not being allowed exchange, I walked out. Considering we are Furnishing our property I will just drive back to the North Shore or other locations and spend money. It's better to buy and know that a dealer will support an exchange if needed than losing business. As I write this, we just dropped another $800 and $1000 on stuff for the condo, at two other stores. Even tho the red bamboo policy on the receipt says no cash refunds at any time, only store credit in the form of exchange or gift card. And within 14 days,,,, it's only been seven days for me and no exchange. So one star. The owner did say that they normally don't do exchange on art, it should've been stated to us or on the receipt I think this place is really geared to more of the Tourists and they're not friendly for local people when they have a policy that refuses to do any type of refund. I had a few items in my hand I wanted to purchase and she asked to take them to bring to the register and then came right back. She was trying to act as if she was fixing things in the store but it was incredibly obvious that she was following me. I'm a completely normal looking person that dresses appropriate. Made me feel uncomfortable and looking back wish I never gave Red Bamboo my business. read more

Walking into Red Bamboo was magical at overturn there was something more interesting than the next...it is one of those places you just want to buy everything. As we ventured deeper into the store, we both found the most amazing object, it was a root ball from Indonesia that was so naturally sculptural that once we looked at each other we knew we had to have it. Well the big question was how do we get it home? Well Carole worked tirelessly to help us get it home to Vegas(at a reasonable price). I'm consistently disappointed by this store. It seems wonderful, enticing displays and all. The customer service is severely lacking. I get the distinct impression that they are looking down their noses at me. Friends I've brought in concur. The return policy is not spelled out as clearly as they seem to think it is - A tiny sign at the cash register. Ladies, you need to verbally spell it out clearly if you're going to have this policy BEFORE you swipe the card. If you were charged the wrong price and you pay... you will NOT get a refund... just a store credit. BEWARE. CHECK CHECK CHECK before you hand over your card. Follow-up for requested items or updates doesn't exist. Look carefully at some of the signs for sale... spelling mistakes. Prices are high, items break. If you're a tourist and want to spend a lot of money for higher end junk, by all means come plunk your money here. You'll probably fly away and get home before you realize that you paid twice as much for crap you could have bought at home and just TOLD people you got in Kailua. You're thousands of miles away so no hope of a return... oh yeah... they don't offer refunds so you're screwed either way. read more

Cute store with island style home furnishings and gifts Red Bamboo is a cute islandy, gifty store in Kailua. It's chock-full of gifts and home furnishings that make you feel like you're right at the beach. It's perfect for people who live nearby, or visitors who want to take a little aloha home with them. I walked around the store several times, and every time I did, I saw something cute and fun. They have pillows, jewelry, candles, signs, and all kinds of neat, beachy things, including little signs that say "beach." I was there in November for their Christmas party/sale, and there was plenty of friendly staff to help and celebrate the season. I will definitely go back to Red Bamboo when I am in Kailua again and I can really recommend it as a fun place to shop to bring a little bit of a tropical feel to your home. read more

After looking at the Tokyo Milk website for their products, Red Bamboo was listed as a store that carried their items. I found all of two Tokyo Milk products, on a table towards the back of the store: perfume in a spray bottle and lip balm, and not in the scents that I tried out at Macy's Ala Moana. They did have a hardcover book entitled Party Hawaii: A Guide to Entertaining in the Islands, bu author Kaui Philpotts, which I may have to get later. read more

This place is GREAT! Quijana actually recommended me here, but I thought she meant the one in the mall, which is small and not as awesome. I was on the hunt for a few little extra things to put into my best friends birthday box of awesome gifts and I figured Red Bamboo might have those things, I was right. When I entered I saw a lot of really cool wooden signs and burlap bunting that had Beatles quotes, and L O V E spelled out on them. I thought that was unique, but not exactly what I had in mind. There were tons of nautical theme glassware, bedding, entertaining sets, and decor, which is totally rad. I wish my dining room was set up to look like a magical mermaid dinner party. There was a tiki bar area that had plenty of supplies to set your outdoor bar up, I saw a set of glasses that were PERFECT. They can be wine glasses or cocktail glasses. In the corner was a HUGE red Buddah statue that I had visions of being in my garden, but I didn't want to drop $1200 on it. I also saw gorgeous shell chandeliers and THEN I spy the wind chimes. I did NEED a new wind chime for my porch and so I picked one out that spoke to me, and took it home too. This place is great, you WILL find something for yourself or someone else if you're in need of a gift. You will need to take your time to look, as the place is pretty big and has a lot in there. My husband and I are visiting Kailua for the week and just stopped in on our last day here to pick up a keepsake. It's our tradition to get a Christmas ornament wherever we travel to. I asked the sales lady if they had anything like that and she told us they had just packed them away but knew where they were. They went above and beyond for us to find exactly what we were looking for. We appreciate their time and thoughtfulness! I would recommend them just due to the customer service but the shop is filled with beautiful, unique items and we enjoyed browsing. Thank you! read more

They insist on blocking handicap access by keeping their door open, making it very difficult to maneuver a wheelchair or walk with a cane to access the elevators to Straub Kailua upstairs. I don't care how cute their stuff is I will never be a patron of a business that intentionally blocks handicap access. read more

As a Kailua resident, I went to the Red Bamboo and purchased a $7.00+ Hawaiian style decal for my truck window. Turned out that when peeling to separate the decal from its cardboard backing, you could not do the peeling successfully without tearing the decal so I stopped before damaging the decal. I took it back to the store for an exchange and the salesgirl told me you should try rubbing the decal hard and it should separate OK. I took the exchange home and did the rub, rub, with no success. Both decals were defective and I suspect all others were probably old stock. I took the second one back for a refund as I did not want to take a chance on the same thing happening. I was told by the clerk that, sorry, but we don't refund. Only exchange or credit to be issued. So, if you sell defective items to your customers its OK? You're stuck with it? Can you imagine Macy's, Costco, Target, or Ross's selling you a new toaster/TV, etc. that you only wanted that model and it did not work when you took it home and they said sorry. I love this store. I have such a hard time going there because I love so much of the merchandise and can never decide on what to get or come out with things for me!!! So many great things to choose from. I've never been to Bali but just love all the furniture, clothes etc from there. Your jewellery is really lovely! Great for gifts: between the gorgeous dishes, platters, tablecloths, napkins, ocean themed things....I could just go on and on!!! Love the new bigger store, more room to move around! Went to a xmas party thing there last year ~ loved that ~ you should do that more often!!! :) The girls in the store were very welcoming and friendly and helped me alot with my decisions! This store has really cool home decor but HORRIBLE customer service. My husband and I were getting ready for a move to the mainland and stopped by the store for some local home decor. We found a couple of things we really liked and went to the cash register for check out. The associate (who had been on the phone the entire time since we arrived), barely looked our way and didn't even ask if we were ready for check out. She was obviously "gossiping" about another associate with the person on the phone, talking about their schedules or something of that nature. We seriously stood there for 5 minutes while she yapped and ignored us. I finally said something sarcastic and then she proceeded to get off. If it hadn't been for the fact that my husband really wanted what we had chosen, I would have walked right out of there. I will NEVER shop at this store again. I get better customer service at a place like Martin and McArthur than this low rate store. read more
