Shopping in Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i…read more.. Strolling along the sidewalk, I passed by Aloha Kira and did a double take. I saw Miffy on the top shelf of this store. I had to go in and ask... "Is this store related to the one in Waikiki?" Yes! This is the sister store of Kira x Miffy at the Royal Hawaiian Center! Of course, we had to look at all of the Miffy merchandise... fanny packs, hair clips, stickers, caps, plushies, etc. Other items featured Hello Kitty, Kuromi, My Melody, Snoopy, and more! There were pet gifts and a children's corner! The decor was cute and bright! Service was cheerful and attentive! We'll be back because this shop is more convenient than Waikiki! Plus... there's free parking behind the building!

Why two stars? Because of something I find so absurd and ridiculous as a business. I wanted a pink miffy clip. One of the two girls that were on the phone gets up and rings me up and tells me my total is $27.53. I give the girl a $50 and she tells me she doesn't have enough change and asks for me to pay in smaller bills. So you're telling me you don't have at least one $20 bill and two $1 bills? Or two $10 bills? Or even four $5 bills? Part of me wonders if that was their roundabout way of telling me to pay with my card so they could add the surcharge for using a credit card? I just told her no need then, and walked out. One of them yells "have a good day!" as I'm walking out. At least they remembered their customer service at the end.

We were drawn in by all of the colors, varieties of merchandise, and quality of goods. SoHa Living has several locations. This store is known for home decor, home furnishings, and souvenirs. Besides tote bags, we looked at earrings, hats, magnets, zippered pouches, pillows, shell necklaces, note cards, dishes, and more! Staff were busy with customers, so we really didn't interact with anyone. It's a great place to browse and purchase gifts!

This is a short update on my visit and review from last week. It's a "good news, bad news"…read moresituation. The food news is that the stench is gone. It appears that whatever was causing it (most likely the clogged drain pipe) was quickly fixed, and everything is smelling clean, and back to normal. The checkout still had only 1 line open, but there wasn't much need for more when I came at 11:30am. The clerks smiled and were more cheerful than I had experienced in the past, so always a plus. On the negative side, one of the main reasons I came today was due to the Tuesday special ad items. They unfortunately didn't have one of the items I specifically came for, and after one of the floor clerks checked in the back for me, he said because they "share" these items with Times Market, they often don't receive any; which I think is terrible. It's not the first time, this has occurred, and it's very annoying, and I hope they remedy the situation for more fair and equitable allocation, so it doesn't feel like a "bait and switch" type of situation (I know it's not, but still, very frustrating). The coffee shop is separating Olive and Oliver. How cute! I come in about every few weeks to check out if there is anything new and exciting. I'm not a man, but they have some really cool items in the store. Besides clothing, there is toothpaste, ceramic coffee cups, wallets, towels, shoes, belts, vinyl records, and more! They often have sales, so I always check out the rack for gifts. My kids love the socks from here. Very stylish. The sales people are always so nice. I can't gush enough about them. Always with a smile, and always ready to answer any questions. This last visit, my teen got into a discussion with the associate about vinyl records and what bands to check out. Also, Oliver will be coming out with a compilation record next month. It will have covers of great hits, but lounge style, but still local. We were lucky enough to hear part of it. Everywhere you look there are amazing and unique pieces of clothing, hats, small pieces of sculpture, jewelry. He has amassed an impressive collection lot legit vintage jackets (some from France, old military pieces and cool Levi's) and sweatshirts in cool colors with the perfect amount of fade and they are soft and comfy. And one of the coolest things (and I've never seen this before) they will professionally sew one of their vintage patches to their cool jackets or even embroider them, making each piece so personal and one of a kind. This is a special gem and a must see. Next time I will add my review for the ridiculously cool sister shop Olive's. Beautiful women's clothing, jewelry and housewares......
