Shopping in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawaii... I don't think I've ever shopped at Red Pineapple... even in the past when they were at Ward Village in the Kaka'ako area. I just was unaware. Today, I was lucky to get a free parking stall on 12th Avenue and walked inside of Red Pineapple... Wow... LOTS of merchandise! I could have stayed longer, but would have spend my entire paycheck! LOL! I liked the cute ornaments and plushies the most! The items for sale change with the season - per helpful cashier. She was easy to chat with and very friendly! I told her that I need to leave right away because I would buy about a quarter of the store! I kept looking at gifts and thinking of who would match that item. I just HAD TO get the set of Nurse Pens for my friend... they're hilarious and useful! If you need a gift for someone who will remain nameless, there's a really kawaii bunny tote bag by the entrance. Seriously the first time shopping here since their move from Ward. The familiar red pineapple smell still exists..sweet, welcoming and warm. I feel like the layout is like a friend's house you can comfortably hang out but you can buy anything. Definitely a place to browse searching for the perfect baby gift, wedding present for the bride, everyday cute items that has a certain usefulness but uniquely different. Prices are a little higher but you are helping a local small business. The service is friendly and the staff helpful. I do like this place as well because they have interesting and cute ideas if you are at a loss on what to get someone. I haven't been to Red Pineapple since they were at Ward. I stumbled upon them on my way to a restaurant in the area. At first glance, it can seem overwhelming as there is so much merchandise. I took it in section by section and found that this would be a great place to buy local goods to send to loved ones on the mainland. The owner, Nalani, came to check in on me and helped me find the cutest gift for my nephew! I also found some great local spices for my nephew who is studying to be a chef, and a Tea Forte cup for my niece. I was so stocked to walk away with a Red Pineapple shopping tote! I guess if you spend a certain amount you get a free tote. My coworker purchased some hilarious and probably inappropriate pens, but it's going to make a great gift! They have gifts for everyone and Christmas decor. I can't wait to stop by again! read more

Years ago this store was in Ward Warehouse then at Kamakana Alii. Now they are on the corner of 11th and the alley of the public parking lot. As for ambiance I really prefer the Kamakana Ali'i store but this location has its own atmosphere. Like all her other stores this is jam packed with goodies. So you can browse and take your time so that you don't miss anything. Went a week before Christmas so almost everything was Xmas related. I wonder if they don't sell these (only a week left) if there is going to be a gigantic sale. It will be worth going back. And then of course what will it be replaced with? There was one print I did want but they didn't have, the one of Kaimuki. They really should be stocked with more rather than the other prints of Laniakai and other local spots. But I guess I'll just have to keep coming back to check for it read more

We were able to visit this establishment a few weeks ago and were quite fond of this cute place! It is located in Kaimuki/Wilhemina Rise right off of Waialae. There is a parking lot next to the shop (paid parking) as well as street parking though the street parking may be a little sketchy because the streets can get quite tiny. The service is really friendly and are willing to help you if you have any questions or are looking for suggestions. I love these little shops that sell trinkets and gadgets! I would def come back to shop more for Christmas and birthdays. read more

I have been in to so many boutiques that sell a variety of locally-made goods however, nothing compares to Red Pineapple. Oftentimes in other boutiques, I am disappointed that the items I find that I like are out of stock, or there are too-few options, or I am looking for something in particular but they just don't have it. None of these is the case at Red Pineapple. Their selection is perfect; everything that I liked I had multiple options from which to choose! All of my favorite locally-made items like Bradley and Lily, Nick Kuchar, Lyric and many more were there. There were multiple other new items I hadn't discovered yet and I had a ton of fun browsing through everything. I remember shopping at their old location in Ward however, their new location in Kaimuki is even more convenient being close to the parking, around the corner from Coffee Talk and next to several bakeries. It's no surprise they have been around for so long-they clearly know that they are doing as far as stocking the items buyers want. Moving forward I plan to do more of my birthday and holiday shopping here, especially because my mainland family always wants the latest and greatest, trending new "Hawaii" items. Red Pineapple has been at Ward Centre for about 10 years, and we'd often pass by even though we were attracted by the cool and fun gift items in its gigantic window display. Walking in today, we were immediately greeted by the saleswoman/cashier as we exchanged air hugs with Aloha. She mentioned that the store had recently reopened from our latest Statewide COVID-19 lockdown and it was encouraging seeing more people out and about. She was engaging, welcoming, and appreciative that we stopped in. The store is filled with fun and unique items which would surely please most tastes. For me, I just went crazy over everything but my husband reminded me that we were looking for a gift for a family member's upcoming birthday. We could see so many possible gift choices and having this variety made our decisions a bit easier. After setting aside several choices, we narrowed the choices down to ONE. However, after we got home, we looked at the gift and decided to keep it for ourselves as we "justified" our purchase would be better for us than for our family member. Besides, we had just come from Nā Mea Hawai'i and had already gotten one part of the family member's birthday gift. Oh well, I guess this just means that we'll be back out shopping again. read more

I discovered Red Pineapple in the Kaimuki area when I went to Otto Cake for cheesecake one day. I walked inside the shop and saw a lot of things that would be great for gifting to friends, family, and even mailing to the mainland. Slightly hidden and located off the beaten path of Waialae Avenue sits one of the newest additions to the Kaimuki neighborhood--Red Pineapple. Red Pineapple has moved from Ward to Kaimuki, on the same block as Coffee Talk. Their permanent space is a block away from their temporarily larger space for the holidays, but all on the same street. They brought all the awesome things from their old location, as well as all the aloha! I popped in here for some gifts on Small Business Saturday, and the owner was in. They have the friendliest ladies working there, and they know their stock. I asked about a housewarming card and they took me right to it. Plus lots of friendly chit chat while I was being rung up. So many things in the shop are locally made - there is a good representation of local makers and artists. Nick Kuchar, Tidepool Love, Manoa Chocolate, Keiki Kau Kau, and Rifle Paper Co are some of my favorites, but there are also local honeys, salts, and spices, tons of cards, glassware, toys, Christmas ornaments, bags, SO MUCH. Honestly, I'd buy one of everything. Loads of great gifts for anyone, but especially those on your list who love interesting and local items. Metered street parking nearby, or there's the municipal lot across the street. On a Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised to find street parking - usually Kaimuki is bananas on weekdays. I just visited their new location on 12th ave (by Otto Cakes and across from Via Gelato) and it is lovely!!! You can park in the metered lot East of the shop (when facing the mountains) or the pay at the booth lot to the West. I think this second lot I mentioned is free for 15 mins or less;) There are also a few metered spots along the street right out front. They have organized everything so nicely in this new locale and it is a spot of rainbow bright happiness in one of Honolulu's best neighborhoods, Kaimuki!! It is the perfect spot for kama'aina like myself to pick up a truly unique Anniversary card for their parents (as I did today!) or to go and find incredibly special and one-of-a-kind treasures for anyone on your list (or yourself!). However, it is also worth a visit from those visiting our beautiful island of O'ahu as one can find novel gifts to bring back home to your family and friends. They have a huge selection of locally made products. I loved perusing the snacks from popcorn and cookies to cooking spices! They also have the BEST cards. I like to stock up on a few, so I'm ready for any occasion. They have colorful and fun gifts for keiki (kids), too!! Nalani has a great eye for design and can help you find things throughout her store to get those awesome gifts together. I wish I took a gift of the contents inside the gift box, but the gift box was for a baby shower and inside there is a onesie, swaddle, and pacifier. All of the items were eco friendly and made with natural products, which was an important detail for my mommy to be friend! The towels were just too cute...one for each family member...they loved it!
