The Paperie is located at Kahala Mall. I don't go to Kahala Mall often, but I've noticed that it is more of a neighborhood mall with locally owned businesses that sell Hawaiian products. It's not as flashy as Ala Moana or what you will find in Waikiki, but I'd say it is a better place to find locally made goods. I recently wrote a review for Papyrus, a greeting card store with locations at The International Marketplace and Ala Moana. The Paperie is very similar to Papyrus, only that it provides even more unique greeting cards and gifts made in Hawaii. This is a good stationery store if you are looking for good quality Hawaii themed greeting cards and gifts to send to friends off island. I like the Hawaiian themed Christmas cards sold here. I will be returning to buy cards that my friends wouldn't be able to find on the mainland or in other countries.

Cute store located inside Kahala Mall. I love all things stationary and decided to drop by. Found the cutest lunch bags here for friends. They sell really cool things with inspirational messages on them. Tons of beautiful cards and stationary, along with a lot of other goodies to surprise loved ones with. Employees were friendly and quick. Definitely a great place to visit if you are looking for a gift.

My purchases: RFID wallet case, sticky notes, gelly pens.

Stationery stuff is my weakness so I enjoy browsing thru this store. Love the random post-it notes that will make you snicker for its crude humor but I like the affordability of the Japanese gelly pens. They come in sparkle and shine colors that will pretty up my paper. When you spend more time in the office than at home, it's the stuff I live for. Located inside Kahala Mall near Macy's. Take advantage when they occasionally participate in the mall's special events. They normally discount the purchase of one item during this time.

Not a lot of selection here, but they were nice enough to tell us Longs had a better choice of post cards. Got one small card here.

I like this store. They have a lot of unique items that you can't find anywhere else on Oahu. The store is clean and orderly.

An unfortunate and sad backwater relative to the bright Koko Head Cafe next door. You won't find aloha here. Shop local elsewhere.

It's a craft supply store. A quaint small mom and pop style craft store that can easily be a gift…read moreshop as well, to pick up those unique gifts for housewarming and other special events. It's a cute store that's very well hidden, if you weren't looking. I blame the 2016 Pokemon Go fad / craze for my discovery of The Craft Bear. It just happened to be next to the Koko Head Cafe, where a Pokemon gym happened to be. When I walked through there, I noticed The Crafty Bear and never new this place existed. I blame my ignorance over the years and I've lived in the area for a significant period of time too. Still, it was a good find for me in the heart of Kaimuki. One thing is for sure, this place is HOT! Not amazing, but very freaking humid. I felt the air quality drop 15 points when I went inside and there's no wind in the store. The store itself is quite small, but it can be maneuverable. It feels like it's someone's closet and they're pretty much having a garage sale, but organized so neatly that it's quite nice to see their collection. I really wish that this place have some air condition, but it is what it is. The overall experience here was pretty neat actually. Like going to the swap meet at Aloha Stadium, but it's a little different with what The Craft Bear has to offer. At least the lady tending the shop was nice, keeping an watchful eye on me. I'd recommend this one, if you've been to the others and can't find what you need. Consider coming here. The Crafty Bear offers the patron a nice but limited selection of various crafts and also has decorative vases for indoor use. I surely could use a couple of them for some feng shui applications at home. If the arts and creative stuff is your game, feel free to come here to discover what you may be missing in your latest project or get ideas and inspiration for your new project. Art is always nice to be creative and let your imagination run wild in the most opportunistic ways. The Crafty Bear sells some basic supplies as well as other fun stuff you can play around with. They are located at 1145 12th Avenue, #B, right next door to the aforementioned Koko Head Cafe and next to the Kaimuki branch of First Hawaiian Bank. The Crafty Bear seems out of place, but it's a good discovery when Kaimuki town is still in transition - even in 2016! They accept credit cards, visa and MasterCard only, which is quite nice. The parking here can be awkward, with paid parking across the street. There are nearby residential parking for free, but you'll need a walk about half a block - maybe more - depending on where you park. If you are like me, TheBus routes 1, 1L, 14, and 9 run by here and stops at the quintessential Koko Head and Waialae Avenue bus stop. The prices here are generally adequate. You can find some good bargains here, although the quality can be comparable to what you'd find elsewhere on the island. Probably be best that you'd price compare before committing to buying. While I do support local businesses, I'm always budget conscious too, stretching that dollar to some good value to where it's needed most. While the selection here in kind of lacking, sometimes you can get stuff here that you don't normally elsewhere, so it's definitely worth the look over here at The Crafty Bear in Kaimuki. The service here can be touch and go, but what's new about a small mom and pop business anyway. I felt that it was a good average time spent here. While I did have my eye on some nice indoor vases, I figured that I should have shopped around elsewhere before coming here to get the best deal. As long as they look pretty and the price was reasonable, I took that gamble and got a couple of them. It looks really good and happy with my purchase. For what it's worth, there can be deals to be had here, if you know what you are looking for. You just may find it and glad that you found this place before someone else did. 4.0 stars for being in Kaimuki (location). The fact that I did stumble upon this place was a coincidence, but happy that I did. While the service can be okay, 3.5 stars for that and the quality of the goods for sale was better than I expected. 4.0 stars. The presentation could be a tad better, but it is what it is. 4.0 stars overall. Hidden gem, depending on what crafts you're into. Support local! B

The owner here is just a delight with so many components to make anything that you can imagine and my idea was to make a bracelet for the lunar new year and I've always wanted to learn and give it a try and here they sell various types of cords to do so with a great selection of colors and sold by the yard (mine was 0.50 a yard) you're not committed to too much but just what you need. The charms and gems here are just so impressive that I'm literally walking around in circles looking and deciding on which one so I just pretty much grab them all to decide later and she showed me some dragons that she had as well that was so adorable! Everything came together well as it was a learning experience that I did enjoy and now know that with some imagination...anything is possible and you can find the items here at BeaDazzle. Thank you!
