I've come to Magnolia before for their Jellycat collection. Today was such a disappointing experience. I walked in and went to go look at the jellycat display. I wasn't there long before I noticed the lady that was at the register was suddenly in the corner very close to me staring at me while I was browsing. It's such an uncomfortable, upsetting experience being profiled. I got what I wanted and quickly left. One star for the cashier who was friendlier. read more

Many different souvenirs to choose from. For instance, there were wooden coasters, ceramic coasters, regular coasters. Got some items and would have purchased more if we had more room in our luggage. read more

No matter how many times I came this store to look around. The customer service is never there. Not even a "Welcome " or a " thank you ". Just a cold stare as I walk inside. They always have this stare like I'm gonna steal something. I hope they be a bit more enthusiastic with customers coming in no matter they're looking around or planning to buy something. read more

They don't mark the prices on the products. The woman presumably the owner rang me up as I walked away I noticed the price on an item. Ridiculously priced wooden honey dipper for $9.99. Tried to return it. Nope store credit or exchange only. Sorry I'm not local and you really should mark the prices on the products you sell. Obviously I am not going to let this store keep my store credit until the next time I'm on island. Seems like a shop that gets little traction, judging by lack of reviews and people shopping. I ended up looking around and selected something else. Paid the difference and made sure to ask her to wrap it. Terrible customer service. When you buy something glass and breakable it should be a given the sales person wraps it for you. read more

I haven't been to Kahala Mall in a long time and happened to come across Magnolia. I remember this store to sell vintage/antique items but those types of products are no longer being sold here. Instead you'll find a slightly different vibe and direction from previous. Magnolia seems to be headed towards a more local vibe and featuring art from local artist such as Heather Brown. In my opinion, it seems a little confusing right now since I'm not sure it's such a "touristy spot" to shop at or is it still dabbling in household goods/furniture? In the back of the store there is a table with chairs that appears to be used for in-store workshops classes. I love that in a store - something that doubles in workshops and not just retail. Turns out, Magnolia is the only distributor on island that sells Annie Sloan Chalk paint. If you're at a loss for what that is, you're just not clued in to that language (yet). It's one of the latest craze in DIY painting projects. I'm thrilled that not only does Magnolia sell them in different colors but that they also host classes that teach you every step in the process. Seems I just missed the February class but was told to check on the website for further postings. So if Annie Sloan Chalk Paint doesn't draw you into this store I'm not sure what else will. Like I said, it seems disjointed right now (product selections and niche). It's a mish-mash of sorts and unlike clothing boutiques you know they sell clothes, etc. Magnolia appears to be in transition. You'd probably come here for chalk paint workshops if that was your thing but other than that, it's hard to pinpoint what exactly is their specialty. Customer service was nill and void. The elderly woman at the counter was preoccupied with something other than sales on the floor. I asked her about the classes and she pretty much brushed me off and told me to look on the website. This store has a lot of items to add some beauty to your spaces: island inspired art prints and crafts from local artists, children's things, and unique gifts. The customer service was also great. Everyone so friendly and low-key. When I found a print I liked by Shar Tuiasoa, the salesperson asked if I wanted to get a frame and brought out a cute, white distressed frame that matched the print and happened to be on sale. She wrapped it all padding, gift wrap, and bow after I said it was a gift. read more

The Heather Brown pieces in the window caught my eye, so I dragged my daughter into this store with me ... discovered some new artists and goggled at all the cute stuff. It's an eclectic range of products, from local honey to specialty paints to children's clothing - I could have spent an hour in here just checking out everything. Discovered a new watercolor artist, originally from Honolulu, but now living in Arizona, Gail Alger! She does beautiful Hawaiian flora such as niu (coconut), ulu (breadfruit), white ginger, plumeria, cymbidium orchid, etc. Her paintings are beautiful, delicate and realistic! And her prices are reasonable! Wish I could have bought all her paintings... Go to Magnolia and check out all the interesting things they have in their store! Woo hoo! read more

Entered this shop today. They have nice things but nothing that interested me to buy. Browsed around and none of the two clerks behind their sales counter approached me to say hi or offer assistance. Updating my review. After my original post the owner contacted me directly and apologized for what happened. She allowed the exchange to be good for the month and gave me her number to reach out to her. When going back into the store the sales person was very friendly and the exchange was not a problem. I very much appreciate the owner reaching out to me to remedy the issue. Taking the time and effort to do that says a lot about a business and deserves our patronage. read more

I Love this store!!! I just moved here from Portland a year before Magnolia opened and was looking for some beautiful gift items that where not Hawaiian. This is not easy. When I walked in the store I felt like I was back in my old hood the Pearl district. This store is full of wonderful home decor and unique gifts. When I asked for gift wrapping the sales person said she is too busy to wrap it.... there was 4 people in the store including me and my daughter. Aaahhhh as I walk along the shade in the Garden of Eden the scent of sweet fragrant blossoms.. Oh my God I'm in Magnolia's in Kahala Mall. I guess I was transported for a moment. Reminds me of my shopping in little quaint European style villages and small towns throughout the U.S. south as well as my favorite shop in South Beach, Florida Restoration Hardware, but in a much more intimate setting. Magnolia offers a nice change from all of the modern furniture you see available these days. The store is full of beautiful antiques and vintage furniture that would work nicely into any type of space. Not only do they offer great furniture and trinkets, but they also have a great selection of artisan olive oils in their boutique. I love this place! They have everything from Heather Brown art to Kai Fragrance. If I need a gift for someone, this is the first place I come too. They usually have something for the person I'm shopping for. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable about the products they carry. One of the sales girl even had me try the different types of balsamic vinegar they carry. Needless to say I bought one and it was delicious :) read more

From decorative Items to gifts from modern to classic. the finest selection of olive oil. I grew up with olive oil and have been dreaming of a good bottle of fine oil. Magnolia is the only place in the Oahu, where I could get a very flavorful olive oil with low acidity. Most of the olive oil with low acidity missing the flavor. The first thing I notice when I walk into Magnolia is the wonderful scents. It's so clean and welcoming. I love the Olive Oil lotion, i think thats the source of the great smell. I purchsed the prettiest little butterfly pill-box case for my vitamins. I enjoy checking out their ever changing dining set. Magnolia is the perfect store for home decor and imported goods. The antique furniture imported from Europe is hand selected by the owner so each piece is unique! I just can't get enough of the fig & walnut jam and I love how there are samples all the time. The interior decorator does a great job of giving the store a glamourous look. The flower arrangements are to die for and every time a new tea set comes in I want to buy it. Even their little gifts like wine openers and pens are absolutely beautiful must-haves! read more
