After a morning hike and lunch, we decided to walk around the area near Ganesh Dosa and peeked into the Kailua Pickers antiques shop. It's a small shop but it is packed with vintage merchandise. At first it feels overwhelming with all the different items that are displayed in the store, but once you see something that grabs your attention, your eyes focus on that one area of the shop. For me, being a huge Peanuts and Snoopy fan, the vintage Peanuts Christmas ornaments caught my eye. The vintage ornaments are ceramic, whereas the current ones are usually plastic. The salesperson seeing my interest in the Peanuts Christmas ornaments asked me if I'd like to see some that were still in boxes wrapped in tissue paper. Of course, I told her that I was interested! She was so patient unwrapping each ornament from the tissue paper and displaying them for me in the glass counter at the back of the store. She also pointed out all the different Peanuts merchandise that she had in the shop, including these really cool Peanuts Pepsi bottle caps from Japan. I didn't get the bottle caps, but I purchased several Christmas ornaments and Snoopy pins. I also added to my cart 8 Disney trading pins which were 4 for $5. I walked out of the shop with so many great finds totaling $160! The salesperson was so friendly and helpful (I didn't catch her name), that it made the 30 minutes that I spent in the shop "like a kid in a candy store" experience. On a recent holoholo adventure with visiting friends, my only assignment was to take them to as many vintage and thrift shops as we could fit in a day. I finally had an excuse to come to this one and was glad we did! The shop is welcoming with lots of colors and open door. They make the best use of their space, it's a tight squeeze which is extra challenging because this place is popular! It's covered in downtown Kailua, you can either enter from the street side or park in the middle lot right out front in the shared lot. The owner behind the counter was very welcoming and happy talking story with customers. My friends found a bunch of treasures, I got a LEGO set from a recent lot and she gave me a great price. If you're a fan of antiques, this is worth the trip. read more

Omg so happy I seen someone post this hidden gem on Instagram otherwise I never would've known about it and I scored some great stuff! First off the location, the GPS kept telling us to turn across the street where the school is. Thank goodness for yelp photos we were looking for a parking lot. This spot is on the backside of the building address listed. Once you turn off the main street down a side street, you can't miss the entrance to the parking lot right after. It's a tiny spot filled with so many treasures. The sweet lady working there said it's filled with goodies from over 29 vendors. It can get a little hard to maneuver with lots of people but just have to shuffle around. Aside from clothes and bags there's jewelry, patches, stickers, and antiques of every kind. I would give this place ALL the stars in the world if I could!! This place deserves a million stars. "Wow what is Corina raving on about this time" you may ask. Well, I'm here to tell ya! This little antique & collectibles shop is located in the same lot as Cinnamons & Manoa Chocolate factory in Kailua. My mom and I were on our way to the Lokahi Kailua Market on a Sunday when we saw that the door was open, so we popped in to check it out. Upon entering, the lady behind the counter, Cheryl (Sheryl?), asked if we went to the market yet and we said we were on the way. She urged us to check out the market first, as the good items ran out quickly and they closed at 2 and didn't want us to miss it. So, after we checked out the market we came back, and she told us she meant the OTHER Christmas market going on across the street HAHA she gave us directions and pointers on which vendors to check out - absolutely amazing service from the minute we stepped into the store! There's a variety of goods in the store, all jammed into the many shelves. Each shelf is a different vendor, she mentioned. There's everything from vintage Hawaii postcards, figures, plates, mugs, and wall decor to rings, bags, stickers, bracelets, pins, and aloha shirts. My mom found three pairs of fabric scissors that she absolutely loved for $4 each, and I found some stickers (5/$1), pins, and a beautiful pearl bracelet ($5)! Cheryl talked story with us the entire time we were there, and let us use her counter space to sift through whatever we wanted to see, and told us she would clean up the mess so we could browse around more. Honestly, one of THE BEST shopping experiences I've ever had. Yelp states that they're closed on Sundays, but if you get lucky like we did and stumble across the store on a Sunday when the door is open, you can go right on in! read more

I used to enjoy going to this store to browse or buy because the sales person was very friendly and the store is jam-packed with hundreds of various collectibles until recently when I took several items from my stash to sell to them. Then suddenly and surprisingly the salesperson became very unfriendly and condescending although she did purchase a few items. I won't be a customer anymore. read more

I love Kailua pickers for the last minute knick knacks to add to an out-of-the-box gift! I don't really go to "pick" or collect things but I often find something neat or obscure to add to a gift set. While the store is really small and quite cluttered, it kind of makes the "hunt" for something fun. Plus the lady at the counter is so very nice and helpful that it's a joy to come in anyway. The location makes for a nice day out in Kailua --pay them a visit after getting some chocolate just across the parking lot and a bit to eat around the corner. read more

My friends, Mel J. and Vin S., from San Diego were visiting and needed some handmade jewelry to give to each other at an upcoming Vow Renewal Ceremony to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. Luckily, I remembered that fellow Yelper, Lynne H., sold her beautiful work on consignment nearby. I looked her up on Instagram and found the name of the shop: Kailua Pickers (short version of the name). It was on the same block of Kailua that we were on! Only McDonalds separated us! At first, we had a hard time finding it because on the Kuulei Road side of the building, there's a pawn shop and a tattoo place. We walked to the back side of the building where there is a parking lot with metered stalls - and there the shop was! Yay! I hadn't read the sign on the side of the building with the arrow that directs customers around the corner - ahhh! It actually was closing time, so we called first and asked them to stay open for us - and they did! Inside the quaint store was a friendly, helpful, pleasant owner who pulled out Lynne's jewelry from a glass cabinet. Mel happily searched through the necklaces and bracelets for the perfect item! Vin went through another part of the shop for a suitable necklace for himself. It's so appropriate! Haha! I should come back and look through the store one day. It has all kind of treasures, just waiting to be found! I also want one of Lynne's pieces for myself - everything is so carefully made! Really beautiful! read more

Stopping by while hubby was working sales in local guitar shop. What a delightful shop and even more so owner operator. Wasn't looking for anything in particular but this spot will inspire the memories way back. The merchant was on the phone closing details for another customer but when she finished greeted me and asked "what do you collect" ? Well, I've cut way back after Komari - ing my home recently but! ....I'm always hot! ....especially in Oahu. After a bit more browsing and gentle conversation She handed me a delicate Indonesian pierced fan, double winged phoenix with simple gold highlights on red paper stock, black bent handle. "Be sure and stop here" and ..."right over there is".... in the most sincere gentle voice. Cheryl, the owner of Kailua Pickers, *picked* on our grief and trust after my father died in August 2019. For those of you buying from her shop--it may be a quaint shop for little things to buy--but we had a nightmare of an experience when she came into our home and ohana to predate on our vulnerability after a death in our family. Our mistake was trusting her after our lawyer and realtor said she might be able to help us. They said they won't be referring anyone else there. She kept saying she was after "tchotchkes" or trinkets for her shop--as she combed through a table of my father's old things. I told her that the ziploc bag full of expensive jewelry was not what she was after, then. I thought that I had made this fact very clear. She told me to go about doing my things, living my life, while she looked through the stuff we had set up for her to look through -- she was going to take a while. She seemed very eager for me to leave the room. In retrospect, she definitely did not want me in the room with her. She said she didn't want to "interrupt" us as we went about our day. My older son stayed in the room, but she still managed to grab things. It all happened so quickly. She was extremely pushy and gregarious. She grabbed a quilt my mother had made and used it to cover a bunch of things she told me not to go through. I tried to wrap up the breakable items--she wouldn't let me go through them, either. She told me that I shouldn't worry about going through the belongings she had picked out for herself. I gave her a bin. I even ended up giving her some items, because they were "tchotchkes" and then she had the NERVE TO TELL ME TO QUOTE HER A PRICE FOR THE ITEMS I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO SEE! I asked her to quote me a price. And when I seemed confused, she seemed angry. So, thinking she had grabbed a bunch of little trinkets, I said $100. She seemed angrier and pulled out a hundred dollar bill from a wad of hundred dollar bills. After all this was over, she decided to give us a lesson on how to tell sterling silver from useless plate. I found out later she had stuffed a bunch under the quilt she wouldn't let me look under. And then later that night, I realized what had happened. She had taken the ziploc bag full of jewelry. She came back in her car later to bring back the bag. I don't think she brought it all back because my mother's gold chains are missing. I called my cousin who is a police officer and he said the only recourse I have is this yelp review. I went by the next morning and returned the $100 to just get his things back. read more

Today I went there with a bunch of friends to check out this shop across cinnamons was a unique shop filled with assortment of stuff from fire king Japanese floats jewelry and Pyrex all reasonable prices the clerk said things are 10 percent off and that there is 29 vendors also gave me a flyer for the other shops which was nice of her she was very pleasant . This place reminded me of all the things I grew up with so amazing ... The shop is small, the space around tables and bookshelves is tight, and there's not much air or circulation inside. But the shop owner is a nice lady that welcomed us with a smile. The collections inside included a few children's knick knacks, paintings, enamel pins, dishes, ceramic salt pepper shakers, jewelry, and purses. If you have time to go through each pile, you might find a treasure or two. I came in, looking for cute glass animal figures and a giant ceramic chicken. But nothing really caught my eye. Overall, this was an interesting experience and I'm glad I came to check it out. I just wish a fan or two were added inside. It would be more comfortable and I would have stayed to look around longer than 5 minutes. read more

Really such a cool little store. I came here while waiting for my order at Cinnamon's and it was such a delightful surprise -- little things as far as the eye can see, piled high. The employee who mans the store -- sorry I cannot remember your name but you were a woman with lots of rings and lovely wavy hair -- is incredibly interesting and sweet and super knowledgeable about everything in the store. With her help, I picked out a beautiful Art Deco era menu from the 1960s in near perfect condition. If you're an antique lover, or you want a souvenir with a little more history than just some pineapple cookies, make your way to this store. Would love to come here again. read more
