I went there a few months ago. There's available parking right outside the door and nearby. It's like walking into old Hawaii. There are so many items to look at and buy that I was there for about an hour. If you look carefully you may find what you're looking from the old days of Hawaii. I found a very interesting marble collection which I didn't even know they had. I used to play with marbles when I was very young. The marbles were so colorful and unique that I bought a few. Near the register I discovered a very small Pittsburg Steelers lapel pin. They were my favorite team back in the old days so I bought it. All of the items are very reasonably priced and the owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. They will tell you stories about their collectibles. A place if you want to look for any vintage items, going way back even before my hanabata days, While looking in his collection of many items that you probably cannot find anymore, it took me back to the good ole days. Last week, I paid a surprise visit to my friends Julie and Paké of Antique Alley. It's been over 25 years since we last seen each other. But we stay connected via email. Back in the days, I used to come to their original location behind Ala Moana Center on Kapiolani Blvd. The place was full of treasure from Hawaiiana nostalgia to rare find collectible. I remember Paké telling me a story of glass balls and how they were being used by the traditional island fishermen. They left that location after being there for over 2 decades. In 2013, they moved to the current location. The reason I know this was because Julie reached out to me needing to update their webpage, which I casually created a page for them when I was looking for portfolio opportunities around the turn of century. I did a quick shopping during my recent visit at the Queen Street location. I absolutely love the merchandise. I wish I still live on the island. I stumbled along this place as I was grabbing some taco at Thyda's Tacos right on Queen St...the nostalgia with the items that's been collected over the years felt like I was going back in time, definitely unique with every corner has something a few that brought back memories. Not exactly know what an antique items are worth but know that items here are quite pricey I thought to browse around a bit hoping to find something special I just couldn't get myself to spend that type of money. Some of the items here are absolute treasures and am delighted to have someone who's aware of the history behind them and values its worth. The owner, Pake, was extremely warm and welcoming. If you're into antiques and collectibles from A-Z he most likely has something you'd want. It's a hidden gem of a store where your business can really help support Pake and his wife. You don't come across cool nostalgic stores like theirs often. It's almost like walking into a series of American Pickers except Pake has items from all around the world. I will admit that the prices were a bit too much for my budget but Pake was still willing to talk history about items I was interested in and he even referred me to a place to purchase Japanese knives. What a lovely shop with equally lovely owners. We were visiting from out of town and trying to find a small vintage hula girl for a family member. The owner was kind enough to point out what he had along with some history of each piece. He also was wanting to make sure whatever we got was exactly what the recipient wanted. It's a shop that is stuffed to the gills with things to dig and look through. I found a book from 1944 that i cannot find any additional information on, which is really intriguing to me. The pricing on some things might be a bit higher than people are expecting but it's all incredibly unique, old and different. I found plenty of things in my price range. Bonus was I lost my hat in the shop and came back the next day and they had found it on top of something in the back of the store. Great folks and happy to support a local business. I visited this place looking for antique jewelry and I was not disappointed. The owners were kind and welcoming. Provided information and gave me the space to browse comfortably. I found a beautiful sterling silver plumeria ring as well as a pair of pink clip-on earrings. But what really made me smile was the cute golden frog bank that I found. Did I have a "need" for a golden frog bank? No and yet everytime I look at it or use it, it makes me happy. The prices for the items that I bought were quite fair. *This store has a lot of items crammed in a very small space but it is neatly organized. What a fun place to kill time! This place is full of hidden gems and junk from your grandma's house! Who knew that someone's signed 1997 Punahou yearbook was worth some money?! There were lots of random old photos of Hawaii, toys, bottles, lighters...anything! You name it. It was fun to see and reminisce about your childhood. Kinda crowded so if you're claustrophobic I don't recommend going inside. read more

Outstanding little antique shop for old Hawaiian antiques! PROs: Quite a large variety of different genres of pieces in this store. Decades of pieces in this store. They have lots of Hawaiian-Americana pieces. They have lots of island themed items. There's also quite a lot of military pieces since Hawaii has a very rich military history with all five branches of the military. They have lots of small pieces and medium sized pieces. Quite a selection of art too. I bought some really old coffee cups that I liked. There were lots of glass pieces that my wife chose. I will defiantly be stopping by this place from time to time to see what else they come across. CONs: I'm not going to knock this awesome business on star power cause of this, but they had to down size their store a few years ago. As a result of this they have a lot of merchandise some what cluttered everywhere. Please stop by and purchase a piece to support them moving back to a bigger store one day. I highly recommend all you antiquers and pickers stop by when in the area. read more

This store is a little jewel, hidden away behind all the glitz of the Ward area just across the street. It is filled, floor to ceiling, with all kinds of memorabilia. Like walking into your old auntie's attic. Browsing among the piles of items, I recognized so many things, like my dad's old lunch box, our old telephone, old products, long gone. I had a chance to talk story with the owner and I was telling him how these things brought back so many memories. He said, "stuff your parents had, huh?" And I said, no, sadly, stuff I had...I'm OLD! Haha! I even found a copy of my mom's old yearbook. How cool is that? We got to chatting about plantation days (okay, that WAS before my time) and he was so knowledgeable. It was a great experience. The shop's glass doors are a time portal. If you're in the area, take a trip in this time machine. read more

Antique Alley, Antique Alley .. omg where do I start. First, go visit the store just to talk story with the owner, Mr. A. Pake Zane ("Pake" to everyone). You will be in for a treat. He describes himself as a "Cultural Recycler". In the mid sixties Pake graduated from the UH, and then took off on a decade long journey around the world. In Denmark he met his future wife Julie. In 1980 the two joined others in forming the Antique Alley co-op. After operating their shop on Kapiolani for the 25 years, their legions of local fans were saddened recently when they lost their lease. Now THEY ARE BACK! Describing their old shop is beyond my powers as a writer, so here is a description taken from Frommer's courtesy of Ian Lind's Ilind.net blog. " The showcases include estate jewelry, antique silver, Hawaiian bottles, collectible toys, pottery, cameras, Depression glass, linens, plantation photos and ephemera, and a wide selection of nostalgic items from Hawaii and across America." But those words can't describe how wonderful it feels to browse the store. I especially liked the old cameras. And Pake also has a collection of old police and fire badges that I found interesting. How about an ancient brass automobile horn - the kind with the rubber bulb you squeeze? Yup, he's got that, and a shelf full of rotary phones too. But Pake hasn't had time to display his full collection. So now is a good opportunity to get a first look. That will surely whet your appetite for repeat visits to see the rest of the inventory. Antique Alley also buys and trades. Pake is a knowledgeable appraiser, and has worked for Antique Roadshow in the past. I bought a small PanAm pin for my friend who worked here as a gate agent for many years. I'm sure you will find something that you like too. PROS: It's heaven for nostalgia nuts. CONS: (1) Parking: there are only 6 spaces in front of the building. But in this section of Queen Street there are numerous legal and free places to park. Just be patient. (2) Prices. A little on the high side. I am not sure if bargaining is permitted. Next time I will ask if his sticker prices are firm. LOCATION: Mountain side of Queen between Kamakee and Ward. Just the best! Pake and Julie are great! Found some things for the Halloween display at work that I can display at home after Halloween! Every inch of the shop is filled with interesting, odd, vintage, quirky cool, things. I could spend the entire day day in there just looking through it all! Maybe two days! A+ I was allowed to take photos of some tags instead of buying the whole book. Taking photos of things in the shop is not a no-no like other places. It's encouraged. A The parking lot is tiny and a bit tricky, but I managed to get into a stall. I believe there is street parking across the driveway. A The shop is also on the tiny side and because there is just about anything you can imagine, taking backpacks and bigger purses with you is a very bad idea. Hard to maneuver in the aisles without knocking something around or down. B While shopping, what sounded like a stampede, had begun. It was the beginning of a dance class upstairs. It was actually kind of funny. Don't be alarmed! Pake is great! He knows back story on just about every item in his shop! So cool! Very friendly welcome from Mr. Zane (aka "A Pake") to his establishment on the door to the right as you enter the building. There is so much to see; there are cabinets that are full of curios with signs that say "open and touch!" How wonderful is that?! Julie assisted me as I looked at ivory and tortoise-shell jewelry. There is so much in here! In an industrial part of Honolulu that you know is just about to become gentrified, this is a relic of an old day and a homage to old days. These kinds of shops are increasingly rare. What do you want? There is just about anything from someone's house 10, 20, 30 maybe 40 years ago in here. My husband even found a package of old freeze dried food. This shop would be great for a researcher, not just because of what's in the store, but the owner too has a lot of knowledge. He really should write a book about local history. My challenge was the other side of a big strength -- there is so much packed in it's really chaotic and can be hard to find what you want if it's small. You have to be patient and look and look because every time you do you're going to find a whole lot more! For a lot of people, that's the point. Save some time if you're looking for something specific. If they don't know, look anyway just in case. There is that much there! Parking is tough, be prepared. read more

What an awesome store! My wife and I visited Antique Alley today in search of some antique bottles and we found a TON of great stuff (bottles, ukuleles, pictures, maps, etc...). If you are looking for anything antique/vintage from Hawaii or beyond, you will likely find it here. But the best part of the store isn't all the great stuff (although it really is awesome). The best part of Antique Alley is it's owners Paké and Julie. The are very nice and generous. Tell them what you are looking for and not only will they help you find it, they'll tell you the history behind it. The love to talk story. June 2018. When I shop for antiques, I am more interested in finding kitsch, rather then high-end kinds of items. Antique alley does have high end, but the majority of the items there are perfect for a person like me who is more interested in vintage Hawaiiana, surfing, tiki, and WW2 military collectibles. I also must mention that the store proprietor, Pake, is a fantastic person with whom you should not leave the store without having a conversation with. He is friendly and personable and has great stories to tell. Plus, he really knows his inventory. Great shop! read more

While I did not meet Julie and Paké at the store, I reached out to them via email (since I'm in CA). I was looking for an old coin from the 50's. They searched it out, gave me a price and a picture and we quickly got the purchase made. They went out of their way to accommodate and I truly appreciate the work on their end. Paké and Julie Zane have owned and operated this establishment for decades, and it is simply a treasure: an amazing collection of cultural artifacts from jewelry to house furnishings, historical Hawaiian items, retro appliances, china, figurines, a huge array of objets . . . If you can think of it, they've probably got it. Go there! Get lost in the place! It's amazing. And Paké and Julie are able to discuss in great detail the historical aspects of the pieces they have for sale.
