Part of the multiverse??? Strange how I've checked into this location a multiple times and even wrote a review a few years back, but it doesn't exist yet according to Yelp. Must be a rip in the time stream the Avengers fail to fix. So I guess we start all over. Located right above Queen Street Cafe and Grill (I know you read that review), is the place. Just cut this place into three sections: 1) Comic book rack and past issues. Selection is very limited with both present and past issues. They do have supplies like backing boards and sleeves. 2) Model/toy racks and shelves. This takes up a majority of the place. Mini figures, action figure, playing cards, models. They are here. 3) Gaming Table. After being shut for over a year, they are open. I don't know anything about gaming so you have to ask them. Overall four stars. #7 for 2020 Jesse is a great guy talk to. Very knowledgable about the industry and related events. I've been to his original location in Kapolei many times. This was my 1st visit since moving to Aiea. I must say it was a very wise decision. The location will help the business to grow for sure. New comics coming in every week are properly displayed. Older issues are in boxes kept to the front. He carries many game products including Magic the Gathering which my family plays lots of. There are other board games too. It was slow this morning giving me time to talk about many subjects related to the industry. The growth and where the market was going, the basic business model changing and the good old days before comics came to be a main stream pop culture merchandise driving force. I am from the East side and normally visit the comic book stores in town but this one is worth the visit. The staff is very nice and I really like the ambience of the store. It is a smaller shop but I personally think they have sufficient merchandise to satisfy comic book readers and other collectors. I am not really into Magic or Pokémon but they do sell merchandise for that segment. I really enjoy digging in their comic book long boxes and very happy to see what is added. I always walk away with buying something so it's never a waste of my time to visit and look around. read more

We were looking for top load card covers when we called Westside Comics & Games. Be careful when speaking or getting a quote from them as they quote one price, but when we dropped off my grandson to pick up these top load covers, they sold only 10 packs at the phone quoted price but raised the balance 30 packs by a $1 a pack. My grandson paid $30 more than we budgeted for. We voiced a concern by calling back Westside after we had left the area. Our grandson mentioned he bought 30 packs at a $1 more while returning our change. The manager said for us to come back that day and he would credit us back. If we had not caught the overcharge, it would have been a crafty way by Westside Comics and Games to sell at a higher price. In my business play book, the manager should have stood by his word and not change the price in the middle of the transaction, thus creating trust and showing an honest front. He could have told my grandson that prices went up but because he quoted at a lower price, he would honor that for this transaction only. We will not go back and will look for another source for cards and covers. Businesses who make up their own rules, are not to be trusted. read more

The sole comic and game store on the Ewa side of O'ahu, Westside Comics and Games fills the niche nicely. Located in Kapolei in the main shopping area; there are plenty of other restaurants and stores around. Parking is ample and free. The store sits in half of a free standing building away from the main strip mall. The store is small, but very nice. The staff is always friendly and engaging. They make appearances at all the local comic conventions and usually give away free comics, Heroclix, and other small items to advertise. It's a store I don't get to often, but always enjoy stopping in. The cashier is to the left, with game tables taking up the main floor. It's not a huge area for playing and hanging out, but could be enough for small group on a slow day. They have a little of everything: comics, collectibles and toys, board games, card games, and customizable war games including supplies like paints and terrain. They don't have a huge selection of any one thing, but can order for you. This is the most convenient physical store for this side of the island, getting rid of that long drive into the city just for a few books or game pieces. It's worth checking out; a fun little store for people with big imaginations. read more

Let me start by saying this comic book shop is about 3 weeks old and does surprisingly well for its age. As soon as I walked into the store the employes made me feel right at home, they asked me about Hawaii and why I was visiting, they told me about other great stores, and they struck up good conversations. I walked around a bit and noticed a TV playing Star Trek, a comic book shelf full of this months comics, a few game expansions, but the biggest thing was the Warhammer 40,000 sets. THIS IS THE PLACE FOR WARHAMMER 40, 000. They even had a game going and I got to see how it was played. One of the players (who I was pretty sure was the manager) discussed with me about Warhammer 40,000 and made me feel included. The store has a bunch of Warhammer 40,000 sets and a whole rack full of paints to paint them with. I can't wait to see what Westside Comics and Games blossoms into. read more

The bf bought the board game "Pandemic" for about $40. In "Pandemic", it's the players against the disease. It's pretty fun trying to save the world lol. Oh! I don't know much about table top gaming, other than it's a hobby of my husband's and I support whatever nerd stuff he's into. I've played with him occasionally and it's not THAT terrible so when he wants to come here and blow money on Warhammer 40K miniatures, I tag along. The spot isn't big, but there is a wall of comics, and 3 walls of models. The owner is REALLY nice and you can tell that he's knowledgeable and passionate about running this place. He sets up lots of chairs for customers and fans of table top gaming to come in and practice/play. He also has a little table for himself where he works on stuff he's building. He also host learning workshops and tournaments in the shop if you're looking to nerd out with other geeks. The prices are pretty good. They are comparable to Games Workshop if you're looking for model kits, but when it comes to other items like paints and dice I feel like you can buy those online for cheaper. read more

Just popped in really quick to pick up a comic on new release day but may come back in the future to check out other stuff whenever I'm in Hawaii again and on that side of the island. The room was clean and eye appealing. Nothing out of place or any eye sores. Not only that, they had a good collection of comic books and games as well. I recently visited Westside Comics and Games because I happened to be in the area and it was Free Comic Book Day. I expected a humoungous line a few minutes after opening but we appeared to be the first in. The clerk was friendly and helpful and gave us all a free comic book. Right after that the place start filling up so I guess we just beat the rush. The couple right after us was trying to get more then one comic book and wanted to pick what they wanted, no class. The guy had already explained the rules but was given a bunch of "well at other comic book shops...." Those people left with a random free comic book and didnt even try to buy anything. I guess you get all kinds, right? As far as the actual store goes, you can tell its pretty brand new. No old comics - they only sell new ones. I havent bought a comic book in years and asked the clerk if unbagged comics are now how comic books are sold. (In the 90's each copy was bagged and someitmes had a cardboard backing but alas, I guess this isnt how its done anymore). They had a modest selection of table top games and figures. read more

One of my favorite comic book stores, this place is the absolute best. I've become goof friends with all the staff, and I've had nothing but good experiences. They have everything I want and can order what else I need. Ignore the other negative reviews, the service is great, and the casual atmosphere is even better. This place is kid friendly and holds tournaments for everything that gains interest, and the owner Julius is willing to listen to the customers to stock even more. This was the place I learned how to play Magic the Gathering, and I'll be going here for as long as I can. read more

I am very glad that we now have a comic and game store on the west side. But I would still like to see more items in the shop. I am happy about the variety of games ranging from table top figures to deck building games, and I know that the shop is still new, but I just would like to see more. Collectable figures, statues, posters, ect.... But all and all, its a great shop, the employees are very knowlageable and helpful. I Don't feel pressured to buy anything when I visit (and I always buy stuff when I do). And its in a great location. Westside Comics & Games 4 out of 5 stars from me. read more

This place is true to it's name: Comics and Games. I had walked in hoping for a bit more merchandise but you might consider this a specialty shop with a smaller scope of products. There are table-top gaming sets, add-ons and miniatures for said games, and comic books. The unit itself is very small so there isn't any room for fandom merchandise, so I don't exactly blame it on the business itself. In any case, it's a great little go-to spot for people on the west side. My girlfriend is trying to get me into Munchkins but I don't know if I have the time or the means for a committed weekly game like a lot of the shop-goers here do. In any case, if you're looking for people to game with on the west side, you can ask to post a "looking for" notice. In any case, it's a no-frills experience here; very laid back and not at all your formal retail scene. Makes it more comfortable to learn or have games here. Personally, I won't be frequenting very often since I don't purchase comics or any table-top merch. It's great for those who do, however. read more

Walked in not too long ago in search of some new dice and a few board games. Their selection is pretty good, catering towards board games, Magic the Gathering, 40k, and comic lovers. The girl working was very sweet and helpful. They have spaces for 40k battles and various card games. The only downside is that their pricing is a bit steep. A standard box of Exploding kittens was about $35 instead of the $20 that you'd pay if you went to Target or something. So if you're looking for more mainstream games, I'd suggest going elsewhere. read more

Pretty awesome game store. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable on the games he sells. They run leagues for various games and they really try to grow the gaming community. I was feeling a little nastalgic while driving in Kapoli and noticed this nice little comic shop. After walking in and meeting the staff who were very friendly and helpful I decided I wanted to join one of their gaming groups. I haven't gamed in years but I couldn't resist getting back involved. They host all sorts of fantasy games and tournaments from Warhammer,Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. I have had great experiences here and am glad I found it. Ok, so I just moved to the island from Orange County, CA. and I was worried that I was leaving my hobby and passion behind. Then as my wife and I are driving our new town, I see out of the corner of my eye a bright shiny (all-be-it tiny) beacon of geekiness. Westside Comics and Games is the perfect shop. No really! It's clean, the staff is friendly (we even got directions to a great local beach from Damien, one of the staff there)and they have a good spread of games of all kinds. I visit the shop a few times a month to get the gaming supplies I need for myself and my wife to have game nights and to participate in magic pre-release and special event FNM's. I am continually surprised at how the store tries to have something for everyone and continues to try and be competitive with its prices. I've been a customer at their old location in Kapolei and have moved over to the new location in Aiea. It's got twice the area for the gamers, well lite and plenty of rack space for all the latest games and comics. I've started subscriptions with him, although I probably pick up more issues that are not on my subscription list. There's a variety of DC, Marvel and local HI titles. They also have a small section of older issues. If you are a comic collector, his shop is good resource to check out. If you're a gamer, they have the space and have scheduled gaming events, so its good location and he's always knowledgeable about the games, so if there are gamer related products, they may have them. There's decent parking in the location, although there are a number of pretty good eating establishments there, so it could get crowded during meal times, so plan according. They do have a web site , telephone number and do have Facebook presence, so plan accordingly since like many non-essential businesses, will be closed during the health crisis. read more

The owner definitely made my experience one of the best I have ever had. I usually go to Other Realms for my comic needs, (which does have a better selection) but for me to be repeat business I must have a connection with the place considering the type of hobby. This guy is extremely friendly and goes above and beyond. I talked to him for 45mins on starting up 40k. He was very knowledgeable and honest. His female employee and him helped me pick out a good starter kit and the proper paints and tools. They even gave me pointers on smart ways to put them together and paint Technics. The selection is great for miniatures. The store practically has every type of model. When I visited the store had only been open for a week so the comic selection was just the most recent stuff. They will pull comics for you at your request. I am definitely canceling mine at Other Realms and moving my business here. This was my best experience at a comics and games store and I will be returning. I highly recommend this place. read more

My colleague and I were on our way to the vehicle when suddenly we noticed a comic and game store not knowing it existed we decided to check it out. As we set foot into the store, no hello was said and I felt unwelcomed around so many workers who didn't even asked if my colleague and I needed assistance with our browsing. Awkwardly we stood with bubble drink in hand hoping to receive good customer service but none wad given. Only a bye as we walked out with no merchandise in hand. Maybe I will give it another chance but the scar that was left behind from my experience at westside comics will remain a painful one. On another note, I recommend them to have a tv inside maybe playing some medabots or the walking dead... Living it up a bit in there. Hopefully my next visit (if I return) will be a delightful one.
