Need the latest Funko pops, anime or comic book related apparel? BoxLunch is the place! This store is located in UPtown Pearlridge on the 2nd floor. It's a small store jam packed with things up to the ceiling, so look all around. There are a lot of cool items, but they're kind of pricey in my opinion, and not worth it. But there's a way to save money! Order online and pick up at the store. Also, create an account as you get several coupons you can use. I ordered online, and there was a 25% site wide discount plus an extra 10% discount for picking up at the store. Oddly, the website listed my items as all out of stock except medium size with two left. When I got to the store, it had plenty in stock of different sizes too! Perfect! I switched to a Large size, and I was able to cancel my pick up item and get a price match for what I paid online too. Overall, it's a good store to shop around. The items were pretty organized for having so many. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. A quick note: every $10 you spend at BoxLunch, it donates a meal to FeedingAmerica. And apparently, $1 can provide at least ten meals. Ten cents! Better than nothing!

We had a much better visit this time around. I called in yesterday after checking their website hoping they would have more Avatar merch than what was on the website.. I asked for the promo's, it's currently buy 1 get 1 50% off. Welp, we booked it there and found some cute things and more. I'm hoping they get more Mean Girls items, I'd love to buy some. The entrance is blocked and they only allow a certain number into the store since it is a bit small inside. Hand sanitizing didn't seem mandatory but like always we do it when entering and exiting. We were checked upon in store. Finally at the register, the girl was really sweet and could uphold a great conversation. I don't recall signing up the last time I bought something so I was able to this time around and start to receive rewards. Since my purchase was over $30 I got a coupon for my next trip/online. On top of the promo, she asked if I was military, thanks! Unlike my last review, I've been really digging all the character and merchandise they have in store. Cute cute loungefly bags. I would totally rock an Apa, Avatar's bison, if they ever create one. Til my next trip!

I do love that a portion of sales from this arm of Hot Topic goes to feeding people, so it kinda takes some of the guilt away that is a byproduct of living in the consumerific capitalist system we're all oppressed by and required to participate in just to eek out a living while surviving in one of the most expensive places to live... That being said, it's a good place to find things for your own collector/nerdly needs or gifts for that nerdling/collector in your life. The staff at the Pearlridge location is always friendly and helpful. I've never stepped in here without a staff member letting me know the specials or sales they have going on at any given time. During the 'Rona Pandemmie however, the hours have been weird... I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the City regulations and the mall complying. Anyway, I ordered a figure with the Ship To Store option to get around that ridiculous "international" shipping rate Hot Topic/Box Lunch has for Hawaii. The 50th State. Of the same country. Explain to me HOW we're "international" if we're part of the SAME NATION. Hennywayz... I got an email notification to pick it up. The store hours were listed from 10:00am - 9:00pm but when I went to pick it up at the reasonable hour of 8:00pm, LO! they were closed. I was kinda peeved that I schlepped myself down there like a responsible consumer/nerdling/collector but I get it. My issues with it is more about corporate not being ON IT when it comes to disclosure of store hours on their website or their emails. Is it THAT HARD to update the hours of your locations electronically? Idk...

Box Lunch is a novelty shop that sells really cute items like shirts, novelty items, trinkets, Funkos, etc. Think of Animation Magic and the Disney Store combined. Prices aren't too bad. All the items are unique and cool to look at/buy. If your looking for the following, get them here: Marvel, Harry Potter, unique Disney Stuff, Funko, Pusheen.

All my childhood dreams could be in this backpack!

Cuteness is definitely found here along with fun stationeries and lots of hair accessories though this location in the Waimalu Plaza has the load of BT21 items I've ever seen in a single shop for its cozy size. Pink Box and N.Cat do share the same business as you see the sign on this store as well but it was nice to visit here as they do have slightly different merchandise from the other Kaneohe and Ala Moana location and with lots of free parking making it an easy stop to shop for various reasons...lol! They got great deals to bundle for multiple item purchases so if you're grabbing one for you grab one for someone and the service is very helpful if you're looking for a particular character or item. (I needed translation of something written in Korean.) And they didn't kick me out for taking a ton of photos. I expected to pay a lot for the items I chose, but the prices are very reasonable and some, were downright shockingly low!

If you want local snacks, cheap souvenirs, or just a good walk, this is the place to be. Every time I visit, I end up finding something great, but this specific trip was a massive win. I had been on a hunt for coconut apple (the spongy, sweet embryo inside a mature coconut)...I had been to another marketplace, but this was the spot where I found it. I walked stall by stall, asking the vendors. Some gave me a knowing look, and some didn't, but when I found it, I was happy and able to relive my childhood memories of eating this. Between hunting down rare local treats and scoring great deals on shirts, gear, and random finds, you easily get your dollar's worth here. First, this is on base, so you do need base access, but you do not need to have military ID to make a purchase here. Now that the Trusted Traveler program has been reinstated as Honolulu moves into Tier 3, that can make it a little easier for non-military folks to get here if someone can sponsor you in the gate. This place is a more upscale alternative to the kinds of things you might find at the Stadium Swap Meet, ABC Stores, or similar. Great for gifts and home decor, similar to Soha Living. Not quite everything is locally made, but a significant proportion is. They carry a lot of my favorites - Nick Kuchar prints, Coco Moon for baby gifts, Bradley & Lily cards and notebooks, Pura Vida. The prices are what you'd pay anywhere else, and the money goes to support military-affiliated charities. They have some clothing, keiki stuff, holiday decor, jewelry, jams and jellies, kitchen/bar items, gifts. Hours are mostly mornings (9-1 many days), but they are also open Saturdays. They do close during Christmas/New Years, so keep that in mind if you need gifts. Parking is available right out front, and it's never been crowded when I've come.

I was hesitant on posting this review, but unfortunately this certain situation keeps on happening and I am not going to stand for it anymore. Me and my partner frequently go to this shop whenever we are wondering the mall, and almost every time we have gone and shopped, we are almost ALWAYS being watched... it is very disturbing and disappointing seeing that it seems like they are profiling us. Things to note about us: my partner ALWAYS wears small fanny packs, and me, a purse that is closed at all times. We wear casual clothes, and yet, they continue to stare at us, and follow us around the store. Of course, we had NO INTENTIONS of stealing, and yet them watching us makes us feel like criminals. There should not be an excuse of the employees being "too shy" because this is inappropriate behavior, and again, makes me feel very uncomfortable, leading me to my next point. I will no longer shop here again. The amount of times we have caught employees literally WATCHING US is unacceptable, especially since I have previously worked retail myself, and am always frustrated with theft as well, but just choosing random people to watch without any actual ques or a real reason is just disgusting. There are things that you are trained to watch for when you work in retail, and it seems like there is a lack of that. It makes me sad because I loved your products and what you had to offer, but I am sorry, if I can't shop here without being watched like a hawk, then I can just take my business elsewhere. Please train your employees better and train them correctly on watching for theft in the right way. I hope no one else has to experience this. :(
