Charles and Jamie are super funny and nice. There is so much to see in the store. Anything nerd you can think off. They have! I love their mtg and godzilla section.

It's impossible to have too many toys! Hi Collector is a new toy and collectibles store in Honolulu. Passing by one day, I noticed their colorful superhero banner at the parking ramp and decided to check it out. I was a little disappointed to discover they are only open Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, so make note of this when planning your visit! The store is located in the commercial complex along Dillingham near Costco and the Community College. They have free parking on street level, but you'll have to walk up three levels. You're better off using the roof parking ramp at the neighboring building and walking over to the store. When they're open, it's hard to miss! The door is a bright blue and they bring a lot of their wares outside on the lanai. It's a small shop with more merchandise arriving regularly. They have a large selection of action figures and toys, used DVDs, trading cards, comic books and other pop culture collectibles. Don't come looking for anything specific, just see what they have! They have a great selection of Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and other popular characters! Hi Collector is owned by two brothers who share the business. Both are incredibly friendly and happy to have a brick and mortar store after years of just being virtual. They make great use of their space with every inch covered with items. Our first visit there was a hot day, and they provided complimentary drinks for the customers while shopping. Prices are very fair, no need to bargain. It's the type of place you need to return to often if you want to find those knickknacks you can't live without! Happy hunting!

X23 marvel legend

I could not tell you how cool this place was. There was so much stuff you could look at. Once you find something you want, you just find more. But, about every product I wanted was from a range of about 20$-40$ which was a bummer. I was looking forward to buy Colonel Stars and Stripes but I passed on it and got X23. I haven't watched KA2 in a long time so I kinda just forgot about it but I kinda regret skipping on it, not complaining about the X23 though. They also had so much comics that it could cover Alaska, if you want a specific comic, they have it. 11/10 store, wish I could come back.

This store has absolutely everything from comic books, collectibles, MTG/TCG, D&D items and books, Warhammer, and also board games. Honestly if you are into any of those then this place is the place to come to. The absolute widespread level of inventory is only matched by how friendly the staff is and how comfortable of an environment they've created to spend your time there. They even put on events on nearly a daily basis depending what you're into. Pricing is very reasonable and I do majority of my shopping here as it is extremely competitive with online pricing. Not to mention being able to find the product that you're looking for locally is hard to find for most shops. The gameplay areas of the store are clean, tidy, and do not smell (yes... we know the stereotype of hobby shops). Plus they're always willing to spend the time to explain and help you get into any of the games they sell. I haven't played MTG for decades since I was a child and they were so kind to take me thru the differences from what I knew then to the large and vast game that it has become. They also make it simple to sign up on their website for Prerelease events and specialty game nights. I'm so glad to have found a store that has a staff that is passionate about the games as much as its customers. Thank you so much for having such a great shop to keep coming back to.

Real orderly (not surprised) and clean large comic book and other fantasy games. They seem to have alot of employees working and stocking. It seemed like a lot of them may have been lacking in social skills or customer service. Upon entering I stood at the main check out counter and a handful of workers looked up saw me and did not acknowledge me or call somebody to help me and nobody smiled. I was about to walk out feeling I was outside to their realm because essentially I was! Just came by to get a gift card. My visit left me with the impression from my experience as "what are you doing here outsider" or "you can wait we dont need your business" kind of vibe. So anyways nice clean well stocked store but the vibe meh!!

When Jamie W and I heard that Josh Spencer, the owner of LA's legendary Last Bookstore (review:…read morehttps://yelp.to/PBt2J99ygG) had opened a bookstore in Honolulu, we decided to look for it on our recent Oahu adventure. It turned out to be in Downtown close to Chinatown. While it doesn't have the scale of the Last Bookstore, this store shares some of the unique design elements of its SoCal progenitor like curving shelves and large vinyl collection. A broad scan of the books on display reflects titles that seem more avant garde than more commercial curations with sections devoted to science fiction, horror, true crime, and rock music. Jamie found an existential book about his favorite band called "Queen and Philosophy" (Photo 9), while I bought an intriguing manga cosplay history book called "Otaku Japan" (Photo 5). We probably could've spent another hour in here, but we had manapua on our minds. RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://yelp.to/n9JWu5nlzl

I stopped by Skull-Face Books & Vinyl while walking through Chinatown and it quickly stood out as…read moreone of the more unique independent shops in the area. The store blends two cultures that often go hand in hand: underground literature and vinyl records. The space itself feels very curated. Instead of a large commercial bookstore layout, the shop has a smaller, more intentional selection of titles and records that reflect niche interests, counterculture themes, and independent publishing. It feels like a place built for people who enjoy digging through shelves to discover something unexpected. One of the highlights is the mix of books and vinyl. The store carries everything from rare or independent books to records that span multiple genres, which creates an environment where music and literature intersect. Browsing through the collection feels more like exploring a curated archive than a traditional retail store. The atmosphere fits well with the Chinatown neighborhood. Bethel Street has a strong creative and artistic identity, and Skull-Face Books & Vinyl contributes to that scene with its alternative aesthetic and independent spirit. What stood out most to me was how personal the shop feels. Independent stores like this often reflect the personality of the people behind them, and that character comes through clearly in the selection and layout. Overall, Skull-Face Books & Vinyl is a great place to explore if you are in Chinatown and enjoy independent bookstores, vinyl records, and creative spaces that feel a little different from mainstream retail shops.

NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN!!!…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this needs to be documented. At Dragon's Lair in Mililani, my daughter purchased a $15 pin with her own pocket money. It broke after only three or four days due to poor assembly. When she politely returned to ask about a replacement, the owner, Lucas, spoke to her with extreme verbal abuse, profanity, and personal insults until she left in tears. When I addressed the situation calmly, he stated that he did not care that he had made a child cry and continued speaking aggressively. This is not about a refund policy. A business can choose its policy. This is about basic conduct toward a minor and a customer. We have supported this store many times, but after this experience, we will not return. Families in Mililani should know how customers, including little children, may be treated here. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable bringing my child back into this store.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Located in the Mililani Shopping Center. LOTS of parking. Support local businesses.

Profits support the State of Hawai'i's 51 Public Libraries. In more recent years, FLH opened a year-round used bookstore: Village Books and Music, first at the old Pier One, then a terrific space in Ward Centre next to Sedona. Due to the imminent demolition of Ward Center, the establishment shuttered the Ward location on 5/31/26, and will be reopening in mid-July at 610 Ward Ave., a.k.a. "Obama Building." While not as extensive as more famous used bookstores, e.g. NYC's "The Strand" and Portland's "Powell's Books," I thought there was a lot to love about Village Books and Music, where you could find books, but also CDs, vinyl records, games, puzzles, nostalgic Hawai`i memorabilia, and even art. While admittedly not all genres are well-stocked, when I've visited, I was impressed with the poetry section, which is small, but nicely curated, featuring a number of renowned BIPOC poets and local poets: look carefully, and you can find some signed editions in great shape. If you're looking for local Hawai`i writers or Hawaiian/Pacific materials, this store is worth browsing. Thankfully 808 Collectibles had just what I needed, so I made it into a Sunday afternoon adventure to come in. This is a small shop located in a mall building along Kamehameha in Pearl City. It's across from Pearl Highlands Center, but it's easy to get to from either side of the road. They have limited parking in front shared with a small shop, bar, and a few other businesses. This shop is on the second floor, toward the left. The owner Art (Arthur) was super friendly on the phone and got back to me quickly about what I needed. On arrival he was recommending different comic stories to a customer. There was a steady stream of people coming in, so I assume he has some regular customers. Every inch is filled with comics (new and older ones), Funko Pops!, and various collectibles and statues. Prices are clearly marked; he takes cash, Venmo, and credit. If you're a fan of pop culture and other fun things, this is a worthwhile place to stop. I hope to come in again soon.
