I went through the automated system by phone and an appt was scheduled the coming Monday - fast. I don't like automated systems and this system was unlike the others for cable, healthcare, etc., this one actually WORKED on every single thing the first time! I usually have negative sentiment towards a company after using their poorly designed automated system, not this one - I had positive sentiment. I got the text confirmation immediately. In the coming days I received the expected and timely reminder, and "heads-up on the way." David showed up in the arrival time window professionally and wore booties over his boots inside our house. David assessed the error code, confirmed the issue, focused on safety and then gave me the bad news. First, it was going to be expensive - an induction motor replacement. Second, though it was going to be expensive, he didn't recommend I hire him. He thought I'd get better (faster, more efficient, happy) service for my brand of furnace by working with an authorized factory service company, given that it was this particular manufacturer. Apparently, if he called in for part availability, it's a job he certainly can do, that's not the issue, the company would be slow to respond to him because he's not an authorized service company for my brand - YET. He is for another brand, just not mine - YET. This would add friction to the process, to the point of not accepting as credible the assessment (we had a code, mind you) of an experienced HVAC pro. He didn't want me to go through this. It wouldn't make me happy and it's possible it would just delay - without heat in winter - the inevitable of having to go the authorized service route in the end anyway. I will say that using Yelp I found an authorized company I liked. (I called two companies, the first one was in town and a mile away and I was not impressed. The next was a couple cities over and I used them.) I was not charged for the diagnosis. THIS IS LONG TERM THINKING AND TRUE, OLD-SCHOOL CUSTOMER SERVICE! I not only recommend Art of Comfort though I did not have more than the diagnostic piece done, I have saved their number for the future and will share it with friends and neighbors. Our house has two separate furnace / AC systems. I had them installed new in 2006. Something is bound to go wrong after 19 years and I have David and Art of Comfort on speed dial. Thank you David!

Our furnace recently went down and was not blowing hot air, leaving our house less than 60 degrees inside and getting colder. We called the original installer (not Mercury) of the furnace to take a look and see if he could fix it. Couldn't figure out the problem but said he would replace the motor and pressure switches for $2,000 after looking at the unit a bit. He then told us we should consider installing a heat pump, so we decided to get quotes from several companies to install one. Ian was the only that asked us "do you actually want to replace it?" instead of immediately trying to sell us a new unit. Even just speaking with him over the phone for a few minutes, he showed just how knowledgeable he was and what questions we needed to ask the other sales reps. So I waited for Ian to come by and give us his opinion. Within 20 minutes, Ian had CORRECTLY diagnosed the problem and had our furnace back up and running for the first time in over a week. He then showed us everything that was wrong with the original installation of the unit. I found this company based on all the wonderful Yelp reviews to tune up my old gas furnace- something I do every year before the winter season to ensure optimal maintenance. They came out and immediately refused to do the service citing possible asbestos tape. I asked how this was possible when the last 15 years I've gotten service and have even asked the contractors to do a visual inspection of my system. They weren't sure but said that another employee in the area can come look and give me an estimate for a new system. I thought this was shady and it turns out, I was 100% right. They came later that day and quoted me $26K for a new system not including subcontracting to get the asbestos removed (another $1500). I was told and shown pictures that there was evidence of the same tape inside the duct work. I was told I would get these pictures sent to me with along with the estimate but never received any of them. I got someone to come out and test a sample of said material for $100 which did come out positive for asbestos. However the only asbestos that presented any harm was the tape on the outside of the system. There was no asbestos inside but it was recommended that I do more expensive air testing since Perfect Star said I would not be able to use my heater without the asbestos getting released into the air. Not only was this stressful to hear right before the cold weather, but I was very concerned that over the last decade I had inadvertently put my whole families health in danger using this furnace. Meanwhile, Raymond Kinder texted me a few days later to find out if I was going to move forward with the new unit. I told him asbestos removal was my priority. His response via text was "if they remove asbestos, you will not be able to run that furnace as the gases will not be vented out properly." This was not true. After several weeks of not using my heater and exploring other options to deal with a pretend problem they created for me, I went with Air Quality Testing who charged $540 for an air test. $640 later along with having no use of my heater, I learned that there is no asbestos running through my air or ducts. Perfect Star literally lied to me in order to attempt to get me to drop nearly $30,000 on a new system. Stay away from this company! They do not deserve your business for lying to their customers.

Last few years, the ac would sometimes turn on and going into this year, I didn't want to worry. I booked Smart on-line and it was really easy. Michael came by and he checked the current setup and explained what needed to be done to replace the unit. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Granted this was my 4th quote so I knew somethings. He never pressured me to purchase but i decided to pull the trigger to have him do the job. The rate was competitive but it was his knowledge and being personable that I made me feel comfortable to have him do the job. The replacement happened the following week and his team took all day. Michael went above and beyond making sure the job was done right and replaced a wood piece to my attic that he didn't need to do, but he did. Very nice. I talked to Susie at the office and she made sure I was aware of the next steps for the HERS test and city permit visit. She was personalable and said to call her or Michael with any questions.
