The technician from Ampko gave a wrong diagnosis of the problem. I called another technician who fixed the problem in 10 minutes.

This is a dangerous company - DO NOT USE I am an 86 year old woman living in Walnut Creek in August. My a/c broke down. I contacted Home Guard whom I have a policy with. Ampko contacted my son who arranged for a service call. Daniel, the rep spoke with my son and told him he would call after the service. Daniel was in my home for less than three minutes. He did not look in the attic (where the problem ended up being), he did not look at my compressor. He did glance at the thermostat which had the error on it which precipitated my call, but learned nothing more than I had told him over the phone. Daniel then left. He did not contact my son, and ye did not repair the issue. He has left an elderly woman without a/c during the hottest period of the year. If he had called my son as he promised he would, we would have told him we would pay out of pocket. I now cannot get Daniel or the office to return my calls. The service I have received is appalling and dangerous, and I am now in a very hot home which is a real danger for someone my age. I am making a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I do not recommend - this company is unreliable and unreachable by telephone. read more

After realizing that the first person I had my warranty bring out did not fix my AC issues, I contacted my warranty yet again and they sent these guys out. The guy was a half hour late to his appointment. And when he came in he took pictures and did everything I thought that would help me solve my issue. However after he left I didn't hear anything for an entire week during the hottest period of the summer. Only to find out a week later that they submitted with my warranty that they can't service my equipment. Why even bother with the charades if you weren't going to help me?!! read more

Ampko was referred by home warranty service. Excellent service, on time, effective and friendly. Fixed my problem rapidly.

Ampko replied to my home warranty request. Heater/AC display/system was not powering on. I'm a new homeowner. They were not able to fix it and were going to refer my claim to an electrician instead. Fidelity Home Warranty read the report from Ampko stating my property was unlivable and a construction zone. We had the carpets ripped out and were painting the walls = "construction zone" We had a non-home warranty affiliated HVAC come out. They flipped a light switch in the hallway that was an emergency cutoff to the heater/ac located in the attic. Literally they flipped a switch and sent me a picture with an index finger pointing to said switch near the heater/ac control panel in the hallway. In plain view. Right there.... 2 minutes... Our house has a very complex/confusing and dated light switch/button thing going on from the 60's. Was high tech at the time. We had no idea what buttons do what and they figured it out in a few minutes. Shame on Ampko for filling a false report and most of all not fixing a 2 minute problem. read more

Ampko Heating Air Conditioning - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me

My air conditioner system was not cooling the entire house. Company was sent via home warrenty and within minutes he said job required several people to do job. He didn't want to give any explanation so I asked if he could write it down, answer was no. He would send info to warrenty company. Needless to say no or lack of information was given. Another company did complete the job and we are happy. read more

Didn't even diagnose the problem. Didn't physically inspect the furnace, hemmed and hawed at getting into the attic. Got us charged by the home warranty company anyway. Wasn't particularly kind or service oriented. There are much better out there! read more

Daniel was the only one who could fix our leaking Hvac last year after three other companies had tried without success. He takes his time and is very methodical and thorough. He is extremely knowledgeable and likes to explain everything going into almost scientific detail. I was astonished when he actually fixed the problem and we haven't had a problem since. Thank you Daniel! (I just wish you were available on the weekend but understand that you need a break ;) read more

After having IRBIS replace a faulty thermostat - which they felt was the problem for my heater not working - and it STILL didn't get fixed, Daniel from AMPKO came out and identified the problem in just a few minutes. He not only fixed the heater, but the Air Conditioner that wasn't correctly hooked up to the new thermostat as well! I am extremely appreciative and think Daniel is awesome. read more

Had Ampko come out through our home warranty service after having 2 different consults with AC/Heating companies. Daniel was so thorough and honest about what was actually going on with our AC unit. He took the time to clean out our AC and give me instructions on how to improve the quality of our current unit instead of trying to sell me on a new one, even after I told him that we were willing to buy a new unit out of our own pockets. I appreciate his help in saving us the cost of an unnecessary new purchase. Thank you so much. read more

The heater at our house went out in the middle of December, and we called Ampko to have someone come out and take a look at it. They said that someone would come out the next morning between 9-11 am to look at it. At 12:30 I finally go ahold of someone who said that they couldn't make it out today and asked to come out tomorrow between 9-11am. I said "fine, whatever". So naturally "Daniel" didn't show up the next day until 1 pm (without a courtesy call or anything). He took a look at the heater, told me that the valve was cracked and that the heater was so old that I needed a new one. He said that they could replace it in about 4-5 days, gave me a quote for $$$$. Since they'd given me the runaround so much, I sought out a second opinion through someone higher rated on Yelp (which I should've done in the first place). They showed up the next day promptly at 10 am (when he said he'd be there), told me that it was definitely repairable, drove back to his shop to get the necessary part and had it fixed by 3 pm, all for only $ instead of Ampko's $$$$. Anywhere but this place. read more

I was having problems with the fan staying on after the heater was turned off. I called my warranty company, Fidelity National. I was connected with Amphko who came out the very next day. Daniel was the gentleman who arrived. He quickly assessed my issue and resolved it 30 minutes. Daniel was prompt, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. I would definitely use this company again. read more

The owner Daniel was very informative and spent a little over an hour with us giving great tips and educating us with our AC system. I was quite surprised to receive a call for an appointment a day after submitting my request of service with my home warranty and on a Sunday for that matter! Im very pleased with the service and would def recommend and will always request him from my home warranty if in need a service in the future. Thanks Daniel you are awesome! read more

It never fails! It's 98 degrees out. We turn the unit on for the first time all year and guess what, it won't come on. Go figure! We called Ampko Heating Air conditioning on Sunday evening and were told to expect a call the following morning. True to their word, they called us back the following morning to set up an appointment. Due to the heat over the weekend, there were many people in the same situation as we found ourselves. We had to wait four days for our scheduled appointment. Brian was our technician for our call. He called us when he was ten minutes away, so we knew when to expect him. He was friendly, professional and was quickly able to diagnose the source of our problem. It was determined that a mouse had chewed through some of the wires on the outside of our home by the AC unit. He wrapped the wires and took extra measures to help us ensure any unwanted critters could not wreak havoc on our unit in the future. I really appreciated how knowledgeable he was. He even remembered to the last detail servicing our unit two years ago when we purchased the home. Hands down, this company and technician receive two thumbs up in our book! read more

Had a really awesome experience with this company. Ampko Heating and Air was called by my warranty company and Daniel came out same day and fixed my a/c problem very quickly. He was very knowledgeable and explained exactly what he was doing along the way. Would highly recommend. read more

This guy is knowledgeable about HVAC, but there are many downsides. He NEVER shows up when he says he will. He treats you as if you are stupid for not understanding what is wrong with the heater or air conditioning unit. Overall, he has no customer service skills. I was having work completed via a home warranty, so he felt the need to tell me that he does not consider me his customer (even though I pay a service fee for him to come out). He said the warranty company is his customer. 1) Rude to say even if you feel that way and 2) I am also the customer - there are TWO customers in this case!! I would recommend you look for someone else who would be happy to have your business! read more

What a disappointing turn of events: I initially contacted "AMPCO" approximately 2 years ago and Daniel provided not only useful information about what could be done to improve the filtrate to an higher end for the AC and Heating system and he personally came out and analyzed the Unit and eventually sent a very competent Tech to perform the installation. However, since then I became interested in a Tankless Water Heater, albeit, I spoke to Daniel no less than 3-times and was told every time that he hasn't forgot about me, but he never called! One year had passed and I was in need of an uncommon filter that they'd installed and although I called Daniel and requested a replacement filter and received his acknowledgment that they would schedule an appointment, he (they) never did and that unfortunate circumstance is only my fault for having allowed them a second chance after the aforementioned default. I left them a voice-mail... don't return. To say the least, they're unreliable and it's my conjecture that I am too far out (Brentwood), if so, why say that you provide service to that area? Hideous. read more

Daniel (owner) came out from Ampko via Fidelity Home Warranty. Diagnosed furnace malfunction and even showed me how I might fix myself if same circumstances occurred again. Great service! read more

Our air conditioning fan failed on 7/6 - holiday weekend - ugh. Called our home warranty service department and they made arrangements for Ampko to call us back on Monday. The following morning a technician (Brian) called. We were not home, but he said he would be able to come out when we arrived around 4pm that same day - hurray! He call when he was on his way and arrived right after we got home. He was pleasant, very knowledgeable and thorough starting with the thermostat then the furnace and finally the air compressor unit. He diagnosed and fixed the problem within a half hour. We were very pleased that he checked everything to make sure it was all operational and working efficiently. It was a very pleasant experience. We don't look forward to our air conditioner going out again, but if it does we would look forward to doing business with Brian at Ampko again. read more

We had Ampko Heating and Air come out through our home warranty and Brian the tech came out and he was very professional and knowledgeable of what was happening with our furnace, he checked it our thoughly ordered our parts and came back out in a timely manner and replaced the needed parts. Ampko has been top-notch in its service, reliability, and promptness. On their first visit, they found that the heater's water pump had broken; they didn't have a replacement pump in stock, so they ordered it for us, and had the part the very next day at noon. Daniel and his colleague returned straight away to install it. Another problem with the heater arose a couple of months following the first, and it was another smooth and quick transaction. My insurance company connected me with Ampko, and Daniel from Ampko has called to set up appointments in a timely fashion and telephones en route about twenty minutes before dropping by the house. He is thorough and descriptive about his repairs, and seems happy to discuss matters thoroughly with clients. Couldn't ask for more from a repair company! read more

I have used Ampko through my home warranty company twice and both times Daniel solved our HVAC issue quickly and efficiently. I would recommend Ampko to anyone that asks. read more

Daniel did not only rewire both of our thermostats (even though, originally, we only talked about one) -- he went above and beyond to help us gain a better understanding of how various components of the HVAC system in the house work. He was very patient and professional, as he answered all of our questions and made sure that the two zones work as they should. He also provided a wealth of valuable information on how we can get the most out of our heating and air conditioning equipment and made suggestions for steps we can take to further reduce our heating/AC costs. read more

I was very pleased with Ampko. I was referred by my home warranty company. It's hit or miss with those vendors, usually miss, but I kept an open mind and am glad I did. I found them to be punctual, responsive and very professional. I didn't see any of the arrogance that others experienced. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. read more

Ampko Heating and Air Conditioning of Concord, CA is an outstanding company! Due to the hot summer we've had, our air conditioner broke! AMPKO responded to our service call very promptly! Their communication was clear and responsive from the first call to their follow up! They fit us in during evening hours to reduce our wait time. The repairs were explained and completed with efficiency. Dan also explained how we can keep our unit running efficiently for the future. Very knowledgeable and friendly! They provided excellent customer service over all! read more

This company came out and did home warranty work on my air conditioning system. Daniel service tech is very RUDE and unprofessional does shoddy work and the company will not stand behind its servicing. I asked them to come back and look at my A /C unit (even though past 30 day warranty) and the service Tech Daniel said he would call me back the following week to make an apt. (in which I was willing to pay the $85 for him to come out) but he never called me back. I then called him back the following week and he stated that he just wasn't going to come out and service my unit. I've never dealt with such an unprofessional and unresponsive company. All I can say is please do your research and check this businesses references before hiring them to do any Heat and A/C work. I would NEVER REFER THEM. Daniel won't call you back anyway so it doesn't even matter so my non-referral is not needed. He loses business on his own. Beware my fellow consumers! read more

This should be 0 stars. We had to go through this company for our home warranty, our heater went out and we had to wait a week and a half for an appointment. They said they would be here between 4-8 . in my opinion 8 is a little late to be showing up at someone's house to work on a heater. I stayed home waiting, called my landlord a few times to see if he heard Anything from them, and he said no, finally at 8:15 pm my landlord text and said he got a hold of "Brian" and that they were at our house, I said he must be at someone else's house, he's not here. Then He calls my landlord and says he is in Oakley, he could be At my house soon, I said no, it's too late, I am not opening the door for anyone at 8:30 at night. We called the home insurance and requested a different company that's reliable and honest, hopefully that's what we will get . If this company doesn't want to do warranty work, by the reviews it seems they don't, then don't do it, it's that simple, if get do decide to stay with it, do what you say you're going to do. And maybe change the hours, who wants some stranger coming to their house at night? read more

JUST had Dan and his trusty sidekick come out to our home in Oakley on behalf of the Home Warranty company. As renter's, our home came with very limited instructions. As an asthmatic with high blood pressure who works remotely; just imagine how difficult it is to breathe when the heat waves come along with allergy season and a faulty thermostat that drives you quietly insane with it's lack of cooperation. We were literally at our wits end during this last heat wave. We are so incredibly grateful to Dan for his patience with us today; along with never missing a beat while our 7 year old sang in the background at the top of her lungs; loudly and off key. Dan took the time to explain in detail (I took notes); best practices and approaches for optimizing performance on our A/C unit, ceiling fans, vents and thermostat, but equally important how to keep that PG&E bill down to a manageable level. Whatever was wrong with our thermostat - Dan immediately had it changed out and painstakingly explained EVERY button on the new one; programmed it to my preferences; changed our filter, cleaned off our unit, added coolant and taught us how to set our ceiling fan blades to disburse air throughout the rooms. Our family couldn't be happier. Dan has been in business since 1980 and we can see why. Try not being able to breathe one day ... and then call Dan from Ampko - you'll be singing right along with our 7 year old...JUST BREATHE.... read more

I came home last night to a malfunctioning AC unit (right as temperatures were predicted to climb, of course!) I called my home warrantee company first thing this am, and they assigned AMPKO to come take a look at it. I agree with all the 5-star reviews listed here on Daniel. He reached out to me at the end of his day, and said an appointment had cancelled, he was in the area, and could he come over right then (he was literally 1 or 2 min away at the time) Daniel was able to diagnose and fix the problem within maybe 15 minutes, but he took extra time to share with me the "tips" and education on AC that other reviewers have also experienced. I feel MUCH more informed on many of the aspects of my AC system, and now have the knowledge to make educated decisions going forward (re: maintenance of current AC system or purchase of a newer one in the future, when that time comes) As a single gal, that means more than words can describe! I was so impressed with Daniel (his extensive knowledge, his selflessly offering to fit me in last minute at the end of his day, his sensibility, and his no-nonsense / straight talk) Warrantee or not, I will ALWAYS contact Daniel at AMPKO for any future Heating and AC needs that arise. ~ One VERY satisfied customer read more

Called my home warranty co on Saturday the 29th. They sent me to AMPKO. Left 3 messages that day. They showed up the next day to figure out what was wrong. I had to call the warranty company on Tuesday to get them to call him so they could order the part. The part was reported to have been delievered to the warehouse Friday and he would be installing it Monday. He called and cancelled 30 minutes before my appointment because he said the part wasn't in. I was called 2 hours later to say the part WAS now in and he was just too over booked to put it in anytime soon. Now it is Wednesday the 10th and they were suppose to be here at 9:30. So far I haven't seen them. My original call was an emergency because we are in a heat wave and I have 3 kids in the home. At the same time, 3 of my neighbor's AC went out and all were fixed in less then 3 days. This is not a company I will ever use again, especially in case of an emergency. It seems the bottom line means more than the customer. If you cannot give acceptable service in a timely manner because you are over booked, you should let the warranty company know that. read more

In theory, repairing an AC shouldn't have been a priority at the end of December, but it being non-operational for the past two summers made it a priority to not want to go through yet another sweltering summer in Concord....and you tend to forget how hot it gets once the temps starting dropping...hence the delay in repair. But, I digress as I'm writing this to give kudos to both Brian and Daniel for their very professional demeanor and dedication to getting the job done. After having several (seriously, I lost count) HVAC contractors trek out to my place (if they even bothered to show up, that is) over the last two summers and each one espouse their theory as to what the matter can be, Brian gave his thorough and logical opinion and we proceeded with scheduling the job. It took 2.75 visits (that is: 2-days of a few hours each visit plus a little over an hour the final day) to complete the job. I'm pleased with the level of work they did, and again, they are two very pleasant individuals to work with. Thanks, guys! read more
