We had our AC stop cooling in the middle of a hot day, and with two young kids and a dog at home, we were pretty stressed. Keon Garcia came out and did an outstanding job. What I appreciated most was that he didn't just start replacing parts. He thoroughly diagnosed the system, explained what he was testing, and walked me through the results. He showed me that the capacitor was testing low, the contactor was worn and pitted, and even performed a megger test on the compressor to verify it was still healthy. After the repairs, he confirmed everything was working properly by showing me the compressor amperage had dropped back to normal and that the system had an 18-degree temperature split. Keon was patient with all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. He explained the pros and cons of the recommended repairs, including the hard-start kit, so I could make an informed decision instead of feeling pressured. I really appreciated his transparency and professionalism. By the time he was done, our AC was cooling properly again, and he even worked with us on the final price. If you're looking for an HVAC technician who is knowledgeable, honest, thorough, and takes the time to educate his customers, I highly recommend Keon Garcia. Thanks again for getting our family cool again! read more

Alternated telling me he wasn't a sales man and didn't want to pressure me, and pressuring me to sign that day. Forced some sales video on me and acted shocked and hurt that I didn't find it valuable. Called when I didn't respond to the bid and when I told him I went elsewhere because he was pressuring, said "I thought we had a connection" read more

The response is appreciated but it is inaccurate. There isn't a Comfort Shield warranty in place - it is the factory Lennox warranty as Lennox stated to me. Further, you should be upfront with customers rather than obstinately explaining your fees. read more

Words can't express how professional, patient and flexible the people in this company are! We recently bought a home with an ancient HVAC system that needed an update before we could even move in. Perfect Star came to the rescue and was able to get us an appointment quickly. Nestor and Brandon set everything up quickly but thoroughly. They even walked me through setting up my thermostats on my smartphone! Overall, they were easy to work with and honestly, their pricing can't be beat for the quality of service that they provide. You won't regret giving these guys a call. read more

This company is a scam. Do yourself a favor and go with another contractor you can trust who will not try to lie to you to get your business. I found this company based on all the wonderful Yelp reviews to tune up my old gas furnace- something I do every year before the winter season to ensure optimal maintenance. They came out and immediately refused to do the service citing possible asbestos tape. I asked how this was possible when the last 15 years I've gotten service and have even asked the contractors to do a visual inspection of my system. They weren't sure but said that another employee in the area can come look and give me an estimate for a new system. I thought this was shady and it turns out, I was 100% right. They came later that day and quoted me $26K for a new system not including subcontracting to get the asbestos removed (another $1500). I was told and shown pictures that there was evidence of the same tape inside the duct work. I was told I would get these pictures sent to me with along with the estimate but never received any of them. I got someone to come out and test a sample of said material for $100 which did come out positive for asbestos. However the only asbestos that presented any harm was the tape on the outside of the system. There was no asbestos inside but it was recommended that I do more expensive air testing since Perfect Star said I would not be able to use my heater without the asbestos getting released into the air. Not only was this stressful to hear right before the cold weather, but I was very concerned that over the last decade I had inadvertently put my whole families health in danger using this furnace. Meanwhile, Raymond Kinder texted me a few days later to find out if I was going to move forward with the new unit. I told him asbestos removal was my priority. His response via text was "if they remove asbestos, you will not be able to run that furnace as the gases will not be vented out properly." This was not true. After several weeks of not using my heater and exploring other options to deal with a pretend problem they created for me, I went with Air Quality Testing who charged $540 for an air test. $640 later along with having no use of my heater, I learned that there is no asbestos running through my air or ducts. Perfect Star literally lied to me in order to attempt to get me to drop nearly $30,000 on a new system. Stay away from this company! They do not deserve your business for lying to their customers. read more

Overcharged for a Simple Repair -- Misleading Invoice Description We've used Perfect Star for several years, including a furnace replacement and other service calls. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was extremely disappointing. Our AC stopped working on a Saturday, and we agreed to the $210 weekend diagnostic fee. The technician arrived, opened the side access panel, and the AC started immediately. The issue was a clogged float switch. He vacuumed the condensate drain and performed basic checks. No parts were replaced, and the entire visit took about 45 minutes. The invoice listed a $431 charge for "Clean Condensate Drain," and the service description claimed the technician also "cleaned the evaporator coil." In reality, he only wiped moisture from the coil area after opening the front panel. No coil cleaner was used, no debris was removed, and no actual coil cleaning was performed. This was not requested and was not a real coil cleaning by any industry standard. The technician also offered to reduce the price if we signed up for a monthly membership, which made the pricing feel more like a sales tactic than a reflection of the work performed. We contacted Perfect Star to request clarification. After more than a week of internal review, they declined to make any adjustment. Their explanation focused on flat‑rate pricing and general maintenance recommendations, but did not justify why a basic drain cleaning -- combined with wiping moisture -- was billed at $431. We've had previous issues with workmanship (including an unglued PVC condensate line that caused crawlspace water), and this experience unfortunately confirmed that we need to look for a different HVAC company moving forward. read more

Look at the pictures and see the kind of job this company does - judge the quality for yourself. Not surprised given how rushed they were and the mess they left. I also had to repair my house's exterior crawl space vent because they left a gaping hole in it This company is so huge and drowns bad reviews out with other questionable reviews and tons of advertising. Stay away. Edit: Since they responded asking why after 2 years, it's because I finally had enough of issue after issue. I added a picture of a valve they never properly installed (not subjective, look at the picture there's no blue adhesive on it like the one next to it) - since it was just lightly placed on it fell off and the water made a mess Again, don't take my word for it - look at the pictures and judge for yourself read more

Set up a visit in June 2026 and Anthony came out to check out issue. Not only was he able to quickly assess the issue, he quickly replaced the lighting units and everything looks amazing. He cleaned up all the debris afterwards and waa able to explain what else would be helpful to do. I used them for kitchen lighting and plan to do more with Perfect Star. They will also handle my AC maintenance in the future. Thank you for doing such high quality work at a fair price, quickly, and with awesome service. read more

Although my initial emails and phone calls did not make it to the right levels of leadership, Perfect Star leadership closely monitors their online reviews like Yelp and promptly reached out to learn more about my experience to see how they can improve and how they can make things right per their Perfect Star Guarantees. Wonderful experience so far. Our heater stopped working and our house was 50 degrees. Perfect Star came out the same day and fixed it within minutes. It turns out a sensor just needed to be cleaned. I know this sounds like a small thing, but in the past two years we have paid a different company a lot of money to replace parts and duct work to try and get the system to work better. Unfortunately, the system has only gotten worse. Every time the other company came out, they were always focused on us replacing expensive parts. Perfect star is the first and only company that took the time to show me and explain what was going on. They suggested a maintenance plan to clean the unit and avoid problems like this. Hallelujah!! Finally someone is making some sense. After they cleaned the sensor, our heater is working better than it has in years! read more

i have an ancient propane gas furnace (circa 1990) which was malfunctioning. It was blowing cold air while set to "heat". An appointment was set for 16:00 to 18:00. Preston arrived a quarter after and went straight to work, testing the leads, checking the thermostat, making sure the electricity worked and so forth. Then after the furnace was reset, it worked. Apparently the many brownouts we get in Oakley did something to the circuit board and it works now. Very professional and knowledgeable. (thumbs up) read more

Trust the one stars. Terrible. Hands down worst experience I've had as a homeowner. Had them replace my old HVAC system with a heat pump. big job, not cheap. got multiple quotes, theirs was the lowest-and now I know why. * Straight up LIED to me about cost of service. If you get Gilbert as a salesperson, walk away. Poked his head into my attic, promised he knew what was happening. Got my quote, signed the papers. * The team arrives to install and then says "hey, it doesn't work the way Gilbert thought it did. It's 20% more." 20% more on an HVAC system is A LOT. But we needed the system (young family, burning up in the heat), and they already TOOK THE OLD SYSTEM APART. So we were stuck and just went with it. * felt like robbery. intentionally low quote to underbid/beat competition, took my existing system apart, then threw up their hands and said "20% more or walk." What's more: THEY COULDN'T GET IT RIGHT. They came back (no exaggeration, I have the appointment emails) 10 TIMES in a 2 MONTH PERIOD because THEY COULDN'T GET IT RIGHT. System DIDN'T WORK out of the damn box for this or that reason. I had a revolving door of techs come through to look at it, try some bs and not fix it. Other reviewers are right: the techs are all "nice guys," but when you can't fix the effing system YOU INSTALLED that's BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX then I don't care how nice you are. They also installed an ugly ass line cover that runs on the outside of my house up to the attic WITHOUT ASKING ME. on one of 10 visits they just decided to do it and put it up without asking. desperate to find any solution that will work. shouldn't make changes to the EXTERIOR of my house without asking. lastly: you can't get a hold of anyone in the damn office. receptionists are all "nice" but when you need help with something specific, they are ghosts. Couldn't get a hold of "Janet" to wrap up permitting if my life depended on it (calling 3 per day). but you better believe they will call you EVERY DAY if there's some payment thing to sort out. this has been a long time coming. the thing that put me over the edge: assholes TEXTING ME ASKING ME TO GIVE THEM A VOTE AS BEST IN THE BAY FOR SFGATE. this company is a joke. the only reason they are even getting business is the relentless mailers they put out AND the lying on bids. easy to "beat the competition" when you undercut everyone on paper, then jack up rates when the chips are down. SAVE YOURSELF, good people. throw away their "deals." read more

I am so happy we chose Perfect Star to install a new HVAC system. From start to finish, this company is top notch. The sales person, Gilbert, was honest, trustworthy friendly and professional. His quote was competitive and fair. When the team arrive to install the new system, they were absolutely the most professional team we have ever employed for construction type work. The technicians were Jesus G, JT and Tyler. Each one was outstanding. They were knowledgeable, detailed, respectful of our house, and polite. They cleaned up everything after they finished, ensuring the house was returned to its original state. We received estimates from five HVAC companies. The Perfect Star rep Gilbert gave us confidence in the company's ability to deliver excellent service. He offered a great package, and we wanted to support a local business. They donate to many local charities, and that was a big plus too. I highly recommend Perfect Star. read more

The only reason this isn't one star is because everyone I spoke to was kind and professional. The pricing and unwillingness to provide an invoice showing both parts and labor is what led to this review. "we use straightforward pricing--meaning the cost we provide includes both parts and labor as one flat rate, with no separate breakdowns" That is both a lack of transparency and blatant robbery. $115 to come look at the unit. Emailed quote: $950 to replace the solenoid but verbally quoted my husband $1500. The pricing fluctuates but don't worry, it's always outrageous. I fixed it myself for $100. read more

Unfortunately, this has been a very disappointing experience. We have paid for two separate service visits to fix our AC and heater on both upstairs and downstairs. Both times, only the upstairs was fixed, leaving the same issue unresolved despite full payment. When I tried to explain this, the technician was dismissive and closed the door and left while I was still speaking, which was extremely unprofessional. When I called the office, the representative was initially understanding. However, once I said that my concern should be shared with a manager or supervisor, her tone changed and I was accused of being rude, instead of being helped. A professional company should be able to handle dissatisfied customers with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. We paid twice for services that were never fully completed. I would not recommend this company. Brentwood, Ca( contra costa) read more

I had an amazing experience with Perfect Star Heating, Cooling, & Electrical. Elvin: Met with me to go over my HVAC options and broke down the pros and cons of the different systems. Elvin was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and was very accommodating when I had an appointment overlap. Austin, Tyler, & Cesar: They were an amazing team. My installation window was from 8-10am and they arrived at 8:03am. They introduced themselves and got straight to work. I had a few questions throughout the process and Austin, while working hard, answered every single one. They were thorough and careful moving everything around while removing the old system and installing the new one. Austin even build a base for the unit because it came with a cabinet for the filter, which was amazing because the old way of changing my filter was a pain! Elvin also showed up to check in and make sure everything was going to plan. Not sure which one of the team did it but there was a mouse inside of a trap in my attic. They were kind enough to dispose of it for me which I give them many thanks for because I have a fear of heights and mice! Thank you to this entire team. I have to update my original review. The team and technician are friendly and professional. However, I shouldn't have hired them because they don't work on wall heaters. The 3rd contractor who came and looked at the issue said the thermostat needed to be replaced. So, I hired Perfect Star to do that. (4th contractor) But, it stopped working a week later. Perfect Star is really perfect. After their servicing of my furnace, I can understand why they have such high ratings on Yelp. Their receptionist was warm, friendly and professional. They were able to come out quickly on the same day I called -- which was a pleasant surprise given most companies have a long wait time for appointments. Their technician was honest and did not try to up-sell me by saying my furnace needs major repairs. He did the necessary work quickly and professionally. We were lucky to find Perfect Star on Yelp last year and this year Anthony came to check our AC and it was time to replace the AC/Furnace. They were able to send Dylan over to show us our options same day. We let them know what budget we were working with and they really helped us get the best option for us. We are so happy with the service we receive with Perfect Star each time. They are a family owned company and you feel like family when you work with them! We were able to get our new AC/Furnace, air scrubber, and water heater in one full day of work just two days after our original tune up! Austin Crandall and his team (Tyler, Cesar, and Juan) were all skilled professionals. We couldn't believe the quality of the workmanship and the equipment they installed in just one day of work. We hired Perfect Star to add an AC unit to our existing furnace, which was in great condition. However, they convinced us to replace the furnace as well and pay additional costs for a new unit and labor, claiming removal was necessary anyway for the AC installation. On installation day, they delivered and installed a different AC unit than what we had agreed upon, stating the original unit was "discontinued." After consulting an independent HVAC expert, we confirmed the agreed-upon unit was not discontinued and demanded they replace it with what was promised and paid for (dishonesty). Towards the end of installation, their team lead informed us he had fired the two installers because they had started their own company and some conflict of interest. Shortly after, the team lead stopped answering our calls entirely. We later learned from Chris that our point of contact had left the company without notifying us (Poor customer service). Chris eventually brought the correct AC unit. When we raised concerns about the new system being louder than our previous one, he provided vague explanations about air collection placement, something like they should have changed the location, but offered no solutions (poor work). Despite replacing a fully functional furnace, they left the old filter housing in place, making it nearly impossible to find compatible filters. Months ago, we contacted Chris to replace the filter; he quoted $95 but ignored the message, and never followed up to schedule the work (poo customer service). In February, we discovered that one of the pipes (could not air intake or exhaust) had become disconnected in our dedicated furnace closet. There was no external cause for this. Had it been the exhaust pipe, it could have resulted in carbon monoxide exposure and a life-threatening situation. We messaged Chris, who ignored us again. When we called the company expressing urgency, they said they would send someone "right away" but did not send anyone until the following day. In the meantime, we had to hire a third party to confirm it was the air intake and not the exhaust before their technician arrived. We tolerated the cold with their delayed response (horrible customer service) Recently, we paid $115 (not the originally quoted $95) to have them change the filter - and we provided the exact filter they had recommended too. After the technician left, we discovered the filter did not cover the entire housing opening. We messaged the technician, but he ignored us as well. Overall, our experience with Perfect Star has been consistently negative, marked by poor workmanship, dishonest upselling, and unprofessional, unresponsive customer service. We have spent additional time and money consulting other professionals to verify or fix their work. We absolutely do not recommend this company. read more

Our experience with Perfect Star was very poor when we renovated our house. We had a licensed HVAC engineer review the initial quotes. The suggested furnace was oversized for our house and it seemed that Perfect Star had this furnace at hand and wanted to install it not because it was the best choice for our house but because they had it available. Perfect Star actually recognized that the furnace was wrong for our house after an internal review. We had an air intake duct that was perfectly cut into our floor. Perfect Star told us we would need a bigger intake and cut a hole in the floor with an ugly grid. We pushed back and then learned that the intake was big enough after they ran a few more calculations. Our HVAC engineer also designed the ducts. The Perfect Star crew did not install the ducts according to his specifications with the result that one part of our house does not get enough airflow and stays cold in winter. We have to have a radiator in that room. I've asked multiple times to correct this and have been told that an inspector would need to come out for $115. We had a BESO consultant come out as that's required by the city and she looked at the ductwork and insulation and let it pass but gave it a B. Some ducts were squeezed into places that might impact airflow. Prior to install, we had the asbestos pipes removed by a service we chose. They did not remove the asbestos from the actual ducts (this is a 1924 house) and the Perfect Star crew that came to install the system saw it and still installed the ducts without telling us. A bunch of Asbestos dust fell into the ducts. It took a lot of phone calls for them to stop the install and have the asbestos company come back to fix it so they could do a SAFE install for everybody involved incl. their own crew who were actually scared working on it. I think if we didn't have our own HVAC expert who knew how to design a proper system for our house, we would have ended up with a furnace too big and too loud but probably never thought about it and taken it as a given. read more
