Worth Every Penny After being without A/C for three weeks, I was dreading the call. I had heard plenty of horror stories about HVAC companies, and I was hesitant when I learned there was a fee just to have a technician come out and evaluate the system. But it was absolutely worth it. Peter was fantastic--professional, thorough, and honest. He carefully checked the system, made the needed repair, and corrected a part that had been installed incorrectly. I was convinced we were looking at a $5,000 to $15,000 compressor replacement, so I was incredibly relieved when the total came to under $300. We now have cold air again, and I could not be happier with the service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs an HVAC company they can trust. read more

ACS is great to work with. Ronnie is one of the managers and is the man at just simply getting things done. We have worked with ACS on a few installs of entire units in the last ten years and they have overcome challenges in each one with great final results. Thank you for great experiences. read more

ACS did a perfect job. They did not oversell. They said our duction could only handle a 2 ton system even though replacing the 3.5 ton would have made them more money. Good clean honest work. read more

Lucky enough to have the owner Joe for the expeditious cost effective repair and service to an A/C system in a rental where the tenant family was sweltering from the heat. Very knowledgeable to quickly find and explain and effect a repair. Several other A/C companies would only come back some other day (or weeks in one case) on high open ended quotes to diagnose and repair, along with high pressure tactics to sell me extra services and a new air conditioner. read more

Huge thank you to Dan and ACS! Our furnace unexpectedly stopped working. ACS had a tech out the same day (which was completely unexpected!!) and Dan diagnosed the problem as a faulty igniter in about 5 min. Had a spare in the truck and within maybe 30 min we had heat again! HUGE thank you to Dan and ACS!! read more

ACS Air Conditioning Systems. I called in for a non operational air conditioning unit. Joseph came out the next morning and within minutes of me describing the condition, knew exactly what had failed. He performed some diagnostic trouble shooting and verified the bad contactor and blown fuse. He had me up and running with in minutes. I will definitely uses ACS again. I had previously used ACS back in 2017 for a separate issue and was very pleased too. Joseph knows his business, plus a really nice guy. Will recommend and use again. Kevin Walnut Creek read more

Purchased a Carrier furnace from ACS in 2012. On Tuesday, my system would not turn on. Called ACS Tuesday evening and spoke with Joe, who was very knowledgeable and helpful. After several minutes, Joe was able to narrow down my issue to a likely faulty condensation pump. He scheduled a technician for the next day, Wednesday at a price of $85.00 for the appointment. On Wednesday, Caesar came to the house within the scheduled window. After a short period of time, Caesar confirmed what Joe had suspected, that the condensation pump was shot and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, Caesar did not have a pump with him, but was able to quote me a price of $311.00 for the pump and installation. At that time I asked if ACS would install the new pump if I was able to supply it. He spoke to the office, which confirmed that they would install my pump at a labor cost of $105.00. I was able to find the exact pump at my local ACE Hardware for $65.00 (so yes, ACS was charging me $206.00, $141.00 more than I paid for it). Now I understand markup, as ACS needs to make money, but a 217% markup is highway robbery. Regardless, Caesar told me to call ACS as soon as I was able to purchase the pump, and the office would schedule Jose to come by and install the pump between 1-4:00pm that same day. So, given the high temperature and the fact that my wife has MS and the heat wreaks havoc on her body, I dropped everything to go purchase the pump, which I did before 11:00am. I then called ACS, as instructed, which confirmed that Jose would install the pump and my AC would be up and running by 4:00pm. At 2:27pm, I received a call from ACS informing me that Jose would not be able to make it that day, but would be there first thing Thursday morning. When I asked if there were any other options for Wednesday evening, given my wife's medical condition, the ACS attendant's response was "I understand" (she could not possibly understand unless she is dealing with this horrible, debilitating disease), and that nothing could be done. Okay, so we scheduled Jose for the next morning. At approximately 8:15am, Jose showed up to install the pump, which he did, within an hour. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and tidy, and most importantly, the AC unit was working beautifully. And then came the bill...$230.00. Not the $105.00 I was quoted the day before by the ACS office. So, I spoke with the ACS office to inquire as to whether a mistake was made, and of course I was told "no, no mistake" and that the additional cost was due to a new PC pipe to replace the one that ACS installed in 2012. Now I understand that perhaps a new PC pipe was necessary, and I appreciate the ACS technician wanting to ensure that the system be in the best possible operating condition, but an additional $125.00 for a 2.5' PC pipe? So then I asked if the $85.00, that I paid for the attendant to come out and essentially confirm what Joe had told me the night before, would be applied to the new $230.00 bill. I was again told "no". So, all in, I paid ACS $380.00 for the installation of a $65.00 condensation pump. All of this on top of the fact that I am (was) a loyal ACS customer, having paid ACS several thousand dollars for my Carrier furnace. So let's review, clear price gauging, complete disregard for my wife's medical condition, and clear lack of appreciation for my loyalty and business. All of this said (apologies for the long story), I will no longer be giving my business and my hard earned money to ACS Air Conditioning Systems. What stings the most is that I have referred several customers to this company. read more

Have engaged ACS several times over the past 10 years for work on my AC and heater. Again, very professional service, fast response and scheduled visit that quickly identified the problem and helped keep an old 40 year old furnace running with minor repairs. My thermostats were on cool but not generating any cold air. I went outside to check the AC unit and the fan was not working. It was a hot day, so I looked up Air conditioning repair and chose ACS because of good reviews, plus they were family owned and in business over 10+ years. Joe was technician that arrived to give me a full diagnostic and price quote. I believe that I'm a good judge of a person and I immediately could tell that Joe was very experienced, not trying to bs me and just a nice guy overall. It took all of maybe 10 minutes to show me that the capacitor was bad. I looked at it and it was obvious that it had blown up. I said "are you sure that's it." He looked at me with confidence and said "Yes." I could tell he knew what he was doing. He could have tried to oversell me but he was very professional and confident. He got a new capacitor out of his truck and installed it in no time. The cost and labor was more than reasonable. I was really impressed. We talked while he was installing the part and I discovered that he has been in the HVAC business since he was old enough to work. I highly recommend Joe for your AC repairs. Like I said he's very professional, knows these systems like the back of his hand, honest, tells it like it is with no bs and a really nice guy. Thank you Joe! read more

Thank you ACS! In the middle of a heatwave we lost our AC. I Called 4 different HVAC companies and all were up to their ears with service requests. ACS said they would try and fit me in within 2 days but called back to say that Joe the owner was on his way 2 hours after my call to them! Joe diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed our burned out wiring and was on his way. No sales pitch for a new system, just honest, professional and courteous! Will call ACS for all future HVAC issues. read more

I hired ACS to fix our broken air conditioner. They were friendly and professional, and they were able to schedule a technician to come out within two days. He arrived on time and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. The problem was a faulty part that was still under warranty from Carrier, the equipment manufacturer. ACS had the necessary replacement part already in their truck. They installed the part and only charged me for labor. They handle getting paid for the warrantied part by Carrier. I felt the price ACS charged was very fair. I greatly appreciated ACS's service and would be glad to hire them again. read more

ACS Air Conditioning Systems - AC Unit Being Repaired - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Concord, California

Our AC unit stopped blowing cold air rather suddenly during the recent heat wave, and I had three separate HVAC companies come check it out. The first said there was a block in the coolant circulation system and would cost ~$4000 to fix and recharge. The second said there was a leak, and they'd have to do extensive testing to detail the problem, but it would likely be an expensive fix. Then Joe Allen from ACS came out, first thought there may be a leak, but then dug a bit further and found a rodent had chewed through the wire powering the low pressure valve in the AC unit ... fix was $230. He also tested the system, gave us a thorough explanation on the results, and recommended we just monitor the performance of the AC before we do anything else. Joe was very professional and demonstrated great knowledge and experience during the visit. Highly recommend ACS. read more

I loved the service I received from ACS. I had an appointment for Friday. They happened to have availability today. I was out and wasn't paying attention to my phone and missed the call. ACS sent a tech over anyway. As I was pulling into my driveway, Caesar was knocking on my door. It was a small miracle. My AC was not blowing cold air. Caesar diagnosed it quickly and showed me why it wasn't. It was the capacitor and he showed me via a meter that mine was bad. Caesar was polite, professional, knowledgeable....all the buzz words we expect from vendors but don't always get. I highly recommend ACS! THANKS! read more

The team at ACS went above and beyond to help our family repair our furnace in the most cost effective manner. Jennifer and Justin are extremely personable, friendly, and dedicated. They prioritized our problem and came up with creative ways to get the needed part that was unavailable from the manufacturer during a time when supply chain problems are hitting every industry. George was always on time and diligent to diagnose the causes and offer affordable solutions. I'm very grateful to the ACS team and would recommend them to my friends and family. read more

Our heater stopped working. We had several companies look at it. ACS went the extra mile to find that our problem was a manufacturing design defect. Even though the furnace was 12 years old, they got us a significant discount on a replacement furnace. There was a small issue the next day, and they were out in minutes to deal with it. Justin, Loretta, George and Joe were wonderful to deal with. Wish we had 6 stars. Larry Wiens read more

Our AC went out last month. We initially obtained diagnostic info from another provider, and we were told our AC has a leak. The unit is old, and the refrigerant for our AC has been banned by Murica. We obtained 2 quotes from two other companies before reaching out to ACS. The quote we received from ACS is much more affordable than the other two, and we went ahead and requested their service to replace and install the new AC. The installation took three days because we have 2 levels, but all in all, it was pretty quick. The AC was working on day 2, and they pretty much just ironed out and cleaned whatever was needed on day 3. We are happy with the service from ACS, and the installers were all cool dudes. Would I recommend them? This is my first experience dealing with an AC replacement. I thought the whole process i dealt with was pretty difficult as it took a bit of research just to give you an idea of how much the total cost would be and what companies are out there that you can trust, depend and work with before making a purchase as it does not just involve spending a few hundred dollars. ACS made the installation process very easy and quick. ACS saved us over $10K had we gone with those two other quotes we initially obtained. So, yes, I would recommend ACS. read more

We have an old house with two crazy designed systems. ACS came to quote on installing a brand new system in our attic with all new ducting and adding AC. Just to be upfront: it turns out my I couldn't do what I had initially called in a quote for (zoning my HVAC system), so I ended up not hiring any HVAC service, but when Ronnie from ACS came, after he determined I couldn't zone my HVAC system, he detailed out a DIY alternative that cost an order of magnitude less than HVAC zoning. I'm not very DIY but I was able to follow his suggestion and it works great. ACS ended up not getting a penny from me and I still achieved my goal. Plus, Ronnie was wonderful to chat with. If I ever need HVAC service ACS will be the first place I call! I had learned of ACS from their rave Checkbook review, and they definitely deserve the high review. I had contacted three HVAC service companies to get a quote, and communication with ACS was way easier and faster than the other two. read more

I cannot begin to say how good these folks are. We found them at Consumers Checkbook where they have a Double Check - the highest rating Consumers CheckBook awards. I'm baaack... Our carrier heat pump that ACS installed 3 years ago decided it needed a "timeout" while I was away. Left the house with it running on the cooling function, came back a couple of hour later to find it off. It has functioned flawlessly up to now. Anyway, I called in the AM and got a noon appt, and then a call back that another tech (Nacho) would be able to come out sooner. Nacho found the problem quickly, a blown fuse in the 24V control side. Fused replaced and the heat pump is back from it's "timeout" Thanks again ACS! read more

ACS did our furnace 22 years ago and we remembered the quality service. Now, we decided to replace the furnace and ducts before there were any problems due to age (furnace was still working perfectly). Got 3 bids and was so impressed with Ronnie Johnson's knowledge and communication skills during his visit to do the estimate... everything he said made sense and was verified during our research on the internet (including checking out the applicable installation building codes!) Joe and Jose arrived Monday and were a joy to work with. I watched them and was pleased at their skill and their effort to make everything absolutely perfect. No "slam bang done" here. They finished at noon on Tuesday by explaining all the features on the new Carrier furnace control module (including WiFi access). Beautiful job at a fair price. We are so happy with ACS!! read more

So here it is summer and our AC was not working as efficiently as it should have. We called ACS and Justin with a technician came out and assessed the problem. Justin took the time to answer all of my questions and explain what was at fault. Thank you! So appreciated that I did not feel rushed and I felt that I was an important customer. The part was ordered and a technician came back to install and check the over all function. At all times the whole team was professional, clean and respectful. I would definitely recommend ACS to anyone with AC/furnace issues. read more

My HVAC system went out in my condo last year and I started getting quotes to have it replaced. I was shocked by some of the initial quotes that I was getting (not in a good way), and then came to ACS where I was given a much more reasonable price. They did a great job, on schedule, no hassle. We moved to a fixer upper this year that again needed HVAC replacement. I went straight to ACS this time and again they did a great job, including explaining and fixing an air flow problem that we were having in the upstairs. These guys are very efficient and reliable. I'm hoping I won't have any need in the near future for any more HVAC replacements, but won't hesitate to go to these guys for any future needs. read more

I recently had ACS install a Carrier HVAC system (furnace+A/C) in my house. From start to finish, they did a wonderful job. Bid: After my initial call, Doug and Justin promptly came out to estimate the job. They arrived on time and quickly and efficiently examined the entire existing system including existing ducting under the house and in the attic (other contractors were not as thorough in getting an idea of the existing state of the system). Using what they learned, they prepared an initial bid that clearly explained our options and what each option would cost. They also adjusted the bids several times to incorporate our feedback. Install: ACS is a union shop and the installers, Darren and Michael, were friendly, well-prepared, and really knew their stuff. They did a great job, including making sure that the house (particularly the hardwood floors) was kept as debris and damage-free as possible while flawlessly installing the system. They showed up when they said they would and worked hard all day to get the system finished by the projected deadline. Two great guys. On final inspection, the install met nearly all of the county inspector's qualifications. Darren and Michael came immediately (i.e., the next day) to resolve the one or two trifling details that the inspector found. In addition to setting up reasonable financing terms and preparing the paperwork for us, Doug came back out after the job was finished to help with preparing refund claims for the union and PG&E. Overall: A contractor that operates how contractors should operate; on time, on budget, professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend. read more

My experience with ACS was like a breath of fresh air (no pun intended) After getting bids from several companies where representatives were not punctual and took days and days to submit unclear non-itemized bis, I had given up on the Air Conditioning industry. I was amazed when Ronnie showed up 3 minutes before he said he would, and after a careful inspection of my property and a lengthy, patient question-answer session with me to assuage all of my concerns had a (very reasonable) bid ready for me within 2 hours. His crew was able to come to my house 3 days after we accepted the bid, and they too showed up a minute or two before they said they would. All the paperwork regarding permits and inspections was handled expertly and smoothly. It doesn't hurt to get a rebate from the Union, either! I literally CANNOT say enough good things about this business. read more

My A/C was no good due to refrigerant lines leaking underground. After "interviewing" 4 contractors (2 Carrier/Payne dealers, 2 Bryant dealers), I narrowed down to 2. I almost went with another company, but after speaking to Ronnie about the HERS test, I decide to go with ACS and I'm happy I did. FYI, ACS has the second lowest bid. It's also worth mention that ACS is the only company that's willing to give me a quote on AC w/o furnace, others refuse to quote on the AC unless I replace the furnace as well. But nevertheless, I ended up having ACS replace the 30 year old furnace along with A/C. Ronnie is very accommodating to my concerns regarding running new refrigerant lines. But it turns out no sheetrock was cut open thanks to Joe & Jose, so I'm quite happy about that. Joe is great. He is extremely patient with all my questions. Questions like "will you purge the lines w/ nitrogen to keep the inside lines clean?", and "what method do you use to adjust the refrigerant?" ..... (yes, I did my homework to ensure proper install). Joe really knows what he's doing. He also pointed out that the vent register in the kitchen was installed in reverse because the air is supposed to be blowing downward, not upward and he fixed it. Despite the miscommunication regarding lineset covers, Joe came back out today and installed the hat channel. It's definitely not as easy as it looks because of the tight space. Also with the downspout and window frame getting in the way. But Joe managed to pull through with Justin's help. Now it looks so much better. Choosing a HVAC contractor to replace your A/C can be stressful. Been there done that. I can say with confidence that you can rely on ACS for good work & reasonable price. read more

Need to repair/service your HVAC? Great news, you have found the right company, so stop looking & call Justin at ACS Air Conditioning Systems (925) 676-2103. I have had so many bad experiences that I am very suspect of anyone doing work in my home. I also had never used Yelp for anything but restaurants, so I was surprised I found such a great company via Yelp. Justin is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, professional, reasonable and prompt. His company identified our issue (the igniter gas filler o-ring was not present causing a blowback flame and melting the wires... bad previous repair with another company), he ordered the parts & installed them 1 day after they arrived, fixing our heater and keeping my family safe. All the while, maintaining a level of professionalism and customer service interaction that was second to none. Oh, and the best point, his billed repair invoice turned out to be lower than his original estimate, (mainly due to less labor time than originally suspected).
