Called in the middle of a heat wave because our A/C quit on us. We also contacted three other local HVAC business'. Of the four quotes we recieved, Tyndall HVAC was the only one who did not try to up-sale us. The other companies gave us outrageous quotes (lowest one was $21k) that included work that we didn't need. Peter listened carefully, and without judgement to our predicament. Then offered us exactly what we needed, with three different options, and explained the difference between each. Turns out all we needed was the heat pump, and Tyndall was able to utilize our existing ducting, which was only a year old. The unit we decided on was the option with an incredible warranty that is also transferable. You know? Like how companies used to all be here?? American pride. Thank you Tyndall HVAC, for your values and professionalism, at a time in our country that unfortunately seems to be lacking this moral aptitude. read more

Our gas water heater stopped working and we reached out to several plumbers for estimates on installing an electric heat pump replacement. Peter was very responsive and much more knowledgeable about heat pump water heaters than other contractors that we reached out to. Tyndall was not the cheapest estimate, but we ended up selecting Peter because of his responsiveness and knowledge. Other contractors aggressively pushed installing a basic gas, tank replacement or a gas tankless unit, which we were not interested in. After accepting the estimate, we were able to schedule installation about a week out. We may have been able to pay a little more and install a temporary gas, tank unit while we waited, but we decided to rely on friends. The installation took a full day. If you're going electric, make sure you have space in your panel for the appropriate breaker. The Rheem unit has worked great for us since the install in February - no issues at all. I like that I can use the app to schedule the unit and set in vacation/eco mode while we're away. read more

This review is long overdue! I have a Mitsubishi heat pump which was leaking because the person who originally installed it did not do a good job. So after 2 years, my house stopped heating and cooling. I went to the Mitsubishi verified list to find providers in my area and called a few. I got some ai robots, a few secretaries, a few technicians. Out of everyone I spoke with the ONLY person who actually talked to me about the issue was Peter Tyndall. He was so knowledgeable about it and I appreciated that he took that time. He and his crew were so professional and efficient. Unfortunately because it's been a few months I have forgotten 1-2 of their names but Jason and Edris, the 2 names I remember, were very professional and did a good job. Great quality work, great value as well. It's been a few months since they repaired my heat pump and it's been working fine. Peter and his guys also explained to me how to properly use my thermostats since it's a split zone. No one had told me this info before. I truly appreciate Peter and his crew for the good quality work. They're also super busy so you know it means they're in high demand. I would recommend Tyndall HVAC to anyone who needs a proper install or a repair. Very responsive, helpful, knowledgeable, reliable. 5 stars!! Thank you Tyndall HVAC. read more

Had new heat pump installed by Tyndal HVAC last year. The system has been performing well without any problem. Tyndal HVAC gave the most competitive pricing among other quotes of similar system. Jason and Peter installed the system in 2 days and even came back on the Saturday to make sure that everything was functioning well. They offered free complimentary 1 year check up and showed up when we called them. They checked the system, changed the filter during the checkup. We are very satisfied with their service and professionalism. We highly recommend them for any HVAC services. read more

I have used the services of Tyndall HVAC since 2020. Pricing has always been fair and service has been provided timely. Upon arrival to my property, the tech explains in detail what was needed to complete my repair. The first visit was to replace the coil, the pricing was within reason. This definitely resolved the problem. I appreciate their honesty. Prior to calling Tyndall HVAC a company I won't name tried to tell me I needed a whole new unit which would have cost me $18K (including showing me pics of a unit that was not mine). Trust me, if you want quality, reasonable and timely service please contact Tyndall HVAC. I highly recommend their services! read more

For a few years I knew I needed to replace my HVAC system. My home being over 40 years old, it had a few quirks that I needed addressed. I had several companies come and give quotes and Tyndall was the one I went with. I had several bids offering worse equipment for $20,000 more than Tyndall. They worked with the issues my house had, and got me equipment that had the features I wanted. If I buy another home in the area, I would not hesitate to use them again. TLDR- Tyndall is great If you want a more detailed explanation, keep reading. My home is a 3 floor split level in Contra Costa County. Built in the early 1980's, the main HVAC return was on the first floor, not 10 feet from the furnace/air handler (I may use those terms interchangeably here) in the garage. The second return was on the stairs going from level 2 to level 3. It was just a gap in the drywall, with no ducting. This was code at the time, and is not uncommon. But its also useless. Following the path of least resistance, air was always pulled from the first level. This was fine in the winter, when that cold air was warmed and distributed to the rest of the house. It was a nightmare in the summer. Returning the cold air in a loop but never cooling the house. On warm days, the AC would kick on at 10 AM and not turn off until I gave up at 7 PM and the house was 80*. Completely useless. I had HVAC bills nearing $1000 in the summer. So over several months I spent time researching and getting bids. Most were very generic, plain replacement jobs with no solution to pull warm air from the third level. This was not satisfactory. Speaking with my neighbor who has a similar floor plan, he had a new return added to his upstairs hallway. After speaking to several companies and none taking it very seriously, Tyndall came and gave a detailed explanation of how it could be achieved, what I'd have to give up (part of a large hallway closet), and how it would effect the system. Next we spoke about components. They had access to several great brands, and I considered something like Carrier for quite a while, until reasoning that hybrid capability in the future had great value. Peter from Tyndall recommended a Bosch heat pump as the outside unit, which has an equally high efficiency rating as many of the AC only units, but also can heat. This is a feature that will be useful in the future if I ever get solar. I was familiar with this type of feature, as some of the rooms upstairs have mitsubishi mini split units, which can also heat. They are incredibly effective and cheap to run. For now we are not using that feature, but its an option if gas prices swing dramatically the other direction. The air handler/furnace was also replaced with a Rheem 96% efficiency unit that can be installed in a downdraft configuration, something many units cannot. Depending on where you live in Contra Costa, you may have a unit like that which will really limit what you can replace it with. This Rheem worked to achieve that, and can work in tandem with the heat pump if I ever want to use electric heating. Also something not all units can do (look for "hybrid" in the heating method). And of course, they installed a new return in the upstairs hallway beautifully, now when the AC is on and you walk upstairs, you don't hit a wall of hot air. My system actually conditions warm air from upstairs. The previous system had no filters on the furnace, only at the returns. The problem was the returns were just gaps in the subfloor and walls. So even with filters on those spots the air handler coils still got filthy. My new system has a 5" pleated filters right above the furnace, easy to change and keep the system clean. read more

"I had my Daikin HVAC installed replacing my aged Carrier. Now that Summer is around the corner, I have it turned on this past days when these days were starting to becoming hot. It's producing the coolness quietly compared with my old unit. Plus the energy it consumes uses only minimal compared to the old one. I like that this unit uses variable energy depending on the setting against the current temperature. It's totally energy saver. Overall, I'm happy that Peter the owner of Tyndall suggested this Daikin for me which I was hesitant at first but now I like it. " read more

Peter came out and gave us a quote for a Heat Pump and Water Heater replacement. He was super knowledgable and went over all the details thoroughly, explaining the issues that our complicated house would have and how they would address them. We were down to the final two companies and although we did not end up going with Tyndall by the narrowest of margins, I would not hesitate to recommend him for anyone interested in upgrading. read more

Update- Business owner Peter reached out to me the same day via text and Yelp to apologize. Offered free diagnostics (normally charged $85?) and 15% off if we decide to get their services. The technician came promptly on the rescheduled appointment, thoroughly checked the unit and gave us a competitive quote. Their rates were far more reasonable than the other 2 companies we have checked. We decided to hire them on the spot. Jason, the technician worked on the issue and explained to us in detail how to work the smart thermostat (which was far more complicated than our old standard thermostat). He fully answered all our follow-up questions. He and another Tyndall technician worked fast on the problem. Altho I had a not-so-nice initial experience with them, Tyndall proved themselves worthy of my business. read more

I should have reviewed Tyndall HVAC inc a few months ago. They installed a new HVAC system for our home this summer. I was traveling out of country. Finally, today I am writing this review based on our experience working with Tyndall HVAC Inc. Our house was flooded by earlier this year's flood. The furnace and air conditioning system were damaged. We were looking for a good company to install the new HVAC system. After we interviewed some of HVAC companies, we are very glad we found Tyndall HVAC Inc. Tyndall HVAC inc is a local small company. They have a good reputation of doing a solid business. Peter, the owner, knows this business very well. He was here everyday while they started this project. He made sure everything went well and explained to us what was going on... he guided us through this stressful new adventure of selecting, installing the best suitable HVAC heating and cooling system for our home at the best price, etc Peter and his team are wonderful. They are friendly, knowledgeable, hardworking people and finished the job on time. I can not thank them enough to help us cleaned old damaged HVAC System and selected, installed the new energy efficient system to our house. Its very quiet, working beautifully and environmentally Friendly. Even though we had to wait for a few months to get the right equipment, the wait was well worth it. Now we are enjoying the new system and saving energy and good for the environment. Peter not only taking care of the project while it's going on, He is also hands-on and continues to help us and answers questions after the work is completed and will help the maintenance work as well.
